Return of the Lampshade

by BadgeHungry on April 1, 2008

If you didn’t pick up your lampshade hat a while ago when it was originally released, head to the Mini Mall and grab one for your mini now. It’s only 1,200 tokens and looks like this:

Good Mini News

by BadgeHungry on March 28, 2008

A mini update for those of you who have been begging for more mini items, more frequently!

We know there are lots of mini items (specifically Pogo-related outfits and backgrounds, vacation backgrounds, and another Dr. Kathleen relaxation set) coming, but we’ve all been disappointed that Pogo stopped releasing mini items every other week. However, at Thursday’s Amazing Minis! social, the judge let everyone know that Pogo would be returning to their bi-weekly release schedule starting in May.

Winter Thaw Mini Background Coming Back Soon

by BadgeHungry on March 27, 2008

Those of you who have reported the disappearance of the “Winter Thaw” mini background, fear not! Pogo’s editor has stated that due to a technical error the background was removed from the closets of the people who owned it, but it’ll be coming back “fairly soon”.

Usually when this kind of error happens, it means someone was monkeying around with that particular item in the database. We are guessing that “Winter Thaw” may be available for purchase once again in the mini mall “fairly soon” as well. Fingers crossed!

Pogo Addiction Solitaire Mini Items

by BadgeHungry on March 25, 2008

Here are the in-game mini items that are being awarded in Pogo Addiction Solitaire:

Mini Items in Pogo Addiction Solitaire

The female sweatshirt is the blue one, and the male is the grey one. Winning one sweatshirt gets you the other automatically if you ever decide to change your mini’s gender. If you are awarded your Spike hat, it currently shows up under Hair, not Hats, in your closet at the mini mall. (It will be moved to the more appropriate “Hats” category sometime in April.)

How to get these items: in the bonus round, if you successfully uncover all moneybags without uncovering a fire, you will have a 20% chance of winning one of these mini items.

Good luck!

Free Mini Item

by BadgeHungry on March 25, 2008

One of those relaxation mini items that hasn’t officially been released yet has snuck into the latest release on Pogo. Head to the mini mall — click on My Mini and What’s New, last page — and pick up your free Singing Bowl! (Originally we thought this was a mortar and pestle, and some people thought it was champagne chilling in a bowl of ice…)

Free Pogo Mini Item: Singing Bowl

We’re not sure if it was supposed to be free (but we suspect it was), but it certainly shouldn’t be out yet, so don’t wait on picking it up, just in case.

Further sleuthing… In the information for this item (clicking on the “i” in the upper left corner of the item), it lists it as having been released on 3/3. Assuming this was a typo, we are guessing that the full set of relaxation items will be released on 4/3.

And even more sleuthing… The Take 5 to Play mini items page says “Look forward to a new and FREE Pogo Mini item release in April.”

Pogo UK’s Ed Does it Again

by BadgeHungry on March 21, 2008

We’re about to switch our home page from Pogo.com to Pogo.co.uk here!

Last month, Pogo UK’s Letters to the Editor covered the lack of Valentine’s mini items, and this month Ed has apologized (or should we spell it ‘apologised’?) the lack of St. Patrick’s Day and Easter mini items.

Regarding the lack of Easter (and, for that matter, St Patrick’s Day) items in the Mini Mall, for this we can only apologise. We did plan to re-release some of last year’s items to allow folks to pick up some Easter goodies for the holiday. Unfortunately, due to, let’s call it an oversight, this plan wasn’t put into action… Our sincere apologies for this - we’ll be more vigilant in future!

So far, from Pogo’s US contingent, all we’ve received is near radio silence regarding mini items and a message that the editor will be on vacation this week. Tsk, tsk.

As far as the Easter version of Sweet Tooth 2 goes, only UK’s editor mentioned it, too, although it is themed on both sites.

More Mini Items

by BadgeHungry on March 14, 2008

Wow, Pogo sure has created a lot of mini items lately. It looks as if you’ll also be able to get full costumes of the mascots for Hangman Hijinks (both male and female), Tumble Bees, Sweet Tooth, and Hog Heaven Slots (pink piggie). It shouldn’t be long now before we get a whole release full of neat Pogo-related mini items in the mini mall, unless Pogo has even more mini items up their sleeve!

Mini Backgrounds in the Works

by BadgeHungry on March 7, 2008

Coming soon are five new mini backgrounds that have a loose “out and about” theme to them. There’s one for the soccer moms, featuring a minivan parked near a soccerfield; one for avid campers, showing an RV; and one for cyclists, picturing a chopper motorcycle parked on the beach. There’s also a downtown London scene, and a Hollywood red carpet scene. The camper and red carpet look familiar, a lot like the previous mini backgrounds “Caravan Park” (still available) and “At Da Club Pogo” (won in Lottso Deluxe).

Where’d Pogo Go?

by BadgeHungry on March 4, 2008

When you’re trying to get into a game room and get a message reading “This service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.”, it means there’s a problem with the Pogo game servers. They may be performing some kind of emergency maintenance, the servers may have crashed or gone down, or it may have been planned.

This Pogo™ Mini is unavailableOther messages and errors you might get include the following:

  • “System Too Busy” error: “Our server is currently busy and can not process your request at this moment.”
  • “Tokens Unavailable” (or your token amount may be zero — gasp) and “This Pogo Mini is unavailable” where your mini should be on your home page
  • “Your info could not be accessed at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.” when you try to view Badge Central
  • The Mini Mall may be replaced with a message that reads “Sorry! The Mini Mall is down for maintenance. Please try back later.”

Do not panic!

We repeat: PLEASE. Do. Not. Panic.

Pogo will be back up soon. Your tokens, mini, badges, albums, gems, and everything else will be just the way they were before the servers went down. And you might get a new game, new mini items, or absolutely nothing out of the harrowing ordeal of being Pogo-less for a few minutes (or — dread the thought — hours)!

These outages don’t always affect the servers for deluxe games, so if you have (and haven’t finished) Tri-Peaks 2, Lottso! Deluxe, The Poppit Show, or Mahjong Garden Deluxe, you might check to see if you can catch up on ranks for those until Pogo returns.
