Pogo’s artists have been hard at work creating the next Mix-n-Match badges. The good news is that there are fifteen new badges (that look especially great in our opinion), including ones for some new games like KenoPop! and Sudoku Puzzle Blast, and maybe even (a hopefully made-over) Ali Baba Slots. We desperately want to tell you that these will all be for April, but they may very well be spread across two months of Mix-n-Match challenges. We’ll post more details as they become available, of course!
This morning’s Pogo maintenance brings us the release of Sudoku Puzzle Blast — enjoy!
Here’s an initial game tip: the higher the difficulty level you choose, the more pieces you’ll have to place per game and can achieve ranks faster, since the ranks are based upon how many puzzle pieces you place.
It feels like the news this week has been slow, but we think it might be that we’ve had a whirlwind of rumors and information since the new year! A few noteworthy items from the past few days that didn’t deserve a full blog post:
We caught wind that Pogo is redesigning the game room selection pages.
We also heard that Sudoku Puzzle Blast was pretty much done and that it’ll be out “soon” (yes, Pogo actually used the word “soon” again).
And speaking of soon… This week’s Letters to the Editor had us in stitches! Short and to the point, a user wrote in with the question “So… when exactly is Word Riot coming back?” Of course, the Editor’s response was not exact, nor anything we couldn’t have gleaned from previous Editor writings on the topic: “I can’t give you an exact date, but I can say that it will be coming out in the nearish future!” (Insert a collective sigh…)
Did you notice the golf caddy in the latest Pogo Insider? WeatherDude did! In addition to this character (who is from the upcoming Golf Solitaire game), the latest Pogo Insider is decorated with a lot of puzzle pieces. Perhaps it’s a nod to the also-upcoming Sudoku Puzzle Blast? Anyway, here’s a screenshot of the header:

Pogo hasn’t posted the latest Insider to their web site yet, so if you haven’t seen it for yourself, check back here and we’ll update this post with a link when it arrives.
Yep, it was a boo-boo. Check it out:
Before… it’s Quest:

And after…it’s Blast!

Voila! Further proof that Pogo webmasters are only human, too!
From the Community Center today comes an official mention of Sudoku Puzzle Quest. (What happened to “Blast”? Did someone make a boo-boo?) This news comes along with some screenshots. (Hey they’re mice after all!) Oddly enough, today’s post does not mention a “coming soon”, just that it’s a new twist on the classic Sudoku and it’ll be easy enough for anyone to learn.
While incomplete, we have a rough draft of the How to Play and Rules for Sudoku Puzzle Blast. These rules are lengthier than usual, and that’s probably due to the fact that Sudoku in general is daunting to the average “casual gamer”, but also that Pogo’s twist on this game is so very unique (dare we say it’s like pseudoku?). In addition, this “How to Play” seems to have been written in a lighthearted, more playful and conversational style than the other rulesets. With all of that said, it’s still missing screenshots and will probably go through a round of edits before the final version.
