It’s days like these that we wish we had the ability to withhold the free donuts from Pogo employees when they screw up things this badly.
Pogo (and Oberon Media) sent out an email this morning to ALL Club Pogo members about Diner Dash Family Style, and how it was available for download from this page. However, we’ve checked it out and the version available for download doesn’t work…yet. (The file size is only 11bytes and if you try to run it, you’ll just get a black terminal window that hangs and hangs and hangs…)
Come on Pogo, we beg you… get your act together!
We expect someone at Pogo will figure this out soon, so don’t buy the game until your trial version WORKS. And certainly, don’t fret if your download doesn’t install properly; it’s happening to all of us.
Update 3:15pm EST Michelle wrote in to tell us it’s working just fine for her, and we just took the game for a test drive, and we’re pleased to finally say that Diner Dash Family Style seems to be available! We still aren’t taking back what we said up there about taking away their donuts, by the way.
Update 10/29/08 If you’re having problems with Diner Dash, note the following two things: one, you aren’t alone and two, you need to contact customer support for Pogo (not us — we can’t help you).

We know some of you out there have been holding your breath for the release of Diner Dash Family Style. Well, we’re all hoping you’ll be able to relax and play if Pogo releases it tomorrow (it’s not looking likely, though, since the help files are still in a state of chaos). In the meantime here are some screenshots for you to peruse while you wait.

Those of you who were looking forward to Diner Dash Family Style will be pleased to hear that it’ll be released today or tomorrow. We’ve gotten our hands on an advance copy but it’s not quite ready for release. Rest assured, the folks at Pogo are working hard to get it just right. So keep your eye on the downloads section of their site today (or maybe tomorrow or maybe next week) for its release.
Here’s a screenshot of the main menu:

In the meantime, visit our sneak peek page for a reminder of the great mini items you’ll be able to earn in the game.

Diner Dash Family Style is a downloadable, deluxe-style game that Pogo is developing now. As with the deluxe-style games (Operation Mania, Word Riot Deluxe, Tri-Peaks Solitaire: Quest for the Ruby Ring, Mahjong Garden Deluxe, The Poppit! Show, and Lottso! Deluxe), this game will have a limited-time free trial available. Club Pogo members will be able to earn a badge just for trying out the game, and then five other badges as you rank up.
There will also be items for your minis! There will be five backgrounds (different scenes for each restaurant), five goodies (different counters and trays you’d find in each restaurant), and five full costumes.

As far as gameplay goes, the Diner Dash franchise is a series of time management games. They all feature Flo, who is a zippy waitress trying to reach her daily goal. If you haven’t played any of them, you might be interested in one of the following free trials:
For an all-around sneak peek, check out the Diner Dash: Seasonal Snack Pack. It contains the first five “episodes” of the Diner Dash series plus new levels and restaurants to try out.
