New Premium Badge Album

by BadgeHungry on January 17, 2008

We have VERY limited details on a new premium badge album that’s in development. So far it’s got 9 badges and one bonus badge for completing the album. It contains challenges for Mahjong Garden, Poppit!, Jigsaw Detective, First Class Solitaire, Jungle Gin, Dominoes, Word Search Daily, Sweet Tooth 2, and Thousand Island Solitaire. Usually these albums have a more “round” number of challenges (like 10 instead of 9), so we’re expecting to report an additional challenge, plus more details as they surface.

Addiction Solitaire Coming Soon

by BadgeHungry on January 16, 2008

As if the previous six “coming soon” games were not enough, we’ve just caught wind of Pogo’s Addiction Solitaire! We have posted the rules for Addiction Solitaire on our site for your perusal. It’ll have ranks and badges as follows:

Rank 10: King of Her Heart Badge - Collect 100 Pogo Buddies
Rank 20: Aerodynamic Makeover Badge - Collect 300 Pogo Buddies
Rank 30: Welcome “Visitor” Badge - Collect 550 Pogo Buddies
Rank 40: True Love…Gold! Badge - Collect 1050 Pogo Buddies
Rank 50: Stumpy Gets Lucky! Badge - Collect 1550 Pogo Buddies

Available only to Club Pogo members, this game will also give out 5 mini items as ‘rewards’. There’s a background, two goodies (a Pogo-branded Razor Scooter and a set of Pogo character bobble head “Buddies”), a Spike headpiece (think helmet), and a Pogo-branded (female is blue, male is gray) hoodie. Cute stuff!

If you just cannot wait for the game to come out, you can always try out Yahoo’s version, which plays the same as Pogo Addiction Solitaire probably will, but without the powerups, the tokens, the ranks and badges, and all of the reasons we play at Pogo and nowhere else!

New Limited Edition badge soon

by BadgeHungry on January 16, 2008

A new Limited Edition badge is coming for Valentine’s 2008. If it’s anything like the previous limited edition badges, you’ll be able to buy it with 22 gems (the same way you buy Mix & Match challenges) during a specific time period (end of January through mid-February). The badge itself is animated (and features the Word Whomp gophers in love — aww how sweet!) and the chat icon is an animated “beating” heart. To get this badge, in addition to forking over your precious gems, you’ll have to play hearts and “take EXACTLY ZERO Hearts in 5 hands in 2 weeks!”

Rules for Golf Solitaire leaked today

by BadgeHungry on January 15, 2008

Today, partial rules for Golf Solitaire were leaked onto the internet. We’ve posted them here added them to the sidebar of our site for you to peruse while you anxiously await one of Pogo’s next releases.

As expected, this game will play much like Tri-Peaks Solitaire. However, there is the addition of ‘Hazard cards’ (like in Thousand Island Solitaire and Dice Derby), play against the other people in your room, and ‘par’-based scoring. In addition, the rules tell us that it will be a game available to non-Club members as well.

Update: We found the rest of the rules, so we posted the complete text this evening. And with that, this bit of information (among so much more): “There are 40 ranks in all, and you get badges at ranks 5, 10, 20, 30, and 40.” Knowing that we’d seen 6 badges earlier, we assume there will be a ’special’ badge with this game as well.

Word Riot Deluxe confirmed

by BadgeHungry on January 14, 2008

Not that we needed any more confirmation, but in today’s Pogo News, the Pogo staff ‘officially’ confirmed the upcoming release of Word Riot Deluxe. Behold:

“That’s right– Word Riot is coming back as a Deluxe game! Fans of the original will be delighted to know that we’ve addressed many of the concerns from the original, and we’ve added tons of incredibly fun features– including ranks, winnable Mini items, different game modes, and all sorts of other cool new things!”

Word Riot fans, rejoice! But don’t hold your breath and expect a quick release, because while only Pogo knows when a game will be released, it could take a while longer due to testing and development issues.

Word Riot Badges

by BadgeHungry on January 10, 2008

We just saw the six new badges for the upcoming Word Riot Deluxe and they are great! They’ve got a game show theme, and all of the characters are in the same mini costumes that you can win as you progress in ranks. (Here’s a secret: the lobster wins the game!)

While we’re on the subject of Word Riot Deluxe, we created a page (placeholder, perhaps) for the rules of the game that we found recently.

Sudoku

by BadgeHungry on January 4, 2008

Do you like Sudoku? If so, you’re in luck. Pogo will be releasing a version of Sudoku with ranks and badges. We’ve seen five badges and they’re all a lovely shade of coppery brown and feature mining mice (yes, mice in a mine). There aren’t many details available yet, but as usual we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

KenoPop! on its way

by BadgeHungry on December 26, 2007

Pogo has put up a page on their site for KenoPop!. This page tells us that it’s going to be a Club Pogo game, so it’s safe to assume that KenoPop! won’t replace the current Keno, so the non-Club members will still have a Keno to play. And if the release of this page is any indication, we expect this speedy version of keno to be out pretty soon, probably before the end of January (our source says the 22nd or 29th). For what it’s worth, a similar page for Thousand Island Solitaire was put up only 8 days prior to its release.

Coming Soon: Mahjong Safari

by BadgeHungry on December 20, 2007

Everyone seems to have an opinion as to whether or not Pogo needs another Mahjong-style game (or another solitaire game, for that matter), but it looks like the “Rhymes with Bahjong” game we heard about in mid-November may be called Mahjong Safari. “Lions and tigers and bears, oh my”? We’ll post more details as we get them.
