Pogo has posted a tidbit about Monopoly Here & Now on their News page. As we already knew, the game will feature cities from around the world instead of properties on the board. When the game is released in fall on Pogo, it’ll feature “customizable game rules, unique player icons, spectacular sound effects and rich graphics from the World Edition board game.” As it’s in development, you can vote for your favorite city to be featured on the board game and in Pogo’s version.
It feels like the news this week has been slow, but we think it might be that we’ve had a whirlwind of rumors and information since the new year! A few noteworthy items from the past few days that didn’t deserve a full blog post:
We caught wind that Pogo is redesigning the game room selection pages.
We also heard that Sudoku Puzzle Blast was pretty much done and that it’ll be out “soon” (yes, Pogo actually used the word “soon” again).
And speaking of soon… This week’s Letters to the Editor had us in stitches! Short and to the point, a user wrote in with the question “So… when exactly is Word Riot coming back?” Of course, the Editor’s response was not exact, nor anything we couldn’t have gleaned from previous Editor writings on the topic: “I can’t give you an exact date, but I can say that it will be coming out in the nearish future!” (Insert a collective sigh…)
Did you notice the golf caddy in the latest Pogo Insider? WeatherDude did! In addition to this character (who is from the upcoming Golf Solitaire game), the latest Pogo Insider is decorated with a lot of puzzle pieces. Perhaps it’s a nod to the also-upcoming Sudoku Puzzle Blast? Anyway, here’s a screenshot of the header:
Pogo hasn’t posted the latest Insider to their web site yet, so if you haven’t seen it for yourself, check back here and we’ll update this post with a link when it arrives.

With respect to the Easter Limited Edition Badge we told you about a few days ago, we’ve got details on the challenge. It’ll be in Poppit! You’ll have to use a “pin” or “weight” power-up 30 times in 3 days. The badge will cost 22 gems and you will win 3,000 tokens when you complete it.
As we reported earlier, Mahjong Safari will have two ’special’ badges in addition to the five game award badges. You can receive one of them for making 50,000 matches of tiles and the other for giving 1,000 gifts to other players (gifts, like in Word Search Daily). The 50,000 matches badge shows a ladybug tile and the 1,000 gifts one is a present wrapped up in animal-print paper and tied with a bow.
In addition to the seven backgrounds we told you about earlier, Pogo has crafted up new animated backgrounds (one is especially cute: a field of sunflowers with smileys as their centers), two goodies (falling smileys and dancing smileys), and five (very strange) animal faces for your minis — a dog, a pig, a cow, a goat, and a monkey. We haven’t been able to put together a theme for these items other than “smileys”, but we thought you’d want to know they’re on their way soon.

The game rules are fairly simple but this game is not the easiest to win. Power-ups and the reshuffling feature are valuable items. If you do not use either of these to win the game you will be rewarded with extra tokens.
“Arrange the cards from left to right, 2 to King, in each suit. Move cards into unoccupied spaces by placing the next highest card in suit and sequence to the right of any card. If you run out of moves, reshuffle the deck or use a power-up to continue playing.”
You don’t rank up by winning the game, you rank up by finding Pogo Buddies through normal gameplay. For every 10 Pogo Buddies (bobble-head collectibles) you receive you will get to play the bonus game. The bonus game is played a lot like the bonus game in Vaults of Atlantis where you uncover squares (in this case, Pogo Buddies) until you receive a “stopper” (in this case, a fire icon). The bonus game is played for tokens (and rumor has it that it’s got a great payout too) and the possibility of winning one of the five mini items available in this game.
“You’ve unlocked the Tiki Bros. Bonus game. There are 9 (moneybag) icons and 1 (fire) icon in the game. Click on the Pogo Buddies to reveal the icons but stay away from the (fire) or the bonus game ends. Reveal all (moneybag) icons for a chance to win a mini item.”
