I use Windows 8 with IE 10. I have Java 7 update 17. I keep getting a request to update Java. Knowing all the previous issues with Java updates, is it safe to update, and will all the games still play. Anyone else having this issue? Thanks!

You should always update Java so that games run properly. There is a change with this update that you can read about on the java site. One of these changes is currently affecting Pogo games, but has not caused me to lose a game or tokens. I have seen the message about 3 times a day and just click “do not block” since I trust Pogo, but everyone needs to make that decision for themselves. I don’t find having to click a box 3 times in 15 hours is a problem, but some will.

Here is the java article concerning this message on Pogo…..

After all the problems I had with the update, my sister left her computer on Java 7.17 and her computer works great – without the security error messages.

Cody – Just go to http://www.java.com and click on “free java download”. It will automatically take you to the correct version for your computer operating system.

Cody – I haven’t had it anywhere but my control panel for a very long time. I’m sure that someone can tell you how to get it on your desktop if you really want it there.

Joan, remember with windows 8 you need to install from the desktop. I go to the java site and perform the manual download, delete the old java program and the from download files execute the new java 7.21. Mine is working fine.

I have Windows 8 and all I do to update Java is click update in the Java panel. A quick way to find the Java Panel on Windows 8 is to press the Windows button + W, then type Java and it’ll pop up.

    No problems at all.

Cody, if you want the the Java icon on your desktop, you will need to pay attention to the download. Believe at the beginning of the download, it gives you the option, to put into a different folder. (Using Windows XP)

I had problems with downloading java7.21. I got a warning that the file was corrupt and every time I tried to go to the home page at pogo, it keep redirecting me to the java download page. To fix this, I deleted the java7.21 and downloaded Java 6 update 43 and it works fine now. If you go to OldApps.com you can find this version there.

Java is not on the desktop anymore and it is also found under View 32 bit on your control panel, if you are having trouble finding it. I had to download 7.21 or I could not play any pogo game.
