Crossword Cove powerups?

Am currently working on a personal for this game: Earn 12 powerups. I earned 2 just now but didn’t get credit for them. My question is if you use the hint button, does this prevent you from getting credit for the powerups?

I don’t know for sure, but the hint button should have no effect on the power ups.
Recently the progress for a badge doesn’t always show in the chat area until you go to the next game. And sometimes it’s only showing on badge central, but you need to leave the game room for that to update.

Thank you. I had to leave Pogo for it to show up. Came here to ask the question, went back to Pogo and my progress showed up.
