Sneak Peek: Sushi Cat 2 Badges

February 16, 2012 · 48 comments

Hey, remember Sushi Cat 2? Pogo’s been working to get it ready for the past few months and the rank badges for the game have just been created. Check ‘em out (in order: rank 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50).

Sushi Cat Badge - Rank 10 Sushi Cat Chat Icon - Rank 10   Sushi Cat Badge - Rank 20 Sushi Cat Chat Icon - Rank 20   Sushi Cat Badge - Rank 30 Sushi Cat Chat Icon - Rank 30

Sushi Cat Badge - Rank 40 Sushi Cat Chat Icon - Rank 40   Sushi Cat Badge - Rank 50 Sushi Cat Chat Icon - Rank 50

Now that these graphics have been created and the game is coming together, we should be seeing this released to Pogo in the near future.

Armor Games has a playable version of Sushi Cat 2 online if you’d like to check it out now before Pogo launches their version. And if you decide you like it and want to take it with you, Sushi Cat for iOS is available in the App Store.

2 Sam Larimer February 16, 2012 at 7:38 pm

AHHH! I played this game a long time ago on Kongregate and loved it! Can’t wait for it to hit Pogo with ranks and badges. *BIG THUMBS UP*

3 Ed February 16, 2012 at 7:50 pm

First time I’ve ever seen a pair of chopsticks initiate the action in a game.

4 Ardenwolfe February 16, 2012 at 8:04 pm

I actually look forward to this game. It’s simple. Looks stupid. But, somehow, it’s entertaining.

5 Seth5545 February 16, 2012 at 8:16 pm

Another new boring game on Pogo!:(

6 dj5lee February 16, 2012 at 8:53 pm

Not sure I will enjoy this but sure am looking forward to a new game with ranks and badges.

7 rabbitandkitty February 16, 2012 at 8:54 pm

never heard of this game but going by the graphics on rank badges looks like a kids game, not sure if i be playing this.

8 v February 16, 2012 at 9:53 pm

badges look pretty similar to each other, mostly. That ONE FAT Cat.

9 ShadowCat03 February 16, 2012 at 10:06 pm

Can’t wait!!! The badges look awesome!

10 Linda February 16, 2012 at 10:54 pm

Wow seriously???? This is lame.

11 Karen February 16, 2012 at 11:47 pm

Just tried this at Armor Games and, after initial confusion on how to start it, played a round. It seems like it can be a lot of fun but I had to keep adjusting the window as my mouse seemed to move the playing field. Will have to try it on another computer :) PepperGlenwood#1 – so glad you said plinko because that helped me figure out the game LOL

12 Danny February 16, 2012 at 11:49 pm

It’s an okay game, i mean it’s not super fun (played the first one)
but i recommend that those who look at it and say “This sucks” without playing it at least try it.
It’s nothing exciting though for me.

13 Danny February 16, 2012 at 11:50 pm

Oh dear lord, just looked at the badge image icons, YUCK!!!

14 Ange February 17, 2012 at 1:00 am

Looks very childish. Very ugly chat icons in my opinion.

Hope it is not another embedded game with no chat n tokens.

15 rabbitroserabbit February 17, 2012 at 2:18 am

This might be simple, but I love the kitty badges. I’m hoping it proves easy for me – more kitties, and they’re blue :)

16 jinty55 February 17, 2012 at 4:28 am

Dont kow if this is a game for me, but im sure there are plenty
who will love this.

17 Phil February 17, 2012 at 5:52 am

i will give it a try
but if its chatless,it will soon be forgotten

18 CaptHitsugaiya February 17, 2012 at 6:50 am

I made it to level 24 on the first pplaythrough.

19 Madbuk1001 February 17, 2012 at 6:58 am

I wonder wether they’ll make the rank requirments an unbelievable amount of sushi…
Cant wait for this, tried it on Armor Games when BadgeHungry got the news it was coming out a while ago and its fun. Don’t see many people (besides me) playing it though…

20 Anna February 17, 2012 at 7:55 am

I have the same concern as madbuck. Will the ranks be achievable or will we need to get 10 million sushi just to get to rank 1!?

I too have never played this until today (through following Lura’s link).

It does seem a little simple, though some kind of logic is involved.

If the ranks are achievable, and not some stupid amount, then I will play it. If not, it’s a thumbs down from me.

21 Zerpiah February 17, 2012 at 8:41 am

I tried the game first time you had news on it and it is very childish and boring. I hope the ranks are fast or this will be another pain to do.

22 Handukka February 17, 2012 at 9:02 am

Thanks for the link. I played some of the game and it’s not too bad. Anything with ranks and badges is great in my book!

23 Kat F February 17, 2012 at 9:39 am

Well, I played using the link…geez, that’s about all I can say.

Thanks for the info, Lura.

Good luck to everyone who can sit thru this mindless game. I won’t be playing when it comes to Pogo, badges, chat nor tokens.

Hugs to All, Kat F

24 Honey February 17, 2012 at 9:48 am

Them are some ugly badges! Looks like they hired kids for a coloring contest and threw them out there for badges. Pogo needs to take pride in their work or allow pogo players to design them for the games.

25 Indy Cindy February 17, 2012 at 10:24 am

Because I believe in trying things so I can post an informed opinion, I did just that. Not a bad game, very similar to Plinko, certainly not a horrific nor troubling experience in my Pogo life that will lead me to nightmares or therapy – and most importantly it will have badges – good enough for me.

26 Erin February 17, 2012 at 11:27 am

It’s a cute game, and one that does require a bit of strategy as well as luck. I just played it and finished the entire story. I’m not sure about the badges themselves, and the icons could use some work. Still, it’s a new game with new badges, so I can’t complain. Thanks as always, Lura, for the preview!

I’m assuming this isn’t a Club Pogo exclusive. Lura, do you know if Pogo has dropped that from its model of Club Pogo? They don’t seem to be doing Club-exclusive games any longer. That seemed to be one of the initial draws to the Club, but all of these new FIAB games are for everyone (I think). I’m just curious if you’re aware of any changes along those lines.

27 Stef140 February 17, 2012 at 11:30 am

I am willing to save my opinion until I give it a try, but those badges are terrible! This whole thing sounds like something you’d pitch to a room of 3rd graders. I will try it, but my hopes are not high.

28 starrynight February 17, 2012 at 11:43 am

I haven’t played this game yet, so not sure if I’ll like it, but I’m willing to give it a try. I don’t really care about the icons looking childish, but they do all look the same. Hope Pogo releases it soon so I can try it! :)

And like others have said, I hope the requirements aren’t outrageous. Thanks for the preview!

29 eggfarmer February 17, 2012 at 12:32 pm

Well I’ve just tried it out on the link that Lura provided and all I can say is – quoting John McEnroe – YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS.

Pogo is killing off Daily Hot Shots – and putting in this nonsense instead?? Have they lost the plot??? Who exactly is this supposed to appeal to?? And since you can play this on any old game site – why even bother having it here???

30 Indy Cindy February 17, 2012 at 2:37 pm

Eggfarmer #29 regarding your comment: ” Who exactly is this supposed to appeal to?? And since you can play this on any old game site – why even bother having it here???”

I respectfully reply: Pogo is a game site that consists of many age groups, some pretty young as well as the opposite age spectrum. There are all kinds of likes and dislikes in types of games that appeal to some and not others. Since this website we currently are posting to is called “badgehungry” most of us who have been here a long time are here because we’re ‘badge hungry”. We play Pogo games, come here to share tips and hints for playing games and meet great folks… and for a large number of us, we like to earn badges along the way….. to add to our totals. That, you probably won’t get on “any old game site”.

31 MomsBassetHound February 17, 2012 at 4:38 pm

To expand on Cindy’s (#30) post…..If they put the game on Pogo then people do not have to go to another game site to play it.

Just my 2 cents, not worth much in this economy :)

32 Lura February 17, 2012 at 5:00 pm

Erin #26: it does look like Pogo has stopped creating the Club exclusives, but I’m not really sure what their plans are for that.

33 starrynight February 17, 2012 at 7:15 pm

I just played a few rounds on that link Lura provided and I have to say I really enjoyed the game! It’s fun & different from other Pogo games and that “fat” cat is just too cute! Looking forward to seeing it on Pogo! :)

34 habs February 17, 2012 at 8:20 pm

Well put, Cindy! There are a lot of people who consider Daily Hot Shots a waste of Pogo’s apparently limited resources. I’m happy to get a new game, any game, with badge opportunities.

35 Susan February 18, 2012 at 12:49 am

I’d be one of those that thought that!
DHS was awful IMO.

But anyway back on topic, this game looks okay. The badges do look ugly though.

36 CaptHitsugaiya February 18, 2012 at 5:46 am

The devil is the details. What are the rank criterion?

That has kept me from getting serious about Bejeweled 3 and going past rank 21 in Mahjongg Dimensions.

37 kiki February 18, 2012 at 10:00 am

I think those who have been clamoring for a pachinko-style game will really like this one. Heck, I’m not even a pachinko fan, really, but I do love me some Sushi Cat!

I sometimes think people get confused by the flavor of graphics, writing off a game as “childish” or geared for tots when good scores and mastering levels really takes a lot of strategy and skill. Bright colors and cartoonish characters by no means indicate that a game should be avoided by serious gamers.

Sadly, though, the final rank icon isn’t one that I’ll be sporting for long (if and when). It took me nearly a minute to figure out what it was (without looking at the badge itself). Why the final rank badges always so anticlimactic!?

38 ~*~Bobbi~*~ February 18, 2012 at 11:20 am

I tried this game & its just like the facebook games I dont care for.

PepperGlenwood # 1 What does this have to do with Plinko ? I really like Plinko & when I Googled Plinko it came up with exacly what I thought Plinko was & Sushi Cati isnt Plinko so I am confused.(?).maybe another game took the plinko name? Just asking , Not Arguing

Erin #26 I agree. The games Pogo is now bringing are from other sites.
If I wanted to play those I would be getting the downloads.
((So Sorry Pogo, but its like having an Advertisement 2 buy a game JMO )))

*+*+*Happy Presidents Day Weekend ! *+*+*
xxx *B*

39 Indy Cindy February 18, 2012 at 12:52 pm

Bobbi – my reference to a plinko style game was simply a reference to dropping something in the top and having it wind it’s way toward the bottom – sort of like the Price is Right game. That’s all.

40 MomsBassetHound February 18, 2012 at 12:58 pm

Every game is not going to appeal to everyone. Just look at any of the weekly badge threads….you have people who love the game, and people who would rather run naked down the street. Multiply that by a million and that is what Pogo has to look forward to with any game.

There are plenty of games that I don’t like and will only play for a badge. And then there are games that I play just for fun that others dislike. You can never please everyone all the time.

41 PepperGlenwood February 18, 2012 at 9:43 pm

Bobbi #38: I think that Indy Cindy answered regarding the Plinko reference, when I checked out the link to play the game instantly reminded me of Plinko on Price is Right. :)

42 swirrrly February 19, 2012 at 12:57 am

Not crazy about the graphics on the badges, but badges are badges. :) My grand daughter has been playing Sushi Cat for awhile so I’ll let her help with ranking up. We’re big Hello Kitty fans so this is similar Japanese kawaii culture. I rather like the game myself… so hopefully it won’t be too difficult to rank up.

43 jncocidz February 19, 2012 at 2:24 pm

looks fun never played it but will have to try it love getting rank badges.

44 Jennzors February 19, 2012 at 4:05 pm

I aM so excited!!! This game is so cute!

45 Ed February 19, 2012 at 5:34 pm

RE: the Plinko references before video games there was also an old Japanese “pinball” type game I remember from the 1970s called Pachinko. Suchi cat reminds me of that concept

46 treesrock4ever February 19, 2012 at 7:18 pm

I love sushi cat! I even got it on my iPod Touch! It is soo much fun! I hope they add some more levels exclusively for Pogo.

47 CaptHitsugaiya February 20, 2012 at 6:24 am

Plinko was/is one of the games used on the classic TV game sow “The Price Is Right”.

Sushi Cat seems to only have 25 levels. Is that it, or will there be more for Pogo?

48 Charlieh February 20, 2012 at 2:11 pm

Eee! When is this out? I can’t wait, you can’t beat a cute, fat cartoon cat & sushi! It’s a pretty fun game, especially when he gets super fat & gets squished between obstacles heh :D
