Pogo Mini snapshot: Pretending it's Springtime.Happy Weekend Everyone!

It’s been a badge-filled week, with the Yahtzee badge that seems to be more time-consuming (and probably more frustrating for most people) than other weekly badges plus the personal challenge marathon — things might be a little quiet around here with all of you working to get all five badges done! If you’re still working on your badges, there are some good hints and tips in the weekly challenge thread.

And don’t forget: if you’d like some company either for completing badges in this week’s games or for ranking up, meet us in the following rooms: First Class Solitaire rooms under the Topics tab that start with the letter “V”, and Yahtzee Party rooms under Wild Mode, Fast Rooms, Temporary Rooms 51050 through 51055.

This weekend’s topic is courtesy of Curtie — expanding on her question (which was just about badges), in which games can you earn badges the fastest, and in which games can you earn tokens the fastest?

See you in the comments!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

I really don’t play games to specifically earn badges, if we’re talking about Rank Badges….so can’t help out there.

But since I just recently earned all the badges and ranked out in Scrabble I KNOW you can earn the MOST tokens in that game, lol With JP spins anywhere from 1,000 to 5,000 as the norm, it’s easily the fastest token earner!!! I LOVE that game and still play it even though there are no more ranks or badges for me to earn. One day I got curious about it and started to play and was hooked big time! :) Wasn’t able to stop until I ranked out…that’s a game that will keep you up all night!

Now if I can just figure out what “Ratings” means I might be able to play “Rated” game, hahaha You’d think that since I’ve ranked out I’d at least be “rated”, huh? Maybe you have to play people? Is that it?

I like beating the bots alot more!! :) Such satisfaction in beating them, ROFL

Have a wonderful weekend. :) Hope you have great weather too.

Lura, hope you, hubby and the baby are all doing well. Wish we could see a pic of that little boy!! I know he’s a darlin’ !!

Take care, be safe everyone.

(((Hugs to ALL)))

Oddly enough I found that the Deluxe games were easier to rank and badge in than their club pogo counterparts. Weeklies? well just when I would think one game was easy they’d throw in a monster or hard badge to get so think that nulls that out eventually. As far as tokens, I think that World Class Solitaire is the best, mainly for the fact that everything bonus wise gets counted in the 100s. there are even plenty of times when JP spins end up more than 500. At least if you lose a game it quickly sends you to the next.

Zigg 02.26.10 at 3:09 pm

P.S. I think it helps if you enjoy the game to be able to do the badges better and faster too. :-)

booboo2 02.26.10 at 3:12 pm

The bloop Secret badge might be the fastest. After that the Jigsaw detective badges are very easy. Also Kenopop, Wonderland memories, Panda Pai Gow, Harvest Mania (all took me under a week to rank out in) then I would have to say most games up to the first rank badge. It’s probably designed that way to lure people in. As far as tokens, Qwerty, Pogo Addiction, Canasta seem to be usual consensus picks for tokens but I’m sure someone will find something else.

PlatoPluto 02.26.10 at 3:16 pm

Love this site, been reading for over a year now, but never made a comment! I have enjoyed learning from others and appreciate all the hard work by Lura.

KenoPop is by far the easiest game to rank out in, I beleive. No challenges, just click and keep on clicking, lol. I ranked out playing one hour a day within 3 weeks!
Good luck everyone!

jaredph 02.26.10 at 3:29 pm

Hi everyone!

Just finished my last of this week’s badges (yahtzee, of course lol). Kenopop is one of the best games for tokens. My payback percentage in there is 190% (with 100 token wagers, that’s a 90 token gain every time I play a new game). It’s not too annoying, as long as you don’t have to get shared bonuses lol. Other big token games include yahtzee, TP, CC, and Pai Gow. I also have to remind myself to click the scrabble link on the free tokens page (hint hint).

Good luck everyone!

Happy Weekend All…

I have found that it is easy/quick to rank out in Hog Heaven and Keno Pop…no skill involved, of course! And of course Spooky Slots, with just 10 ranks…LOL!

As for amassing tokies quickly…Qwerty, Scrabble and Addiction Solitaire seem to offer generous payouts.

And Kat, “rated” Scrabble games, like all other rated games on POGO, must be played against another human being, not the bots!

Happy badge marathon weekend from sunny Denver, sorry all you East coasters are buried under the white stuff again.

AnotherJan 02.26.10 at 3:44 pm

As far as getting the most tokens in a short period of time, I would definitely have to say Trivial Pursuit and Crossword Cove. In less than 15 minutes you can rack up over 25,000 tokens. Of course if you get lucky in Keno Pop, you can also get tokens fast.

Not sure about which game you can rank up the fastest in.

I haven’t made any comments since Lura had her baby. So Lura, congratulations on your new bundle of joy!!!!!

LURA ROCKS!!!!!

9

MomsBassetHound 02.26.10 at 3:46 pm

Kat – You have to play a real person to play any rated game.

I know that nobody wants to hear this, but the tokens are good in Yahtzee.

I’ve also been on a roll in Monpoly Slots. I’ve gone from rank 17 to 39 in less than 2 weeks and am up almost 600,000 tokens from this game in a short amount of time. I’ve been playing this while watching the Olympics since I can watch TV and just hit the space bar :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Kat8mouse 02.26.10 at 4:34 pm

Beaker Creatures is a fast rank game once you get the hang of it.

Crossword Cove and Trivial Puruit have the best tokens, in my opinion ;)

11

Jan in Denver 02.26.10 at 4:38 pm

Jan solidarity here. I agree with AnotherJan that TP and Crossword Cove have some of the best fastest tokens. And, I haven’t even been using the handy answers provided here in BH so I could be doing even better!

As for badges it seems to me that fastest have to be Jigsaw Detective and WordSearch Daily. It doesn’t matter your rank, it takes the same amount of puzzles to get each badge and there is 1 for every rank/month. If you do an easy WS puzzle in around 2 minutes then you have a badge in around 1 hour.

Fastest topic #3 – ranking up. I agree with Hog Heaven and Keno Pop – no skill, just keep clicking and broken piggy banks and balls dropping in to numbers seem to happen quite regularly. For skill I would have to say Beaker Creatures. If your brain can recognize all sames or all differents easily then you can chain perfect scores together so it only takes a handful of games to move up in rank.

Thanks to MomsBassetHound for the suggestion about playing slots during the Olympics. I’ve completed a couple M&M badges watching this past week. I have a laptop with a wireless mouse so I just sit the laptop off to the side, flip my mouse over, and just keep clicking.

Final comment: I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed chatting with some of you in the BH rooms!

12

Gecko 02.26.10 at 4:42 pm

I thought Bingo Luau was easiest to rank in – blackout and sharing and really nice people when I was playing. If you just want fast badges, don’t forget about Word Search Daily – every 30 puzzles is a new State themed badge and rank. Besides games like TP, I think Hog Heaven has really good token payouts.

LOL Speaking of winning percentages I was called out the other day in a certain downloaded game room for having too high of win statistics. At first I was completely confused and then I realized something – the person accusing me of not being on the up and up was only rank 7… I’m almost rank 30 and it isn’t a fast ranking game by any measure. LOL, I wonder if you play A LOT MORE if you might get better at a skill game? Maybe? Maybe? I thought a few of you here might get a good laugh.

Take care all of you under snow and please send some back to the Midwest where we have a snow drought in the works!

13

don 02.26.10 at 5:02 pm

Tokens can be had fairly easy in Trivia, Crossword, Keno Pop, Scrabble and yes, even Word Craft. I just made it to 1 year at Pogo, and have yet to figure out what advantage you get for “ranking out” or getting a high rating in the rated games. Is it bragging rights, or maybe the badges that come as you progress in rank? Hmmmm, may have just answered my own question….afterall we are all “badge hungry”. Have a good weekend all….even those still working on yahtzee.

14

don 02.26.10 at 5:03 pm

P s…forgot a good one for tokens…Yahtzee

15

evanka11 02.26.10 at 5:09 pm

I’d say Trivial Pursuit, Hog Heaven, and Crossword Cove give me the most tokens.

Ranking changes as you move up in a game — some games that seem to be progressing you quickly in the beginning slow down a lot later (Thousand Island especially).

16

Lily 02.26.10 at 5:12 pm

beakers creatures is highly under rated. when i first got addicted i moved to rank 10 in a matter of hours on easy. then i stopped playing. recently i started playing again on hard difficulty and ranked out in like 3 or 4 days. you need a certain amount of rank points to advance and on hard level u get 9 rank points, so you can reach each rank in 5-9 games depending on how many points needed, just look at lura’s rank chart for beakers creatures.

17

Austin 02.26.10 at 5:14 pm

Greetings all,

For the most part, I would say Keno-Pop and Hog-Heaven Slots are some of the few games on Pogo where you can gain a substantial amount of tokens.

The badges question is really difficult to answer mainly because of one’s playing style and if they prefer the game or not.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and stay safe :)

Megan 02.26.10 at 5:42 pm

No Limit Hold’em is a great token game if you’re good at poker! And it’s pretty quick to rank up in too. But the downside is that you can lose a lot of tokens just as fast.

19

jaredph 02.26.10 at 6:09 pm

Speaking of ranks, Lura, are there any plans to add Puck’s Peak to the “game ranks and badges” page on here?

Don: there are some games that give you extra features for ranking up. For example, more pucks and levels in Puck’s Peak, double wilds in Everyone Wins Bingo, extra powerups in Battleship, etc. These are usually found in the help section on a game.

20

Jillian 02.26.10 at 6:12 pm

I agree with all that Crossword Cove, TP, Scrabble, Jigsaw Puzzle, and Monopoly Slots will get you the most tokens. Although, MomsBassetHound (#9) how are you getting dice to rank so fast in Monopoly Slots? I love that game and play all the time. I have won a lot of tokens but I am still at rank 34. Apparently, the dice disappear when I show up.

I have been with Pogo for several years but only joined Club Pogo last April. My token amount shot up after joining, especially when I found this site with all the free token offers. I am not much for chatting when I get in the rooms (shyness maybe?) but I have enjoyed your site and all the comments, especially the game tips shared by all. Thank you!

Wonderland Memories is the easiest game to earn game rank badges. I think I earned three or four of them after several hours of gameplay. Granted, I’m not even halfway done with the game, but it’s still an easy play.

As for tokens, I give it to two games. Fast tokens can come from Trivial Pursuit (7,000 per game for a perfect score, plus the 15,000 weekly bonus). Likewise, Yahtzee! provides good token payouts if you’re in the room long enough to get the room bonus.

Whenever there would be a game involving slots (Monopoly Slots especially!), I’d run to Yahtzee! to regain the tokens lost. Monopoly Slots seems to be a negative token game, as I leave there with less tokens than I arrived.

22

Lura 02.26.10 at 7:05 pm

jaredph: yes, I should have that added soon. I’m just really behind on site updates (and email too). :)

23

MeganM 02.26.10 at 7:06 pm

I have found Trivial Pursuit to be my #1 place for token payoff, also Thousand Island Solitaire, Tri-Peaks and Crossword Cove. Easiest badge has to be for me WordSearch because it’s only a minute or so of my time each day and always one badge every 30 days. I’ve not found any game that I would consider “fast” to rank up in, but maybe it’s because my attention span is so short and I can’t play one game hour after hour, LOL. KenoPop, HogHeaven and Everyone Wins Bingo were pretty easy to rank up in.

Thanks for the tips from everyone, I will try some of these games as I really do covet those game award badges!

24

Dave 02.26.10 at 7:09 pm

I got a question? Why is the US and UK version of Crossword Cove different? Dave

25

MomsBassetHound 02.26.10 at 7:19 pm

Jillian # 20 – For the past 12 days I have been getting the dice an average of 3 times and hour. I think that they have made it easier to get the dice, but not everyone agrees with me :) I’ve been playing from 3 to 7 hours a day. Once the Olympics are over I will go back to playing something else, and will finish when the summer Olympics are in London….LOL

And only 1 day have I lost tokens (30,000), but I’ve had a couple of days where I’ve been ahead 100,000. I tend to stay in 1 room. I’m also trying to play in a room by myself since I’m not watching the chat area.

Suz

26

MomsBassetHound 02.26.10 at 7:25 pm

For Dave # 24 – It could be b/c they spell some words differently. Color is spelled colour in the UK. That’s the one that comes to mind at the moment. And their puzzles are aimed at things that are more familiar to them. I know I wouldn’t be any good at doing a puzzle where the answers were about UK events, landmarks, people, or TV….not that I’m any good at the US puzzles….LOL

Suz

27

Frank 02.26.10 at 7:33 pm

#24 Dave. There’s a UK and US version of Crossword Cove probably because of the geocentric aspect of it, akin to Trivial Pursuit. Some of the puzzles in Crossword Cove are more geared to culture in the UK, similar to the puzzles in Trivial Pursuit.

I’ve tried playing some of the UK Trivial Pursuit games without Badge Hungry’s assistance and I can get some of them, but I’m a total blank when it comes to their rugby or soccer questions. I’m sure the UK folk feel the same way when playing the US version.

So, in effect, the same would hold true for many people with Crossword Cove.

28

Pat 02.26.10 at 8:10 pm

I agree with the comments of best tokens to include TP and CC, among others. keno Pop and Hog Heaven do seem to rank up quickly.

There are 3 downloads that I would also recommend for fast play, entertainment and quick rank out : these would be Lottso! Deluxe, Word Riot Deluxe, and Pictureka For Pictureka, you do need good eyesight or great glasses..as for diner dash, am sorry I bought it, I may never get that done..

29

nessa 02.26.10 at 8:12 pm

Hi all ! Happy weekend !
For me the easiast games to rank out were beaker creatures, keno pop and all the slot games, but I think is easy to rank out in dice city roller and jungle gin.
As for tokens , I think trivial, thanks to Lura and BH, is the game where you can win the most if we consider time spent playing, only few minutes a day. I have to say the other game where you can win big and quick is Texas Holdem, if you play in a super rollers room and if you play a No Fold game you can leave the table with over 1 million just for winning 3 or 4 hands in a row (wich is possible) in about, lets say 15 minutes, but…BUT you can lose that much or even a lot more in no time too.

30

WilliamPorygon 02.26.10 at 10:09 pm

The best games for getting tokens, in my opinion:
- Yahtzee Party: Thanks to the Super Yahtzee rounds you can usually get 10K+ per hour easily, even if you’re not getting any good dice rolls. Just make sure you play in a room that stays full or near it so the Super Yahtzee happens more often.
- KenoPop: The amounts vary, but you’ll gain several thousand an hour on average without even having to pay much attention.
- Word Whomp: Once you’ve played it enough you start remembering the odder words Pogo uses, making it easier to get all the words almost every time. Then it’s a quick 300-400 every couple minutes.
- Turbo 21: Can usually get 400 or so tokens from the bonus round (every 4th spin), and the main game payoff is good too (especially if you get a good deck and get to the +500 and +1000 levels)
- QWERTY: 1 token per point = 1,000+ tokens for winning a 1,000 point game, and plenty even if you lose. And if you play against the computer games don’t take too long.
- Diner Dash: If you have the downloadable Pogo version, the token payouts in it are rather high (you can get over 1000 for a 5-10 minute round on the higher levels).
- Trivial Pursuit and Crossword Cove: Though these ones are limited, if you’re caught up on them you can only get one a day.

In many games (especially single player games) the dreaded “token limiter” will kick in and you’ll receive less tokens than the game says you are receiving, with no indication this is happening unless you’re looking at your token count and notice it’s going up by less than it should. The way the system works, is that it goes by how long you’ve been in the room and how many tokens you’ve earned in the current session. So if you’re finding a particular game does this to you frequently one way around it would be to “park” in the room for an hour or two before you intend to play. (I know some people frown upon room parking, but it’s not in violation of any Pogo rules, and I do try to be courteous by avoiding parking in rooms that are full or likely to become full.) If you’re fast enough you will eventually “catch up” and start getting zapped by the limiter again, but it’ll take a lot longer to happen.

31

WilliamPorygon 02.26.10 at 10:15 pm

Re #24 Dave: The US site uses American-style crosswords and the UK site uses British-style crosswords. In American-style crosswords all words are fully interlocked (that is, every white square is part of both an across and down answer) while British crosswords use a “framework” style (i.e. many of the letters are only part of a single answer).

Serena 02.27.10 at 12:45 am

I pretty much agree with what most everyone said. Trivial Pursuit and Crossword Cove do give you the most tokens, but you are limited in how many you can do. As for Word Whomp, I’m still not too good in that game.

Say, how many of you have played Blackjack Carnival? Is it just my imagination, or do the odds seem to be skewed in favour of the dealer? I usually like to do the highest wager on most of the casino games – but, on that particular one, I find that I do better on the lowest wager. Otherwise, I lose lots of tokens. On the other hand, I do much better in Casino Island Blackjack – and they give you some handy power-ups.

I got a question for everyone? How many of you care about the win percentage in your stats? At which point in the game do you usually start caring? Obviously, in the slot games and some of the solitaire games, you can’t do much about it – but, in some of the others, you can win almost every game (once you master the skill).

I’m already caring about the win percentage in my Flower Daze stats.

33

Bill 02.27.10 at 12:51 am

The games through which I have earned the most tokens the quickest are World Class Solitaire, Addiction Solitaire, and Yahtzee.

For those lucky souls who are done with this week’s badges, you can make one of next week’s easier by starting on it now… One of the badges is for KenoPop, and requires you to play 25 power ups. You can store 9 (3 of each) in the places to keep them, so you could effectively do over 1/3 of the badge early if you wanted to by filling your power up area now.

34

jan 02.27.10 at 1:03 am

Kat,
Part of the rating for Scrabble has to do with joining the orginization that Scrabble enthusiasts are in. It’s an extra fee and it will give you an extra badge on Pogo. You are then bound by not only Poge TOS but the Scrabble group as well if you are playing a rated game. I am not completely clear on the ratings situation but I do remember all the talk about the badge and the extra cost to join another group to play a game on Pogo when Scrabble was introduced. Yes, it means playing against people but I don’t think a rated game in scrabble is the same as a rated game anywhere else in Pogoland. The last I looked at the rooms there were special rooms for this group to play rated games.

Sorry, I don’t remember the specifics more clearly but I hope this helps a bit. I think the group is National Scrabble Association?

35

Adam 02.27.10 at 3:56 am

It’s weeks like these that make me feel like Pogo has become a total waste of time. Seriously. I am going quit Pogo. Every couple years an internet addiction grows out of control and this has definitely become one of them. Sorry.

36

twttr 02.27.10 at 7:46 am

fast badges depend on the challenge not the game.
tokens tend to depend on your skill level, but, fast tokens for me are at Pogo Addiction Solitare, Keno Pop,Monopoly Slots, and all poker games at the high roller level.

37

KellyNOhio 02.27.10 at 8:42 am

William #30: Boy, I wish I knew about that parking deal with Hangman Hijinx (or however it is spelled!). That game ripped me off on tokens. I’m ranked out now, so I don’t intend to play it unless for a weekly challenge badge, but that is one game that after 2 jps doesn’t give the tokens it says it does!

38

Dannie 02.27.10 at 9:39 am

I think the fastest game I ranked out in was the to-go game PICTUREKA! Museum Mayhem. I wish they would make this one a regular Pogo game as I would love to have weekly and MnM challenges in it.

39

MomsBassetHound 02.27.10 at 9:50 am

For Serena #32 – I used to be a dealer in Atlantic City and the odds are ALWAYS in the dealer’s favor. The reason for that is b/c the dealer has to follow certain rules. Players can split pairs, double down, hit a hard 17….just a few things that a dealer can not do. I’ve ranked out in both blackjack games and don’t remember there being much of a difference.

sog 02.27.10 at 10:34 am

Here are the #s for TP – im showing max potential eaernings

Game Tokens – tokies earned playing – 2200
Accuracy Bonus – (1000, all right / 2500, perfect) – 2500
Episode Bonus – for completing the days wedge – 3000
Bonus Wedge – 7th wedge, 7th day, sunday – 15,000

So if u r very good, or use the answers, u can get 7700/day 69,000/wk
in five minutes. Takes me @ten minutes (TV OFF TY), & i get@ 4100/dy 44,000/wk.

When playing ‘catch up’ u can play as many as u want, all of 2009, and lose only the Episode Bonus- so 48,000/wk instead of 69,000 , which takes maybe an hour. JPS are under 100, so i mention them last. My average slowly gets better due to repeat Q’s.

Lura, you look like you are ready for spring, BH isa great site, so glad a friend told me @ it. I have metioned it to a few.

I usually read the rules in games, bc while some arent very good, there r others that have good instructions, and even tips. Also, now i am here at BH b4 i start abadge challenge. So many helpful people with useful tips hints and reminders. Tks JARED #6

Thanyou, Lura
gl e1, :)

41

sog 02.27.10 at 10:46 am

oh, and Lura, just a thought, how about meeting BH players in every game every wk. For example: I want to play TP, i go to a ‘topics’ ‘V’ rm to play, this wk.

Also, everyone pls remember in Trivial Pursuit, you must open the chat window yourself. I ususally say something to room b4 and after i play, and between games if i play more than one.

bye all

Karen 02.27.10 at 10:51 am

I’m not sure which badges are fastest, but as a token whore, here are my recommendations for earning the most:
1. Trivial Pursuit: a perfect game will earn you more than 7,000 tokens, and on Sundays, more than 30,000 tokens. It helps to have the answers. Thanks, Lura. ;)
2. Crossword Cove: a decent round will earn you from 3,500 to 4,000+. Be sure to get the special words early in the game. Thanks again, Lura.
3. Scrabble: gives great spins if you win.
4. Yahtzee: Select a room with 9 or more people so the Super Yahtzee feature fills up fast. You can earn about 10,000 tokens an hour just off Super Yahtzee winnings.
5. Lost Temple Poker: You can win tokens even with a bad hand, and even if you risk tokens to play this game, you win more than you lose.
6. Hog Heaven slots: Risky, but it often pays well. The trick is to record your token total before playing and set a fixed amount you’re willing to lose. If you reach that amount–either choose a new room or get the heck out of that game.
7. Monopoly slots. See Hog Heaven- only worse! It’s expensive to spin, so watch your token count carefully. But you can win beaucoup tokes in this aggravating game.
On days when I don’t have much work to do, I try to shoot for 50,000 tokes a day. It’s not that hard when you take advantage of high paying games and the free tokens you often find on this excellent site.

hi e1 hope ya all having a great wkend, well after accumalating over 64,000,000 tokies over the past 6 yrs, deduct tokies for minis badges ect, id have to say games like canasta, texas high risk one, monopoly slots, addiction, trival, crossword are the best ones if ur after a good ton of tokies,as for which games u get badges quicker does depend on skill and how many hrs a day ya prepared to work on it.

bill thats wat im gonna do to in keno b4 challenges

Bomber 02.27.10 at 11:02 am

Kat F. – To play a rated Scrabble game you have to play in an NSA room, those are the only rooms where you play rated games. I am in there quite frequently, my pogo name is BronxBomberDE … would love to play sometime!

45

mspatmac 02.27.10 at 11:37 am

Good day all. I have earned the most tokens in Monopoly slots and Trival Persuit. The crossword game and Hog Heaven are great for tkens too. I think it’s easier to rank up in games you really enjoy playing rather than one your plang just for ranks. Tri Peaks is my example, I always enjoyed playing and always came back to. It took awhile, but I did manage to rank out.

A bit off topic but I read in the forum yesterday that there is a bug in Flower Daze and which makes the hard level a bit to easy to win and there will be a fix shortly. The designer did say that they don’t want to make it too hard but it sounds like it will be more difficult once the fix is made. Guess I better play as much as I can before it gets too hard. Have a nice weekend and happy playing!

48

sandy z 02.27.10 at 11:43 am

ppl have pretty much covered the good token games …. my list of faves for tokens:

definitely TP and CC every day for max tokens, too bad you can’t get more tokens for repeat play

keno pop ……… best tokens and easiest ranking hands down because you can play all day unlike trivia and crossword only once per day

several excellent word games …..if you are good with words mega tokens to be had …. word whomp, word craft and hangman hijinks

tip****** to avoid the token limiter, watch your tokens and when pogo starts not paying out, just reload the room and you’ll be fine again. The word whomp limiter doesn’t take long to start if you are really fast.

ppl always say they win millions in poker …. i find this hard to believe but there are GREAT tokens to be had in lost temple poker and panda pai gow.

Yahtzee and canasta pretty decent tokens but i can’t play either for hours at a time!

To me a great token game pays out at least 10K per hour …. i can get that in the above games. Decent tokens at least 5K per hour.

Pat: have you tried the trick of inviting yourself to the game room? You can do it through the message system: Choose New Invitation, send it to yourself, choose the game and the room name you want, and voila — it’ll send you a link you can click on any time to enter the room. :)

Hello again,

THANKS so much for the info on the Rated Scrabble games. I had no idea how that was done…but now I do! :)

Was glad to hear someone give tips on avoiding that DANGED OL’ Token Limiter!! Why are we penalized because we are fast or very good?? THAT IS SIMPLY NOT FAIR!! :( I know it’s because some use those “thingys” we aren’t supposed to mention, but geeeezzz, not all of us do!! Why punish us all?? Plus, what about that Badge in Poppit where you are to pop ALL the balloons, THREE Games in a row?? HUH, HUH?? How can they issue a Badge like that and NOT CREDIT ALL YOUR TOKENS??? Is that fair? NOOOO!! And the Word Games are worse about it!! I’m gonna try those tips for sure! Hope I don’t get a “parking ticket”, lol

Whew!! I feel so much better :) Thanks for letting me rant for a sec, lol

So many of you have listed games that really hand out the tokens..games that I’d forgotten about. Will have to go back and start playing them again, ROFL Can we say Tokie Hound?

One tip for Monopoly Slots that I use: Play in a Room by YOURSELF. The dice come up about every 10-14 mins at least! Sometimes more! It’s really cool to see it happen, lol You can actually befriend them, hahahaha

Take care, be safe. Stay OUT of the yellow snow, :)

(((Hugs to ALL)))

OK, now I feel pretty dumb here. Several people mentioned a “Token Limiter.” HUH? I really don’t understand what you mean by Token Limiter and never noticed that I did not receive the tokens I actually won.

Could someone please explain this for me?

Thank you.

LURA ROCKS!!!!!

Dice City Roller was easy to rank out in.

56

NLinda 02.27.10 at 5:06 pm

I guess I must not pay attention, I’ve never noticed nor heard about a ‘token limiter’ before, would someone please fully explain it? When does it kick in, on all games or just some etc.? If tokies are limited, when you look at the ttl tokens won on the stats page is that showing what you have actually won or what you should have won if it wasn’t limited?

57

DebbieSLP 02.27.10 at 5:33 pm

I had forgotten about Keno Pop and thought I’d try it for tokens. My luck has not been too good so far. About 6000 tokens in the first hour, which does not seem like a lot for a “high token” game. However, it is one you can play while doing something else, and at some point I’m sure you get a couple of lucky turns. I get skunked (zero matches) or just one match a bit too often!

I’ll keep at it and see how quickly I can rank up, and also stock up some powerups for the badge next week. BTW, is it best to save the powerups and use a bunch them all together?

Generally my favorites for getting lots o’ tokens are TP and CC, Scrabble, and Yahtzee. When I’m feeling lucky, Monopoly Slots! :D

58

Jenn M 02.27.10 at 6:37 pm

I would have to agree that Keno Pop, Monopoly Slots, and Hog Heaven offer the best payouts over time.
WCS has nice jackpot spins, and you can win the hand more often then not compared to FCS.

Also, I’m not sure who mentioned it … the tip about playing Monopoly Slots in an empty room … wow … I thought that a full room or empty room didn’t matter for getting dice … but I have gotten so many dice rooms (some even back-to-back) being in a room by myself.
However, to anyone whose tried this … did you notice the dice rolls were low, or am I just unlucky (I got 4 dice in about 20 minutes, but the roll on each was 3).

Hope everyone is having a better weekend then me – sick with a flu of sorts – though, I’m helping a BH reader with a badge tomorrow … and I’m a bit excited about that! ^_^

WilliamPorygon 02.27.10 at 6:53 pm

Re #54 & #56: Basically the “token limiter” is what it sounds like, it limits how many tokens you can receive from a particular game during a particular length of time. Whenever it’s mentioned to Pogo they always claim it’s intentional to deter auto/cheating players (even though it really doesn’t do that at all). It can happen in most single-player games that don’t involve wagering tokens (it generally doesn’t happen in multiplayer games or betting games). Usually the ones it causes trouble for legitimate players in are ones where you can earn a lot in a short time (Hangman, all the Word Whomp games, Turbo 21 are ones that I usually run into it in.) Basically when it kicks in it just gives you less tokens than the game says you earned (like the game says you win 450 tokens and it actually awards you 200 or some other number). The stats show how many tokens you actually received and not what you were supposed to get. In fact if you’re doing a challenge to earn so many tokens it will also slow your progress there too.

To see the effects, open a calculator application and Hangman Hinjinks (the game the limit is the worst in). Put your number of tokens in the calculator, and after every game add the number it says you won in the calculator. Especially on medium or hard, it probably won’t take long for the tokens shown in the upper right corner to become less than the number on your calculator.

Most people who are aware of the limiter are against it, for obvious reasons (gyps legit players, those who are going to cheat continue to do so anyway), but Pogo refuses to change it. :(

60

jaredph 02.27.10 at 7:19 pm

William #59: I agree. Even if they leave the “token limiters” on, people who use autos or cheat some other way will always find a way to get an unfair advantage, especially in the casino games (think monopoly slots, kenopop). (I have a suspicion that they used to have one on crossword cove before everyone got mad and they took it off.)

Debbie #57: Make sure you’re betting the maximum: 10 numbers and 10 tokens (the bet meter at the top should say 100). Don’t worry; the tokens add up fast in there (#6).

rabbitandkitty #46.
I just quickly went to play boggle bash to ask about the icons you mention because I too wonder what they are for……no-one in the room had any idea so I am still no wiser….but…I did learn something new in chat. When the round has started and the chat is disabled you can still chat and be seen if you type /e then what you want to say.
I’ll keep trying to find out though when I play and let you know when/if I ever find out….lol

62

Lisa (thirty7ave) 02.27.10 at 7:56 pm

I have found that it is easy/quick to rank out in Hog Heaven, Keno Pop and Spooky Slots…Nothing that makes me think…LOL

Still working on Yahtzee..:0(

Good luck everyone…Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

63

DebbieSLP 02.27.10 at 8:15 pm

William, thanks for your explanation of token limiters. I play Hangman Hijinks a lot (on medium) and thought I was just missing something. I had no idea about limiters, like most people, I think! Quel Domage!

I gave Keno Pop another 2 1/2 hours, while we watched a movie I wasn’t really interested in. I’ve been betting max right along, and changing rooms when I had really dry streaks (about every hour), but still…. my luck has just gotten worse. About 4000 tokens the second hour, slightly less the third hour. I got one five-match this last half hour, but overall still not many good turns. Lots of one- and two-match turns (which means a net loss), very few multipliers going in, and JP spins of 25, 50 most of the time. I use the auto-select, but is there a strategy for which numbers you place your bets on? I can’t see any pattern to where the balls fall, and I imagine it’s supposed to be random.

The charm has about worn off, but I did collect some powerups for next Wednesday.

That little percentage-won stat you get at the end of a round peaked at 199, then has gone steadily down to about 165%. Anyone ever break 200%, or is this pretty average?

I’m going to try Monopoly Slots in my own room and see if I can get lucky with dice. If not, back to Scrabble!

But that will wait until tomorrow — the Olympics are back on! :-)

64

Rick 02.27.10 at 8:37 pm

Did anyone else buy the retiring 10 pack?

I found a few tips. In Fortune Bingo, if you don’t want to play the game for real, go in the fast room, 6 cards room and just daub all the numbers. Then when the game is over, you’ll get credit for the correct ones. Of course, you will not earn any tokens, but it will complete the badge faster. If you are lucky and watching, you can try to call bingo and hope you get lucky. You’ll average over 100 each game, sometimes a little more. Or, you can just play!

For Makeover Madness, use the Mind Control powerup. It seems to let you serve more customers. Also, the higher the level, the more money you’ll make, but be aware, insane is just that, insane!

I don’t know if it’s just that I’m really bad at poker or what, but it took me a long time to win with Full houses or better 6x.

Anyway, happy weekend, everyone.

mary 02.27.10 at 9:05 pm

ranking out in monoply is easy, play with two people, buy all you can as soon as you can then both player morgage you can play forever Pass go for the ranking up Will get to rank 100 in no time. when you get tired one player unmorgages their propties and one goes bankrupt

66

NLinda 02.27.10 at 9:23 pm

Thank you for the explanation re ‘token limiter’ #59 WilliamPorygon. Seems to me Pogo should get into trouble for something like false advertising if they say you won say 400 tokies and only give you 200. Probably one of the reasons I’ve never noticed it, I don’t usually play the games mentioned other than for badges. Next time I’m in one of those games though I’m going to do the calculator thing to see what happens.

A lot of folks have mentioned spelling games this weekend, does anyone use ‘Anagram Artist’ to help out in spelling games? It is a free download and I’ve found it to be quite helpful at times in some of those spelling games.

Thanks for all the good tips and general info e1! Hope e1 is having a great weekend and once again a BIG THANK YOU to LURA for hosting this site!!!!

Sheljin 02.28.10 at 1:32 am

Hi, all – hope everyone is having a good weekend. I’m not really sure which badges come easiest for me – probably as someone else said, the games that are easiest for me to play – skill, not luck! lol Actually, I take that back – I can do the Turbo 21 personals pretty fast and have often repeated them just for the tokens, or if I only have 30 minutes late on Tuesday night to get a badge in. lol

I agree with most about TP, CC, Keno, etc. I have gotten big payouts with HH too, but othertimes not so good. For someone who asked, I was over 200 for awhile in Keno, but slowly fell back to 190/191 and there it sits. I do feel I won way more tokens as I was ranking up than I do now. It may be a game that needs you to sit there awhile. One thing I always did in Keno was to pick numbers and stick with them. I never used the auto-pick.

(I found that method worked best in Big Shot Roulette too. I have won 11 million tokens in Big Shot Roulette on a non-club name over the years – no auto, just me and my little fingers clicking away. lol But you always stick to the same numbers……always. lol That is a game I’m still mad that they won’t put ranks on, or even give us one lousy badge. grrrr Pogo!)

Keno was a fast ranker-upper. lol I also found DCR fast – but I love love love that game also. OTOH, I love love love Bowling too and the last ranks in there take forever! lol I do find Beaker fast, but then forget about it – thanks again for reminder. Also, thanks Bill #33 for Keno tip for next week…….if I ever get around to this week’s badges, I will definitely try that too.

Serena #32 – it is not just you, Blackjack Carnival pays out horrible. So did the old blackjack game before it. As Moms said, IRL it always favors the house. But this *is* Pogo, and it burns me that they make it so tilted, IMO. I mean, this is for fun and tokens afterall. For instance, they give you tips to follow, but when you do, most times they make you lose anyway. lol I must be missing something in how to play Panda Pai Gow – have always found that a poor winner for me too.

Rick #64 – I bought the album awhile ago, not on sale. grrrr lol If memory serves me, I still need that poker badge – so not just you. lol

Thanks to all who asked and all who answered about the token limiters – I also had never heard of such a thing, and had never noticed it either. Grrr again Pogo! lol

About UK versus US Crossword Cove: I had noticed the different board configuration, but – for me – UK CC is way harder. I love crosswords and solve the US version on my own. But I always use the answers here for the UK version. Dang those Brits, being smarter than us colonials! lollll

Someone also asked if people care about stats – I do, for games I care about. lol I will use undo over & over to solve an Aces Up game, for instance – I very very very rarely ever have to leave a hand unfinished in that game and I take pride in it. I take pride in Thousand Island also, and Makeover Madness. Others, I don’t really care about. I absolutely care about MGM, but had to learn to let it go when the game just decides to lock up and I end up having to abandon the game.

I know this is off topic and for that I am sorry but I was wondering if someone can help me out here. I have been trying to play the new flower daze and my screen resolution is set to where it needs to be…. the game starts to load and it gets to as far as when the java sign thingy spins around like all the other pogo games do and then it stops at the white screen that says “please wait… loading…. “then it reboots itself and starts over……my question is does anyone know why it is doing that and if there is anything i can do to make it work properly….. thanks in advance…..

70

Serena 02.28.10 at 7:31 am

Since this weekends topic is about ranks and badges – awhile back, I had made of Pogo games that don’t have ranks or in-game badges:

Dice Derby *one of two only Club Pogo Exclusive games to not have ranks*
Greenback Bayou *the other of two only Club Pogo Exclusive games to not have ranks*
3-Point Showdown
All-Star Football
All-Star Football Challenge
Backgammon
Bridge
Checkers
Command & Conquer™: Armored Attack
Command & Conquer™: Attack Copter
Cribbage
Double Deuce Poker
EA SPORTS™ Web Soccer
Euchre
High Stakes Poker
High Stakes Pool
It’s Outta Here 2!
Jacks or Better Poker
Jokers Wild Poker
Keno
NASCAR® Web Racing
Pebble Beach® 3 Hole Challenge
Pebble Beach® Golf
Perfect Passer
PGA TOUR® Golf
Quick Shot
Sci-Fi Slots
Showbiz Slots
Showbiz Slots II
Swashbucks
The Sims™ Pinball
Top Down Baseball Challenge
Vaults of Atlantis Slots
Vert Skater

I didn’t count the games that aren’t fully integrated with Pogo. Also, I would also hazard a guess that there are no plan to add ranks to the EA Sports and EA Games – since there only has ever been one badge (a weekly) for them.

Also, what exactly is a “To Game” – and what makes it different from the downloadable games that have ranks and badges?

Deb #63 I keep the same numbers set in KenoPop and group them in a square pattern. This has worked for me and I quickly ranked out with a decent win percentage.

I just ranked out in TP today and don’t think I’ll keep playing just for the tokens. Like to play Canasta and Phlinx for steady token build ups. The first time I hit 5K’s for 100,00 tokens in HogHeaven, my brain was on auto-pilot and I didn’t even see it happen, lol.

Thanks to all for explaining the token limiter. Didn’t know it existed and have started working the WordWhomp games for rank lately. WIll change strategy!

Deb # 63
you asked about % in Keno … my main acct which has played keno since day 1 I have 201 – 202%

my secondary account which is losing its subway free pass in a couple days is 198% and I have made close to 15 million tokens in the past 6 months on this account, almost all in keno

make sure you use the powerups and i group my numbers close together …. and don’t keep changing the numbers. you will win more if you stick with a set of numbers. i use the secondary account to just click while i multitask. good luck!

Serena #70 – You are missing Big Shot Roulette on your list – and not only does it NOT have ranks or in-game badges, it has never had one badge…..ever. Not weekly, not in an album. I’d give anything for just one teeny-weeny badge……….puhleeze, Pogo????

Can’t say I’m that sad about no ranks in Greenback – I frankly give thanks for that. lol

WilliamPorygon (#59):

Thank you for explaining the Token Limiter. It’s really ridiculous that Pogo does this. I really don’t care if someone uses a cheat program while playing the games and I don’t understand why Pogo and people get their panties in a wad if someone uses them.

Why should anyone care how many tokens someone gets anyway? For the most part, tokens are worthless! Sure you can enter the drawings, but you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than winning any of the drawings. You can also get free mini items with the tokens. Other than that, there isn’t anything else to use the useless tokens on. So Pogo, why do you really care how many tokens we accumulate?

I was in First Class Solitaire the other day and saw one guy who had over 350,000,000 tokens. YES, over 350 MILLION tokens! This guy either sits at the puter 24/7, plays High Stakes Poker a lot and is good at it, or uses a cheat program. Oh, and he joined Pogo in 2006. There were several people in the room who were talking about this person because of his high token count. I was laughing at the comments made. I asked the people in the room why do you care how many tokens he has because they are useless anyway. Of course someone brought up the fact that he’s probably cheating. I said and why do you really care if he’s using a cheat program or not. The discussion kept going back and forth. I finally got tired of messing with them and left the room. LOL At least I got a few laughs out of the conversation.

Lura, maybe this would be a good topic for an Open Thread … “What are your thoughts on people using cheat programs in Pogo?”

LURA ROCKS!!!!!

81

Faith 02.28.10 at 3:14 pm

I do not care if someone uses a cheat program or not, unless it is in a competitive game, such as bowling, where it affects my score and tokens. Then it bothers me, because it has happened to me.

I didn’t realize there were token limiters, but did notice that in Addiction, when you beat the volcano and get 4000 bonus tokens the first time, you never get the total 4000 from that time on beating the volcano. So after beating the volcano I would leave pogo, erase cookies, etc., and go back in and receive the total 4000 bonus again. You have to do it each time.

82

Steph 02.28.10 at 3:37 pm

Lisa#71
Thanks i did try that…..it didn’t work…..thank you for the help tho i appreciate it

sog#73
I’ll check out the forum, find the thread and try there….. thank you…..

83

Serena 02.28.10 at 4:21 pm

Oh, yeah, I did forget to add Big Shot Roulette.

Faith, I have also had that problem in Pogo Addiction Solitaire. Generally, I would get all 4000 tokens the first couple times – but, after that, it would start to gyp me. It’s been some time, though, since I played that game for such a long time in one sitting.

I’m really hoping that they never add ranks and badges to any of the EA Sports or EA Games. Also, it would be nice a more Pogo variant of a pinball machine game.

84

tigger 02.28.10 at 4:25 pm

i personally dont care either, it does not affect me, not my business..i know pogo hates this, but i dont see why they should care, heck ppl pay for their site lol

85

manthasmommie 02.28.10 at 5:49 pm

Deb 63 – I am on rank 30 in KenoPop and have a 257% so far – we’ll see if that changes as I rank farther up.

86

WilliamPorygon 02.28.10 at 7:02 pm

You’re welcome to everyone thanking me for the token limiter explanation.

I’ve played enough KenoPop to probably reach rank 50 a few times over. My overall payback % has generally hovered around 200% lately… it went down to 199% and then I had a big hit (for 40K) and it jumped to 203%.

For badges… if you’re not caught up on Jigsaw Detective it’s easy and takes only a few hours of work to get through a case for a badge, but it’s tedious, especially when you’ve played every puzzle they have a hundred times (it seems like, anyway). KenoPop and Word Riot Deluxe are pretty fast to reach the top rank in. Boggle also goes fast if you’re good at it (can find 45+ words per round), though the 2000 panic flips badge will take a long time.

87

Serena 02.28.10 at 7:09 pm

When I was trying to catch up with Jigsaw Detective, I just picked a puzzle that I liked best – and did it over and over. It’s maybe not something that you want to do – but, for me, it made obtaining the badges go a little faster.

Speaking of which, I’m off to see if the new case is yet up. So, yeah, it’s not a game that you ever quite rank out in – but a badge for each case is nice.

88

Cyrabi 02.28.10 at 7:16 pm

Happy Sunday Everyone! All five of my badges are done, the two weeklies and three personals. I was happy when I got the Yahtzee badge, whould’ve gotten it sooner because several times I was one dice away but it wasn’t a six. I guess the games that are easy to rank up/ get tokens are the ones that don’t have alot of ranks, gifting tokens to other players.

89

sog 02.28.10 at 7:34 pm

hi everyone,
Can some1 tell me how to get to the old, or previous weekly threads, im sure its right in front of me, but 2 weeks and i cant find them!?

steph#82 -pls let me know what happens, im on pogo @6 months now, and have looked at many forums and never saw that, very cool of him.

AnotherJan#80 thank you so much, i laughed & laughed, i have a pogo friend who is obsessed w/ tokies. It’s all good, tho, cause, whats the difference? I probably put @30% of my tokens in the drawings, cause i like to see my token total go up. Same thing. Then theres the ranks and badges (i am not badge hungry, but Badge Hungry is great) ; in life badges and ranks and tokens (money) are frickin important, so now we make it important in games. i care @ my stats in a few games, enjoy playing 4 badges (but,i dont look at them), i like 2 look scroll thru minis in a room often when i enter. so…we play.

And maybe are lucky enuf to have made a friend. i did.

90

Lura 02.28.10 at 7:45 pm

Serena: you’re about an hour early on the new Jigsaw — they come out at 8pm eastern time. :) Pogo used to put the M&M’s up at the same time; I’m hoping they return to that practice soon, it makes things a lot easier on my end!

sog: for weekend threads or for weekly challenge threads? For weekend threads: up there, at the bottom of the original post there’s a “Filed under:” and it links ‘general’. Click that. They’re all filed under general for now, but I plan to put them in their own category eventually. You can also choose ‘general’ from the category dropdown in the right sidebar. Weekly challenges have their own category at the bottom of the dropdown list.

91

Bill 02.28.10 at 7:58 pm

I’m having to push myself to finish this fourth badge, never mind a fifth. I chose the win 75 games Poppit badge from 2003 (finished), and am playing the reach 200 Speed Rounds Word Whomp Whackdown badge from 2003 (150/200 right now). Which badge I select for my fifth will depend on if I finish this one before Tuesday. Right now, my eyes are glazing over.

92

Pat 02.28.10 at 9:12 pm

Bill, if ya want a hint for a quick one, if ya havent done the 98 blooop one –10 horiz matches, that is one i did this week on 2nd account, had a friend and we did first part of the blooop grid, for 10 points or 5 horiz each…2 shorty games and 10 minutes later, game was done…badge was won–quickest one i can think of, so grab a friend and get er done.

93

Pat 02.28.10 at 9:17 pm

Whoops, I am ill, meant 2008 badge and the blooop grid is in right side column. Lol, gl on any you choose.

94

Lura 02.28.10 at 9:19 pm

Thanks as always for participating, everyone.

Don’t forget: We’re still meeting up in the rooms for FCS and Yahtzee. The turnout has been great this week!

See you all next weekend!
