Good morning everyone. Tri-Peaks is not timed, so you don’t have to rush. You can plan out your moves. I haven’t tried Mini Golf yet, but am looking forward to playing.
Staysee 11.11.09 at 9:52 am
35 Wilds seems daunting. I love tri-peaks though, but for someone who doesn’t, this badge could be rough
tigger 11.11.09 at 9:57 am
my only tip would be to play both comfortably and on mini golf, if you want easiest course, warm up would be it…but if you not in any hurry, play whatever course you want, both are not timed..
Chris 11.11.09 at 10:21 am
For Tri-Peaks remember once you get a wild card use it because you wont be able to get another one until the one you have is used.
Rick 11.11.09 at 11:47 am
Does anyone wonder what Pogo is thinking sometimes? Some badges take less than an hour. Some require so much more than that. I know Tri-peaks is a fun game and all but 35 Wild cards isn’t going to be done anytime soon.
Gecko 11.11.09 at 12:27 pm
Wow, I thought at least Tri Peaks would be fun as I like this game, but I’ve been through the whole “adventure” three times and haven’t seen a wild card once. Any hints – I know they seem to show up at the beginning of the game, anything else to note?
Kevin B. 11.11.09 at 12:41 pm
My schedule allows me to play Pogo for about 12 hours a week . When I saw the requirement for the Tri-Peaks badge, I knew there’s no chance I’ll even try it. I’ve played the game enough to know how often wild cards come out, and how long it takes to make a pass completely to the last treasure chest.
I know Pogo wants to keep us glued in our seats, but I’ll pass. Sorry, Pogo.
Lura 11.11.09 at 12:42 pm
Gecko: just be patient. I’m getting about one per game or “adventure” as you call it, but it’s not guaranteed of course. Of the four chests on the screen (and the 6 milestones in the adventure), only the first 3 have a chance of giving you a wild and I’m sure they all have an equal chance.
I’m loving this challenge. It’s *challenging* enough that I’m going to have to devote some serious time to playing and through that I’ll be earning a rank or two! Now Mini Golf is another story for me entirely — I played 18 holes this morning, got 400ish tokens and then wanted to bang my head on the desk. I don’t know why, but I find it so, so tedious. Ah, the joys of weekly Pogo badges. :)
Kevin B: I spent FAR less time a week on Pogo than you do (I spend most of my ‘play time’ answering email and updating this web site nowadays) and I have yet to have a problem with getting my badges done each week. This week will be no exception. I recommend you give it a try — you might be surprised how quickly it goes. Some rounds/games are better than others, too, so just be patient and persistent.
I really think people are blowing this out of proportion. If it’s Sunday or Monday night and the majority of players haven’t even come close, then I think we can say that Pogo is asking too much in this challenge.
Domenica 11.11.09 at 12:47 pm
I got a wild in Tri Peaks last night so that I could start out being able to use one, but this morning when I went to play, no wild card. Did anybody else have one saved only to find it not there?
kiki 11.11.09 at 12:58 pm
mini golf went pretty quickly for me, but i tend to stick to one course that i do well, lol (Astro Blast is my fave).
i expect tripeaks to take some time, but that’s ok–i have the cirque badge and another MM to keep me busy as i wait for those wilds. and it’ll be good for ranking, that’s for sure. for now, i’ll just play as i normally do, but if it gets to be monday and i’m not done, i’ll start squandering any and all wilds.
MomsBassetHound 11.11.09 at 1:04 pm
I’ve been playing for just about 3 hours and have 8/35, but I really enjoy Tri-Peaks. I will probably only gain 1 ranks while doing this badge, but that’s better than none :)
I’m leaving the golf badge till last b/c I really don’t want to play that game. But I will for a badge…LOL
Good Luck Everyone!!!

Kevin B. 11.11.09 at 1:06 pm
Lura, I won’t argue the point, but there are other things at Pogo that I prefer to do rather than spending an inordinate amount of time on any particular badge.
I’ve learned to play cards games such as Pinochle, Canasta and Euchre because I enjoy a challenge. The commodity that I don’t have in abundance, though, is time.
For those that can do it, more power to them.
Shelly 11.11.09 at 1:12 pm
I took notice of when I was receiving wild cards earlier when doing a bit of the badge and this is what I figured…..use your wild card during a hand that gets you to a chest but ONLY if you will win the hand and get to open a chest.
If you win a hand and it just puts tex in a space without opening a chest I didn’t get a wild card once I had opened the next chest. If Tex opened a chest I got a wild card from that chest he opened.
Reading that back doesn’t read right but I know what I mean…lol
Brenda 11.11.09 at 1:28 pm
Domenica , yes i had one saved from last night too and this morning it was gone. LOL leave it to pogo.
I love this game and I too think it will take a long time to get this badge.
But on the other hand, I got all week to play it so it won’t be so bad.
I have noticed in playing, that if I get a wild, I will use it whether or not I win the game this way I got 2 wilds in one game, It doesn’t happen often but when it does I am well ahead of the game. So use them wilds not only to win the game but as you get them just get rid of it within that one game so you too can sometimes get more then one in a single game at times. Good luck
redlion621 11.11.09 at 1:29 pm
i actually got 2 wild cards in one set on tri peaks
but mini golf will drive me crazy not only does it take forever to load but it freezes so much. i finally decided to only play the front holes and go to a new game at least then i dont lose so much when it does freeze
Rae 11.11.09 at 1:46 pm
If mini golf is still freezing on some, try turning the sound off. I had that trouble when it first came out and I kept the sound turned off and I was able to complete all 18 holes.
I dont know if I am going to do the tri peaks, because I am also trying to get my badge albums done. I am doing the Capricorn badge from the whats your sign album. I have 6 of the 12, 150 jp spins. It is not easy. LOL I ranked up 3 times while trying to get the badge. I have 9 days left so I hope I get it.
Cheryl 11.11.09 at 2:04 pm
It took me about 45 minutes to get the first wild card but then I ended up getting 3 in a row on the 4th, 5th and 6th ones. Then nothing for a while so I guess we need to just be patient….sigh
Good luck!
Ammarylis 11.11.09 at 2:15 pm
Im glad you mentioned that, redlion, cause i thought i was the only one. I got so pissed when my game froze up at the end of the 18th hole and i didnt get credit.I thought about forsaking the badge all together but now Im gonna take your advice and see how it works.Thank you.
Will 11.11.09 at 2:21 pm
I also got a wild card last night in TP and when i went in today it was gone… grr. Im also working on the TP badge from Solitaire Playland to clear 350 peaks and i cleared 38 peaks before i got a wild. Its sad to think im probably going to get the Premium badge before i get this weekly badge lol
john 11.11.09 at 2:25 pm
Minigolf goes faster on warm up
On tri peaks played for about 2 hours and only got 11. Long week ahead of us.
sierra3505 (Sarah) 11.11.09 at 3:06 pm
I only have two days to get both badges. We leave for our vacation early Friday morning and in between packing for the trip and cleaning the house I will work on the Tri Peaks badge. I was hoping for a couple of easy badges this week, and I have a feeling I may have to wait until they are available as personal badges. Oh well, they will get done eventually. :)
Good luck on the badges this week!
redlion621 11.11.09 at 4:08 pm
mini golf play warm up over and over go thru all 18 get spin goes much faster
Toni 11.11.09 at 4:14 pm
Will, Domenica, and Brenda, I also saved a wild from last night and it DID save, but its gonna take awhile to get them all. I have 16 after working almost 6 hours on it. I have a feeling mini golf is gonna take a bit too, Im also doing the 50 birdies with it.
don 11.11.09 at 4:30 pm
I got the mix/match badge for Mini Golf, thinking 50 birdies should be no prob. What I discovered is that 1 under par is NOT a birdie on a par 2. They say that a birdie is 1 under par, but not at Pogo. Being there are few par 3s in the easier courses, I guess the harder ones are the way to go. As far as TP goes, forget it. A rerun of the now notorius Quack game of a few years ago!
Sue W 11.11.09 at 4:34 pm
Mini Golf, play on Warm Up and do it over and over, took me like 7 games with spins…you gotta play full course to get a spin. Tri Peaks. OMG, will be almost like quick quack years ago, lol, but I have 8/35 after like 4 hours, but we do get 7 days so Ill get er done one way or another. Got in a room with such nice fun people, made it alot more fun by chatting and laughing at least. Pogo used the word CHALLENGE right this week, huh? I like challenges, but not marathons, hahahahah, but well prevail. Just keep at it, take breaks and if not, u can get it as a personal later on. Good luck all.
Karen 11.11.09 at 4:46 pm
Okay, the Pogo gods have gone crazy.
Wednesday is my day off so I have plenty of time to grab my badges.
Ive been at the TriPeaks badge since morning, and after playing non stop for 7 hours Im not even halfway to getting 35 wild cards.
I could see 10, or maybe even 20 wild cards required for the badge, but 35 is insane.
For Herculean tasks like this, Pogo should have to send all of us a pound of coffee and a masseuse to rub our sore arms and necks.
Ptooie!
Lois 11.11.09 at 5:02 pm
In Tri Peaks it took me 4 1/2 hours to finish. There were times when it took forever to get a wild. Then sometimes Id get 2 in a row. I was soooo glad when that was done. Ill see those cards in my sleep tonight.
Faith 11.11.09 at 5:03 pm
I, too, got a wild last night, and it was there this morning. I just finished the Tri-Peaks badge. It took me 7 hours with no rests. I got to 12 wilds in a room, and then suddenly I played a number of games and only got tokens. So I went to another room, and started getting a lot of wilds. You might try changing rooms if you cant get games/wilds.
davew 11.11.09 at 5:13 pm
took 5 hrs and 50 min to get the 35
J 11.11.09 at 5:14 pm
I got the tripeaks badge done in about 3 1/2 hours. All i did was use my wildcard (if i needed to or not) before the next chest, i was averaging 2 wild cards per route to the gold chest. As much as I like this game, im glad i finished it lol…Good Luck!!
Amanda 11.11.09 at 6:28 pm
I have been through tri-peaks 4 times and none of the treasures have given me a wild card. I do not mind having a badge that is hard to get, but I would like to see some kind of light at the end of the tunnel.
chiefs 11.11.09 at 6:29 pm
sense u normally get 1 wild for glod chest use ur wild smartly and use it to win games, this will make it go by quicker
Cindy4764 11.11.09 at 7:02 pm
It’s good that Tri Peaks is one of my favorite games because patience is definitely the name of the game with it this week. I can’t play just play for hours without giving my poor old mouse hand/elbow/arm/shoulder a rest, lol. I have 15 or 16 but that was many many games. I just recently got lucky and got 3 wilds in a row but there were several times 2 or 3 games went by and nothing.
It is a little annoying to have the challenges which depend only on chance. I know this because I’ve been doing a Hog Heaven badge trying to get 5 JP spins and I’ve been working on it for 4 days already, lol. I’m pretty sure I won’t be playing that one again for a lonnnnng, lonnnnng, time.
I’ll still probably finish Tri Peaks and the personal before I tackle the golf. It was fun to do a couple of times after it came out but it’s not a game I’ll be playing regularly.
Simone 11.11.09 at 7:53 pm
OK is it just me or is Mini Golf gone whacky? For me it seems to be playing just like it did when it first came out, meaning I get into the game then all of a sudden go to a hole and have no ball. I’ve gotten to the 17th hole 2 times and once only to 12 when this happened. Geeeeesh the last time I was -3 and doing great. I’m playing flora and fauna (trying to get that badge). So is mini G buggy for anyone else? I’m cryin here
Cheryl5000 11.11.09 at 8:13 pm
Today was the first time I played mini golf and I got the badge in 2 hours…fortunately I got a jackpot spin for 750 so that helped.
I have been playing tripeaks for 6 hours and got 17 wilds. I like this game so I don’t mind that this badge will take quite some time. That’s why it is called a challange.
Good luck all!!
Kay 11.11.09 at 9:15 pm
Tri Peaks,
It took all day to get this badge I stop when I got 15/35 and got personal and mini golf,I just now got the badge in Tri Peaks don’t want to see or play it for long time !
Linda 11.11.09 at 9:25 pm
This is my first time posting a comment here, but would like to say Thank you for the Mini Golf hole in one shots! Thanks to those shots and a little practice ahead of time the badge only took me 1 1/2 hours. Question, can I get in trouble with Pogo TOS by referring folks to this site to check out the hole in one shots or other game helps?? gl e1, happy golfing, off to Tri Peaks….
AussieAngel 11.11.09 at 9:33 pm
I manged to get the Tri Peaks badge finished in just under four hours, It wasn’t the easiest badge to get, But no complaints. I already have a start on another name and am up to 17. As for Mini Golf, very easy game and an even easier badge to get. Good Luck to everyone that is still attempting to get either badge.
Lura 11.11.09 at 9:53 pm
Linda: welcome! You’re more than welcome to talk about BadgeHungry in Pogo chat (and I also know that you can post about us in the official Pogo forums too — I just recently checked to make sure on that). Either way, I still recommend you read Pogo’s TOS and decide for yourself that you’re not violating their TOS by referring folks to BadgeHungry in chat or in the forums. With that said, a majority percentage of the first-timers who come to this site have come here via word-of-mouth, so I know a bunch of other people are talking about us. (Thanks everyone!)
Frank 11.11.09 at 10:08 pm
Mini Golf Madness is a quicker badge than Tri-Peaks. I’ve been going after Tri-Peaks badges as personal challenges lately, so I won’t mind playing this one repeatedly. Granted, it’ll take rather long, since you only get one or two wilds per each “artifact” search of six games. After an hour or so, I got approximately 5/35, so I’ll be spreading this game over the next several days.
But, yeah, after two games of Mini Golf Madness, I’m 25% through the badge requirements. I like the game, but wish there was a “random” course because I’m getting bored of the predetermined weekly and theme courses. I know what to expect from the 18 holes, so I just find myself playing that super-easy course.
tigger 11.11.09 at 10:15 pm
simone- that course has given me issues too, although i hadnt tried in a while, sounds like i wont be trying it anytime soon lol….all i can suggest is mute the sounds from the game, that will stop alot of the freezing, etc..that game has alot of graphics, so its eating at the puters memory(i think thats what it is lol)
Lura 11.11.09 at 10:16 pm
Heh, this week’s Letters to the Editor already contains moaning about the 35 wildcards challenge. I love that the Editor seems to think that 6-9 hours is appropriate for a badge — what ever happened to responsible gaming, reminding players to take a break and not feed their gaming addictions? Guess that’s totally 2008 now. :P
http://www.pogo.com/news/us/letterstoeditor/letters-2009.jsp#2009-11-11
He is right, though, complaining is socializing; unfortunately so many people choose that method over open discussion and positivity these days. Either way is okay, though. I’ll just go back to hugging my trees now. :)
Carolyn 11.11.09 at 10:54 pm
I had a hard time with the mini golf badge because the game did keep freezing, however after almost 3 hours I managed to get it. As far as tri peaks, I worked on that badge for 8 hours today am only up to 14/35. Patience is a virtue with this one. We cant give up! Maybe thats what POGO wants us to do. Lets show them otherwise. :)
Mia 11.11.09 at 11:13 pm
Hello all, First time commenting as well. I have been reading up on this site for quite sometime now and finally decided to join in on the comments and badge tracker :) I really enjoy your site and feel you give very helpful tips and great info.. so thank you! I guess I can put my 2 cents in as well and say although this weeks tri peaks challenge seems awful.. Im sure if I keep my patience I will get the badge.. I played for about a hour and got 3 wilds.. not bad I guess.. Im also working on the thanksgiving badge.. so lots to do!! But thanks again for being a great site and Im happy to be a part of!!
shaz 11.12.09 at 12:09 am
i enjoyed the tri peaks challenge ok it time consuming and took me just under 9 hrs to get the badge but i persisted and went up a rank too ( 92 ),i prefer the longer challenges to the ones where 10 mins and u got the badge, those types i feel it aint a challenge, this one u feel yes i did it.just persist u can do it gl e1.
carol 11.12.09 at 8:30 am
it took me 8 hours to get the tri peaks badge, i really didn’t mind, as i like the game. what was disgusting to the whole room was 2 tournies being played during that time. they do tend to take over and this group was rude and snotty whenever any of us tried to chat while they were there. with the rooms so full on badge day, would seem the tour could be postponed on wednesdays on a challenge game. i like mini golf, so know that badge will go quickly.
thanks again for this great site. helps our addiction to be able to vent and read all the comments.

EdC 11.12.09 at 8:55 am
Ugh I hate these challenges where pogo makes you never want to play the game again..then to top it off they advertise a facebook game(restaraunt city) on their banner ads. Are they trying to get rid of us or what?
Anyway I am trying to be patient with tri-peaks and I hope my comment is not taken the wrong way.Iv’e been through the game 3 times and have 1 wild so far :(
EdC 11.12.09 at 9:06 am
I forgot to mention…in tri-peaks if you have a lousy cards and aren’t going to win the game just hit ‘new hand’, no sense prolonging it and the challenge will go slightly quicker.
Sharon 11.12.09 at 9:14 am
I think Pogo went abit overboard this week..I don’t expect to be done my challenges in an hour..but there are some of us that have another life.
It makes it kind of hard for some of us who work..also i am looking after my parents, and my mom has dimensea..I know that Pogo cannot just look out for me,but this is abit much, for people who work and/or have children.
Indy 11.12.09 at 9:28 am
I had a lot of fun playing the mini golf challenge and got 3 badges in the process due to combining challenges from an album and a mix and match. Same thing in peaks – tripled up on challenges and have 2 of the 3 completed already. Love tripeaks, so I’m not in the least bit concerned that it’s not a 15 minute challenge.
Snowyjoke 11.12.09 at 10:04 am
With Tri Peaks if you are playing also for M&M and Premiumbadge and you need a cardstreek from 10 of more, you can use your wildcard. But did you know that you can use it andthat you can play the card whatever you want, so any card is oke on a wild card. Just figure it out and don’t know if everybody knows it, so I thougth it would better to tell it here ;-)
The personals are time-consuming but I love pogo and love the badges, so I will play a lot till I have them both. Good luck all!
Natika 11.12.09 at 10:40 am
I think Pogo needs a swift kick in the @$$ for this Tri-Peaks badge. 2-3 hours is a reasonable *challenge*. It took me THREE HOURS to get the golf badge. That was *ok*. However, I have put in over EIGHT HOURS in Tri Peaks, and have TEN. I’m betting the guy that set this badge is the same guy that set the badge for the ducks. He should be FIRED. This is ABSOLUTELY UNREASONABLE for a badge!!!!!!! Pogo should be checking up on their employees. I don’t doubt this guy is on crack. TRUST ME … Pogo WILL hear from me on this one!!!
btw… I am one of the ones that will not finish rank 50 in Trivial Pursuit until this weekend. Yes, I will continue to play because I like adding 15,400 tokies a day to my account. Thank you to all who work so hard to make things so easy for me. LOL
God bless your day :-D
Dave 11.12.09 at 10:47 am
To ev1 doing tri-peaks it took me 12hrs to complete it yesterday finally got it about 9pm Chicago time lastnight. Pogo has heard from me and am awaiting a response back from them. Have a good day ev1! Dave
tigger 11.12.09 at 11:13 am
have played 3 hours and nada…this is ridiculous yes, but we have a choice if we want to do these or not, we do not have to do them if we do not want to, so im not gonna do it lol, way too time consuming and ridiculous
tcfox 11.12.09 at 11:54 am
I prefer my challenges to be just that – challenges, NOT frustrations. I dont mind working for my badges at all, as a matter of fact I prefer longer over shorter challenges, but I get really annoyed when the challenges are based on random events. I know I dont have to pursue every badge…blah, blah, blah if I didnt have the ability for that certain challenge I wouldnt do it. For this challenge I have the ability (I can win the dang game, I just cant get as lucky as others).
There have been many other *random* type challenges that I have found unfair over the years, but only one that had me in tears thinking I would never finish (not the ducks…hehe). That was the Pogo Bowl get 5 gold Pins I had played for 3 days with only 1 gold pin. Then I bought an MM badge where I had to get 3 silver pins. On activating that, the program did not know what NOT to give me more….LOL. Got my challenge done in 6 games. Wish I could think of a counter badge for this one ;)
I played off on most of yesterday have about 15, but havent touched Golf yet. Ill get it done by next Wednesday – but not without much resentment toward others that have better luck frustration at Pogo for doing this yet again.
Ammarylis 11.12.09 at 12:02 pm
I think people need to chill out about this tri-peaks badge.Yeah, its harder than usual(i even griped about it for a bit) but lts completely optional.Pogo strives to accommodate everyone and not everyone is going to be satisfied.Instead of getting pissed by this one badge that fell short for you, think about all the times pogo has gotten it right and how happy you were then.Again, its a completely optional badge and if you dont like it,dont do it.Instead of being mad at pogo, maybe you should get mad at yourself for feeling you have to do something you dont want to when its very much the opposite.
Candibar50 11.12.09 at 12:10 pm
For those of you just looking to get the Minigolf badge and do not actually want to play the game — throw it! Hit your ball 3x into water or fire (on those holes that have those hazards) and Take 6. For the other holes, hit your ball really short 6x and Take 6. You dont get that many points for a hole in one or under par, so just finish out the game and pray for a bigger jackpot. Even with lower jackpots, you can get to the badge without much aggravation. Im just saying…
Evelyn 11.12.09 at 12:54 pm
For those frustrated with the lack of wild cards in Tri-Peaks, try leaving the room and entering a different one. GL
Pat 11.12.09 at 2:19 pm
Well, I finished my tri-peaks this morning, catching up my dailies, shying away from golf, and dreading one more thing..,the fact that as of last Christmas, I have TWO accounts (so, my family can come on and play with me). I know this is a choice, and I am not feeling sorry for myself as I am retired. But, yes this is alot and I really feel for the people who work full time jobs, have many family obligations, and feel the pressure. I am debating what I can let go (delay the second tri-P, and do a week when my load is easier) and enjoy the fact that trivial pursuit will be off the priority list and on the optional list..And yes, I do feel this fuels the computer addiction or even just the pressure to keep up challenges and is unreasonable for pogo. I too read the letters to the editor and laughed at their playing 15 minutes here or an hour…..didnt hear anyone there that completed the whole badge…walk in our shoes, pogo ! It is a challenge, but, I agree with other that it is unreasonably LONG and DIFFICULT due to the element of CHANCE.
Linda 11.12.09 at 3:14 pm
The tri peaks challenge reminds me of the addiction solitaire challenge a while back where we have to give a good number of ‘gifts’. So not only did you have to win the game, but it was just a chance as to whether you actually got a gift to give. I agree a big frustration more than a challenge.
JOANNA NASON 11.12.09 at 4:16 pm
I look forward to Wednesdays & to getting my badges. I use Pogo as a relax method but Pogo will lose their faithful folllowers due to going over board with their challenges. I play tri peaks alot & get wilds like crazy but of course this week they are set differently. I worked on this badge from NOON on Wednesday until 2:00 am achieving only 20 out of 35. I got on today about 1:00 pm and now I have 25…Still 10 left to get.
This is my point, know it’s a CHALLENGE but we all want the badge as most of us like myself collect them, I buy gems all the time & have FUN getting the badge BUT when it becomes OVER THE TOP I feel it’s unfair. We want something thats achievable within a few hours NOT DAYS, not all of us have the time or energy to work on a challenge forever. Again the word FUN is then taken away. I really feel I speak for many players so I wish when Pogo makes these challenges they take this into consideration..Furthermore my hands are so sore today from all the hours I put in yesterday & neglected my daily challenges so I made them up today but still need 10 to obtain the TrePeaks badge. I wonder if Pogo plays these challenges from step 1 thru the end????? If this does continue & the enjoyment comes to an end so may many memberships..Amen..CJ
Sassynvgirl 11.12.09 at 5:17 pm
Whoa, got all 35 wilds in 4 hours? My friend and I have been working on the badge together. I’m not a bad player, nor is she. So far I have 28 of the 35 wilds and have been working on TP non-stop throughout the day since Wednesday morning. I too feel Pogo has gotten a bit carried away with this challenge. There are people who have to work for a living and only have a few hours a week to play. After all they do have familys, housework and other things to do on their day(s) off. I watched 2 such people leave the room after playing 4 hours on Wed saying thats it for me, forget the badge! I can’t say I don’t blame them and I don’t work..
tigger 11.12.09 at 5:18 pm
i took the poll for what badge was fun to get and how long it took to get the tripeaks, 55% last i looked, said 6 hours or more..
LindaNN 11.12.09 at 7:49 pm
I see there is another Linda in this forum so I added the NN to differentiate (have no idea if that is spelled correctly lol) Whew, I finally got the Tri Peaks badge, took about 8 1/2 hrs. It only took about 3 hours last night to get 18, but took roughly 5 1/2 to get 17 today.
I truely don’t understand the folks that get sooooo upset over some of the challenges. I have been known to complain about challenges in games I don’t care for, but more in a joking manner. Pogo is supposed to be fun, not a job, but it sounds like some folks are confused about that, what a shame. After all, in reality the badges and the tokies are worthless so what is there to really get upset about??
GG to all that have finished their badges for this week, GL to those that are still working on them and for those that are REALLY upset about them, go play a game you enjoy, life is too short to upset yourself over trivial matters.
Brenda 11.12.09 at 8:33 pm
I got my badge in tri peaks at last, but like i said i really like the game.
GL to all, it takes time to get it.
Now mini golf madness is a whole new ball game, so I let my better half get that one. LOL
Hope all is having a good evening.

I’m one of the ones that enjoyed the Tri-Peaks, mainly b/c I have no other life and really like the game :) But I can understand those that work and have a family, very time consuming when you only have so much time that you can be on Pogo. And I managed to redo 17 premium badges while I was doing the weekly badge.
It was the Mini Golf that I was having nightmares over…LOL It’s rare that I hold a premium badge until there’s a challenge in the game, but I really thought I was going to have a problem with it and wanted to spend the least amount time playing as possible.
Well, it turns out that not only do I like it, but I’m pretty good at it. I’ve only played the warm up course so far, but have my weekly badge, the course badge, and half of the M&M birdie badge done. I would be ust about done if it was 50 holes in one instead of birdies…LOL
And for my personal I’m redoing a Makeover Madness badge…still trying to rank up b/c of the mini awards coming out.
Congrats to everyone that has their badges done and best of luck to those still working on them.

Hi, all – just finished reading thru the messages. Why? Because I love to read all of you great folks. (OK, I’m putting off starting the TriPeaks badge. lol) I got my MGM fairly easily – thanks to a first jackpot spin of 1000! Now, why can’t I get those when its like Tumble bees or something? lol I know our dear Editor in LttE swears Pogo never tweaks the games during badge week, but even MGM got me. I play the game alot, and like it. So I’m good at certain favorite courses. Well, despite playing some of these holes tons of times, suddenly today I couldn’t sink the putt. uh huh. Even one of the hole-in-one screenshots that I use successfully every single time didn’t work – the ball just couldn’t go up the hill. lol C’mon Pogo – give me a break!
About TriPeaks – as many have said, I like the game, so perhaps it won’t feel so bad to me if it takes super long. But, I actually like QQ and that horrible badge was murder for me (and I’m pretty good at the game too). There are some challenges – as Pogo itself admitted with the infamous QQ badge – that are just bad ideas, or mistakes. I have often said on badge week – why must Pogo set this up so people end up hating the game instead of discovering a new one to love? That’s not always the case, obviously. But when it does happen, it’s just sad to me. I know that isn’t their goal, for sure.
I also know it is my choice – I hear you all and the Editor too! about how we do not HAVE to play a particular badge. I get it. It’s the truth. However, there is more than one truth. A truth: It should not only be the people who CAN play for hours every day who can earn a specific badge. A truth: These badges are part of our annual membership package, so, really, the choice to want to do them all should really have more weight in that particular argument – we paid for it already. A truth: It is reasonable for someone (like me), who has earned every single weekly challenge badge since Club Pogo began, NOT to want to miss one simply because Pogo miscalculated how long the badge would take.
If I could, I would get every single badge Pogo ever has put out. But, I don’t have the time. I don’t have the money. And, ultimately, I really don’t like some of their games enough to want every badge ever concocted (think: Freecell). I also refuse to buy some of their download games on principle alone: how dare I have to pay even MORE money to get access to items for my mini, which I thought was a Club Pogo feature afterall? So there are already things I am basically FORCED to forego. I should not also be forced to forego a badge – and ruin a perfect collection – simply because I can’t sit on Pogo all day long.
I will add that I have no problem with the idea of a “challenge” – I have said many times on here, that I rarely get to start my weeklies on Wednesday and I am often frantically trying to get them as the clock ticks down on Tuesday…..which means I obviously don’t have a cow if I can’t get the badge within 15 minutes of it becoming available. lol But I echo others who have said there is a difference between a challenge and pure tedium. And tedium is always close at hand when the badge is just a case of waiting for Pogo luck to hit.
Thanks for the forum to share my 2 cents, Lura, as always. Good luck this week everyone!

Well, I hate to jump on the complaint bandwagon, but my mom is yelling up a storm because she can’t get past the disappearing ball glitch in Mini Golf and she doesn’t seem to have the patience to try the fix that works for me. (Waiting around and clicking off course.)
Then I was trying to make some progress on Tri tonight only to get a pogo side server error which ERASED ALL MY PROGRESS. Not a big deal on a short badge, but a marathon one, are you kidding me? I’ve checked and rechecked, several hours of work is gone. I’m starting to feel that feeling some of you have been talking about Pogo’s lack of working out all the kinks in a game… or their servers. Well, here’s hoping my CS letter doesn’t get lost in all the other Tri complaint mail. I hope everyone else is doing better tonight than I am!

Finally got my tri peaks badge, whew glad that is over. Mini golf was a breeze compared to that challenge. All I can say is keep plugging away, you will eventually get it. I enjoy tri peaks but that was TOUGH.
Good Luck to everyone with both badges, keep a sense of humor and then its not so bad. Also working on it with a friend helps tremendously.
Have a great Friday everyone.
rock 11.13.09 at 3:40 am
First off, I feel a CHALLENGE shoud be just that, If all was easy then that would not be a challenge…
About Mini Golf, the warm up is the fastest way for scoring, but for those that never played it, if you play each course, you will get at least 4 to 5 badges which should offset the frustration of TP 35 wilds..
DebbieSLP 11.13.09 at 7:47 am
I don’t mind the tri-peaks game, I have played about 6-7 hours so far and have 17 wilds used. I agree it’s a bit excessive for time, I do have a full time job and a household to take care of. But, some are long and more dependent on chance than others. (Shrug.)
However the golf game, which I think is fun to play, is driving me crazy. It typically freezes at the 18th hole. (I always play with the sound off.) I play to get as high a score as possible, so I’m careful with my shots. Putting in all that effort only to get zero tokens is frustrating. I’ve played nine games, and this has happened on three. Just enough to keep me going, and make it extra painful when it happens yet again!
I want to play, and I do enjoy the game, but the feeling of dread all the way through is beginning to take the joy right out of it for me. How sad.
If it has to freeze, why can’t it freeze somewhere in the front nine?
Lura, thanks again for this forum. It’s nice to know that others have the same issues with Pogo sometimes, and it’s not just my dumb luck! :-)
shygram 11.13.09 at 8:17 am
Badge Addict = me, and for someone to say that I have the option of completing or not completing a badge is strictly not how I think. My quest is to complete all badges in my 2009 album and any albums I have, therefore I have to take the good with the bad. I look at a challenge as something that I can control by my ability to play it. Many times POGO comes out with what they call a challenge that strictly depends on luck (pogo bowl gold pins). The recent challenge of Tri-Peaks was a combination of skill and luck. You had to be able to win the game to open the chest, but alas luck had to come into play also since when you opened the chest a wild card had to be present. I do not like to play games of chance. I much prefer games that challenge my skill such as mini-golf. There does not seem to be a happy medium with POGO they either give you challenges that take an hour or a 10 hour marathon. I do not like to sit for 10-12 hours in front of a computer to win a badge. However, I did it because i am a badge addict. LOL.
EdC 11.13.09 at 10:04 am
DebbieSLP- in putt putt if your game keeps freezing on the 18th hole, and you’re still trying to get your badge..why not just do the 9 holes? It may not be as many tokens but at least you’re getting something. I would be highly annoyed if this game was freezing for me on the 18th hole!
lynn 11.13.09 at 12:06 pm
ok everyone, seriously now, how can 1% of people have won the tri-peaks badge in less than an hour and 4% of people have won in 1 to 2 hours? considering the countless amount of hours everyone has spent on the badge, i’d say the opinion poll is a bit fixed.
as long as it took to get the first 30 wild cards, that’s how quickly i got the last 5. but, yay, it’s over and done with!
Pat 11.13.09 at 12:48 pm
Well, they say Misery Loves Company and I so enjoy coming here to BH. Rather than feel that pogo is out-of-line, I feel like we are all in it together. The hints help so very much. The reminder to load MnM and premium badges when doing the tri-peaks was one I needed to hear. I have finished the terrible tri-peaks on one account and decided to get it out of the way in the 2nd account as well. I am at 20/35, so there is hope. Meanwhile, I have done 2 MnM badges and 2 premium ones, so there is a sense of progress. I also keep muttering to myself, this too shall pass…so, buck up. If you want the badge, ya cant go around the barrier, ya gotta go thru it. So, relax, play some good music, and come here when ya need to vent. We understand. Thank you so very much Lura for an excellent site with so many different ideas, hints, new information, tokens, and just wonderful people sharing their skills.
Christy 11.13.09 at 12:48 pm
OK, I have to weigh in here. Yes, we don’t have to play for these badges. Your absolutely right. And there are some I haven’t done simply because I didn’t have the time to put in on them that week. However, I do think the challenge should reasonably be able to be completed by people that work and have families. I mean, I’m on day 3 of trying to get this tri peaks badge. After playing several hours the 1st day, even more the second, and a few more today, I realize I’m getting approximately 1 wild per hour on average. Oh, some hours I’ll get 3. And some none. But this averages out to about the same as other people I have talked to in the room. (One guy did claim to have gotten 17 wilds in less than an hour. I found him to be a bit less than credible when you consider you have to win enough hands to make it through that row a minimum of 6 times to get 17 wilds, and that is IF you get wilds every chest, which no one is getting. Save possibly him. That’s the best I’ve heard, and I plain don’t buy the people that say they got it in less than an hour. I don’t think that would be possible even if you won ever game and every chest had a wild card. Best you can do out of the 6 stops is get 3 wild cards, because that last chest never contains a wild. So, to get 35 in an hour……. you’d have to cross that path 12 times, and you’d have to win 72 games. Even if you won every single game, and every single time you could get a wild you did, I don’t think you could complete that in under an hour. You would have to win each game in about 50 seconds. The math just doesn’t add up.
As for me? I do work, have a family, and 35 hours for any badge considering the average so far has been an hour per wild, just isn’t worth it. I normally enjoy the weekly challenges, and have even found games I like by playing them, but this is way over the top. That’s almost a full time job for a week. That’s ridiculous.

michelle 11.13.09 at 1:35 pm
35 hrs? i finished in around 11 hrs in a 2 day span i was given 7 days too complete. never played the game before. my husband back home till his next deployment finished the golf in about 8 rounds.not sure of all the complaining but i swear people were just complaining about winning badges in several minutes.now on a better note a thank you too lura for her devotion and easy going attitude and hope ev1 has a great weekend regardless of wildcards or not.
Pat 11.13.09 at 2:12 pm
Christy, you should be getting more than that, even with bad luck on choices. I made first game in about 7 hours…I got to wondering if ya win enuff games..then i recalled that when i first started playing, i missed a key point..that of the relationship between King and aces. I was not winning many. Then, I reread the how to play section and realized I could win more with this info. I am not sure if this is already something you are doing, but can play J,10, J,Q, K, A, K, A, 2, 3, etc…..i try to slow down enuff to see the best route. And gl with it.
braun 11.13.09 at 2:42 pm
i think 8 rounds in the mini golf is Just about right. It depends on the spins a little bit, heard some ppl with 1000 spins but not me. the tri-peaks was long but not impossible. i Definitely Do not believe ppl could do the tri peaks challenge in less than an hour. I think they just want to brag that they did or just hit any number up there on the poll. I also think that more people might be screaming next week b/c one challenge, at least right now, is to get gold coins in sweet tooth. I am sure that I can do it, but certainly wont be the easiest challenge since a person has to play on level 4 or 5 and wait for the coins to appear.
tcfox 11.13.09 at 2:48 pm
I just wanted to thank HomelessDog for taking the time to share the hole-in-one screen shots for MGM. Without them I would never have gotten this weeks badge.
*pssst Lura – thanks for posting them too
Madonna 11.13.09 at 3:48 pm
Been reading for a while, and now posting for the first time.
All I can say in response to this week’s challenges is that TPTB at Pogo just do not get it.
(Starting off with the shorter of the two – in more ways than one…) The only complaint I can have over the Mini Golf one is that the game clearly still has some serious issues. Upon hearing many people complain about frozen games (here and in the game room), I honestly could only sit here, shake my head, and think “Guys, this was too soon. The challenge is reasonable, but let’s get the game working right before sending everyone there to earn a badge, okay?”
The Tri-Peaks one, however, was ludicrous.
No, not all of us have all day, everyday, to sit at our computer and play the same game over and over and over to earn a badge. Only “6 to 9 hours” is a bit much. When the editor him/herself is admitting the challenge is likely to take as long as a work shift, it’s going overboard. And, of course, luck is a huge factor in this – there are people who have played over 9 hours and aren’t even HALFWAY done!
This is not the first time, either (Quick Quack, anyone? How about some Phlinx?).
What seems to fall on deafs ears is that there is a difference between a “challenge” and a “test of skill”, and a “marathon” and utter monotony. It seems anymore that these are the only kinds of “challenges” TPTB that came come up with.
I wish I could chalk it up to just not getting it, but I have read the interview with Badge Demon/Devil/Guy/whatever. After reading the interview, I couldn’t help but to shake the feeling that our frustration is a source of amusement to this guy, and he genuinely gets off on creating controversial badges and making us angry. Speaking of length, I get the feeling that I something long coming from Pogo’s staff while reading that interview – like, maybe, the longest finger on their hand?
Stay classy, Pogo.
Sure, those who are “sick of the complaints” (complaining about complaints? Funny, isn’t it?) tell us that “no one is making you do these challenges”. I don’t know about anyone else, but I have been keeping my subscription up solely to continue to earn badges and complete albums. No other reason at all. Monotonous, tedius, better pack a lunch and a dinner and maybe even tomorrow’s breakfast challenges that greatly frustrate me (not only over the ridiculous time involved, but the feeling Pogo is giving me the “We’re #1!” gesture with the wrong finger) only cause me to reconsider whether it’s worth my time and money to bother.
If their goal is to chase away members, well, then Pogo should just go right ahead and “stay the course”. Because too many more of these ridiculous marathons/prayers for blind luck to hit, and too many more games I won’t play anymore because the latest challenge caused me to hate them, and I’ll just spend $40 less a year.
Such challenges have been around since 2003, sure. But 2009 has been utterly ridiculous. I’ve been disgusted more with this year’s challenges than the previous five years combined.
The sad part is, I expect things to get worse.
It’s time for TPTB to get some perspective, learn what the word “challenge” means (hint: it does not mean playing the same game repeatedly waiting for blind luck, nor does it mean marathon gaming). I’m about done paying my money for Pogo’s brand of “entertainment” and “customer service”. They keep it up, and I’ll remove the word “about” from that last sentence.
Or, to put it bluntly: There is a difference between challenging, and just plain stupid.
Tri-Peaks this week was not challenging. Guess that means there’s only one possible answer.
tigger 11.13.09 at 4:33 pm
finally finished the badge whew!what im trying to figure out, honestly, is ppl sit in rooms and such and complain about it, yes you pay for the badges, but if u gonna do the badges, why complain in first place?just cause u pay for club, dont mean u gotta do it, so to me and imma b honest, either suck it up and do it, or dont…takes up time from the game to complain ;)
Marlaina 11.13.09 at 4:41 pm
Thank you Lura for this service that you provide to us Pogo nuts. I check out the weekly comments before doing the challenges to get a clue as to what is the best way to play the game, that is after reading directions earlier in week. Some games are very hard but that is a challenge. I also have enjoyed the chats during the games, yes some people are negative but most are dealing with it and joking about 6the game and that is what keeps me going for the more difficult games. I unlike many people can spend the time on long challenges but would prefer never to have this one again. 10/10 wild cards would have been enough for most people. Thanks again enjoy your site Lura
Kathy P 11.13.09 at 5:28 pm
WHEW!!!! 17 hours 35 wilds.
In the past while playing Tri-peaks, I had wilds left and right.
For this challenge, all I was getting was tokens and I am a fairly decent player. How frustrating. So I can definitely see why all the complaints.
MGM was easy thanks to Homeless Dogs screen shots.
Wishing everyone a speedier TP.
Cyrabi 11.13.09 at 6:06 pm
Its Friday the 13th! Hope no one had bad luck today. For Mini Golf play on a course thats easy for you, use the power-ups. Im not done with Tri Peaks yet, I think I have 15/35 wilds used. Good Luck All, keep plugging away.
laura 11.13.09 at 6:28 pm
i have a questionabout mini golf madness,im playing the game, the warm up parti did the challenge for the badge.i really dont understand about par,s and such but i keep looking at my stats and i am ranking a bit but when i look at the extra badges like for instance the warm up badge, my question is what do you have to do to get this badge win every game, perfect score . i see the rank badges i know how to do that, all i see is the 5 badges for each course and not how to get them .i just started to playthis game, all i know is the 1 hit wonder when i get it and how. anyone out there can explain the warm up badge. i read the how to play but it greek to me . wow i hope i asked this right and explained it right to. i got to admit some of the challenges were long like yahztee, quick quack, and ohhh tri-peacks but if u like the badges u do them ,you do have a WEEK.
Christy 11.13.09 at 7:15 pm
I think part of the reason for the complaints is that many of us do enjoy a challenge. I certainly do, and is why I do play for the weekly challenges. But, to me, a challenge is something that requires a bit of skill. Not just luck in how fast the wilds come to you. That’s not the definition of a challenge to me. It may be the definition of how much patience do you have.
evanka11 11.13.09 at 8:26 pm
laura, for the golf badges like warmup and creature feature, etc, you have to complete the whole course getting par or under par — the scoreboard tells you whether you’re under (-1 or -2 or whatever) or over, so you can keep track.
this tri-peaks challenge is insane – i must have put in more than 10 hours already on it and i still need 10 more wilds (which do not come up often at all).
braun 11.13.09 at 8:43 pm
for laura (comment #86) for the warm up bade you need to play the warm up course, You need to play the full 18 holes, And you need to have a total final score of 0 or less, when you add the front nine score to the back nine score.
RW 11.13.09 at 9:26 pm
Finished both challenges by (early) Fri. evening. So amusing to see all the moaning and groaning in Tri-Peaks. Guess some folks just don’t “get it” that you have a week to do it, and instead whine when they can’t get it in an hour. LOL
Have a good weekend everyone.
HomelessDog 11.13.09 at 9:50 pm
I’m not sure if I’ll try either challenge yet. I’m working on ranking out in a a few games instead.
But I wanted to chime in and say that I bet you Pogo makes more money on Mix-N-Match Sales whenever there’s a really challenging Weekly badge. Just think of how many different Tri-Peaks Mix-N-Match challenges I’ll be able to finish while working on this weekly challenge. They’ll probably get 80 gems out of me.
Sheljin 11.14.09 at 2:09 am
Just came from Tripeaks, stopped here on my way to bed. I’m at just 10/35. RW #90, would love to hear how many hours it took you to do the Tripeaks. And I have read all the comments – don’t think I read ONE that said they wished it only took an hour. I went thru 4 artifacts this morning without one wild showing up. Tonight, had to go thru 3 more before I started getting a series of them. I’m starting to wonder if that is part of the problem…..Pogo sets it that you have to play awhile before they start showing up. Unfortunately, I often only have 30 mins, 60 mins at a time to play. Very frustrating to come in, play, and get absolutely nothing for your effort. I win just fine on this game. In fact, my last 4 wilds, I have used without needing to – could have won the hand without it, but wanted the open space for another one to pop up (hopefully).
Bottom line for me is this: Anyone who has ever played this game knows that 35 wilds was just ridiculous. They don’t show up that often in the regular game and way less during a badge week. How can the Pogo creators themselves not know this?
As for complaining, in the room I was in tonight, we were all having a grand ol’ time plotting Pogo’s painful demise. lol It helps to be able to joke and laugh, it really does…..at least I think so. I can make jokes about it, and I can be serious about it.
This challenge is just not right. There really should be no big challenges that depend on sheer luck…. and that’s what this one does. When you count in the fact that Pogo tweaks the game during badge week, you are looking at a long haul. Has this challenge made ONE person a Tripeaks fan? I think not. And I have spoken to alot of people while playing this – including one of my best friends – who now just hate the game. The game didn’t deserve this, Pogo. Continued gl to everyone working hard on it.
~Shel
PS – I did try the changing rooms suggestion – NOTHING was going to give me a wild Thursday night or Friday morning apparently.
Pam 11.14.09 at 2:46 am
I survived the the Stone Idol badge, yay (is running naked cheering thru the house) ok, composed now…
I took a break from Tri-Peaks & went to MG & in chat someone was talking about using the ‘trick’ to get wilds in Tri-Peaks…
Apparently like Lost Temple Poker, if you click on good ‘ole Rotten Tex just as he’s bending to open the chest you’ll get a wild card… I went back in & did indeed get a wild card in the first 3 chests by clicking on him… coincidence? It worked for my last 3 games & I badged’?’
Lynn 11.14.09 at 8:43 am
I don’t mind doing “hard” challenges, but let’s make the challenge “hard” by requiring more points. Why do they need to change the game since it’s a challenge? In Tri Peaks this week they took out a lot of wild cards we normally would get. Thus, it’s not a challenge, it a matter of waiting on the computer to decide when it’s your turn to “hit”.
laura 11.14.09 at 8:49 am
#88,#89 i want to thank you for your input on mini golf, very helpful so i went back to try this ,i understand now what i have to do but it,s going to be hard i always get too much like when i have to take 6 lol, it will be quite the challenge for me but i at least know what i have to do ,thank you ever so much to all you great ,smart people
MomsBassetHound 11.14.09 at 10:01 am
Pogo does not do anything to the games during a weekly challenge. It would involve too much time and effort to reprogram a game for just one week….and then they would have to change it back again the following week.
I have always found it difficult to get the wild cards in this game, and see no difference this week.
It took me about 14 hours of solid play to get my badge, and now I’m working on the badge for someone else who doesn’t have the time to complete it. I am up to 22 wilds in about 6 hours, so don’t think it will take me as long for this one.
Good Luck to everyone that is still working on their badges.
Suz
tigger 11.14.09 at 10:04 am
ok, i know this has been said b4, but they do NOT tweak the game, they do NOT take away things just so we sit longer…it is PURE LUCK guys/gals, just like with alot of games…NOT every single chest are you going to get a wild, its just the game
Lura 11.14.09 at 10:31 am
Pam: total coincidence, unfortunately. There’s no secret way to get more wilds other than to be persistent and keep playing. :)
tcfox 11.14.09 at 11:09 am
Moms & tigger…while it may be true that Pogo does not go in each week & tweak the games to play differently for the challenges (& btw that is just as much speculation on your part as it is speculation on others part that they do), it’s only because there is no need to. They games are already programed to play differently depending on which badge are activated. (See my post above regarding the Pogo Bowl gold pin challenge) It was certainly no coincidence that after playing for 3 days and seeing only 1 gold pin, I suddenly got 4 gold pins in 6 games after activating a challenge that required needing silver pins.
I don’t think the tri-peaks wilds proved any more random than usual, but you will never get me to believe that games are not *fixed* during challenges.
Frank 11.14.09 at 11:13 am
Well, I *finally* completed the Tri-Peaks badge this morning. Total time played was about nine hours.
I also used my personal challenge on Tri-Peaks thereafter, which took only two rounds and about three minutes. All in all, it balanced out nicely. Granted, there might have been a lot of ranting, but I bit my lip, since the badge was still possible to attain the 35 wild cards within a week.
brassychic 11.14.09 at 11:28 am
I am still having trouble getting into the Mini Golf game. I get as far as
choosing my coarse and nothing happens. I have tried at least 25 times to get in but cannot. I want to get this badge….What can I do
in order to play….HELP!!!!!
Sheljin 11.14.09 at 12:50 pm
Brassy #101 – After you choose your course, you must then choose either “front 9, back 9, full course” – those buttons are at the bottom of the same screen. To get a jackpot spin, you must do the full course. Perhaps you are having a different problem, but from your description it sounds like you might not be choosing one of those 3 options. Hope that helps.

Sheljin 11.14.09 at 1:00 pm
With all due respect to Moms & tigger, I agree with tcfox (#96, 97, 99). I have played way too many of these games during badge week (or when activating a badge) and seen the game become just slightly harder (or more random) to ever believe there isn’t some tweaking going on. (And, yes, I have read the LttE insisting it doesn’t happen also. lol) I have been in plenty of rooms — slots games are good for it — where you are playing forever for the random point of the badge, listening to everyone who already HAS the badge shout out about getting the random item every 30 seconds or so. lol (If only we COULD pay a player tokies to buy those extra items as has been joked about more times than I can count. lol lol) It just cannot be random luck all of these times. As I said way up there somewhere, I even had some of our “hole in one” screen shots not work for me this week for the first time EVER. I just laugh at it, most of the time – because, for me, it is so obvious. But there is no way they aren’t tweaked. It is really obvious on games you are good at, I think, because you really KNOW the game.
TC – took me 3 times, I think, to get that gold pin badge. I had no time when it was first a weekly challenge. And I LOVE to bowl – that is a game I wish had more ranks, and I can sit there for hours, happily. No golds. It was pathetic. And when you can’t do anything to get the badge, it begins to make even a game you love just frustrating. Can’t imagine having to do that with a game I hated.

Well, last nite, I completed my 2nd tri-pukes challenge, on my 2nd account, and several premium and MnM badges as well. They each took me between 6-7 hours. I DID change rooms, but only when I got to the final gold chest, got my jp spin, and the question came up to play again..
The next game began in a new room with the instructions regarding play, and quite often it resulted in 2 wilds per game. I often find in many games the first game is the easiest (World Class, First Class soli, Pay day free cell, etc). So, i did not change rooms just anytime. I played to the end of the round, and started as a new round…I swear it helped.
But, if I can do 2, as dismayed as I was, there is hope that all of you will get the one, despite all the grumbling. This is NOT the dreaded QQ. In contrast, I read the Badge Master interview as featured on the Home Page Banner, as to what the point of the challenge is, how they choose one, and what the aim is—and Pogo, I think you missed your mark this week. It wasn’t a challenge, but, indeed a marathon that turned off many players. Better luck next time…
Christy 11.14.09 at 1:32 pm
Frank, It may be possible for you to get 35 wilds in a week. It’s not for all of us. As I said before, many of us are getting approximately 1 wild per hour. That’s 35 hours of play. I don’t have 5 hours a day to play of tri peaks solitaire. I do have a family and work full time. I wouldn’t have even complained had we been talking 6 or 7 hours. But so far I have played 14 hours in 3 days and gotten 14 wilds.
No, I don’t believe they tweak the game either. But this challenge is very much derived on luck, not skill. I’m glad you were able to get it in a reasonable amount of time. However, anything that I have to spend as much time on as a regular full time job isn’t a game challenge. It’s nuts.
Barbara 11.14.09 at 2:07 pm
Tri-Peaks took most of us quite a bit of time. Not complaining as all in all I think Pogo mixes us up with easy badges some weeks and harder at other times. Thus the challenge. However, I am curious as to who those people are that say on Pogo’s Badge page (where they ask you to submit your favorite challenge as well as time spent) that they did this one in under 1 hour. I can’t believe it is possible.
This is a wonderful site, like coming here for the hints as well as the comments. Thanks Lura for all you do.
Pat 11.14.09 at 2:36 pm
I just went to update the weekly poll on time it took to complete badges for my 2nd account. I added mine to the 6 hours or more category-this is now at 66 per cent with another 5% at chose not to pursue challenge –that is 71% of disgruntled or at least beleagured badge hunters this week. While some are focussing on the under an hour at 1%, I totally discount these as useless boasting; and wonder what pogo will think of 71% that may or may not be satisfied….
mindyzep 11.14.09 at 3:07 pm
Have you ever not gotten a badge you have earned? My stats show I have 55 holes in one in mini golf, but I didnt get the badge for it. Also, a few weeks ago I finished a MNM book and did not receive a completion badge. Has this happened to anyone else?
Madonna 11.14.09 at 3:09 pm
I would like to concur: My issue with the Tri-Pukes badge (I love that name!) is not that Darn! I couldnt get it in 17 minutes! Its that six hours (or more) is ridiculous in the other direction. I know somehow we have become a black and white, one extreme or the other society, but cmon Pogo. You cant come up with a good challenge that requires skill (instead of praying for blind luck) and might take a couple hours, instead of a work shift? Or days?
What has me ticked over this badge (and many other similar ones in 2009) is Pogos naive and (frankly) arrogant believe that everyone wakes up in the morning, pours their first cup of coffee, points their browser to pogo.com, and sits there all day until its bedtime.
I work on the Internet as a disc jockey. I also volunteer my time for the American Cancer Society. I dont have every waking minute of my life for a week to wear my mouse out on Tri-Pukes, or whatever the latest Do you feel lucky, punk? challenge is to complete the challenge.
My life does not revolve around worshipping at the Temple Of Pogo. The current mastermind behind challenges (who gets off on controversy and angering people, it seems – read the interview) dont get that. And Im not the only one.
Many days, I am on Pogo for about 30 minutes a day: To complete the crossword puzzle, play Trivial Pursuit, and maybe play catch-up in Word Search. There are days I just dont have the time to be there more than that.
In other words: Lets see some challenges. Not mindless marathons that cater to the people who spend 12 hours a day on Pogo.
As far as rigging challenges: It happens. I know, hard to believe, but it does. I suspected it for years, and had any doubt erased last year during that Cribbage challenge, when the computer scored four 30-point hands, when I had never seen a 30-point hand before in Cribbage – on or off Pogo.
Thats kind of like a five run home run, or a four point basket. Highest possible score is 29, not 30.
Nice try. Busted.
Kathy P 11.14.09 at 3:47 pm
Hi E1. As I said earlier it took me 17 hours. When I was reading thru the comments, tcfox (#55 ) had mentioned activating TP premium badges. I went back and activated old badges and it definintely helped.
It took me 8 hours to get 10 on my own and 9 hours to get the other 25.
Thank you tcfox, otherwise it prolly would have taken a month of Sundays. Good Luck E1. Hope the wilds come faster.
Gecko 11.14.09 at 4:03 pm
After reading through the comments here on a break from Tri (30/35 now-only because Im sick and home) I am starting to wonder if Pogo isnt coming dangerously close to the way WOW was? If the editor is saying that sitting in front of a SINGLE game is ok for – what did he say, exactly, 6-9 hours? – and then there is another challenge to do on top of that? Sure they can say players dont have to do it, but then those poor gamers who dehydrated in internet cafes didnt have to do that either… it is part of our psyche. I figured the famed QQ badge was just a fluke, but there have been several lately (like 100 games of poppit!) that I couldnt have done without asking a friend to play for a bit. I wonder if the Pogo legal team shouldnt be looking into this… sort of puts the whole challenge idea into a different realm. Maybe? I dunno, it might for some people with health conditions for sure!
I do know Pogo lost money on me – I was going to buy my first PBA to play this week, but Ive spent all my awake and sniffly time in Tri now.
shygram 11.14.09 at 4:07 pm
Just one comment – no way could someone have gotten the TriPeaks badge in an hour. Not sure why they chose to say that but it is actually laughable.
vibirdlady 11.14.09 at 4:13 pm
As some above have said this was NOT a challenge, it was a Marathon. Being retired but w/ large family(none of whom live at home) volunteer work I do stay busy. I enjoy pogo for the friends I have made from all over. I played Tri-Peaks part of the time with some of them, some work so arent able to spend as much time as they would like doing their badges. I just finished my Tri-Peaks, it took me 21 hours all total! Im fairly new to BH and keeping up with my badges, have ranked out in a couple and did enjoy playing Tri-Peaks once in a while. I went from rank 4 to rank 6 during this challenge. The Mini Golf was fairly easy with the help from BH. I will be playing that in the future, found out Im pretty good at it for a great-granny. I do feel for those who dont have the time I put in to get this badge, I admit Im not the best player but I must agree with others I dont think theres anyway someone did this in under an hour. TY Lura 4 site!
MomsBassetHound 11.14.09 at 4:13 pm
For Mindy #108 – The same thing happened to me yesterday with the same badge, my stats said over 50. I was still playing MGM and the badge popped up after the next game. If you dont get it after the next game I would email Pogo. Good Luck!!

John 11.14.09 at 4:27 pm
LOL, I see another John here since I posted a few tips, way back. But The LTTE only pointed out that it would take too much time to tweak a game EVERY WEEK. I have been in Beta a few times …and for sake of argument, lets find where POGO would Tweak. In letters, yes to do every week. BUT in Beta (where every future badge is being tested..sorta change the #s), They could TWEAK and it would be a Running Tweak for the life of game and any challenge thats set to run or any future ones that say 15 replaced 25 wilds etc.
I agree taht after 50 ranks, my win % on say …and after 50 ranks mind you..went from 35% to 25% while a challenge.
OK Ill be quiet..LOL
Cogerly 11.14.09 at 5:16 pm
Here is a little hint to help speed up the Tri Peaks badge. It doesn’t work every time but does about half the time. When you get a wild card on the first or second chest, do not use it. When you are at the point where you are certain you will win the hand and go to the third chest, use the wild..even if you would win the hand anyway. Often, you will get another wild card on the third chest. This obviously helps you get two wilds per game.
gary 11.14.09 at 8:37 pm
You will run into streaks where you get no wild card for 2-4 times across the top but use it even if you are going to win the hand.Would like to comment on trivia the answers for the Uk are not the same anymore for the same date but last year i’ve seen this about a week or 2 ago. You’ll have to get your own now thank you everyone great site tc and hag weekend
kiki 11.15.09 at 12:01 am
i think the idea of rigging a game to increase the difficulty is absurd. why would pogo do that? it doesn’t benefit them financially, in fact, they’d have to pay some programmer to change up the coding before and after. seems pretty silly to me. what would they stand to gain?
the only thing that would conceivably make the smallest amount of sense is if there were a finite number of an item per room per hour or some such. the more people playing, the more dilute the pool gets.
but i don’t even believe that. i got the badge, i know many who got the badge also. it wasn’t the end of the world and i didn’t spend several lifetimes doing it. it was long, but it was do-able, and nowhere near the craziness of QQ.
Sheljin 11.15.09 at 4:39 am
mindy #108 – I have heard of people not getting some of the MGM badges until they start the next course (or maybe even finish another course). But if you still don’t have it, definitely write to Customer Service. That is one of the easier things they can check on – they just look at your stats, and voila! Good luck.
Pat #104 – Do you switch rooms after doing one artifact (full run across top) every time, whether you have gotten any wilds or not in that room? I have been finding even when I change rooms, I have to play the stupid game at least 2 times, often 3, before anything starts to show up. And, last night, I got a wild and didn’t use it, so I would have it for tonight — I thought, let me start off with one, maybe more will come. lol Well, ty Pogo – first time ever they didn’t save my WILD card. So, lost that one — and in this challenge, losing one is a lot. lol
Kathy P #110 – tc #55 – any particular type of premium I should be trying for? Or is just about fooling Pogo into not knowing which badge to make harder? lol
John #115 – You made my night. TY for posting that!! (Don’t ever stay quiet. lol)
Lastly, I don’t remember who said it, but someone mentioned the possibility of clicking right on the chests to get a WILD. Glad it worked for you, but nada for me. lol
~Shel (still on the 3rd artifact for this night with no wilds yet)
RW 11.15.09 at 9:05 am
In response to #92: Sheljin
I’m not sure just how long it took me. I work, so Wed and Thursday was done before/after work, was off on Fri.
At a wild guess, since I also took breaks from Tri-Peaks to do some of the golf challenge, I will guess maybe 7 hours? That’s a rough guess since did it in segments and didn’t time myself.
I knew it would not be a fast badge to get, so on those, I just play and don’t worry about the time. I had some spells of not winning a hand to open a chest 2-3 games in a row so clicked on ‘new hand’ once or twice, which seemed to help get back on track for winning the hand.
Christy 11.15.09 at 1:48 pm
I’ve been following this thread since I think page 1. Have posted a couple comments. I have to applaud Madonna and Gecko. Sure, the weekly challenges should be challenges. But this is still just a game. There are more important things in life. And yes, once again, I know we don’t have to play for badges, but for those of us that like to, spending work shifts worth of time is more than ridiculous. I think it was Gecko that pointed out many of the recent challenges have been unreasonable. As someone that does work full time and have a family, I haven’t been able to get many of the badges that took less time than this. The crossword one, the poppit one, the phlinx one. Seems like pogo wants everyone to have a raging internet addiction. I would be much happier with a “challenge” that was actually a challenge. One that relied on skill rather than random luck. (Can’t say too much on the crossword one. While I love word games, crosswords I don’t do all that well. At least that one was skill though. I could have done it had I had more time that week. I didn’t.) But this weeks is sheer random luck. And that is true whether you believe pogo tweaks games on badge weeks or not (which, like one person pointed out, financially wouldn’t even make sense. And if you ever want to know why a company does something, the answer is always money.)
tcfox 11.15.09 at 2:45 pm
Sheljin, I couldn’t think of any other challenge to activate to help this one along. If I inadvertently helped Kathy P with my comment *smiles* & she found one, maybe she will pop in & let you know which one it was.
I finally got mine – I did it in very small increments & refused to time it. Tri is a game I enjoy & play daily, so I did not want to burn out on it. I found shorter increments (2 hours tops) didn’t annoy quite me as much. Hope your luck gets better!
Kathy P 11.15.09 at 2:51 pm
Sheljin #119-Yes I reactivated old TriPeaks premuim badges I had and already completed. It seemed to worked. Anything to try and speed it up.
Sheljin 11.15.09 at 3:03 pm
RW #120 – Thank you for response. I’m not sure how long I’m up to at this point, either. I was determined to keep track, but then it was just too depressing, so I stopped. Certainly, it is long over the 6 hours “top choice” that Pogo offers us in the survey. lol I’m currently at 20/35. I actually got a wild the first hand I played today, but then nothing for a few artifacts. Then, I got 3 in one game! A first for me this challenge. I thought, okay, tide is turning (I have found that sometimes the challenge lightens up the later in the week it is – maybe a coincidence?? I don’t know, but it has happened to me alot, since I often am still doing the badges on Tuesdays). But, nope, then went thru another longgggg dry spell.
BTW, just to add to the data being collected here lol – Two people in the room I was in got their badges and proceeded to get 3 and 4 wilds in a row, respectively. I may not know why Pogo does it (I have my theories) and I certainly don’t have any clue what would be involved in doing it (though I don’t think anybody else really does either), but I truly believe the tweaking happens. lol
Hope all enjoyed their weekend……not sure I’ll have time to post again today. Take care.
~Shel
Pat 11.15.09 at 4:59 pm
To Sheljin-Yes, I changed rooms after i received the artifact and jp spin. I also avoided using the wild if there was not a chest available, even if i would have got a win. I saved it only for a chance at a chest. Then, if I was approaching a chest, i would use the wild whether i needed to or not. It often resulted in another wild. And, no, I did not leave a wild on the screen. If I clicked off, it was after using the wild.
Another thought was about number of games won. Someone had posted a drop from 35 % to 25% or something like that. I checked my average wins and it was more than twice that…so, some of you who are getting fewer wilds may also be getting fewer wins, and this you cant blame on chance—this IS the SKILL part…So, it really is dependant on Both. Just like the chance increses for a jp spin on QQ the better you play the game, it is true for tri-peaks as well. So, don’t put all the blame on pogo, pls.
ratpeople_ 11.15.09 at 6:18 pm
I think I am giving up on Tri Peaks. The wild cards have not come up in the last 2 hours and it has been very frustrating. The golf one is also boring. I am having more fun with my personal challenge, which is probably the only badge I will get this week. Too bad, because I usually get all 3!
donna r 11.15.09 at 6:34 pm
i didi get my tripeaks badge on wed but i also activated some other badges to do along with it This weekend i have played 9 games and have not had a wild card yet. My stats have remained the same over the weekend so my win loss is about the same. I run from 54 % to 59 percent wins. I do have winning and losing streaks but that has always been true in that game for me. I looked at my stats and i am at a 57% win this afternoon after the last game i played and ye to get a wild card to help finish up my premium badges. That is not what i normally get at all and i have been playing this game a lot more lately to try to get though a few ranks. That is not the normal for this game for me at least.
gl to those who are still needing to get though the badge. I do think there are fewer wilds this weekend. I KNOW there are fewer for me.
Melissa 11.15.09 at 6:39 pm
I got the Tri-Peaks badge after working on it for a number of days and plenty of late nights. The only way I seemed to get the badge is if I went into smaller rooms, as they were more likely to give the Wild out. I read from the chat that they, Pogo, should have made this an M&M badge, to which I agree. I don’t think they should have made it so hard for people to get. I think it took me over 8 hours to get the badge. If it had been 15, it would have been a lot more bearable than it was. I think whoever thought of this badge wasn’t thinking clearly.
MomsBassetHound 11.15.09 at 6:57 pm
I finished the Tri-Peaks badge for the 3rd time this afternoon….did mine and did it for 2 close friends. They both work and have families…. a life outside of Pogo….LOL I will admit that by the time I finished the 3rd one even I was getting tired of playing that game, and I really enjoy it.
I was surprised that there were more people who didn’t try the golf badge. I would have thought that more would have passed up the TP badge b/c of the time involved.
Congrats to everyone that has finished their badges and Good Luck to those still trying to finish them off.

I found the Tri Peaks badge a very long one. I wish the people that dream up the badges try them out for themselves first.
Mia 11.15.09 at 9:41 pm
Hello all.. Again :)
Can’t really complain about the tri peaks.. It hasn’t been that awful like I thought.. I seem to be doing pretty good.. Started off playing for about a hour or 2 and only got 3 wilds.. but started up again tonight and have been playing alittle bit over a hour and I am up to 11/35.. I am determined to finish because I like to collect badges and I am trying to complete my 2009 album.. already short a good amount of badges and didn’t want to add another one to the stack.. Thank you all for the tips.. I am trying different ones out and they seem to help.. Esp. the one about holding on to your wild until the 3rd chest..
Anyways I’m here to see if anyone is having the same problem as me.. The game is running fine..except when I finish the complete artifact (across top) and get to the last chest it freezes on me so I don’t get a artifact.. The one that counts towards your rank.. I was 3 artifacts away from my next rank and it froze twice on me.. and it still says I need 3 more to my next rank.. is anyone else having this problem.. I figured by getting this badge I would move up a rank or 2 but with it freezing on me I’m getting nowhere!! Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem or if it just me.. If I am not making sense I will explain again :)
lynda 11.15.09 at 10:40 pm
thank you all so very much for helping me with my questions. I enjoy this site very much and it is very informative..lynda

If anyone still wants tri-peaks badge find an empty room. Got 7 wilds in one hour to finish…and I do believe finished forever…but I said that about quack too. gl
Sunshine 11.16.09 at 2:38 pm
I think Tri-peaks is very hard to get 35 wilds I think it should have been 15 or 20 wilds I have been playing for 5 days like 6 hours a day I don’t understand all these people getting 7 wilds in 1 hours come really this game has just been a night mare
Mike 11.16.09 at 11:44 pm
Hi all-
Got my Tri Peaks badge yesterday, it took about 5 hours total. I was very fortunate, and had 19 within two hours. :)
Good luck all!
Christy 11.17.09 at 3:26 am
I finally finished that marathon badge. I’ve been reading the forums regularly and watching the chat, and know I’m not alone in my frustration with this badge. I wasted my vacation doing this badge for 26 hours. That is my own fault, and I’m not blaming pogo or anyone else for doing that. Do I feel a sense of satisfaction from finishing this very “challenging challenge?” I have to admit, no, I don’t feel one iota of satisfaction. I had to sit here and analyze why I completed it, since it got to the point that it was just making me mad and upset. I had been reading the forums and kept thinking, well maybe it would speed up and I’d get the rest in a short time. I also have a very hard time quitting something I have started, especially after putting so much time and effort into it. I kept thinking some of these people seem to think a long challenge makes it really challenging, and I do have a week to do it, and I’m off this week…… so. Ok, all silly reasons, but I did finish it. I did learn a few things about myself in the process, so I guess it wasn’t a total waste. I know pogo has just managed to cure me of my badge addiction.
It took me 6 days and a total of 26 hours to finish it. This means I got an average of 1 wild every 45 minutes. My stats were about average. 50-60% wins. That’s pretty much what you would expect from a game that is not based on skill, but rather on luck. There were times my stats for current session went down to 25%. There were other times they went up to about 75%. So, overall, I had a 50/50 chance of winning. There are 3 chests wilds can be in in the 6 stops across the top. However, more often than not, those 3 chests do not contain wilds. At best, maybe 1 did most trips. I achieved a few ranks. I don’t know how many games I completed, but probably somewhere around 400 games before I got 35 wilds. (Guessing by my stats.) I know some of you finished quickly but you have to look at the evidence here. Most did not. Many had to give up because they just didn’t or don’t have that kind of time. And, yes, they are also paying customers. As a mix and match badge, this would have been fine. But as a weekly, it was absurd.
I have set new rules for myself regarding these badges. Since you do have a week to do them, and I do enjoy working at them most of the time, and I have made some friends doing them, and I have occasionally found games I actually enjoy by trying these badges, I will continue to attempt them. I will work on them for 3 to 4 hours. If at that point I am nowhere near completion, I will stop. This rule will, I’m sure, go out the window if it’s a game I play on purpose to enjoy myself and relax, and I know Tri-Peaks is that game for some of you. However, 4 hours in a week is the most anyone should be wasting on something they neither really enjoy nor need to do. I used to be able to tolerate Tri-Peaks. I now loathe it. I do enjoy challenges and going for the badges, but there does need to be a limit. Even some that used to love that game feel the same way now.
For those of you that think the challenges should be longer than 4 hours because you have a whole week to do them, and you were able to do it despite working and having a family, let me just ask you a couple of things. Do you really think that you should be taking that much time doing something you neither enjoy nor need to do? Do you really think that time couldn’t be better spent with your family, or getting something useful accomplished? I mean, I’m all for wasting time doing things I enjoy, and if you enjoyed it, great. But, telling me long challenges, more than 6 hours in a week is fine because you have a whole week to do them, I start wondering how much of a computer addiction you have, and how much your family is suffering. I start wondering if maybe you need to do some volunteer work and give back to the community, because your life is obviously not full enough.
And for those of you telling us we are just whiners? Do you know of a better way to let pogo know how we feel, and what we wish to see? That doesn’t make us whiners. That does make us contributors to hopefully see a better game site. Funny how we haven’t been calling you names. Doesn’t mean I think it’s my whole life. But yes, I do have a very strong opinion that I would like to see taken into account when further weekly badges are made. And obviously, from this and the forums on pogo, I am not alone.
cameron barry 11.17.09 at 4:56 am
mini golf madness was so easy im not to worried about tri peaks im leaving it and doing it at a later stage as a personal
linda ruff 11.17.09 at 6:04 am
omg! what is the big deal?!? a “challenge” is supposed to be “challenging” i get so tired of going into a room on tuesday & that is all you hear…..people bellyaching about “how hard” this weeks challenge is! grow up people! it is not written in stone that you “MUST” get this badge or you will drop dead! if you don’t like it….DON’T do it! simple as that! and save us all from your whining. i personally think that this weeks challenges were somewhat refreshing. pogo has gotten lazy. you finish this weeks challenges in an hour or so…then what do you do with the other 6 days?!? twiddle your thumbs? and everyone is likening the tri-peaks challenge to the quick quack challenge a couple of years ago, well….. i didn’t find the quick quack one very hard!! i finished it in a little over an hour, and the game is hardly one of my favorites! i would LOVE to see a badge in something like word whomp that wants you to find say, 10,000 words….i would have that one finished in NO time at all!! but that is me. i enjoyed having a badge that took longer than 30 minutes to finish. people think i am crazy because i will get almost done with a personal, then reset it. it is because i am BORED!! they are way too easy!so, you people who have nothing better to do than whine about this weeks challenges, keep it to yourself, or better yet….DON’T do the challenge! i hope pogo comes up with more stimulating challenges in the near future! with that, i will wish you all happy holidays…happy pogoing…and good luck with next weeks “challenges”
Layla 11.17.09 at 10:00 am
Well, Linda…if you’re so BORED, perhaps you should clean your house, do laundry or take care of the people you love because I know I have a life and don’t want to spend ETERNITY trying to get a badge. What a mean spirit you have!
Marithoner 11.17.09 at 10:14 am
Wow, so much controversy over obtaining a badge. Kinda reminds me of Everybody Whines Bingo, heheh. In obtaining the latest Tri Peaks badge I made a couple of new friends so that was a positive point to this challenge for me. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it….Mari
Lura 11.17.09 at 10:16 am
Just a friendly reminder: try to be nice to each other here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and a few of the recent comments have been directly replying to things stated on the Pogo forums or seen in game room chat, not necessarily comments that originated at BadgeHungry. Maybe some of the responses should be reserved for the Pogo forums, but I’m willing to let people vent here as long as we can all play nice.
It may be easy to come here and post under a pseudonym that isn’t tied to your Pogo account, but that’s no excuse in my opinion. Please be civil and kind — just remember, there’s still another human being on the other side of your conversations and we’re all in this together, no matter our differing opinions, as Pogo fans.

oh-there are valid arguments to both sides-it did take up hours that could have better used elsewhere, but, it was doable. My shock was that it was compared to a QQ badge that took one hour…One hour???? You cant have sat through the QQ badge when it actually occured. They CHANGED the badge requirements after the fact becuse it was so very hard and unreasonable. They had extended the completion date while we were going thru it. You could not have had a job, nor could you eat, bathe, or sleep…Come on, there are exaggerations on both sides !!
Yes, this week I still did 2 accounts, all 3 badges in each and I had to juggle my time, but, they were both done by Sunday afternoon. Each tri-Peaks took between 6 and 7 hours for me. That is not a stretch, nor is it done by using any device to speed up the play. It was work and it was skill, and it was strategy. While it did cut into my time, I accomplished it. Am I proud of it? Not particularly, becuse I just did it like I do any other challenge –with determination. I didnt give it any mystical power, I just got it done.
These are emotions being expressed here and no one will change their mind or convert the other. I just think Pogo asked more than many are willing to give and needs to back off some. And for those that want more, I look at PBA and MnM as extra credit, so go for the big stats all you want, or rank out on all the games you want. There is something for everyone here, relax and enjoy it. And yes, we all can do some good works for charity and find nore peace in that, but, I do value my pogo experience, or I would not be here.
Thanks so much Lura again for having a site where many views are permitted in a safe environment.

Good Morning Lura, I am so happy to see that you responded about the recent messages that have been posted. I have stopped making any comments to the posts in the Weekend Forum or in other areas. It just seems that some people have gone over the top in their messages. We are all individuals and play these games at our own pace and ability. The prizes arent dollars they are tokens or gems so if someone chooses to play 24 hours a day 7 days a week that is their choice. But either way thank you Lura and maybe if these posts get nicer I might consider contributing but until I will not contribute.
Daniel 11.17.09 at 11:29 am
Hello everyone. The Tri-Peaks badge was quite the time-consumer, yes???
However, those of you who say it was based on luck were right. Sometimes I’d average 7 wilds an hour, sometimes 2. Overall it took me 5 hours for the badge, and I can feel the pain of all of you who suffered with this badge. But do remember that it is just a badge, and the point is to have fun with it.
Be happy that tomorrow’s badges aren’t as long. All you need is 7 chocolate coins in Sweet Tooth and 400 pins in Pogo Bowl. Looking at the current requirements for the rest of this year’s challenge badges, seems like smooth-sailing for most of you. Good luck tomorrow! ;-)

There’s been a new special notice from Pogo that the Stone Idol badge this week will be turned into a Special Edition badge and you need to complete it by midnight or you won’t get it at all:
http://www.badgehungry.com/2009/11/17/special-notice-tri-peaks-stone-idol-badge/
Robin 11.17.09 at 11:44 am
Lura…Pogo just released a tidbit in chat that this Stone Idol badge will NOT be part of the 2009 Badge album but will instead be converted to a Special Edition Badge. Looks like the whiners win again. Another sad chapter in the annals of Pogodom.
I was still playing because I was finishing up Spiral Serpent. Now there was a challenge!
tcfox 11.17.09 at 11:51 am
It just seems to me that the people that managed to get this badge in as little as 6-8 hours aren’t realizing how frustrated others are that they have put in the same amount of time and WAY more for the same badge & are perhaps only 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through it. Long challenges aren’t the issue here. Had the challenge been to reach the gold chest 35 times, that would have been a nice long skill based challenge. Everyone would have had to reach the gold chest 35 times, period. This week some folks had to reach it (depending on how lucky they were) at the least 12 & at most, well, who knows.
I have nothing against long challenges – as a matter of fact I prefer them, but waiting & wishing for the Pogo gods to smile on me is not a challenge….jmo
HomelessDog 11.17.09 at 11:59 am
GRRR…. So much for waiting until a less busy week to win this badge.
Melissa 11.17.09 at 1:12 pm
Personally, they shouldn’t turn it into a special edition badge; they should keep it as a regular badge. Those of us who actually earned it as a regular badge should have it count towards our 2009 badge album and those that didn’t, shouldn’t. Its not fair for those of us that have take the time to earn the badge.
Lura 11.17.09 at 1:20 pm
Melissa: good point, it’s not fair. I think it’s even more not fair to people like HomelessDog and some others who purposely decided to wait for a better week to complete the badge. Now they have to do it TODAY or they won’t get it at all. At least originally there was a chance they could get it eventually when time permitted (it’s not like the badge was impossible to complete — I’ve heard of more people who finished it than not). On one hand, I get it — it was an extraordinarily long challenge and not everyone who wanted to complete it was going to. Pogo had to do something, but … this is what they chose to do? In the end, I’m just really confused as to what Pogo was thinking.
Rock 11.17.09 at 1:27 pm
I agree with Melissa, They should have kept this as regular weekly badge and quit listening to the whiners. This is rediculous to think all they have to do is whine and get their way. Just goes to show you how they act in person and in real life challenges.
Kat F. 11.17.09 at 1:41 pm
Hi Everyone,
I got the TriPeaks Badge…after quite a bit of time playing, yes. Don’t know how I feel about it being turned into a Special Edition Badge NOW. Seems kinda silly to me. But that’s all I think at this point.
The thing I DON’T like about a challenge is when it’s based strictly on LUCK! :( To me that isn’t a challenge–it’s a gamble. I can win the game and still not “win the challenge”, ya see my point?
I chose not to go for the golf Badge. Yes, that’s true. I don’t like the game, and I didn’t expire with that choice, ROFL So it’s true, you won’t die if you don’t complete EVERY BADGE!! LOL LOL I am alive and kicking and posting right this second. :)
One last and major thing I truly DESPISE: WHINERS!! If you don’t LIKE the game or the challenge, then be quiet while working on it or don’t do it at all!! Give the rest of us a break, ok?
E’nuff said…I feel so much better!
Thank you for letting ME vent. :)
Have a great day everyone….thanks again Lura for a wonderful site. :)
(((Hugs to ALL)))

Mia 11.17.09 at 1:45 pm
I agree with others… Getting badges is optional.. Yes we all pay to play club pogo.. but I pay because of the games club pogo offers versus what Pogo has.. I also enjoy the ranks and yes badges.. But I have many badges incomplete due to not having time that week or not liking the game.. Recently though I have decided that this year I will complete the whole 2009 album.. Which means I will have to go back to play badges I did not like.. But I can tell you this.. I won’t let it get me stressed out or upset.. If I absolutely can’t complete a badge for whatever reason I will just leave it at that.. I come to play for fun and relaxation.. Not to be stressed out or mad.. because I have plenty of stress in my everyday life to add pogo to it..
The badge has made people go crazy! It seems that every room I go into or every forum I see it has people arguing about that badge or complaining.. Yes it is a long badge but if it makes you that upset.. simply don’t get it.. I’m sure almost all of you have at least 1 badge in your album you have not completed for some reason or another.. Instead of everyone getting mad remember we are in this together.. It is good to vent to each other but not in a hurtful way..
On other note I have mixed feelings about them turning this badge into a special edition badge.. Its fine with me.. it just sucks for others who have put off this badge for a later time because like they said it won’t be coming back and it won’t be available for a weekly challenge.. I know some people who have decided to wait until later and now have less than than a day to complete it.. So to those of you that are trying to finish it on your own will Good luck.. But remember its not life or death it is only for fun and if you find yourself getting mad or upset over it simply don’t do it.. I hope to hear from others soon.. Telling us of ways they made it through the badge.. Playing non stop..taking breaks.. playing m&m badges.. and what tips and hints they used.. Happy Playing!!
Lura 11.17.09 at 1:55 pm
Mia: I love this:
Let’s hear it, folks!
I took a lot of breaks, played a few “rows” here and there, and the wilds just naturally came. I made sure to use a wild if I was about to open a chest after that win, but other than that I just played as I normally do. I kind of enjoyed it. Now, Mini Golf is what got to me this week — I find the game tedious (and it’s only mildly fun to me with the hole-in-one screenshots) and I had to force myself to sit down and play round after round. Stupid game kept giving me 75 token jackpot spins too. In the end, I got both badges done by Sunday evening and I don’t feel I spent an extraordinary amount of time working on either of them.
kiki 11.17.09 at 2:16 pm
i saved the Cirque Tripeaks to do with this challenge as well as a MM (Temple of the Moon); the MM was more irritating than the weekly, as the 3-wins-in-a-row criteria re-set after the gold chest, regardless of how many wins you had.
guess i had more luck than others as i had no formula, other than trying to play smartly and quickly (choosing cards that gave me more plays, chainingchainingchaining). i played a few hours here and there, and managed to do 3 of these over the past 6 days. now we all have pretty Special Edition badges! i think the thing that helped me most was just keeping a calm and cheerful mindset. the minute i felt burned out, i just pet the kitties or read a book.
golf gave me no issues. for some silly reason, im good at those point-and-shoot games. i chalk it up to that archery merit badge in girl scouts, LMAO.
gary 11.17.09 at 2:27 pm
just to comment on the challenge for tri-peaks.I notice that people always complain about a badge that takes longer than others. To me i think they dont want to have to work for a bdage but have pogo hand it to them.It took me 4 gruelling hours to get the badge and with no complaint.Thats what weekly challenges are a challenge
tigger 11.17.09 at 2:30 pm
i just finished friends peaks and only took a couple of hours, as i was getting wilds left and right, but one tidbit if i may, it didnt show as a special edition lol..do i truly care?NO because its a weekly badge, why should it be considered spec edition, yes was special to get, since took forever for me on my other name lol…i took breaks, sometimes not…i sometimes had sound on too, kinda helped for some reason lol, also i just played..the game seems to get me in a trance and i get lost and just keep on truckin
Barbara 11.17.09 at 2:33 pm
I completed the Tri-Peaks badge twice this week, once on each of the accounts we have. The first one I completed on Wednesday in one push along with the golf badge and my personal. The first one took about 6 hours. After that I decided to break the other one up into three stages, doing 12, 12, 11. However, when I started out, I got into a great room with everyone cheering each other on, making jokes about the challenge and clicking on Tex for extra wilds, etc. The time really passed by pleasantly and I continued to play doing a little over half of the 36. Room atmosphere can make such a difference. I completed the second badge on my second scheduled day of play for it even though I was not making progress as quickly as I thought I would. That one took about 9 hours. Since I am retired, I do have plenty of time to play and I love doing the hard challenges. However, as a former working single parent, I have sympathy for those who work and/or have limited time for other reasons.
Im hoping if we have completed this badge Pogo will leave it in our 09 album as we surely did earn it or at least let us earn another in its place.
Ive enjoyed reading all of the comments about this challenge and congratulate all those who managed to live through it. Give yourselves a well deserved pat on the back and a gold star if you managed to have a good time and/or sense of humor while doing it.
Rae 11.17.09 at 2:42 pm
I agree with homeless dog. I wanted to wait. I decided to work on some sweet tooth badges to finish up some premium badges and mix and match. I guess I should have concentrated on tri peaks. I only have 11 out of the 35. Hubby has 23/35 of his. He has spent at least 6-7 hours on his so far. I dont think they should make it a special edition badge. I dont think either of us is going to get it..
Christy 11.17.09 at 3:00 pm
Turning it into a Special Edition Badge? At first I was a bit baffled by that as well. My first reaction was pretty much the same as yours Lura. And in some ways I still agree. But, then I stopped to think about it. Pogo is doing the best they can to address the countless complaints they have gotten regarding this badge. It’s not the ideal way, and I can think of a few better ways they could have addressed it. I still think they should probably extend a week for those that have put in 20 or 30 hours on this game and haven’t been able to get the badge. In addition to having it being a special edition badge. However, I am glad that pogo is responsive to its customers. That, I think is a good step in improving a game site I already love.
What I find amazing is how expressing an opinion on a game that is sheer luck is considered whining. I’m really sorry that you are unable to see that spending 20 to 30 hours doing something you neither need, nor particularly enjoy doesn’t seem to make sense. And as I said before, no, I didn’t have to complete the badge. Maybe I did it in part because I was sick of being called a whiner, and that I didn’t like a challenge. But, you see, I do love a challenge. But a challenge is not based on luck. Sheer time spent on a game does not make it challenging. I would have gotten infinite satisfaction had I painted my house in that time. That would have been a “challenge.”
For those of you that think this badge was at all based on skill, think about it. how much skill does it really take to count? That’s a skill I had by age 5. 1, K, Q, K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 4….. etc. This is not skill. Oh, if you play face up (many of us are too low level that we were playing with cards face down), you can plan it out a little better. but the card placement was still luck. And you could still easily lose no matter how “skilled” you feel you are at this game. In addition, wilds being in chests was completely random. You can’t even possibly come up with an argument as to that being luck. Some of you got 5 wilds an hour apparently. Many more of us got 1. Some didn’t even have that much luck. To call me names because I find this challenge not to be challenging, unless you consider having too much time on your hands and too much tenacity to quit something that you aren’t enjoying and don’t need to do…. well, it was certainly a test of patience. But that’s about it.
Deborah 11.17.09 at 3:05 pm
This badge was not hard and was totally doable. A lot of people just want the weekly challenges to be easy and fast to finish. That is not the object of the challenges. Us true and blue Pogo fanatics like a good challenge, and particularly the ones that actually take some brain power to complete. But I am glad that Pogo is at least letting us keep the badge. I am so sick of the whiners and complainers.
Kimberly 11.17.09 at 3:18 pm
I was hoping to do this during a week when I had more time. Now I am trying to get it in one day. i am not complaining about the time it takes to get the badge just wish that pogo left it alone.
vibirdlady 11.17.09 at 3:21 pm
I agree with Barbara Post #158, pogo needs to NOT make this a Special Edition badge but leave it as a personal 2009 badge. This way those that aren’t able to finish at this time will know that it’s going to take time and plan for doing it later when they schedule allows. I know that this is a badge that I truly earned and Don’t want it turned into a Special Edition badge. I have been back to play the Mini Golf Madness game since getting my badge there, found it to be a fun game to play. Looking forward to this weeks challenges as am pretty good at both Sweet Tooth and Pogo Bowl.
PhillyFilly 11.17.09 at 3:37 pm
Since Pogo has already decided to change the Tri-Peaks Stone Idol badge to a Special Edition badge, wouldn’t this have made more sense?:
Tri-Peaks Solitaire — Stone Idol 2009 (Super-or whatever) Badge
Use a ‘wild card’ 35 times between 7 AM PT November 11 and 12 AM PT November 24.
Win this badge plus 3000 Tokens.
Madonna 11.17.09 at 4:09 pm
Okay, now I’m getting a bit upset.
Right after Lura made a post, urging everyone to realize that there are real people with real feelings posting and reading here, there have been a flood of cheapshots posted, blaming “whiners” for Pogo’s rotten decision with this challenge (and I’ll touch on that shortly).
What part of “real people with real feelings” seems so hard to understand? No, I’m not going to name names. Those of you who felt it was okay to start calling people names know who you are.
Those of us who do not feel like working on challenges should be a full-time job (27 hours?!) brought up very valid points, I feel. We did so without hurling a single insult at anyone who had no objection to this challenge. Why you feel the need to upset us, I don’t know. But I think it’s absolutely uncalled for – especially after Lura brought up that very issue herself.
Would you have liked it if we blamed everyone here who said “Pogo thinks they can get away with this because some of the people say they want longer challenges. Thanks a lot!”? No? So why is it fair to attack us?
Do unto others as you’d want done unto you.
Furthermore, after the infamous Quick Quack fiasco a few years ago, we were told – on no uncertain terms – that Pogo realized they blew it, and would pay attention to what their members said in the future concerning challenges. Since then, they have refused to do so, and have crossed the line into giving us the finger at times.
What The Powers That Be at Pogo fail to understand is that without us, there is no Pogo. They lose their members, they lose their jobs, because there is no way that here in 2009 they can keep that site running off advertising revenue alone.
What that means is Pogo needs to drop the attitude, and compromise. They need to hold to their end of the promise to listen to members when it comes to challenges – which they have failed to do so. Yet again.
That said, Pogo’s decision on this challenge is a slap in the face, and a one-fingered salute. This is not a solution, or a compromise. This is Pogo acting like a bunch of bullies, saying “You want to complain? I’ll show you!”
The appropriate way to have handled this challenge, one where people legitimately found themselves playing for 4-5 hours a day, for SEVERAL days, would have been to do the same thing with Quick Quack a few years ago: Extend the deadline, admit this challenge was too much, and this time around start truly paying attention to what they ask for in challenges.
This, however, is a slap in the face to those who worked to complete the challenge in the first place. “Congratulations, losers. You went through all that for nothing! Gotcha!”
And, to boot, this is a slap in the face toward those who became frustrated the first time around, and had plans to make another attempt when they could activate this as a personal challenge. “Nope. Get it by the 17th, or it’s gone forever. No soup for you!”
In other words, to those of us throwing people like me under the bus for speaking out, DON’T BLAME ME. This is not what ANYONE wanted, and this is a “solution” that accomplishes the unthinkable at Pogo: It screws EVERYONE over.
This isn’t a solution. This is an insult. Please direct your hostility toward those who deserve it for this hair-brained decision: The staff of Pogo.
Anyway, between the insults from Pogo’s members, and repeatedly having Pogo’s staff spit in my face, mission accomplished. I will not be renewing my subscription when the year I purchased through Coke’s rewards program expires in January 2011.
Enough is enough. Pogo’s staff has made it clear they could care less what their members think, and I’ve had it with the insults and blame whenever Pogo does something like this.
ratpeople_ 11.17.09 at 4:27 pm
I completed both challenge badges this week, but it wasn’t with a lot of frustration. I agree with most that Golf was extremely boring and I would never play it again unless I had to. Tri Peaks, well lets just say I am glad that was over with. Got that badge about midnight last night, but I probably played at least 12 hours to get it. I took turns with my hubby – when I got tired, he took over. I am glad to finally get the badge – don’t care one way or an other about making it Special Edition. Wont be playing TP again for LONG time :-)
MomsBassetHound 11.17.09 at 4:51 pm
I have completed the Tri-Peaks badge 3 times this week and I’m now working on it a 4th time for another friend.
The first time it took me 14 hours of play over 2 days. I redid 17 premium badges while doing it. I needed something that showed progress after every hand to keep me interested. And I took lots of breaks, even if it was only 15 minutes to read the latest on BH. Once I finished mine on Thursday I told a couple of friends that I would do theirs….I actually like the game….still :)
I started the 2nd one on Friday and finished it on Saturday, after about 8 hours of play. I took a little break and starting working on the 3rd one and finished that by Sunday. That also took me about 8 hours of play. Taking short breaks made it easier and kept me from burning out on the game.
I played in the same room while doing all 3 and found most people to be very pleasant. Almost everyone was chatting and trying to buy wild cards or swap their artifacts for one….LOL
I don’t think they should have changed it to a Special Edition badge without giving more notice. There could actually be a lot of people that don’t see the notice, not everyone goes onto Pogo each and every day.
If they wanted to do this they should have made the announcement earlier or they should extend the badge for another week. That would give everyone a chance to complete it. I can understand that some considered waiting to complete it when they had more time….a long holiday weekend, or even when on vacation. Not everyone has the time that I do to play games.
Good Luck to anyone that needs to complete the badge this evening.
Suz
Christy 11.17.09 at 5:12 pm
Madonna, I can feel your frustration. And you and I are on the same side. I’m not as frustrated as you are with their decision to turn this into a special edition badge. I think pogo messed up with this challenge all the way around, but I think they are trying to figure what would be the best way to go.
I do have to agree with you that challenges that are 20+ hours and are based on luck are not challenges. And I haven’t whined once or ever even complained or posted before when a badge took me more than 6 hours to complete. I agree with you fully when you get into 20+ hours on a badge, that is over the top. I also agree with you completely about the people calling us “whiners.” Funny part is they don’t even realize they are “whining” about what they consider “whiners.” They say they hate “whiners” yet they keep whining and complaining. It’s almost comical. Luckily I am not thin skinned, so I haven’t taken offense.
Actually, as for your amusement, I actually find this debate way more challenging than I found that challenge. It was time consuming. But it wasn’t at all what I would consider a challenge.
Sheljin 11.17.09 at 5:22 pm
Wow, lots of news, lots of thoughts…..
I want to answer a few of these postings, but first I will answer about my own experience.
I finally got my badge this morning before work. I have worked on it daily since Thursday. I absolutely took way longer than the 6 hours which Pogo chose to list as the top time for this challenge, but gave up trying to keep track after the first night. I cannot play for 6 hours straight, hardly ever. So, trying to keep track of the 30-60-90-120 minutes I was able to hop on & off over the last four days was just too much work. lol
Perhaps if I had been able to sit for the 6 hours, I would have finished in just one sitting. We will never know. I also tried all the suggestions -clicking (we called it, errr, *kicking* Tex in our rooms) while he knelt there, all vulnerable. lol I tried changing rooms – after each artifact, and then tried changing rooms after I found a few Wilds, but started coming up empty again. I tried re-doing an old MnM badge – I got it done fairly quickly without it apparently helping with the Wilds at all, as was the case with the “hints” – but it was fun to try them. lol
As I expected, the last 5 wilds came much faster than the first 30. In the category of “I know what I know from observation and experience in Pogo, but I know I won’t convince all of you” I find that alot of Pogo’s weekly badges suddenly become “easier” on Monday & Tuesday. I have had friends say that such & such a badge took many hours, and I end up getting it in just a few, because I often procrastinate, especially with games I’m not overly fond of.
So, anyway, I had hopes that once I had 30, that maybe I would luck out with the last 5. I did, with the last 3 coming in one artifact — only the 2nd time all week that I got 3 wilds in one game.
I play this game well (for the purposes of reporting here, not bragging). My win percentage is about 60% and it did not fluctuate more than is normal for regular play in this game. Therefore, I believe I had the “skill” for the supposed “skill” portion of this game, but it did not help me get this badge sooner.
I also like the game – had it on my cell phone for awhile – I find it generally very relaxing. It is one of the Pogo games I play when I don’t necessarily have a badge to do, but just want to play something fairly mindless before bed. But, like the QQ badge (a game I also don’t mind), I don’t foresee myself playing TP again any time soon. Thanks, Pogo, for ruining a game for me, at least for awhile.
I do not feel like I “whine” but I have had what I feel are legitimate concerns about this badge and I voiced them. I was in quite a few rooms where others did the same, but very often it was with humor. I met some very nice people and since so many of Pogo games lately don’t seem to have “chatters” anymore, it was nice to have that as a common bonding experience to help pass the time. I guess I’m trying to say, you CAN do both: Have legitimate concerns about a badge and/or the game, but still be able to (mostly) have good humor while doing it. They are NOT mutually exclusive.
~Shel
Christy 11.17.09 at 5:24 pm
Oh, and just one final note. There is a difference between whining and making a reasonable argument in a debate about whether badges should be this long. I am not whining. I completed the badge. I am not whining that pogo wasted my life. I did that myself. I am making reasonable arguments for not making weekly badges that have taken some in excess of 20 and even 30 hours to complete. I am making reasonable arguments to show that this is a badge of luck, not skill. I have not once resorted to name calling. How many on the other side of the coin can say the same?
Sheljin 11.17.09 at 5:42 pm
Some thoughts about posted thoughts – just sharing, not attacking. lol
Lura, thank you for what you said about remembering there are really REAL people behind the screens.
Linda #138 – There is no way you did the original QQ challenge in an hour. I, too, like the game and am good at it and that was an atrocious challenge, and I believe actually physically impossible to get that many games done in just an hour. I felt really badly for the people who were NOT as good at the game as I was, but I did not finish that in the first week. I was happy when Pogo extended the time for that badge. More on that later. I will also say I’m sorry you are “bored” on Pogo unless challenges are long, but – for me – I like other Pogo games, I have played in leagues, I have friends I hang out with in different games we all like. I would add, I don’t believe Pogo owes you a way to stay occupied 24/7 and I certainly don’t want them taking my choices away to do so.
Pat #142 – I generally agree with all you said, including the fact that you weren’t feeling particularly proud of getting this week’s TP badge. It was what it was. However, I admit that it appears I resented the time spent on it more than you. I ended up playing nothing else after I got the MGM badges (did the MnM birdie one also)…not my dailies, or any of the games I play for fun. I don’t mind a challenge, and I definitely have no problem with it taking all week, on & off. But I shouldn’t have to give up the games I love all week to get a badge. That’s how I look at this one.
Mia # 153 – I appreciate what you said and the calm, thoughtful way in which you said it. But I still believe that earning badges – especially the weekly badges – is one of the key elements of joining Club Pogo. It certainly is one of the main reasons for my membership.
Christy #160 – Totally agree with what you wrote, especially about being able to express an opinion without being labeled a whiner, lazy, etc. I also agree with you completely that winning TP is not just a skills game – so it was not like this badge was “half skills”. Sure, could you be really bad at it? I suppose so. lol But, I think I’m really good and there are definitely hands I just can’t win because that is what solitaire is – a game, not a sure-fire winnable process.
Deb #161 – I am a true & blue Pogo fan, too. I believe a true fan cares enough about the object of their affection to want to help better it when things go wrong. This challenge went wrong. We have a right to express our opinions about it without someone trying to say we’re not real fans. Same with politics – but, don’t worry, Lura – I won’t go there. lol Except to say — Americans fought for their right to free speech and they should continue to fight against anyone who wants to limit it.
Philly #164 – Excellent suggestion.
Madonna #165 – Brava. Completely agree.
Pogo should NOT be making the change they are making, at least not in the way they made it. More later, however, because I have to run again!

Quickie from a long-time last-minute badge-getter lol: To those still working on the badge, or are faced with trying to do it in one night: I would try it, at least to see what happens. As I said before, I find that often challenges/badges get easier/quicker closer to their deadline. Once 2:00 a.m. (eastern) hits, you may want to not change rooms – but that is me being overly cautious perhaps. You will generally have an hour after that, then Pogo cuts it off. I plan to write Pogo to ask them to once again rethink their solution. I would urge others to do the same. If there is any hope of them extending it, making it a true “special edition”, then it helps your cause to show you tried to do it by their rules once you learned of them. Just a thought.

Yes but it makes me mad, fr those who have finished it already and didnt whine about it. It was a trying number of wilds but not unreacable. i got mine on Thursday afternoon. So we are only going to get one weekly badge for the week of November 11 thru November 17? Is that fair?????
I don’t think it is fair to those of us who work and all and still got it.
deb 11.17.09 at 6:53 pm
i found that if you wait in the game tri peaks, n sit without playing in between i got more wilds
Anita4856 11.17.09 at 6:55 pm
Okay I worked for HOURS to finish Tri-Peaks as I did for the Duck badge.
I have only one personal left and it is Pebble Beach Golf and have tried for months to get it and just can’t.I have begged for help but all I get is “you don’t have to play a game unless you want to”Why not give me a break and change it to Mini Golf Madness or even a Special Edition badge?PLEASE
Carol 11.17.09 at 7:01 pm
TYVM, TERI M. FOR THE HINT ABOUT GOING TO AN EMPTY ROOM. I STILL JUST CAN’T SEEM TO GET THE W’S. I’M LITERALLY ON THE VERGE OF TEARS NOW THAT IT’S A SPECIAL EDITION BADGE. WTG ALL OF YOU WHOM HAVE GOTTEN IT, CONSIDER URSELVES VERY LUCKY! GLA ON ALL UR FUTURE BADGES. STILL LOVE POGO <3, CAROL
Cyrabi 11.17.09 at 7:21 pm
Yikes. If someone tries really hard to get the Tri Peaks badge and doesn’t get it in time, they can’t try again? Dang that stinks. Pogo can’t extend the time frame so everyone can have a chance to get it? I already got it after HOURS and DAYS of playing. Good Luck to all the players still trying to get the badge.
tigger 11.17.09 at 7:24 pm
deb, care to explain a bit more on ur method?because with ur explanation if i am gettin it right, to sit and wait between the chests and u got more wilds this way?if im correct in this is what u meant, u have to play between chests, otherwise well, u dont get wilds nor anywhere in the game lol
Star J 11.17.09 at 7:32 pm
This just really gets me upset , I accepted the challange , I accomplished it not only for myself but for my better half as well so I managed to get the Tri peaks Badge twice ! . I am now going to be one challange robbed of a yearly because of all the whining about having to put more effort into something then a short 15 mins .. *sigh* I am feeling robbed . I know I have done many challanges that I do not like just to get the badge . But I put the effort in none the less with little bitching. Now because everyone dosen’t like to have to put forth the extra effort on something the rest of us are screwed in a way. This is just wrong , come on people you have a week to get these things done !

You know I have read all of these comments and everyone is FULL of emotion, regardless of what kind. This is gaming site. Everyone pays for their own membership. Everyone has a RIGHT to express a concern, opinion, even a thought (which is why Lura has this).
Yes it took me all week to get that badge. I am not upset at what they are doing. Maybe they should give us 3 challenges this week to make up for it. Wouldn’t that work?
Listen everybody, emotions are real sometimes to real. The point is we all love playing on pogo. We all love the games, people, the sites (like Lura’s) that help us, connect us.
Let’s not take it out on each other about an issue Pogo has. I am 1000% sure it is very hard to please 1.5 MILLION people. It’s impossible if you ask me, but at least they try. At the end of the day they supply a gaming site we all have come to know and love…
I hope we all can put this situation in perspective without harshness….
Thanks all
Joy 11.17.09 at 8:19 pm
I think Pogo has lost it. Just leave the TriPeaks badge alone and extend time. Like they did for that Duck one. Pogo not only made this badge a marathon now they are robbing the people who got it.
MomsBassetHound 11.17.09 at 8:32 pm
I don’t understand why those of us that finished the badge are getting so upset about what album it goes into. You still have the same amount of badges, you aren’t losing anything. You will still close out your 2009 album as long as you have completed all the other badges.
You aren’t losing a badge. It’s just going into a different album, the same thing they did with the badges when they retired a blackjack game.
We should be more concerned for the people who weren’t able to finish it, and will never be able to complete it.
Just my 2 cents :)

Thats Completely Bogus…..I want the Badge…and planned on getting it the next chance that i can….just had an Off pogo week..
they shouldnt change it and make it disappear FOREVER…….Now that it exists, i dont want it taken away b4 i have the chance to get it…
thats not right either…why not leave it somewhere, that we can still activate it and let those who would like to still earn it, earn it……..
Boooooooooooooo
I dont have Enough time to get it now………….
NO FAIR NO FAIR…………….
Ugh
Karen 11.17.09 at 9:16 pm
Tri-peaks took me a little over 12 hours to finish.
Whoever thought that badge up should be forced to sit in a chair for 12 hours and listen to members complain non-stop, preferably from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. the next day.
Ban 11.17.09 at 9:59 pm
@Karen
Haha! I so agree!
On the other hand,
I don’t find it wrong, If you had an off week, so be it.. be happy you they are being kind and not making you sit through such a hellish badge.
Secondly, I got this in 5 days off and on, and at times ate supper late for it, trust me (people who skipped it or were busy) be happy you didn’t do it!
The Avatar is ugly, and I hope they change that at least… they should be rewarding us with 50 gems or such LOL.
Christy 11.17.09 at 10:51 pm
LOL personally for the 26 hours I put into the danged thing I wish it were at least animated.
Sheljin 11.17.09 at 11:47 pm
Moms #182 – Thanks for saying that, Suz. I was starting to think I was totally missing something. We have the badge – why aren’t we most concerned about those who were unable to get the badge, and may never get it?
I also don’t get the – pardon the word – “whining” about losing a weekly badge (that isn’t actually going anywhere – you still won it). This is why Pogo made this mistake – again. They hear a bunch of complaints, they react, they come up with a (bad) solution, then they just hear a new set of complaints – this time from the people who claim to loathe whiners.
I don’t mean to downplay anyone’s feelings, but I’m not understanding the “hurt” that Pogo has supposedly done with this decision to people who have the badge already. Did you want to be able to brag you got a badge others couldn’t? I’m sincerely curious.
The people who have the right to be outraged now are the ones whose *choice* was taken away. They saw a badge they could not do this week, and made the choice to do it later as is their right. Pogo took that from them. They are the wronged people in this saga, period. If it were me (and it very nearly WAS me), I would be furious!
Having a badge become a special edition does not take away your “accomplishment” – you still did it, the badge’s wording doesn’t change, you still got it in a week. Where is the insult? the hurt?
Pogo will add another badge to the yearly album……or they won’t. Who cares? It is still going to be considered “complete” whatever number they give us. Is the album somehow damaged with 103 challenges rather than 104? I don’t think so.
In the whole history of the Club, to the best of my knowledge, there have been only TWO BADGES Pogo has ever had to adjust for this reason. Two! That’s a pretty good track record. Yes, there are complainers almost every week about something – but almost every time, Pogo says – oh well (or something equally unhelpful lol) and leaves well enough alone. So, to act like Pogo is “constantly” giving into a “handful” of whiners who want all their badges to take just “15 minutes” is just a little off-base and a great big exaggeration.
The reason Pogo did anything this time is simple: The volume of people affected. Congrats to all of you who keep saying it was “doable” and perhaps got it in 5-6-7 hours. But are you just not believing all the many other people, like me, who took much longer than that? Obviously, Pogo has ways to monitor the truth of this situation and they have acknowledged the badge took…..too…..long. The fact that you got a random/luck badge in 5 or 6 hours just means you were lucky this time. Pure & simple.
This challenge was flawed. Pogo *should* acknowledge it, and I applaud them trying to fix it. But they made another mistake, ironically due to the outrage which erupted *after* the dreaded QQ badge was revised. Then they had people outraged for having their original badge somehow “demeaned” because there was no indication that they had suffered thru and gotten the original version in just one week. I’m sorry – but, to me, you all want credit for being able to sit in a game for however long it took. That isn’t a badge, that isn’t a challenge. It is just having the time to sit there, and choosing to use your time that way.
BTW, there are people who would say the original QQ badge was “do-able” too. I have friends to this day who get totally steamed at the fact that anything with that badge was changed for “lazy whiners” who just couldn’t get it done. I shake my head at the idea that they think having a life that allows you to sit on Pogo all day long (and I don’t mean that as an insult – these friends *do* have that that ability and choose to play all day) somehow should be rewarded and a legitimate badge goal. There shouldn’t ever be a badge that takes that long – or it belongs, as was said above, in a MnM or an album – where you purchase what you are willing to do at the extremes of game-playing.
IMO, Pogo made the decision *not* to extend the time for this badge directly because of the 2nd wave of QQ whiners, the ones who were mad that their “accomplishment” was diluted. Who even looks back at these badges? I have to admit I have never once looked at someone’s profile for the purpose of seeing if they did the dreaded QQ badge during the original week. If that was an important stat to me, I guess I would also have the original date memorized and could therefore easily tell if someone’s QQ badge was an original or not.
Pogo made a mistake. There is no way to easily fix it and please everyone at the same time. So, the goal should be to do the least amount of hurt. For me, the most hurt is suffered by those who will be unable to ever get the badge at all, through no fault of their own. For those of you who did get it, no one can take that away from you – can they?? You know what you accomplished.
Continued good luck to those still trying………

Another Perspective? 11.18.09 at 12:00 am
I’m not sure where I sit about Pogo making it a limited edition – I totally agree a week’s extension would have been a better idea.
BUT – speaking as a university instructor who had to deal with suspected cheating recently, wracked my head for almost a week on how to deal with it, made up what I thought was the best solution and announced it to the class only to have one student scream at me causing me to call in campus police because the other students were scared that student would be the next shooter – I’m pretty sure all good intentions step on the toes of someone… Somebody at Pogo thought this was the best way to deal with it. I may not agree, but that’s the way it is going to be. (I do agree with the poster that said it should be animated though! LOL)
nephthys 11.18.09 at 12:28 am
I actually really like this idea! Maybe not for this badge (personally, I didnt find it too difficult) but for badges like this. It was brought up in a letter once how it wasnt fair that the Quick Quack (yes, THAT badge) challenge had been first extended and then changed once it went past, which allowed people to earn it fairly easy. There should have been a way to denote who earned the badge under what rules, but of course, that wasnt possible.
Thats how I feel with this one. For the people who completed it, its like an extra little something else… for working hard the whole week and getting the badge done, we are being rewarded with no one else being able to earn the badge. I understand everyone has different reasons for not completing the badge, but in my experience (from personally knowing a lot of players) it was simply lack of trying.
Sue 11.18.09 at 2:10 am
WHY can’t they do Both?? Leave it open so those who didn’t or couldn’t finish it in time still have the opportunity to earn it, and for the ones who were lucky enough, and yes I do think luck had alot to do with it, be rewarded with the special edition award… Maybe that way it would please everyone. As for me, it took everybit of 12 hours or longer, and that was with every trick, & hint I heard people say to try. One time I actually played straight through (opened all 4 chest) each game, for 4 1/2 games, (that’s 18 chests) before I got a wild. Oh, but I did open quite a few and earned a whole 1 token for my time and effort… Maybe POGO should reward us with 35 gems! now that’s a thought. At least we have a new weeks worth of challenges to look forward to~~~ GL Everyone.
Christy 11.18.09 at 4:02 am
I did realize one thing after the challenge was over that I failed to take into account when I was figuring up how much was luck and how much was skill on the Tri-Peaks game. And, just because I am who I am, I wanted to clarify. If you are level 5 or above or above, I understand you play with cards face up, rather than face down. Since I have only played the game one other time for another badge, I had only played a few games before. I went from level 0 or 1 to level 4. Close to level 5, but a couple of artifacts shy. If you were playing past the level where you play with cards up, I will say that would add some element of skill. You would have the opportunity to plan ahead and count some cards. I am wondering how many of those attributing some skill to that game were playing with cards face up and had forgotten that it is all luck when you play with the cards face down. Even with the cards face up, there would be a large amount of luck in what was left in the deck, and if there were wilds in a chest or not continued to be all luck. But I will give credit where credit is due. Certainly playing that way would add at least some element of skill. Thanks for allowing me to clarify that point.
RW 11.18.09 at 6:07 am
Well, I wish pogo could have made a different choice on how to handle this badge in Tri-Peaks. I feel bad that people who struggled with it and either gave up or fell short of the 35 wilds will not get the chance to try it another time.
I have more than one account and since joining pogo near the end of 2005, I have never attempted to do a full year’s worth of badges till this year. I chose one account to focus on to try for every weekly badge. When weeklies came up in games I can’t stand, it was my choice to “bite the bullet” and try and to my general astonishment (keeping fingers crossed…lol), so far, I have kept up and have all the 2009 badges. Hoping to be able to finish out the year and complete the album.
I may choose to do the same next year with a different account, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
The one thing I learned from this week’s badges is, when one comes up that takes more time than others, it really helps to join up with a friend ( I went to PC with my friend) and the chatting and teasing and general joking around with her really made the time pass as we slogged thru the game. We both ended up getting the badge and didn’t feel as frustrated cause we had each other to lean on.
have a great day everyone
Yolanda 11.18.09 at 7:55 am
I always enjoy Tri Peaks Solitare and most of all the games on Pogo and when it becomes a challenge well that is great! But when Pogo makes hard to make your badge and at times even though you sat in front of your PC trying to get and still don’t make well that is just very upsetting to us. It is very unjust for the ones that did make thier badge and lose it because Pogo decided to change it to a special badge.
When a new badge becomes way too hard of a challenge to make then it just isn’t worth the effort and fustration not to mention the hours and hours in font of our PCs.
