Gifting Services Coming to Pogo

by Lura on October 22, 2009

gifting Gifting Services Coming to PogoSoon, you’ll be able to give more kinds of gifts to your friends via Pogo! Currently the only “gifts” we can give are Premium Badge Albums, but Pogo is going to be implementing a whole My Gifts section where you can give and see what you’ve received. You’ll be able to give Mini items, Premium Badge Albums, and Mix-n-Match badges to your friends. It’ll show you exactly what you’ve received too, and who gave it to you.

In the Mini Mall, for example, you’ll be able to select “Give as a Gift” (in addition to “Try” or “Add” to your cart) and it’ll stick the item in your Gift cart. You then choose your recipient and send away! It appears as if you’ll be able to send items worth tokens and gems, though that may change in the future.

Let’s hope Pogo gets this neat feature up and running before Christmas, I suspect a lot of people’s shopping lists will be shortened considerably if they could easily gift tons of mini items and mix-n-match badges to their Pogo friends!

Do you think you’ll use this feature? Do you like the idea of now being able to gift more than just PBAs? What else would you want to gift to your friends?

Lura… not exactly on topic, but did you see that Pogo now has Official Forums? It was just announced to Facebook Fans.

As far as the gifts, I love the idea of being able to use tokens! It would be so much fun to exchange Christmas gifts without spending money… I’m even thinking a “secret santa” might be a hoot with a group of regular player friends!

Lura 10.22.09 at 2:50 pm

kathe: totally on it already (you must have missed the post by a mere seconds):

http://www.badgehungry.com/2009/10/22/pogo-now-has-forums/

Now that it’s out of the way… let’s get back to talking about GIFTS!

Secret Santa is such a cute idea, I hadn’t even gotten beyond the initial hope they’d have it ready in time for Christmas.

I like this idea esp for the mini items cause I have lots of tokens and some of my family member don’t so I can buy mini items for them and they get to keep there tokens I might even gift mix and match badges also

finally!!!! i’m so happy to hear this…is there any chance of being able to gift gems to people? i don’t know why pogo hasn’t done this already..can’t wait for this to be activated…thanks for the notice lura…have a great day!!!

Lura 10.22.09 at 3:15 pm

jill: if they’d mentioned anything about gems I would have covered it in my post for sure. Alas, no gifting of gems yet.

debbie 10.22.09 at 3:19 pm

i will use the gifting aspect of pogo as i have family and friends that we play regularly and this would give us a greater mini closet of items and as far as a forum goes not sure but will give it atry

i am ECSTATIC! using PBAs for contest prizes was getting old and limited; most players already had them, and pogo subs became moot with that Sandwich-Shop-Giveaway-That-Shall-Remain-Nameless, lol. the interface looks very much in place and i am crossing my fingers that it’ll be up and running by the holidays.

i would sincerely doubt pogo will add the option to gift gems–they already have everything you can purchase WITH gems considered, so that wouldn’t be efficient even if they can get around the legality issues.

a big round of applause for an idea that i can actually use!

I am happy this is going to be taking place. I have been asking pogo since forever to be able to gift esp the mix and match badges and gems. I really hope they get the gems thing under way bt what a friend and I did was I changed my pw and gave it to her and then she went on my account gifted me gems using a diff credit card and then i changed my password back to what it was but I help her alot and she wanted to pay me with gems as I buy all albums as soon as they come out so she never has a chance to gift me an album.. Go POGO Go… let us gift gems too…. U know u can do it..

MariaLoon 10.22.09 at 3:42 pm

This is a great start! Even if we can’t outright gift gems, being able to gift mix n match badges is wonderful! I’ll have a “wishlist” of sorts now LOL ;) heheh

MomsBassetHound 10.22.09 at 3:42 pm

I think it’s a great idea. Sometimes you would like to give someone a gift, but might not want to send an entire album. It will be nice being able to just send a badge.
And I love the idea of being able to send items for someone’s mini. I already have a gift idea for a friend of mine, hope they let us do it by Christmas.

I think this is an awesome idea!! I just hope we can gift gems too! That would be great!

12

ketzra 10.22.09 at 3:53 pm

I love it! I love it! I love it! I’ve been wanting Pogo to let us gift mini items since Addiction Solitaire’s release. If we can gift tokens, how awesome would it be to gift mini items too! I can’t wait for this to take start. :)

13

Eve 10.22.09 at 3:59 pm

YEAH !!! Finally, I hope it work well for everyone and it would really be neat if you can share things from your own closet, such as an item that someone has admired and you can bare to part with it.

14

Lura 10.22.09 at 4:03 pm

Eve: I just had that thought and asked my “source” if it was possible to gift something from your closet that was no longer for sale and sadly the answer is no. :(

15

cln4evr 10.22.09 at 4:54 pm

As long as they implement some kind of wishlist to go along with the whole gifting action. I’d really hate to buy someone something they all ready own or something they wouldn’t wear for any reason whatsoever.

16

Eve 10.22.09 at 5:04 pm

Ahhh Man !!!!! Thanks Lura. I had a friend who really like the long straight hair with the earrings and I have 2 of them. Should would have been nice to share one with her. In fact, they really need to let us have a rummage sale tee hee.

17

tcfox 10.22.09 at 5:15 pm

Never let it be said I can’t give Kudos when they are due (I really don’t complain about everything….hehe) This is a VERY good idea for all the above mentioned ideas. I give it a big thumbs up!!!!

18

kiki 10.22.09 at 5:27 pm

to #15: there is a feature that will stop your gift from going through if you try to give your recipient something they already have. you may also decline a gift, if it’s not to your taste (although i would certainly let your friend know you appreciate the thought).

and you cannot give a Club Exclusive item to someone who does not subscribe to club pogo.

19

Jennifer 10.22.09 at 5:40 pm

I agree with Eve that it would be awesome to be able to gift something from your Mini closet that is no longer available. I’ve got some clothes and backgrounds that a Pogo friend would love to have but she missed because she didn’t join up until after they had already been removed. She’s been hoping Pogo would re-release them but all of the recent re-re-rereleases just seem to be things only a couple of months old. I’m hoping that this will be added to the gifting in the future. (A gal can always dream, can’t she?? lol)

I think I kind of like the gifting idea. It will be cool to be able to gift mini items to someone who doesn’t have enough tokens to buy a lot of expensive backgrounds themselves or who can’t buy gem items.

Before I compltely fall in love with the idea, I’m going to wait to see it rolled out and see how it works. How things work in theory then how they work when they actually hit Pogo can sometimes be two different things! lol

KayentaJane 10.22.09 at 5:47 pm

Ah-Ha! Something to do with my 72 million worthless tokens! Outfit everyone on my friends list with every-token-thing in the mini mall! The the pogo consumerism frenzy begin… … just as soon as it’s opened…

21

Jeannie 10.22.09 at 6:55 pm

awesome idea!! I have several friends that, due to financial limitations, cannot afford gems. I would love to give them some mini items (for already overfull closets – lol) and badges to work towards. Sure hope that it is ready in time for Christmas – my list overflows with folks!! Lura, thanks again for this marvelous site!!

22

nessa 10.22.09 at 7:03 pm

Cool, been waiting for this long ago, it was so frustrating i couldn’t gift someone a M&M or mini items, about time, always wondered why we could gift only PBAs.

23

Debbie 10.22.09 at 8:36 pm

in my opion its nuts!!! you learn as a child if you cant afford something you dont buy it and cant have it. prime example why were in this mess. wake up people

24

Wendy 10.22.09 at 8:37 pm

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this idea !!!!!!
(Even though I detest the word gift being used as a verb, lol)
Darn that Pogo, I just can’t stay mad at ‘em ! :)
A chance to spread the mini/shopping obsession –
insert dancing cacti here !!

25

Robyn 10.22.09 at 8:39 pm

I think this is a GREAT idea! (Apparently, so does everyone else -lol). I believe it is also a good marketing move on Pogo’s part, I’m guessing it will actually increase buying activity. Everyone loves to give gifts – as well as receive them! What do you all think?

26

EdC 10.22.09 at 9:53 pm

It’ll be fun to send my mother a hideous granny outfit secretly :)

27

nessa 10.22.09 at 10:26 pm

wow I totally disagree with Debbie, post #23, because is not that people I know who can’t afford gems is asking for gifts, they know they can’t pay for gems and they don’t buy them (I guess they learned well when kids and sorry but I have to laugh …lol…), but if I can afford gems, and I CAN, why not make a friend happy? Not being able to buy something because you can’t afford it (and I’m not talking only Pogo but real life also) doesn’t mean you can’t receive gifts from friends. I’m fully awake and I still think this is a great idea from Pogo.

28

EvilQueen 10.22.09 at 10:48 pm

This I don’t mind being able to do. I think it would be fun to be able to surprise a friend with whatever gift from time to time. This is the first change I have seen with certain things lately that I actually like and can’t wait to see.

29

kathy ( dreamykoolkat ) 10.23.09 at 12:10 am

I have to disagree with Debbie (post 23) as well. It is really nice to send a “gift” to people either it be an album, a badge or an outfit. I think this is awesome that ppl who can afford a nice gesture be able to do it. I have gifted a few ppl with albums and it has been the light of there days. One gal just got word that morning she may have cancer and she already suffers from a disability and she opened my gift of an album ( I don’t have a ton of money either – but they aren’t that expensive and I didn’t know this news until she wrote me after she got my gift which made it all more special to her) that afternoon and it was the highlight of her day to have a friend she has never met in person be nicer to her than some of her “real” life friends. I still have that letter of thanks from her. Thankfully the tests came back negative but she struggles as a single mom to 2 kids with a disability. To me it is worth a few dollars to buy her an album or a special mix and match badge. It really makes me “glow” knowing I have made a “small” difference in someones world who can’t afford the extra’s in pogo. Keep up the great work Pogo.. I also help ppl with rated badges by helping or by doing and any of the game badges too. My nick is dreamykoolkat and if u need help just holler.
Happy wkend ahead all.

I really like the idea. I’m struggling with financials myself, so I wouldn’t dream of buying anything with gems. On the other hand, if a friend of mine with a more secure job wants to send me an album (because I’ve never done one) I would think that would be a very thoughtful gift – and one I don’t have to find room for in the apartment!

I also think it would be neat to work on a M&M with someone – I could see one person buying the two badges and gifting the other. Actually, that might be a good idea for Christmas for those relatives that always “want to spend more time with you,” but you’d rather not be in the same physical room with them. LOL ;)

mell 10.23.09 at 5:38 am

This is my first visit here and wow thanks. I love the feedback part, and the hints are great. I can only hope that pogo goes through with gifting, what a great way to celebrate the holidays with your pogo friends. I like cards, but this whole thing will be way more entertaing. I hope they allow us to use tokens, and gems, would be so much nicer for people that buy gems continually. (like me) LOL Thanks again for such an interesting site for people to go to.

LINDA RUFF 10.23.09 at 8:35 am

yes, i would use the gifting….if they do it to where i can use my gems also. i tryed to buy my son a pba the other day. well, i was broke but had gems sitting up in the corner looking like little bumps on logs. i went to buy the album, and to my dismay, you can only purchase pbas to gift with credit card or paypal. well…if that don’t burn your butt!! i bought the gems, i should be able to use them like cash. and, i tryed to post about the forums also. yes, i would use them too. if it is a place where i can air my growing dissappointment with pogo. and IF they will listen. i have been sending them comments, complaints, whatever you want to call them about the glitch in dice city rollers. the one that will steal anything form a turn to a whole round from you. they have not even answered me on one of them. there has been a problem with the game ever since they put it out, but pogo & ea games are sooo busy trying to cook up more ways to get money out of us that they don’t have time to fix the problems with any of the games. my disappointment has been growing by the day with pogo. and my membership is due in a couple of weeks. then they do something nice like say they are going to introduce gifting….makes me forget all about my disappointment, until i went to do this weeks challenge in hog heaven. isn’t the point of a “CHALLENGE” to be “CHALLENGING” ….getting the badge in 1 minute and 32 seconds is NOT my idea of challenging! so, i am back to disappointment….lol thanks for listening to my rants….maybe pogo will make my day & open the forums so i can go back to happy & do this on pogo.

and as i said, i would welcome any passes. i am on a fixed income & my membership is coming due. it might make me stay for another year…..lol….happy halloween to all!!

34

Bella 10.23.09 at 10:51 am

I’m am sooooooooooooooooooo for this!!!! I think this is an absolutely fabulous idea (and a I certainly hope it will keep to be token purchases as well). I’d love to see this feature up and running before the holiday. How much fun would that be?

35

sandy z 10.23.09 at 10:55 am

i like the idea! only if no one ever gifts you then you feel friendless lmao!!

36

nephthys 10.24.09 at 8:54 pm

I see gift giving coming in the very soon future… because you can now give gifts on the beta site!

37

boxer 10.25.09 at 1:28 am

love this idea! i always give pba to my friends bday, now I have even more options

38

frutekake02 10.25.09 at 4:39 am

I would love the option of buying things for my pogo friends! I know that some cannot always afford to buy some of the premium challenges and so it would be exceptionally cool if I could send them a gift! Once I even bought a badge album for a complete stranger! Gal was in this room and she was telling her friend about her pregnancy. She was saying how bored she was to be stuck in bed with no challenges to do except the weekly ones. Unbeknown to her, I went and bought her an album. That’s just me. I didn’t do it for any recognition, I did it because it brightened her day when she found out about it. It was neat. I am just that kind of person. So, in answer to the question….Absolutely, postively, definitely, without question I would use that feature! (probably wear it out LOL)

39

Ben 10.25.09 at 7:05 am

I am very happy they are coming out with gifts…I was just looking the other day to see if I could gift someone a Mix and Match badge and found I couldn’t. So this will be something I been waiting for.
Thanks for the info Lura ;)

40

BigSexyMama2000 10.25.09 at 7:18 pm

Yes i will love that feature that sounds great ….like my son would say me like that lol

41

Tara 10.25.09 at 10:09 pm

I would like to see the ability to gift gems. That way the recipient can decide how they would like to use them. I’m not certain I would use the gift feature being on a fixed income but still think its a great idea.

42

kathy 10.29.09 at 11:56 am

i would like to be able to gift gems to a friend if they needed to get gems and could not be able to buy them. It would be nice of i could gift gems for them. I think it is a great think pogo is doing letting us gift more stuff. Hope someday they will come out with us being able to use our tokens to buy things like gems .

43

tigger 10.29.09 at 3:52 pm

im so looking forward to this feature, if they actually come out with it..tara, if they did, you wouldnt have to buy anything out of pocket, except mix and match badges or the albums(currently only thing we can gift)because the mini items would be bought with tokens

44

Christi 11.08.09 at 1:57 am

i totally disagree with 23!!! i really love this idea! I saw a shirt in the mini mall the other day that said WORLDS BEST GRANDMA! and i thought of my grandma and how i would LOVE to send that her! just somethign simple and small….its not like people are asking for poeple to buy gems and spend them on stuff to send to others… its all what you want to do with your tokens and or gems. I jsut know there are some thigns that i wouldnt mind to send to my grandma or my fiance! Does anyone know when this is going to start and take affect!?!?!
