Phlinx is taking me forever but I play on beginner. How many are some of you averaging on harder rounds? I’m only getting 25 or so.

EdC: there *are* tons of people hitting the site for the answers this morning/today, and the server problems started just about the same time the weekly challenges did! We’ll get it fixed soon, though.
Phlinx is going to be a tedious challenge I think (or maybe I’m just doing it wrong). I just pew-pew the stones up to match, don’t worry too much about dropping groups of stones, and I’m chugging along at a little higher than EdC’s rate (maybe 30-40 per round). It’s another long one, folks! :)

is anyone else finding out that when they use the answers on here for crossword cove they don’t work?

Lura I am also getting about 40 matches per round for Phlinx. It’s not going to be too bad though, I spent less than an hour on it today and I’m at 775. 3-4 hour badge is actually a challenge, kinda nice for once.

Oh good, I thought the problem getting in was just me, lol. CC didn’t take too long, especially on easy. Phlinx is not a game I like much, I’ve been averaging about 45-50 on Medium. It’s going to be a long slog any way you look at it and definitely one I’ll work on occasionally throughout the week.

Do they only keep the Crossword Cove puzzles 3 months back? I have not played since it came out, but I thought they were keeping for 6 months like Trivial Pursuit. When I went in to play today, the farthest back puzzle I could play was July 8th.

I have seen many people recommend BadgeHungry for CC answers today! One guy said the site could steal your account info but he was set straight pretty quickly.
Anyway, I don’t really have any tips for the CC badge, since it’s pretty easy, especially if you have the answers. Phlinx is going to take a while but it sounds like I’m doing well. Got 160 matches the last round I played, but I’m averaging about 100 per round. I play on easy and focus on matches. I don’t drop groups of stones until I absolutely have to (when I am going to lose if I don’t get rid of stones about to hit the line). If I have nowhere to shoot and match a stone without dropping a huge group, I just aim it somewhere else and create a new place to match without dropping other stones.

cookie: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the answers work for ANY level in Crossword Cove. If the answers don’t line up with your puzzle, you’re just on the wrong date somewhere. :)

Cookie, the problem isn’t the answers. You do have to play on easy or else it doesn’t count towards the badge.

I’ve been able to get between 40-60 each game for Phlinx. So not to bad but just obviously a long badge to work with. I’m playing on beginner.
BTW, I have to say I as well have seen this site and a few others dropped in the Phlinx room to people talking about the crossword badge. While I have seen that I saw one person trying to tell them it was cheating and Pogo watches out for those that cheat. I couldn’t help but laugh. For me and some other players I know, if it wasn’t for this site or any other site that gives those answer we wouldn’t be able to do the weekly badges or try to get the rank badges. So thank you for doing it and those that help you as well.

Phlinx- playing on medium. I’m getting close to 50 per round. If I get less, it’s because I’m playing too fast. Don’t go for points (big groups). Just hit the small matches (even if they don’t drop any balls).
CC- remember that this sites answers have both the US and the UK side answers. US is upper and UK is lower. Also really make sure you have the right date. JUst remember to play on easy for the challenge.

Timing is everything on Crossword Cove. It’s kind of like the TP Patience badge. I have to wait til tomorrow morning to finish because I was current on my puzzles.

I too play on beginner on Phlinx, just started from the bottom and tried to get a set one at a time, and you don’t have to make them drop. moving right along, and think I now need about 120 to get the badge.

Beginner was better to get more matches on Phlinx.
Glad I looked ahead for upcoming weekly challenges,
I didn’t play CC for a few days to get it done.
Same thing for the Trivial Pursuit challenge coming up for the week of
Oct.21-27, have to get 200 questions for badge. So, I won’t be playing it for 10 days before challenge!

I decided to play Phlinx on beginner and I’m getting 40-50 each round, so not bad really, plus I don’t mind this game. I also am reading lots of comments in nearly every chat room I’ve been in today directing people to this site for Crossword and also Trivial Pursuit help. The word is spreading like wildfire today. Thanks Indy, though I don’t deserve the thanks! My thanks goes out to everyone who’s been supporting this site by mentioning this site and making sure people know it’s a safe place to supplement their Pogo addiction! :) There’s a challenge coming up in a few weeks for Trivial Pursuit (upcoming challenges here), so I’m hoping to see a lot of new faces around here over the next few weeks!
Thanks for the great tips in this thread, I’m going to try the beginner level next time I head back into Phlinx to chip away at my badge again. :)

Yep the answers for me on Crossword cove did’nt work one day for me either. I tried and I tried but that words would’nt work. I was confused and really pissed at the person who put them in (Lura I think your name was used quite a bit that day. I just hope I din’nt make your ears itch too bad) (lololol) I can laugh now cause it was something really dumb. I had the dates right was even in right country, but you know what – - – Them trivia words and answers don’t work good at at for crossword cove.
Never even dawned on me that I didnt have a crossword diagram up there. Teach me to pay attention to detail better. And I won’t point no fingers at anybody but I am willing to bet a small error was made when those that tried to enter answers in their crossword too. I do them for 3 different people beside myself and other than that day I goofed up have never had a problem.

DAWG: *lol* What happened to you was certainly unique — there’s definitely a difference between a screenshot of a crossword and a numbered list of trivia answers!!
Anyway, I think there is usually one of a couple different causes when someone says the CC answers are wrong. They could be playing the UK version, which is several hours ahead of the US and it might already be the next day. They could be using a ‘saved puzzle’ instead of ‘new puzzle’ in the game. They simply chose the wrong date on either the calendar or on this site’s archive. I know for certain the answers are always correct for both CC and TP, because if they aren’t within 3 minutes of posting them I get a swarm of email, hatemail, and complaints like you wouldn’t believe! :)

Duh me – forgot to change puzzle back to easy from last one on normal – LOL…one thing I always do with both TP & CC is go to calendar to choose date just in case my time is off & then always choose new puzzle despite what the message says on CC…haven’t had one issue with wrong answers from here except for that day way back when…anyway, thanks for all you do here & good luck to all.

On Phlinx I’ve played ALL DAY on everything from easy to hard… duh? Didn’t seem to make a difference… except maybe for my next rank. I think this challenge is a real challenge of patience… LOL. It did take me ALL DAY to get my badge… but, when I got my badge I was only one game away from my next rank (started with 11 games for my next rank) … so toughed it out and got my next rank. I do beg your pardon, as I’m one of the guilty folks for *advertising* Badge Hungery on Phlinx for help with the CrosswordCove badge… GOOD LUCK EVERY ONE

Iwoz10- For the Trivial challenge coming up. If you don’t play the UK side at all, you can use those for the challenge. No need to give up your tokens (episode bonus) for 10 days before the challenge.
And if you are caught up on both sides (like I am) and you want to do the badge in one day, just don’t do the puzzles for 5 days (for both sides) before the challenge.

For the upcoming Trivial Pursuit badge…..The way it is written it doesn’t appear that it needs to be the daily questions, looks like you can just answer the random questions. You don’t get tokens for the random questions, but you don’t lose the 3,000 daily bonus either. I’ll answer 200 questions for no tokens instead of losing 30,000 bonus tokens.

I don’t think can be said enough – YOU HAVE TO PLAY ON EASY, AND ONLY EASY, FOR CC! I totally missed that and couldn’t figure out why the chat wasn’t showing my progress towards the badge. That actually annoys me a bit, I thought badges were always “easy or higher difficulty.” I didn’t come here for the answers this morning, but I did try to come here to ask why I wasn’t getting credit. I finally *duh*’ed myself and read the badge more carefully, but I hope they get a flood of emails for that badge like they did the poorly phrased one – I can do the puzzle on hard, so let me get my tokens for hard too! GL to all on the Phlinx marathon.

for luras comment on #21 i have had the wrong answers/dates messed up also so now i make sure i look at the calander instead of hitting the play todays puzzle shortcut it definately deleted errors (of that kind) for me also and alway double check to see if u r in US or UK pogo room ;)
also in case no one know in phlinx u dont have to make any balls drop all u have to do is clear groups i get about 60 to 70 (sometimes more) and i play on beginner mode hope this helps those who didnt know

Got booted from a Crossword Cove room with a cripes error message. When I went back to Pogo and finished the puzzle it didnt count toward the badge! Annoying, but there are worse things. FYI everyone, accurately complete your puzzles, dont leave in the middle or it looks like the puzzle wont count. Even though this was Pogo making me leave and not by choice.

Okay, I guess Im weird (so Ive been told), but I had better luck playing Phlinx on the hard or expert level, altho I am certainly not an expert at this game. Since I have a ton of tokens (to buy that car or house, doncha know), I dont worry about losing tokies in games. After all, I get a lot of freebie tokens thru this wonderful site as well as those offered at Pogo, so it doesnt bother me to lose a bunch. Good luck everyone with your challenges! Regards, Mari

I like Phlinx, and I like the fact it is a longer badge. It wont be difficult to get, just will take a little time… and at least its not as bad as that time we had to drop 5,000 stones (or something like that)
Im SOOOOOOOOO excited! I FINALLY scored over 200 points in Pogo Bowl the other night! Wee~ I managed to finish the 10 pack album (that had just that one Pogo Bowl badge in it for YEARS) that I never thought I would finish! So, for my personal challenge, I am going to get that badge where you have to win one game over 200 points. ^-^

For the Trivial badge you told here above, its easy to do it in a week, so why you will hurry? You dont have to make it in 1 day. If you do it in 5 days and you play every day the US and the UK-version, you have the badge without loosing any tokens. So it will be easy to get it!

debbie: there is no truth to that rumor. Pogo can’t tell if you use this site or any other to get answers for crossword puzzles or trivia (or Hangman or Word Whomp or anything). And to add to that, Pogo doesn’t “punish” people by taking their badges and tokens away, they issue warnings and bans of varying severity levels, but that’s usually for language and behavior-type issues.
Either way, feel free to read their Terms of Service with your account and make up your own mind. :)

Most of you probably will already know this, but for those who don’t. When you’re playing Phlinx, if you come across a ball you can’t use, but would like the next one you can ‘Hold’ a ball. There’s a box, on the right hand side of the line (near the bottom of the screen), if you click that, it’ll ‘hold’ the ball, you can then reclick it to bring the ball back into play, and it’ll hold the next one.. and so on.
JUST literally found this! .. and yet nearly finished the badge. Dang!! lol

I would think anyone that started to do the UK Crossword (and they are from anywhere else in the world)…they would realize right away that something is amiss….some of the words in that puzzle are very strange to me. But I guess ours looks just as strange to the UK people.
And I agree about Phlynx…it is nice to have a bit of a challenge..but I like the game, so that helps.
NEPHTHYS #33….WTG!!!! I finally gave up and asked a friend to get it…it took him one game to do it, and I had tried for over a year over and over and over. That bowling over 200 is a hard one.

Happy Birthday Iwoz! I’m 2 days later then you and have you by a couple of years. One Libra from another, don’t let it get you down. Crossword Cove is testing my patience this week.
I just generally tend to think of it as less of a challenge and more of a test of patience when there are badge requirements like this weeks’ CC. Let other puzzles that you have done count.
Lura, do you know if the upcoming TP challenge is going to be daily puzzles or can we do random puzzles? Just want to know so that I can calculate if I need to save up days. Thanks.

i enjoyed both challenges with phlinx was getting any thing from 50-70- a time still took 3 hrs but nice to have a decent challenge.as for crossword was way easy just hit hint then solve and was done in 15 mins.didnt need to look here for answers and was still getting good tokies

What a refreshing change….Pogo put the CHALLENGE back in the challenges this week, at least with Phlinx. Got it in jst a shade over 3 hours on Beginner….so for all those still seeking…jst chip away at it like Lura says. Lots of funny comments in the game rooms but these stand out: Long azz boring badge, I’m asleep, wake me up when it’s over and the funniest …. I’m getting uglier every minute….lol
I’m a word whiz (blush blush toot toot)….AND…..MODEST to boot….lmao so don’t check the CC answers but I guess for lots of struggling new folks….that’s what Lura and this site are for…a real GODSEND!!!

Hi Everyone.
Is it just me or does anyone else find it odd that Pogo would issue a challenge that goes AGAINST to true spirit of what the game is really all about, i.e. Phlinx. You score more points and win more games NOT by making matches but by dropping balls! That’s NOT our directive with this badge. I’m just puzzled by this.
I’m a huge Phlinx fan and play every night to wind down. Love the game and am having real difficulty going for matches instead of playing the way the game was intended. Guess it’s just me??
The last Challenge we had was more in the spirit of the game…dropping balls. That’s the way it’s supposed to be played and played to win, plus gain rank. :)
Oh well….not for me to question. hmmmm? But I’m on my way to finishing it. Won’t be long now. :)

Not many tips I can give you with this week’s challenges. If you’re having problems with phlinx, just click like mad until you get 3,000 matches lol. (I’m not a big fan of this week’s crossword cove badge since u don’t get as many tokens on easy difficulty, but I guess that’s because we have the answers, isn’t it? lol)
Granny, badges like that in pogo bowl require practice, but they are doable (if that’s even a word lol).

Pogo does take away tokens and badges if they find a problem with you. I personally know 4 people who had to start all over because of it.

Teri: you mean because their account got banned permanently? That’s not really them taking tokens and badges away from you. Just to clarify: I’ve never heard of Pogo actually removing badges and tokens from someone’s account, but they do issue warnings and suspensions/bans of varying lengths.
Anyway, to put an end cap on this part of the discussion: read through Pogo’s terms of service and decide for yourself. If you’re not comfortable with it, don’t use the answers. Just don’t forget there’s still plenty of valuable information and chat to be had here, and no matter how you play you’re welcome here. :)

While I was doing my Phlinx badge yesterday, people were complaining about having a hard time doing the Crossword Badge. Of course, I chimed in and told them about B.H. Of course there were those who add they didn’t like cheating. My response was not everyone can do crossword puzzles and needs a little help from time to time. I also said, on everyone puzzle I’ve ever done the answers were either on the back pages of the puzzle or newspaper. Guess what? Not another peep.

Ok I’m sorry I had to actually laugh at the fact that someone would go into a chat room and discuss anything coming from this website that would or could do anything to harm anyones pogo account…
I dont have to defend Lura, or this site, she is very capable of handling anything that is on here in a professional manner, and she’s right, if you are uncomfortable with getting answers from here, there are far more things offered….
However I do have a question….for those that were spreading the untruths, I wonder if they think Pogo is gonna tackle “every” website that does anagrams, and scramblers for Scrabble, Qwerty, and Boggle Bash just to name a few, or the 100+ other sites that give you somewhat of an advantage?
Lura I commend you, on a very well respected, enjoyable place to come and discuss many many things…I will graciously tell anyone in any room how much I will continue to support Badgehungry……it rocks!!!

granny: Thank You! I was soooo excited to finally be able to do it… and twice! What I did was (and thank you Lura for putting it on the page about pogo bowl…) go to youtube and surf through the videos showing how to get strikes. Go through a few and see what one works for you (I found one that lets me get either a strike or a spare everytime…)
Im also an October baby! The 26th for me (5 days before halloween :/ )
To get back on topic… sort of… I do not see an issue using the answers posted on the site here. It would be the same as having a person sitting next to you and helping… and its a -lot- different then using a cheat program (which I would never do)

not sure about when they ban u, but when u do get suspended, thats all they do..if they ban u which would mean for life and u cannot use that name or make a diff name for that same account, then well they can do anything they want with the badges and such i mean, since u cannot use it anymore..there are alot of ppl that dont like others using answers on sites and such, does that mean u should stop?thats up to u, but for me, i dont listen to that crud, i come here as i please, because thats what im allowed to do, im allowed to use the answers, if we werent, they wouldnt b put up for us…btw, ugh still pluggin away at phlinx(ewwww)..and i tried to hit hint then solve, it didnt count for me..

Yes, my niece had to change her name since it was declared obscene after 3 years. It was Lovemynutz. Someone in a room decided it was obscene so pogo took her badges and tokens and told her she had to get another account. I wanted to tell you that you are doing a great job here, I visit several times a day just to see what is going on. Thanks for all your hard work.

i saw you wanted to put a cap on this but i see a few more after that, and i’d like to tell this story…i didn’t mention this site yesterday, for a couple reasons: 1( didn’t need to, it was already being done by others ;), and 2) i recently told someone about the subway thread. she said she would try it, and so did another…next night, i go in my usual room and the first person wasn’t there, the second left like a flash, w/o giving me her usual hi/gl, etc. so i feel like she either didn’t really look for the link, or didn’t do it right. but it was a tad hurtful getting the cold shoulder like that. thought i was making a new friend there for a bit. she didn’t bother to ask how to find them again, or anything. oh, well. her loss. btw, i created an account for my sis w/ my passes, she’s never had internet before, lol! and yes, i came here and added 218,000 (yes, i did the math) tokens for her! and yes, she knows all about the ONLY site to come to for all things pogo, lol. thanks again, lura. you’re the best!

For those of you that are still concerned about using the CC answers I have a couple of questions to ask you. How is Pogo going to find out? Are they going to give you a special crossword puzzle to see if you can complete it? What if you have more than 1 account, like a lot of people do, and complete it from scratch on the first account and then just use the same answers on the second account?
I saw people in Phlinx saying that using the hint button and power ups in CC was cheating…..Pogo put them there….to be used. It’s just the normal weekly badge BS. There are just some people that like to cause trouble and will do it whenever they can.
And I’m fairly certain that the upcoming TP badge will be for the daily questions and/or random questions. Pogo doesn’t advocate doing both the US & UK sites, so that means that they wouldn’t put out a badge that couldn’t be completed in a week. Not everyone bothers to look at the upcoming badges, and that means that if they were current they would not be able to complete the badge unless you could do the random questions.

I haven’t even started crossword cove yet. It says “successfully complete” 3 easy puzzles. So if I don’t use the answers here and try it alone do I have to find every word? (that ain’t happening) If I leave some blank will it count?

Thank you MomsBassetHound.. I was afraid of that. My computer sometimes freezes whenever I attempt to open another window which is why I was going to try and wing it on my own. Kinda feel sorry for those who don’t know about this site and are struggling to find all the words. If I remember correctly,playing crossword cove on easy wasn’t very easy!

Moms accually alls they need to do is check out how fast your doing the puzzle if people are concerned about it slow down you have 15 mins to do the puzzle shrugs its all I could think of lol anyways also theres not that big of diffrence between easy normal and hard maybe 500-750 tokens at most the diffrence is the cost of power ups theres 4 for easy 2 for normal and 0 hard also Pogo doesnt mind that you use Us/Uk site this is from letter to the editor on the Uk site
Lack of Pogo News updates / Token bonus info: Just so you know, we have separate token promos on the US site and UK site. US-specific ones won’t always get a mention on the UK site and UK token bonuses (e.g. Game of the Month and Bingo Nights) rarely get covered on the US site. The fact is that it’s possible to claim Token bonuses on both sites, if you’re so inclined. But the fact that you read about some Token bonuses in US News (and not in UK) doesn’t mean you’re getting a raw deal. We do give away a pretty large number of Tokens on the UK site too.
You can read the whole letter blasting pogo for unfair awards on the Us side just switch to Uk mode and check the pogo news

I finished the CC challenge whoohoo! I stink at crossword puzzles but was able to get the badge with ALOT of help from BadgeHungry. I used the power-ups and hint and when I had one letter left to find I just went through the alphabet til I got it. Not done with Phlinx yet but I’m more than halfway there and I play on Hard. For EDC (and anyone else who doesn’t want to use the answers for CC) In Phlinx yesterday alot of players were talking about how to do the CC badge this week. They said they got the 3 puzzles done in a few minutes by just hitting hint then solve, hint then solve. They said it counted for badge progress and they got good amounts of tokens.
Me personally, I’ll be using the answers given here…lol

BANG! BANG! BANG! -sigh-
That was me banging my head on the table. Last night I did the 3 crossword puzzles while watching TV. No badge. Hmmm… Must have hit enter and they weren’t correct. No problem. Do them again today.
Did 3 puzzles again while watching football. Still no badge. Sign out, log back in. Darn it. Check the date on the puzzle and answers. They match. Do another puzzle. Hit Enter.
DOUBLE DARN IT! Just as I hit enter I realize I don’t have it set on EASY!!! Take an aspirin for my headache. Pour a glass of wine. Change setting to EASY!! Start over. Tell DH to stop laughing.
Good thing there is more football on TV.

Dear Pogo:
Are you mad at us? Have we done something wrong to deserve such a harsh punishment as HOURS UPON HOURS of playing phlinx?? I thought the mix and match challenge was slightly mean until I activated it with the weekly challenge… I am about to finish my 49th round and I still only have 1527 matches. What this says to me is that I will have to play a TOTAL OF A HUNDRED rounds?? 25 games of phlinx?? AGGHHHHH I feel like my head is going to explode and only halfway done. I’ve tried all levels of difficulty and everything I’ve read on the tips but I really would love to know if there are some new little tricks anyone has come across *pretty please* because I don’t know how much more Phlinx I can handle. :(

Deidra. I can only echo what has already been said about Phlinx. Play on beginner and try not to let any balls fall, go for small matches of colours. You don’t have to win the round for badge progress so sometimes to make as many matches as I could I was letting the screen fill up then starting over when I lost the round.
Doing this I was usually getting anything between 50 and 100 matches per round.
