Two New Games in the Works

by Lura on October 2, 2009

According to the interview with Dan F., Pogo’s got a bunch of new games and features in the works, including two new games!

Gosh, there’s so much I don’t know where to begin. We have loads of great games coming out, including a really fun game called Flower Daze with a hilarious hippy character in it and a really cool Clue hidden object game. We’re also going to make it so that you can give all kinds of goodies to your friends on Pogo, which should be lots of fun. There’s lots more that I shouldn’t talk about, but let’s just say we’re adding tons of cool stuff that will be included in your Club Pogo subscription.

These two games will probably be a long time in the making, as we’ve still got Battleship, Risk, and Block Builder that are considerably farther along in the development cycle.

We’ll keep you posted as we find more news on both the upcoming changes to Pogo as well as Flower Daze and the yet-unnamed Clue hidden object game. Stay tuned!

Big thanks to Jessica who scoped out the newsworthy bits in the interview!

So glad pogo decided to do a hidden object game. I wonder if this will be a download game though..any word?

EdC: I wondered the same thing myself, but at this point all we have to go on is what was quoted in my post above. Sometimes scoops come from unlikely sources and I think we’re lucky to have gotten as much as we did from these normally tight-lipped folks. :)

Im glad pogo is coming out with more games. i think it would say if it was a download game.

I love hidden object games and it would be great if it wasnt a download game but obviously we will have to wait and see. I like that its a Clue theme as that has always been a favorite game of mine. So maybe with it being a Hasbro game it wont be a download.

Both games sound promising, but the idea of “giving all kinds of goodies to your friends on Pogo” leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Can “POKES” be far behind?

I hope its not a download game. While I do enjoy them, I would really like for one of the hidden object games to be one you can actually play on pogo.

Also, I saw ‘Clue’ and got all excited, thinking it was going to be the actual board game, lol. Dont think so any more, but I can hope! ;)

I’m going to be lookin forward to Flower Daze and I agree with EvilQueen, I hope it’s not a download. Just don’t have that kind of room on my PC. I love hidden objects.

I’m just wondering what the heck Flower Daze will be.. lol. And I guess that pictureka musem mahem could be classified as a hidden object game, but it is still a download.

i’m thinking that these won’t be downloads–pogo actually develops very few of its own downloads (those in the Pogo Originals section, for example), but rather leases them from other developers (PopCap, Subsoap, etc). but who knows. and pictureka is both a hasbro game AND a download, so they’re not exclusive.

i get the feeling that pogo is not doing as well with downloads as they once were–the deluxe games are suffering, of you look at the numbers (not) playing them, and there are so many sales these days it’s silly to pay full-price.

i’m wondering if that flower daze won’t be a tower defense-style game.

I think they’re not doing well with the downloadables as well. Maybe because ‘after’ you buy them, there’s always some access violation error (that has nothing to do with your puter) and you have to wait for a patch update, if any. I found a tip on the last problematic game I bought which was to go and download the installer from the UK site. It actually worked and I was able to play error-free. So I keep that in the back of my noggin if there should be something that I may like for the future, but I’ve stopped buying them in general because of this. It’s a shame because I think the downloadables are a load of fun and a nice addition to the site whenever you can get them to work properly.
Btw, I LOVE these new hidden object games that are coming out and would like to see more of ‘em, hopefully not as a download. I hope Flower Daze has some groovy little badge icons =)

Welllll, I sure hope these new games can actually be played on the site. But did Dan really give us enough info to know? Not sure myself. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were downloadables. Afterall, they have released alot of new games and already there’s several more in the works. Don’t think there’s been any word on new downloadables lately or have I missed those? I would think they would be working on a downloadable for release soon.

In my opinion Pogo NEEDS a Hidden Object Game badly. I’m all for that one. Pogo’s been missing that BIG boat for a long time now. That genre is huge right now and still growing.

Something else they need, another Match 3/puzzle type game and I’d like to know WHEN they are gonna bring us one?? Could it be The Flower Daze that Dan vaguely mentions? He didn’t give us much on it.

It has a very similar name to another game already out and it’s a Match 3…makes me wonder if Pogo’s version will be too. I’m kinda tired of the ONLY one (that comes to mind) they have–Sweet Tooth. You can only play that game so long before you race for your stash of M&Ms!! Or the candy corns, especially, lol AND how about that chocolate?? OOOHHH YUMMMMMY!!

When I read Dan’s Interview, I was a little confused about where those “goodies” would come in…would it be from playing in the Hidden Object Game such as “gifts” like Addiction Solitaire, where we send and receive by winning? Yeah I know, sounds kinda out there, lol But he kinda said it all in the same sentence. It was just my first impression after reading it. :) Certainly would be nice….

Then again, MOST probably it’s ANOTHER “Facebook/MySpace App!!! YUCK!! Just HATE those!! I DO NOT WANT POGO TO TURN INTO A SOCIAL NETWORK SITE! For heaven’s sake, there’s enough of those out there!! Please–POGO, stick to GAMES, GAMES, GAMES!!!

All in all, the best news from Dan’s Interview was the news of a Hidden Object Game…just hope we can play it on the site! :)

That said, here we go waiting again—My FAV thing to do, lol

Thanks again for the update, Lura, and thanks everyone for their informative posts.

Have a great day everyone. :)

(((Hugs to All)))

Well seeing as how Facebook and Twitter are a super highway to getting more people to playand more and more companys are buying in to it heck even xbox 360 has partnered up with them
if it means that pogo has to go that way before there so called competitors then more power to them I dont see how its a bad thing thet are expanding themselves

just because you dont like it dont use it but if even if 1 person likes it then to them its worth it

It says a clue hidden object game, not the game CLUE. think you’re confused.

Kiki, the tower defense game idea is interesting… that’s certainly a genre that Pogo doesn’t have covered yet. Like one of the other posters said, I wouldn’t mind if Flower Daze was a match-3. I like that genre, and although I enjoy Sweet Tooth, an alternative would be nice. I hope the badges are “groovy,” too!

I had assumed that these would not be downloadable games, because Dan said “we’re adding tons of cool stuff that will be included in your Club Pogo subscription.” Now that I reread the interview, though, he could be referring to the mysterious “giftable goodies.” I’m not too keen on the idea of those myself.

Cheers!

Ban, the first letter of the word being capitalized makes it seem as if they are talking about the actual game named “Clue”.
~
I also hope that they do a true hidden object game to be played on-site but I also hope it’s not as small as some I’ve seen. I’ve played hidden object games online before and the screens were so tiny I could barely make out anything.

As for the giftable goodies, I wonder if they are talking about mini mall stuff. I’ve wanted to be able to give things to friends before that they like but weren’t going to buy for themselves.

*shrug*

I guess we’ll find out eventually.
