Happy Weekend Everyone!
Did you see the Letters to the Editor this week? Boy, they sure dropped a bomb in this one:
“Editor: Pogo has thought about chat forums for a long time now. And we’re still thinking about them. Why? Well, because we’ll be launching them. When? Soon. Define “soon?” Sometime in the future! ;)”
What do you think of the idea of Pogo adding forums to their site? Do you think it’ll add to the Pogo community or detract? Do you think you’ll participate? (I have some pretty strong opinions on this, I’ll chime in with a comment toward the end of the weekend, so as not to influence anyone.)
It’s been kind of a quiet week around here, so let’s spice things up with another giveaway, shall we? This weekend, I’ll be choosing 10 commenters at random to win two 3-month Club Pogo passes (that’s six months of free Pogo). To earn an entry, just leave a comment below answering the question above.
(The rules: though you may earn multiple entries by making multiple relevant comments, only one prize per person. If you don’t want an entry say so. This thread will be open for comments until approximately 8pm EST on Sunday evening. Please use a valid email address so I can give you your prize. I reserve the right to change or add rules as needed.)
Also, don’t forget: even with all of this contest/sweepstakes/giveaway stuff, this is still the weekend open thread, you can still ask for help, offer help, talk about the latest happenings, ask questions, whatever you’d like.
See you in the comments!

Oh ho! Got my two-year anniversary badge from Pogo Uk!

The fact that Pogo makes fun of itself by asking and answering when they’ll launch chat forums kinda says to me they’re nowhere near doing so. I guess it depends on how they’re set up and managed whether I’d participate or not. You do a fine job of “controlling” the entries and topics.
I respectfully decline entry into the contest and pass it on to someone else since I won something in the last one. Thanks…
Deb 09.25.09 at 9:19 am
Well everyone, Fall is here in Upstate New York. I miss the summer already. This just “leaves” (lol) me more time to devote to Pogo. As for a pogo site forum, I’m not sure I’d participate. I know I’d check it out in the beginning, but it seems to me it will slow the site down drastically. Lura, your forum is so well thought out & organized, I can’t imagine joining another. Once again, thanks for all your hard work. And everyone else, enjoy the fall.
Lura 09.25.09 at 9:23 am
Deb: you realize this isn’t a forum at all, right? This is technically a blog, as it’s been since its inception… I mean, if I wanted to moderate a forum (and all the crazy involved with one) I would have created one. Oops, guess I tipped my hat a little early. Well, there’s still more for me to say on this topic later. :)
Wolfe: just wait a few, I’m posting rapid-fire over here. Just a few more minutes and the announcement about that will be on the home page (just under this “stickied” weekend open thread one).
Sandy 09.25.09 at 9:25 am
I really don’t need a Pogo forum. I am very pleased with this one. Thank you , Lura.
It is beautiful here in Ohio with the leaves beginning to turn color and the weather is perfect. Hope that you all have a great weekend!
Monica 09.25.09 at 9:36 am
If pogo has a forum I won’t be using it I go to pogo to play games and talk with my family that lives out of state Have a good weekend every one
fier666 09.25.09 at 9:38 am
as this isnt a Forum I will be checking it out and part. when I can, I dont think it would detract from there site. It will be just another way to communicate with pogo and other pogoers
butterfliesRfree 09.25.09 at 9:48 am
It might be nice to have a place for people to discuss games and what they like and don’t like on Pogo. I do think Pogo needs to listen to their members more. Maybe they will find out that people want them to concentrate on the games and not waste time and resources on things like the guestbook.
I’m sure I will check it out in the beginning. It will be interesting to see how Pogo manages the forum. I don’t have much faith that it will be done properly. Lura – maybe they should hire you to manage it!
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Evelyn 09.25.09 at 9:48 am
I do not understand why Pogo wants to become a social networking site. I wish they would concentrate their resources on what they already do best – GAMES!
mmklima 09.25.09 at 9:49 am
I don’t see why POGO would need a chat forum. And I agree. By the way they “answered” themselves, it doesn’t seem like it’s in the near future.
You can “talk” to new or established friends in any of the games. True some of the chat is turned off due to the way games are played, but there are areas to chat.
Sue 09.25.09 at 9:49 am
Not sure if I’d participate in the forum or not. I too just like to play the games and chat with my “friends”, so I’d have to know more and see more before I’d commit. If it would slow down the computer, then NO WAY, I have enough problems already, lol. Need a new one, but now is not the right time!!! Anyway, love the site, use it daily and love you Lura for all your help. I switched from badgeaddicts months ago, this one is GREATTTTT!!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend. Here in PA, still nice, but guess fall has arrived and soon will be chilly. Hate it, but like others said, more time to spend on POGO, lol.
Tanya 09.25.09 at 9:52 am
I think that a chat forum is a great idea. I enjoy meeting and talking to new people. I’ve met a few people in online chat forums..one of which turned into a two year relationship. Another one has turned into a friendship of five years..we’ve never met face/face, but we’ve talked on the phone over the years, traded pics, shared good and not so good things going on in our relationships and lives, and we even play on Pogo together. Knowing me, once they’re “launched” I’d probably sit on the sidelines for a few to get a feel of it, before I decide if I’ll participate. I think that they will add to the Pogo community.
Have a great weekend everyone
pete 09.25.09 at 9:52 am
I think they are just asking for trouble by doing this. Im sure they get more complaints then they can handle as it is. Now, it will become a forum to complain to rather than chat to. I hope it works out for them, but i wouldnt count on it being there very long if im right, which i hope im not. lol
sandy z 09.25.09 at 9:53 am
Well I have been involved in several pogo fan forums. They can be a wonderful addition to pogo …. until/unless the management’s egos make it something less. So if a forum is run by pogo staff ….. could be a very good thing. If pogo “adopts” existing fan forum(s), that could be something completely different. I will have to reserve final judgement until more information is known, however I am quite interested in learning more about what pogo has in mind.
bobbynpogo 09.25.09 at 9:54 am
I will probably refrain from joining in on the forum @pogo. this site is very informative and is all i would need at this time. congrats on the badge tracker site.totally awesome work!
did anyone notice the requirements in the October mix n match for trivial pursuit?
4 wedges in one day! being caught up on both sites will cost each player 6000 tokens in episode bonuses.
take care lura and helpers for a great site and to those that send in great information and tips. God bless!
NuttySqrrl8 09.25.09 at 9:54 am
Not sure I would participate, I find a lotta jerks in these chat room, will there be a mute or report button to handle them.
CpDx 09.25.09 at 10:01 am
I see some positive and negative about forums…
Positive:
+ Official place to gather/mingle
+ Provide another place to voice opinions about games/topics of interest
+ Meet new people (especially those who don’t visit BadgeHungry)
Negatives:
– If not moderated well, could turn into a ‘flame’ / spam war
– A ‘hints and tips’ section could draw attention to the little tricks/loopholes that help us win games, and Pogo will fix ‘em ;)
Lura 09.25.09 at 10:01 am
Here are some definitions of the terms used here:
forum: An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site. It originated as the modern equivalent of a traditional bulletin board, and a technological evolution of the dialup bulletin board system. From a technological standpoint, forums or boards are web applications managing user-generated content.
chat: Online chat can refer to any kind of communication over the Internet, but is primarily meant to refer to direct one-on-one chat or text-based group chat (formally also known as synchronous conferencing), using tools such as instant messengers, Internet Relay Chat, talkers and possibly MUDs. The expression online chat comes from the word chat which means “informal conversation”.
blog: A blog (a contraction of the term “weblog”) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog….The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.
I’ve been writing/publishing on the internet for something ridiculous like 15 years and I have no idea what a “chat forum” is, but I assume the Editor meant forum, or message board.
donna r 09.25.09 at 10:02 am
i am not sure that i would participate much in a chat forum on pogo or even for that matter spend much, if ANY time reading what is said on it. I read the posts here and find this has enough infor for me and with days that are sometimes pretty limited on pogo time i would have to pick and chose this site would be the one i would go to to read info. I dont use the guestbook either as i go to pogo to play the games and enjoy the chatter in the rooms. All have a safe and happy weekend
sexyspongebobc 09.25.09 at 10:05 am
lura first i want to say I LOVE YOUR MINI, way too funny ty i needed a smile. i love pogo i have met great friends and even my hubby. i see no reason i would go to a forum. i can call my friends, play games and chat, and meet new peeps. i love coming here every friday. do not want to go else where for great tips, great people and great comments. well with that iam going to enjoy the weather here in upstate ny. lots of fall festivals and great food. have a great weekend all!!
tigger 09.25.09 at 10:10 am
wow pogo turning into a forum/chat thing more than what they r supposed to b, which is games…we can chat away in the game rooms i mean thats what they are for as well as playing the games..i dont believe its gonna do any good and they truly should be concentrating on what they are there for, which is games..if i want to chat or anything of sorts, there is this site ;) pogo needs to work on their games, not make it a forum
Angie 09.25.09 at 10:11 am
First off, I just want to say to Lura how very much you and your site is appreciated. You have it set up, so that all important information is available and easy to find. One of the other sites (not mentioning names)that I used to go to quite often is nothing but a pop-up haven for advertisements.
As for Pogo adding forums, I think they need to concentrate on their games and fixing them instead of trying to go off in directions where we don’t need to go. Like their “GuestBook” feature, I feel that was a joke.
I personally would not be interested in participating in any type of forum while I play my games. We already have enough ppl trying to monopolize the rooms with religion, politics and any other subjects that just cause fights and arguments. What ever happened to logging onto Pogo, playing games, mindless chat with friends or loved ones and having a good time.
Ok, enough…(climbing off soapbox LOL)
BTW, I respectfully decline entry in contest as I won more than my share of passes playing the Subway game.
Thanks again Lura for all you do…
sashca2002 09.25.09 at 10:11 am
it doesnt matter to me either way if theres a forum .i dont usually chat when im in playing games.if i do chat its to say thank you if a player gives me tokens.i agree its good to have a forum if you like to chat and meet people.well take care have a great weekend.its coming fall here cant wait till winter i love the snow.
simone 09.25.09 at 10:14 am
Pogo Forum, hmmmm… I don’t really see how it will work out. I’m a member of a number of Delphi Forums and they are wonderful, and informative, and I really like them. Though the little slip that you made Lura, about the moderation of said Forum is a major undertaking. I’ve seen even well moderated forums go completely crazy at times, and some have had to shut down entirely. I love Pogo, but let’s face it, they aren’t really known for prompt attention to problems, or answering questions in a timely way. They would have to employ mods, to work the forum and I just don’t think it will work, though “Big Fish” has a forum, and it seems ok, but I don’t think they have as many members as Pogo. Pogo should just stick to games, they do that very well, and let the forum idea die on the vine.
GoodGrief305 09.25.09 at 10:16 am
I woild not Join a forum on Pogo, theres way too many forums already i belong to Face Book alot of Forums there. Everyone Have A Great Weekend!!
Diana 09.25.09 at 10:19 am
I will check it out but I doubt that I will participate. I check this site every day before I start playing games on pogo and I think this is enough.
Laura you do such a great job. Keep it up. This is the best site and is very helpful
It’s the only one I need.
KayentaJane 09.25.09 at 10:23 am
Like many others, I think I’d check out a Pogo run forum at first. See how it’s set up and what the personality of it is. If there isn’t anything about the upcoming games, requirements to each rank and such line, I doubt I’ll spend much time at the Pogo run forum. That’s my main reason for visiting other forums and this blog. I like to see what’s new and upcoming, I like to know what it’ll take to get to the next rank, I like to see the pretty badges before they’re in my book, and mostly I love the sneak peeks at the new mini stuff. If a Pogo run forum isn’t going to offer me those thing, why bother?
kathy 09.25.09 at 10:30 am
I’m new to your blog, and I wanted to let you know that I really love it! I spent the better part of last night and this morning entering my game ranks and badges (yes, I’m an insomniac, and it was a boring tv night). As far as Pogo adding forums, I’m fairly ambivalent. I do go to some forums, but I use them for informational purposes only. They are a good resource to find out if other people are having similar problems, concerns, to look for assistance with new games, etc.
One forum I would love to see on Pogo would be a place to “complain about the weekly challenge/badge” instead of the chat. It’s my biggest pet peeve… they are called challenges for a reason, and we do have a week to complete them. I’m constantly “room hopping” on “whiner Wednesday.”
cpurnellt 09.25.09 at 10:31 am
I am assuming (and we all know what they say about that) Pogo is considering a “socialization” area like Facebook or MySpace. Personally, I have tried Facebook, and prefer playing games at POGO. I just can’t get into the “forwarding” things and commenting on everyones “this is what i’m doing this second” comment.
Of course, being a POGO addict I will explore any forum they offer. But, for just chatting about POGO in general I prefer this site! Thank you Lura for a great job off keeping us informed and allowing us to communicate with fellow addicts.

Hi all,
happy weekend. My opinion is that I dont need a forum to chitchat or to ask for some tipps in games.
I think its better to build up a kind of searching box ( kind of a news ticker), where people can search each other. Because we all knew the situation, you write with some folks in a room. You or they have to go, and boooommmmm….forgot to add in the friendslist.
There you can find them back.
Ok and now i have to go lol……greetings from Europe ( dont look at my typos hihi )
Ro 09.25.09 at 10:34 am
Hi Lura…While I might not really use a forum, I think there are many who would be interested in this type of communication; have heard many chats where people have expressed interest in this, but, I truly hope that if Pogo does this, they will work all the kinks out – not like some of the games lately – LOL….have a great weekend all.
laura 09.25.09 at 10:42 am
hi lura you are doing a great job here i agree withsimone, sashca, angie, tigger i wouldnt use it .i dont use guestbook .pogo should stick to there games,if and when i chat it will be on pogo games . have a good day.
Chrissy 09.25.09 at 10:47 am
I don’t want an entry into the contest :P I do however want to give my 2 cents on the whole forum thing. As someone who doesn’t really chat in the rooms as it is I think it would be a bad idea. I think it would take away from how the site is now and that they should spend time fixing the known glitches in games instead of adding more content to the site.
I know i will have people disagreeing with me but i feel that it would leave the site even more open to spammers than it is now. I guess I wouldn’t really care if they put forums up but I wouldn’t be participating in them either. I hope everyone has a good weekend!
Jewls 09.25.09 at 10:48 am
I may check the forum out when they first introduce it, but I doubt I’ll spend much time there. If it’s anything like so many other forums out there it will turn into a place for people to overreact to simple things and start insulting each other over their opinions.
That being said, Thank you so much Lura for this great site and a place where we all are able to state our opinions and calmly read others’. :)
Ben 09.25.09 at 10:49 am
I have tried all of the (3rd party) pogo forums that are currently available online, and I would have to say I am not please. They are all about drama, and I really doubt if Pogo made one it would be any different. I found this site a couple years ago and I have loved it since.
I didn’t even know what a blog site was, or that this site is one, until I just read your comments up above Lura. I thought it was a different type of forum. Now that I know, I can definitely say I like blogs better ;)
April 09.25.09 at 10:52 am
Forums in my opinion are a waste of time, I checked one out not long ago and no one was discussing what was suppose to be discussed in that forum or any forum for that matter. I quickly lost interest because people were discussing their personal woes, so it was more of a whine all you want, get sympathy kind of forum and of course there was the “guess who is dating whom” group.
I don’t care for any of that and I would prefer if Pogo stuck to the games only. Even with games only they have enough problems and issues to get fixed. And I can hear alot of people now arguing about glitches in games and then Pogo reads about them and then they fix the glitch.
Just another way for people in Pogo to be mean, rude and angry at their fellow players and let’s not forget the scammers who will be running in and out of every room selling tokens and gems and tokens and gems, oh my!
Which will leave the nice people in Pogo afraid to talk or offer an opinion or even ask a question just in case they get pounced upon.
There was a lady last weekend near the end who was asking about the purple dragon. I thought I’d let you know that he was the “Pet of the Month” for January 8, 2009. I’m sorry you missed out on purchasing Fenyon the Magnificent.
The leaves are changing and will soon be in full colour in the Algonquin Park area of Ontario, Canada. Time for Thanksgiving soon as well, so I’m preparing my menu now so I won’t feel rushed. ;)
debbi spence 09.25.09 at 10:52 am
i think we are asking for trouble with the kids and other people doing bad leave a good thing we have dont change
Ann-Marie 09.25.09 at 10:56 am
Lura, you rock!! Thanks for all your hard work on this and a certain other site.
As for the forums, I would NOT participate. A certain other site we all know and love, has forums and it seems like they are just a place to complain and criticize. I have been surprised by all the negative comments I read each day about the site and even other players. I just want to have fun playing games, and all the griping is really a drag.
mumson45 09.25.09 at 10:58 am
I think a forum is a bad idea, i will turn into just another site for others to rant at the players others dont like, and will eventually name and shame them, instead pogo should use the resourses to upgrade games, it has been a year since Spooky Slots was here, and have they added any new ranks or badges, NOT ONE, what have they been doing for a year. Surely theu could add something to the game, if you are rank 10, the only thing to do is reset your sats, and how many want to do that??
Tee 09.25.09 at 10:59 am
I personally have no interest in pogo forum, I enjoy your blog with great satisfaction. I also think pogo should focus on handling the chat first because it sometimes get out of control even the complaints being reported. But what I would like to have new emoticons showing more expressions, sometimes do not feel like typing especially late at night and can’t see the keyboard, lol
sassy 09.25.09 at 11:01 am
I think i’m waffling on the chat forum…on the one hand, it could be a good thing to meet new people and such, but…on the other, would it turn into a pogo bashing for all kinds of peeves people have or complaints or fisticuffs and if that happens, would there be staff to settle things down or is everyone on their own? I’d like to say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it..but, if that were the case, i’d still be playing poppitt in a non-chat room…LOL.
I’m so glad I can still ask for help or tips…I have one for squelchies. I’m trying to get the 75 blowfish badge and have about 20 and i’ve noticed they only come around about every 3rd round..is this all I can expect?
It’s chilly and drizzly here in the St. Louis area, but supposed to be nice weekend..I think Fall is here!
Thank you Lura for a wonderful site and i’m anxiously awaiting all the tips from all the games submitted couple of weeks ago…what a Herculeanian feat that is!
Anybody else feel that Trivial Pursuit is a daily drudge? Oh, if I had known how I would look forward to it like a trip to the dentist, I never would have started it.but, bless those little tokens…lol.
Good Weekend all…
marvdgls 09.25.09 at 11:07 am
i like the idea of a for forum, i think you can get a lot of info from them, good or bad, then weigh the good against the bad and reach your own conclusion!!
Carol 09.25.09 at 11:07 am
Hi,
I apologise if this post doesn’t fit, but I need some advice.
My friend was introduced to the game Chocolatier and wants to buy all three games. However, she has struggled to finish games, gets frustrated and never played them again. She says this won’t happen with these games because she’s tried the demos and loves them. I’ve tried the free online version of the first Chocolatier, but it doesn’t seem to end. You keep buying supplies, make chocolates, and sell chocolates. My question is can you finish the game? Does the game actually end? I would hate for my friend to regret buying these games when she could have used the money for something else.
I’m not interested in a Pogo forum and think their time would be better spent making the games run smoother i.e. correct token payout, correct rank progress, no crashing, etc.
No entry for me.
Just want to give a big thank you to Lura and her helpers.
Sharon 09.25.09 at 11:09 am
Happy Friday all! I have to say that I am definitely not interested in a Pogo Chat Forum, I can just envision it turning into a drama fest as it is in a lot of the game rooms recently, and I can well imagine that there would be a lot of sniping and nastiness going on as there is in chat. I very much doubt that I would even check it out. I go to Pogo for the games and the minis of course!
This blog is the place for me for game tips and information, and I really appreciate all that you do for us Lura.
Have a great weekend, everyone, and play and stay safe.
fier666 09.25.09 at 11:09 am
Sassy I would agree, I do like the forum idea alot, but saddly its going to do nothing but attract everyone that has some kind of gripe with pogo I for one am tired of all the complaints and a forum would prolly attract me to respond negativly that would be my only draw back of pogo adding a forum
marvdgls 09.25.09 at 11:09 am
i like the idea of a forum in pogo i think it will add too! i would partispate in them!
kiki 09.25.09 at 11:10 am
my feeling is that this pogo forum will be quite a ways in the future, and as someone who has her hands full of forum, i’m not sure what to expect. beyond the ensuing drama that is always a part of forums, you will always have trolls: those who live to create havoc. and the flamers: those who live just to hurt feelings. policing that will be a 25/8 job and i don’t envy them one little bit.
in the end, i don’t care if they create one–it might be nice for some. like the guestbook, i doubt i will use it much. many of us enjoy the fansite forums and blogs like lura’s for the same reason: we want to know what’s coming NEXT. i doubt that pogo will be willing to post that info!
but just because they add these things doesn’t mean the rest of their site suffers. it’s not like they have limited staff, and that directing some to work on forums and minis means they have less to develop and maintain games. although these additions aren’t something i use too much, i give them credit for trying to make the most of their site–and their business–as they can.
and i respectfully decline any prize, but certainly appreciate the generous thought.
Monica 09.25.09 at 11:11 am
I did that badge for squelchies and what I did was I played on medium and then just kept hitting new game til I saw the blowfish then I would play that round
Julie 09.25.09 at 11:12 am
A chat forum would be a waste of time when they could be concentrating on putting more game awards and such .I also think it would just welcome more spammers .They can’t control them in the games ,just think of the spammers comming in the forum …..Thats just my 2 cents :) Have a beautiful weekend my fellow badge chasers .
Sarah 09.25.09 at 11:12 am
I probably would not use the forum if Pogo added it to their site. I would check it out at the beginning, but it doubtful that I would participate. The only thing I would find useful would be if there were a section for game help and you could search for posts of others that had a similar problem, but even then I find most of my game help here. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Sue 09.25.09 at 11:15 am
It would definitely be interesting to see Pogo with forums, I’m sure there would be a whole lot of different topics and conversations you would never think of going on there! I probably would participate every now and then, not very big on forums myself though.
Weather wise.. sheesh, 15-20 mph winds and 58 degrees here in upstate NY and it’s 11:15am! Nice and sunny though, fall is definitely among us here! Only getting down to 36 tonight, brrrrr!
amie 09.25.09 at 11:22 am
i dont think i would use their forum…but to complain to them….lol and tell them to take the time they are putting in to the forum and fix some of the issues with the games…that is why we go to pogo is the games…
Trish 09.25.09 at 11:24 am
Awwww u have hit rock bottom with the mini. You can have the shirt off my back….and the rest of my mini closet too….oh Hostess with the Mostest!!! lol
Re: Pogo Forum. The answer is a resounding YES…but ONLY if YOU moderate …lol j/k. They should have directed the writer of that comment HERE…..no kidding….Give him/her an opportunity to meet THE BLOGGER OF ALL TIME!!!
Seriously though, there are enough SPECIFICALLY THEMED game rooms on pogo for people of like mind to congregate and discuss everything from the mundane, like the weather, to more serious life and death issues….from the sublime to the ridiculous….so to speak. What Pogo needs to concentrate on is ways to control the riffraff, the bigots, the rabble rousers who truly detract from the majority’s gaming experience. I say instead of a forum, create more UNCENSORED ROOMS so those with limited vocabularies can vent to their heart’s content and write in 4 letter chatspeak all they want!!!!
I agree with the majority of commenters here….Pogo should do what it does best……..GREAT GAMES and nothing but. Leave the rest to that OTHER BLOG….which again shall remain nameless!!! lol
Have a GR8 weekend hon!!!
Kevin 09.25.09 at 11:26 am
Pogo chat forums? So I can learn how to get 350 free gems from some spammer? So I can learn… what, exactly?
Pogo is a game site to me. It’s not my social networking site. If Pogo has the resources to establish and moderate a forum, could they please use them to address some of the problems they have, instead?
Perhaps a game could be launched just once that I don’t have to wait a month to play before it’s stable.
Have a good weekend, everyone. And thanks again. Lura, for all you do for us.
Kevin S. 09.25.09 at 11:53 am
I disagree on adding forums on their website, I just don’t like the idea. I came to Pogo for gaming and to talk with a few friends while playing, and that’s it. Every now and then change my Mini. I personally think that they should add a IMing feature, so people like myself and others can IM me while they play their favorite game. That way, they don’t have to play a game they don’t like talking to me that way.

I myself think that pogo does not need a chat forum I go to pogo to play GAMES and relax. I have been playing pogo for 10 years and yes i think it will slow down the site. Have a wonderful day all ,and Thank you Lura for this site
Pam 09.25.09 at 12:02 pm
hi everyone & happy weekend.
Pogo Forum? (shuddering in my house slippers) Perhaps with ‘good intentions’ it might try to start as a little information hi-way of sorts to be shared, but as history dictates, it will become high jacked as a lonely hearts club location being trolled by narcissistic bullies.
Because Pogo is frequented by children periodically as provided by Teen Rooms, are they really ready for the ramifications of those minors who represent themselves to be ‘older’ than they truly are?
Pogo can better use the resources in other areas of their existing site & concentrate running their business in a more structured environment… or is it just me?
When asked about an expected time line the Editor’s pat answer is the ‘glib soon’. That is, if the Editor is even working that week(apparently no-one is capable of responding to the few chosen weekly letters should he be away)… I don’t even read the Ms Netiquette column anymore, I already know what it says… “let me refresh my tea before I tell you to mute, mute, mute.” yawning, how repetitive can you get.
Pogo, you’re a business… When you tell people about a product, they expect more than a ‘soon.’ When you’re publishing weekly columns… how about publishing them as expected & dare I venture to say, if you’re going to insist on “sale pricing” items before they’re retired why not just average the price down a peg or two from the on-set instead of sticking it to the die-hard supporters?
I’m not looking for anyone to agree as it’s just my own opinion.
Sorry Lura, tried duct taping my fingers still, but I worked the tape lose LOL.
tami 09.25.09 at 12:03 pm
Im not much of a “chatter” myself, but there are alot of people that are, forums are different, i know because i play “WoW” and we use forums alot. I think it will be neat if people want to find leagues, or need help on badges. It’s up to the person i guess if they enjoy them or not :) Have a great weekend and your wonderfull Lura, oh and yeah dont forget there will be “Trolls” just to post or be seen .. they are always around forums :)
donna r 09.25.09 at 12:05 pm
i think my biggest problem with a forum is that if it is not well tended to by pogo it might turn into bmg and really get into flaming other people who might state their belief on a subject. I think that might take a lot of pogo time. I feel that pogo has enough on their plates right at this time and need to figure out ways to handle the problems that are already on the site. I love playing the different games and am a big chatter in pogo ) lol I dont know if pogo has the personel that would be available to handle the chat area.
Linda 09.25.09 at 12:09 pm
I will probably not use the Pogo forums; I think there are many other sites for that purpose. I use Pogo to enjoy the games and relax. I found this site just a few months ago and it is the best place for information and help. It is my first stop each day. Many thanks to all the great people here and to Lura for all the time she puts in on the site.
I am in Arizona and am looking forward to the fall and winter; summers are just too long here. It is cooling off in the evenings and early mornings now. I can actually sit outside and have my morning coffee now.
Enjoy your weekend everyone and have fun.
Marithoner 09.25.09 at 12:12 pm
Hi y’all from Dallas, TX where it’s absolutely gorgeous and cool (yay!) here today. I don’t care for forums because of all the drama and this mama is no drama mama. May I just say that I am so thrilled that I finally got that bingo wilds badge because I had to suffer through so much drama and meaness and such. I had no idea people could be so vicious and small-minded and worse, small-hearted. Okay, I’ll shut up now and everyone have a wonderful weekend! Mari
carol 09.25.09 at 12:23 pm
I would never use a pogo chat forum even if moderated since i have found pogo moderators in the past to be biased. It’s like all things it’s who you know when it comes to a disagreement in the pogo chat rooms.Let’s face facts they already have behind the scenes moderators in the chats and they fail miserably now how much worse will it be if they have to do more work
Lou 09.25.09 at 12:23 pm
I do not think a forum at pogo is a good idea. There are a lot of forums now and they only create problems. This is a nice site to visit and I appreciate all the information I get right here.
cnaten 09.25.09 at 12:27 pm
I feel pogo should stick with what they know games. I don’t think they would like the hints that people share and they would propably fix them.
Pogo has letters to the editor and Ms. Nett. that’s enough reading for me and lets not forget about chat that is already there.
I don’t see pogo doing a chat forum any better then badgehungry. I love this site and all the hard work you put into it. It’s so well organized and easy to use. I love what you do for all of us.
I do not need the passes so pass them on. Thanks again for all your GREAT work that you do.
Dan 09.25.09 at 12:28 pm
Firstly, to bobbynpogo, reply #15 in regards to next months Mix and Match in Trivial Pursuit. A day doesn’t mean the same day you activate it, it means 24 hours since you activate the badge, so what I would do is activate the badge sometime in the evening, before the UK site adds the next day, and then come the morning, you can complete the next two and you won’t miss out on the daily tokens for the episode bonus.
As for a forum, I can’t see why Pogo would want one, it will be just another place for the spammers to spam, and the whiners to whine and complain. Yes, I will check it out, but I doubt I will participate in it.
vibirdlady 09.25.09 at 12:31 pm
As someone in my middle 70′s I try to keep up with what is going on around me. Ideas/Tech.info seems to be happening at a pace that is, at least for me, a little frightening. I love Pogo for the games and this site for the help that Lura and her helpers have given us. I alway check here before I go to Pogo each day and have found such great support and help from all here. Thanks Lura letting me know the difference between a forum/blog. IMUO, I’m afraid that if Pogo tried to start a forum it might just turn into Twitter on steroids.
Have a great weekend all!
fier666 09.25.09 at 12:31 pm
haha Lura you really created a monster with this subject
pegasuszoe 09.25.09 at 12:35 pm
I feel just like with the guest book that it would be a mistake. If I was them I would devote the energy into fixing the games not into some stupid forum that hardly anyone would use. Pogo is a game site only to me and if I want info or have info to pass on I come here and only here.
I live in North Dakota, was a crappy summer here this year, but a beautiful fall so far. Not looking forward to winter coming right around the corner though lol
Have a great weekend everyone!
Thanks Lura for all the new additions to the site, every time I think you can’t get it any better than it is you happily prove me wrong.
UndrCvrAngl13 09.25.09 at 12:43 pm
Pogo and Forum?..nah,can see it working myself. Too much drama, fussing and cussing in chat as it is,oh,and let’s not forget the spammers we all know and adore..LOL,jus teasing ya. I love Pogo for the games, but sadly, have to play most with chat closed because it distracts me sometimes.Instead,I wish they would spend more time making up new games(not borrowed ones from my childhood) and fix some of the ones they now have. But,who knows?..if they offer a badge to participate,I just might pop in
violetbluez 09.25.09 at 12:45 pm
I think the pogo forums is a great idea. It is one thing that has been missing from pogo. their help page is really hard to find a solution with. A forum is just what is needed.
Please enter me in the drawing,

There are several point about a Pogo forum to be considered.
First, we have the if and when factors. I think that we are all familiar with standard time zones, and then there is the Pogo time zone, ie who knows when this forum is going to happen or if it is going to happen.
Next, we have the infamous Pogo glitch factor. Rarely, does any game get released that does not have glitches to be ironed out. Sometimes the glitches never do get ironed out or promised badges disappear.
I have also read blogs where people have gotten into trouble with Pogo and they have been told that Pogo has informed them of a long list of violations. Now, I don’t know if this is true but, it is possible. Pogo does keep track of our stats and badges, rooms we play in etc. If this forum comes to be it could make a bad session in Everyone Whines Bingo look like a day in the park. Plus, could there be ramifications if people post less then complimentary things about their Pogo experience from the powers that be at Pogo?
From what I have been able to see, the guestbook is not something that alot of people find useful and while I might check the forum out, I’m not sure that I would want to contribute to it.
While I know Pogo/EA needs to grow and bring more people and money to the site, I think that the best route would be to stick to the reason we came to Pogo in the first place. Keep the games running well, let the tokens roll, give us our badges, and maybe shaking loose some extra personal challenges would make a lot of us happy.
Have a good weekend all and let’s keep Pogo for games!
fier666 09.25.09 at 12:48 pm
hmm maybe I dont understand let me get this right some of you dont want the Forums because they will fix the loopholes that causes people to cheat? I can understand about the whining the the spammers and even the kids abusing it. But to say you dont want Pogo to fix a glitch that will give people access to cheat sounds absurd.
Sorry Lura, I like this site but I dont come here to find a way to cheat, I ment no disrespect to all that you do Lura
Robin 09.25.09 at 12:48 pm
Personally, I think Pogo employees are losing their collective mind. Someone, somewhere has hired that corporate suit-type with the “we should” mentality that sends lemmings jumping over cliffs once one does so. In case I am not clear, Pogo, stick to games and let the fan sites have the forums…and Lura handle everything else just like she so very competently does!
Have a great weekend all…89 degrees and sunny in South Carolina!
fier666 09.25.09 at 12:52 pm
and in response Undr they have a partnership with Hasbro seeing as the parent company EA is one of the biggest game makers for computers and consoles that is why you see games you know
Lura 09.25.09 at 12:52 pm
fier666: everyone comes here for different reasons. :) You’re just as entitled to voice your opinion as anyone else, no disrespect taken at all.
Debra 09.25.09 at 12:55 pm
I would not use the forum if it was offered. I don’t mind chatting in the rooms or even private to friends when the situation arises. It would be just another place for people to complain about the other members, ie. when you are working on a badge, but hate the game, and sometimes in chat others are of the same mind set, but those that love that “hated” game take offence. There is No need for criticism, if we all loved the same type of games, they would only need to have one game for all. We are all different, I love word and card games but hate slots, and a few others but I love my badges more. Just bear with the “badge hungry” players and ignore us, we mean no disrespect.
evanka11 09.25.09 at 12:56 pm
I’ve found that “official” & company-run forums and blogs and messageboards are always run with way too heavy a hand — conversations and posts that are critical of or damaging to the company get removed and/or closed, and moderators aren’t there to ease the use of the site, or to make it run smoothly, or even as conduits passing along useful information to employees in other departments — they’re there to act as censors and to prevent free expression.
Also, because Pogo already has chat in every single game, as well as “mail” and “guestbooks”, etc, you have to question whether they are creating this for our benefit — or their own. Keeping people at Pogo longer — instead of here or the other outside sites — is worth money to them in many ways.
I’ll take “outside” forums, blogs, and sites over official ones every time.
Mel 09.25.09 at 12:57 pm
I don’t think that Pogo needs a forum, they are great with their games as it is, don’t need to try to compete like that. Almost seems like they want to compete then with some of their fan sites that do have forums. Also, I think that if in deed pogo does do it, it will be very censored, as in people looking for specific help in something and pogo not letting some of the answers through (like how to beat Chess). I can just imagine what it would like too, complaint after complaint, mixed in with spam.
sukie631 09.25.09 at 1:06 pm
Happy Friday All
I don’t think Pogo needs a forum, it will just detract from the games. I thought we went onto Pogo to play games, not to have full blown discussions. I like Pogo just the way it is. They really don’t need this forum. Pogo is a major distraction as it is, lol. I mean Facebook takes up enough of my time away from Pogo, I don’t need to go to forum to waste even more. I don’t see myself using it & from what I gather from people’s comments on here I don’t see that many people using it. I agree with Pam (#57).
Lura you do a great job with this site. I always use the trivial pursuit answers, it saves me time of having to redo the game if I don’t know all the answers.
Fall, what fall? I am in beautiful Southern Utah & it’s going to be 100 on Sunday here.
Well, hope everyone has a great weekend where ever you are!!!
Jane 09.25.09 at 1:13 pm
Lura -
I don’t have any time to check out the Forum… much too busy
trying to finish off some of these games with their badges.
For some though, it is probably a great idea.
Thanks for all you do.
Jane
EdC 09.25.09 at 1:16 pm
Thanks Lura for noticing that editor comment. I was shocked as well.
I recall not long ago Pogo was asking players to submit their favorite fan site(for promotion?) that didn’t condone cheating of any kind. A popular site even removed certain threads and posts so they might be considered. What happened with that? Maybe they couldn’t find one to endorse so they decided to go at it alone.
But who would moderate it? Aren’t they understaffed?
If you have ever been in a room where there is amazing mini judging going on you’ll notice all the ass-kissing going on. If their forum is going to be a giant gush advertisement for their site they can keep it.
Besides they do twitter and the facebook thing what else do they need?
ZippoRonson 09.25.09 at 1:21 pm
Pogo forum….would I join in? Probably not, except to maybe read something that might pique my interest. Should they do it? No, they should stick to games, work more on finding something fun and interesting (does anyone play Beaker Creatures or Boardwalk Sea Ball?) and actually fixing the bugs in the ones they do release. Better yet, fix the bugs before they release them….a novel idea I know, but I can dream.
6160 09.25.09 at 1:26 pm
So instead of upgrading and fixing the games that need fixing, EA’s Pogo division will be making a message board instead?
IT’S A TRAP! EA’s Pogo division knows it can’t ban all the spammers, racists, cyberers, griefers, cheaters, hackers, flamers, trolls, kids, attention whores, and general malcontents through chat informants alone. Once this is implemented, anyone who steps out of line with EA’s policies will be IP banned or even worse, sent to Nanny Netiquette’s personal dungeon for punishment, discipline, and reeducation into a good little Pogo pod person!
Pretty sneaky of them if they are going to build it. I guess anything’s better than making updates to their games to them.
KayentaJane 09.25.09 at 1:28 pm
What would be nice is if I could chat with my friends in different games. My friends and family like very different games, it would be so nice if I could play the game I like and they could play the game they like and we could still chat amongst ourselves. … … … But then again, that’s what IM is for, eh.
Andrew 09.25.09 at 1:37 pm
Hey all! Great discussion going here…but Im actually looking for help with a game lol. I have never played Word Riot and have recently downloaded the trial version, but dont have a clue as to how to give clues. I know that sounds funny but Im looking to see if anyone here can help me with clue formation. Thanks in advance. Great job with the site as always Lura!
Penny 09.25.09 at 1:40 pm
I also do not think a forum is a very good idea.I would not participate in it, as all you have to do is look at the chat in the game rooms and it would just be more of the same whinners, and drama queens.I dont think a lot of Pogo players would stay there long. And the ones that do would just be the same trouble makers they have now.You all know who they are…the ones that will report you for abuse if you sneeze wrong.Send some of that cooler weather this way, ready for fall been a long hot summer.
Thank you Lura for letting us vent on Pogo and thier sometimes not to bright ideas.
Penny
AFrocks2001 09.25.09 at 1:54 pm
I am not sure what I think Pogo Forums would be like. Guess it will be more of a try it and see sort of thing for me. I probably would read the forums just to see if there was any more pogo knowledge I can find. Not that I really think I can find more knowledge about Pogo than right here on Badge Hungry. I tend to check out the new things that Pogo brings along, but I usually get back into my game mode and dont waste time on the extras. Forum would take time away from making rank lol
Have a great weekend yall!
tcfox 09.25.09 at 1:58 pm
Frankly, I have as much use for a forum on Pogo as I do a guestbook – NONE….LOL. I wish they would spend their energy/resources getting back to what they do best – making good quality games, fixing broken games, adding ranks to tried true games, etc., not social networking. I see all this nonsense bogging down a system that is already way overloaded with unneeded *stuff*.
Besides, Im sure adding this will break something that works now (like the guestbook did), but will never work again *sigh*
Lura – dont include me in the contest – I won plenty of free months from Subway on my own :D
*btw – I appreciate your offer over at BFG – I havent forgotten, just been busy – youll be hearing from me*
Steph 09.25.09 at 2:04 pm
Im not to sure if Pogo adding a forum is such a great idea…. yes it kinda would be nice if people would use it for help on games and such, BUT everyone sees that stuff that does go on in chat and such i often wonder would it be used for the wrong reasons….. Alot of ppl help and offer hints and tips thru chat thru the games so why fix something that isnt broke sorta speak…Personally myself I am not too sure if I would even bother with using or even looking at the forum at all…….. But then again Pogo will do what they want and because we all enjoy the site so much we all have to deal with it……..
Patricia Smith 09.25.09 at 2:09 pm
Hi ,
I dont thinkl I would use the forum, I like chating with friends and people in most chat rooms tho. I enjoy this site and all the information on it ,keep up all your hard work. Thank You
Jonathan 09.25.09 at 2:16 pm
Having gone to a few video game forums (mostly for console games) I have noticed a trend… someone asks a question that is relevant to a game and then someone comes in and has a comment of something to the effect of “your stupid” then someone posts something irrelevant that doesn’t answer the question. Doubt pogo has the time to moderate this anyways and if they are going to hire someone I would rather they hire someone to add more ranks to games or solve some glitches that people complain about in the games they already have.
slycat001 09.25.09 at 2:19 pm
As for the forum on pogo, i don’t know how that will work out. I for one wouldn’t use it, i love to chat with people not just sit and write what seems like a book for the most part. So am thinking that the forum thing may not work if everyone is like me and would prefer not to use it.
slycat001 09.25.09 at 2:25 pm
I would have to agree with you tcfox, this forum thing is just more gibberish for pogo just like the guestbook thing you mentioned. and that boardwalk seaball game that is just a little bit out of the park. i also think their time could be better well spent on fixig some of the game problems and such that goes wrong from time to time.
jaredph 09.25.09 at 2:34 pm
Hi everyone!
When i first saw it, I thought that forums would be a good idea for pogo. However, when I started reading through these comments, you all made some very good points. Forums would be good for a few tips on games, but really that’s it. Pogo should fix issues like spamming, creating new games and updating old games before they should consider adding forums. (And even if they had forums, I doubt they would add the daily TP and CC answers, how to beat chess, etc.)
Nice idea on post #84. I wish it would happen, but it’s probably very unlikely because they would have to fix so many games. (It would be especially hard in a game like boggle bash, when u can only chat between rounds.)
Amanda 09.25.09 at 2:52 pm
Hi Lure and Everyone!
Hope e1 has a great weekend and good luck on your entry into the pass contest!
As for the question of Pogo Forums, I would say it is another layer that Pogo is looking to include to their site that will require time and effort to keep running smoothly, and I therefore wonder if it will not take away from areas such as the quality of gaming they provide us with, but also customer support (which we know could use some improvement, wink wink) to research and development to try and stay fresh in the highly competitive online gaming community. (I suggest creating new in-game badge challenges for the games they have, or keep turning out new games to keep people challenged and entertained). And that’s all I got to say about that! Lol.
Thanks Pogo!
Chelle 09.25.09 at 2:52 pm
I like the forum idea. I was a member of a gaming forum throughout my teen years and I met some people I now consider great friends. Aside from the people, it was always fun to browse through the topics. Because of my awesome experience with that forum, I’ve tried joining fan-created Pogo forums, but I always end up disliking them. They are generally run by older (when I say older, I don’t mean old) women and covered in animated pictures of angels or kittens. Not that that’s a bad thing…it’s just not for me. I think a forum run by Pogo will be more well-known, so all kinds of people will be posting, giving everyone a chance to make friends and socialize.
I will definitely participate at first. I’m interested what sort of layout Pogo has chosen. There are certain public forum layouts I absolutely cannot stand, so that might have a hand in whether or not I post regularly. I really hope they have different categories and sub forums (set places for you to post about certain things, like a section to talk about badges, a section to talk about games, another to talk about things unrelated to Pogo, and so on).
McSam476 09.25.09 at 3:14 pm
I really believe that a forum will add much ,more to Pogo, it will be a place where pogo-nuts lie me can go and leaves important messages concerning certain games and also go and read what others are saying about games. Very good Idea Pogo
Therese 09.25.09 at 3:16 pm
I think I would definately participate in the forum. I like the fact that someone can ask a question for help, opinions etc.. and would be able to get many different anwsers from the huge pogo community.
Norma 09.25.09 at 3:26 pm
Pogo is not a social networking site. It is a awesome game site that you can relax play a game and talk to friends. If pogo wants to make changes to the site they should update some of the games. There are some great games on pogo that should have ranks and badges add. Other games should have more ranks and badges add to them. They should work more on new games and when they release a game make sure that it is works right to start with. Before adding any more new items lika a formus that should fix there problems. I think if they add formus that it would slow the site down alot for people on dial-up. Pogo does not need to make it self into a social networking site.
Sionna Koehnae 09.25.09 at 3:26 pm
I actually like the idea of a forum. Forums have been the way I have connected with most of my online friends and many of those friendships have carried over to gaming sites (like Pogo and BigFish/Sea). I do not always feel in the mood to chat in real time, but forums offer a chance to think out your responses and meet up with people who may not be able to make it online at the exact time as you. As Chelle said, it will depend a lot on the layout of the forums… some are just impossible to follow a conversation on or are visually unpleasant.
widow 09.25.09 at 3:29 pm
first, happy weekend all!
april, i’m the lady who mentioned Fenyon…thanks for the info. which brings me to my alternative suggestions for pogo (other than the ever-present #1 advice about fixing their games before and after release). i’d like them to extend the mall so that all items, past and present, are available. they should think of the extra money spent on gems! new ppl come in and see things that can’t be purchased. i see goodies, etc. that are appropriate for this time of year and even with their current “all your favorites are back” promo, i’ve scoured the pages to no avail. no football, no bushel of apples–but all those same ratty ole summer tops are there. this from me, a woman who’s previous incarnation in ’05 of an s/n would not “play w/ paper dolls”! which brings me to: i shop the mall and buy many things @ a time, so i’d like to have more than 3 pages of snapshots before i have to delete some. i get the idea for a “put-together”, complete w/ caption, but i may forget before i use up the snaps i have.
and oh, yes — a “blank book” of weekly badges available for purchase, so that those of us so very eager to have more personals done could do so.
ohh, if pogo would only follow we followers of Lura’s site, how content we would be, lol ;)
widow 09.25.09 at 3:31 pm
lol…just realized i didn’t comment on the pogo forum. guess that tells you my opinion of it, doesn’t it?
Daniel 09.25.09 at 3:31 pm
Hello everyone!
The Pogo forum idea does sound pretty cool, especially to view a vast variety of topics by other Pogo members. But I’ll be limiting my time on it when it comes around, ’cause I don’t really have too high hopes of it. But if it does work out well, then Pogo better get their act together. They’ve made enough mistakes recently.
~DJ91994
tigger 09.25.09 at 3:32 pm
my question is why would u want to bog down pogo and make it a social network rather than what it is, a gaming site?we can already come here and get the info we need, come on pogo get with it!
janet 09.25.09 at 3:34 pm
Pogo is a game site, I come to play games. If I want I can chat, if I dont like ads I can pay to be a clubmember (badges – an added bonus lol). Pogo should spend time developing games and fixing current issues with games. Why do they want to be “a jack of all trades” when they should strive to be a “MASTER OF GAMES” I just love this site Lara TY so much for the time and energy you put into it
Dazzler 09.25.09 at 3:34 pm
It all sounds ok IF all this extra work for them doesn’t mean having to pay more for membership.
sweetlove 09.25.09 at 3:42 pm
hello all
as for pogo making a forum i don’t know abut that.they have soo much work in making games, fixing games, handling cumstomer complaints/wants etc. where would they find the time?I thik they should just leave it.there are plenty of pogo fan forums out there already.
but unless it is managed well, informative, easier to contact pogo, and maybe some contest like play a game that requires this or that and win things from pogo.(gems, downloads, month passes etc)
I also am with the majority I come to pogo to play games.there is chat in the games.
and I also respectfully decline entry as I have won a couple years of pogo.
Greg 09.25.09 at 3:51 pm
I think Pogo is onto something. Maybe Pogo wants to be the official leader and they want to be the ones posting new game badges and new future games on Pogo or downloadables. Pogo might consider posting free token links from their own chat forum, whether its moderated or not. Their idea might be to draw more attention and information to Pogo and Club Pogo and draw people away from fan sites. Or another fact and opinion is they want to test a chat forum and see if they can be a partial social network site. By chat forum, i either mean a regular forum or Pogo having their own “blog”. Everyones comments are just “hear says” and “speculation”, i wouldn’t get excited or worry about their updates. I hope it’s for a good and better reason, we will see and find out when that time comes. Thank you Lura for the open weekend thread. I only get involved if something interests me. Even if I dont participate every week or weekend, I do read and browse all areas of your great site. Sometimes I use your answers for Crossword Cove or Daily Word Search. Very handy and helpful links, thank you!
Monica 09.25.09 at 3:51 pm
I think pogo should take a poll and see if us members want a pogo forum or not but you kanow they won’t and will do what they want to do any way
karen 09.25.09 at 3:52 pm
I agree with Dazzler..if it’s going to add more $$ to my membership NO Way.. i think i might check it out but in reality probably won’t visit it often.Rather just play the games and once in awhile chat with people.
debbie 09.25.09 at 3:59 pm
if pogo does a forum that is like the one at big fish then i think it is not going to be useful as lura already gives us the tips and answers to our pogo questions i wnjoy coming here to get all the info i need for pogo its beats the others hands down
Jakers 09.25.09 at 4:08 pm
Thank you again Lura for all you do here.I also respectfully decline as I am already a club pogo subscriber :)
I would read pogo forums but probably not use it — I hardly ever post to any forum but I like to read them :)
I agree that pogo should pay attention to what the players and payers have to say,so maybe (if the forums didnt get ugly) this would be a great opportunity.
Before I forget Lura – when and where is a good time to find you playing at BSG?Whenever I play there I look for you so I can add you to my friends but I never see you :(
IAIN 09.25.09 at 4:08 pm
I think it would be a good idea for someone to post the Pogo Mini Golf holes that you can get a double-eagle
Gecko 09.25.09 at 4:15 pm
All I could think of when I heard that was – Gee where is the post the names of people who dont pass enough in EWB forum? I mean, thats the one of two ways this could go that I see: 1.) Pogo goes even further towards those hated book and space style sites or 2.) The forums become a permanent place to complain and badmouth people.
As far as the forum idea goes, count my vote as a permanent MUTE as Netty would say!
Ro 09.25.09 at 4:18 pm
Just read all of the above (LOL) am wondering if Pogo plans on including a personal ads link on the forum page – what a thought (shudders)..ok, its Friday my brain is dead…have a great weekend all!
ewconsidering membership 09.25.09 at 4:24 pm
just read the letters to the editor and came away re-thinking my membership..first of all the forum idea is a major turn off for me..I come to play pogo for the games..to escape for a few hours and un-wind from the day not to come to social networking site..so many of them out there already..If thats what I wanted I could do that for free..
secondly the comment from the Editor concerning the so called cheater in the poppit badge really burns me up! I thought it was rude and offensive..pretty much started off saying that most people are ignorant very sarcastic to say, (most people dont read TOS or anywhere else for that matter) exploits a glitch in their game!! give me a break! who do they think they are?? its a fantasy badge and fantasy tokens not reality!! ($$$THAT WE PAY FOR$$$) the whole thing really burned me up! I think the editor owes that person an apology for slamming them judging them and cutting them off at the knees talking to them like they were stupid!! they dont want someone using a glitch in the game then fix the freaking game! I mean who really gives a crap? If I was that person and they talked to me that way I would tell them where they could put the charactor assessment id take my money elsewhere!
dont need the entry for free pass…probably will not re-new membership anyways,

I like the idea of chat forums. It will certainly give an outlet to those who want to complain or offer help!
Thanks for a great site!
Indy 09.25.09 at 4:32 pm
In my humble opinion, and it is just that, I cant imagine Pogo will end up with anything simulating a true forum that works, being moderated, etc. I also dont see it as a place to share tips or shortcuts on game play – being that Pogo considers a lot of those tips cheating. (see the Pogo letter to the editor section today). We have to remember Pogo is the tadpole in the ocean of EA and Im sure Pogo is not the money maker EA would like it to be. Upgrades, personnel, new services and features eventually cost money. I have no idea what form this would take but I personally dont foresee me using a Pogo forum. I am very content to log in to Pogo, pick a game, a room and play – with a wtg, gg, gl or hagd as appropriate, chatting with a few people, etc. and go about my game. This site, thanks to Lura and her helpers, has become my go-to site for information. A great weekend to all.
Jan 09.25.09 at 4:40 pm
Really not sure about the chat forum that pogo is thinking of adding, if they do will check it out..but Lura your site here is the one I check out everyday. To me Pogo is the game site and if I what to know anything I just come here if its to ask a question or look up on the many other subjects that you have made so easy for us to access. and the people here are just terrific and so help full. Have a great weekend all.
ELL 09.25.09 at 4:44 pm
Hi all Happy Weekend. I dont think I would use a Pogo Forum. I seem to not have enough time for the things I want to do on Pogo as it is and if it would bring up the cost of Pogo no way for sure. However this site I always have time to go to and I just love it. Ty for all the great work you put into it and Badge tracker is great.
MomsBassetHound 09.25.09 at 4:49 pm
My understanding of a forum is that messages are not moderated until after they have been posted. After they have been posted they can be removed by a moderator if deemed inappropriate. If this is the case then all hell is going to break out. You will have people making up new s/ns and just posting things to inflame the masses. And you know that some will have to respond rather than ignore. I hope they change their mind and just forget about it.
And I agree with the majority that they should fix some of the current problems before they create a new one.
Does anyone use the guestbook feature? I have 2 messages, both from Pogo :) And I have left zero messages for others.
Now for the important things….the weather in south Texas has been great this week. We actually got some rain and the temps dropped from the 90s down to the 50s 60s. It felt great to be able to let some fresh air in. It did start to get warmer again today, but hopefully not as bad as it has been this year.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!
Susan 09.25.09 at 4:51 pm
I think it would be nice to have a form on Pogo. That way people can get answers to question they have instead of going in rooms and hoping someone will answer them. I site I used to be part of has it and I like it a lot. It is a wonderful way to get to know people and meet new friends.
Cheryl5000 09.25.09 at 4:51 pm
I dont think Pogo should become a social networking site, there are enough of those already on the web.
The only way a chat forum would be any good would be if Pogo paid attention to any issues that were brought up in the forum but I personally dont believe that Pogo will be monitoring the site for feedback.
Pogo seems to have forgotten that it is a game site. I know they think they are making improvements but maybe they should take some surveys before they make changes to see how the players feel as a whole. They are spending their time trying to make the site a social networking site when they should be putting in more effort to add more games.
Just my opinion.
robin 09.25.09 at 4:55 pm
I read fourms all the time. Sometimes for tips and then sometimes just to see what people are bugged about
so yea I would like
Karen 09.25.09 at 4:58 pm
I dont think Pogo should add forums, I enjoy coming hear to find info on games and besides they have their chat areas at each game for people to use.
Iiannya 09.25.09 at 4:59 pm
so what I think about forums are this. They can be useful for information, but they can also be a way to harass ppl and to start things. I have seen it a lot on other games that I have played. ppl putting down other ppl because they ask a question that someone thinks is stupid, and so they call the person a newbie and so forth. If it is strictly monitored, which most are at the start but then the mods just give up, then it might be a good thing. I don’t see that happening though. Personally for me I would not use them because I have this website for any tips and hints and help that I may need.
Kat F. 09.25.09 at 5:02 pm
Happy Weekend Everyone :)
My FIRST question:
WHAT IS THE POINT TO ADDING A FORUM? Is it for more “Social Networking? PFFTTTTT!
Fighting and hard feelings…CONSTANT complaining….That’s what I see happening if Pogo goes ahead with this idea and adds a full-fledged Forum like Slingo or BigSea Games has right now.
MAINLY, because I don’t think it would function like it SHOULD—–INDEPENDANTLY and for the PLAYERS. Right now, there are too many Players that are unhappy because of the lack of Customer Service/Support and the Forum would be filled with complaints!
Besides the first questions I raised…here’s some more, lol
WHO SETS THE CONTENT, WHO’S ALLOWED TO BROACH NEW SUBJECTS AND WHAT WILL POGO “ALLOW” US TO SAY??
Censorship?? WILL THERE BE ALOT?? Who will monitor this Forum? Who’s gonna be running it?
Hhhmmmm, a bit to think about, huh?
Do the Players need it? I don’t think so…not what I believe Pogo’s opinion of a Forum will be….but that’s just my opinion. I’ve been a member of several Game Forums that DO funtion properly and when that happens, it’s a good thing. Somehow, I just don’t see “A Game Forum” and Pogo- together- in one thought. ROFL
If the idea of a Pogo Forum was a way to GET IN TOUCH WITH CUSTOMER SUPPORT QUICKER, AND GET ANSWERS THAT MAKE SENSE-FASTER– THEN I’M ALL FOR IT!! ROFL (giggle, giggle) Then again, I can’t see CS doing two things at once…no, make that three things….no, four things, noooo, five things…..LOL
On another subject….Has anyone else read about the Flash Arcade Pogo is working on?? I read about it on the UK site, in the Letters to the Editor.
A player wrote in asking if they could make a Snooker game and THIS was Ed’s response:
“But even if I can’t promise a snooker game in the near future, there is some good news to share with you!
The exciting news is that we’re currently working on Flash Arcade, which will be home to a collection of new games for those seeking a quick gaming fix. These games will be made in Flash (rather than Java), which basically means we can add a lot of new games quickly! This will give us a lot more options in deciding what additional games we’d like for UK.
Pogo News will of course have full details of the Flash Arcade’s release, but in the meantime we’d love to hear from other readers! What sort of games would you like to see on the site? What don’t we currently have that we should have? I think snooker is a great starting point, but I’d also like to add a darts game to the wishlist as well, if I may!” …… BLAH, BLAH, BLAH
Sounds like this is another “soon” project, huh? ROFL Kinda like the “Forum”….YIKES Aren’t they doing a bit too much at once here? Anyway, do you know anything about this Project, Lura?? I don’t remember seeing anything here…did you post info? This Flash Arcade Project isn’t old news…at least I didn’t get that impression. It was a very recent Letter. Has me wondering where they’re gonna put it?? Is it gonna be part of Pogo the site? Or will it be totally seperate?
Let me know the “skinny” if you have it, Lura, k?
Oh goodness!! I’ve written a book here, lol Sorry! I’m outta here….
Love your site, YESSIREEE!!
(((Hugs to All)))
Kat F.
P.S. I forgot something–as usual.
What Java Version (Update Version) does everyone use? i.e. Update 12, 13, 14, 15, or the Newest Java Update 16?
I can’t figure out which one works the best for me….help?? Please?
sean 09.25.09 at 5:07 pm
pogo adding a forum will just cause them more hardaches and headaches with all that they do now listening to people complain about weekly badges to many or not enough, about gems not enough etc.etc this would just be more of a problem for them to moderate with people using it as a place to view their opions when they cant in game rooms I for one would not use the forum my money is paid to play games andchat if I choose too. 1 last point I hope this will not add $$$ more for my yearly $$$ pogois great nowjust concentrate on making games and fixing the ones we have now.
Lura 09.25.09 at 5:17 pm
Man, you guys are keeping me busy busy busy today! Keep the great comments coming!
Kat: I don’t know anything about Flash Arcade but it sounds to me like just another set of games you’ll be able to play in your browser. I’d assume anything that’s wildly popular from there would be ported into a full Pogo game with chat and maybe even ranks and badges. There are *tons* of flash games sites out there and some have had moderate success, so Pogo’s probably just trying to capitalize on another trend (like they are with social networking).
Speaking of social networking, forums aren’t really social networking. They’ve been around forever and social networking is a buzzword from recent years. An aside: when I worked for a dotcom at the turn of the century we joked about this game called buzzword bingo. We’d all sit on conference calls and check off keywords on our bingo sheets. B2B! E-Commerce! Leveraging your network! Dot com! BINGO!
Jakers: as you probably know, their friends list and finding friends is a total beta disaster at this time. I’m on almost every night for several hours (totally hooked on Yukon solitaire, btw) but until they adjust the friends list so you can see what room your friends are in, your chances of finding me are pretty slim. You can, however, add me to your friends list and see every time I log on or off, hah. That way, when they do fix it, we should be able to find each other. :) http://bigseagames.com/profile/bigfishgamer_com
fier666 09.25.09 at 5:29 pm
Lura i think you should of explained a little more as to what it is, everyone seems to be picking one word or another and focusing on it if you explain to them EXACTLY what it is then they may understand its not a social network
fier666 09.25.09 at 5:31 pm
and btw big fish games isnt the best game site pogo is duh lol sorry I clicked your link and those words popped up
nephthys 09.25.09 at 5:41 pm
I am not sure if I would use the forums… I have enough going on when I am on-line as it is! Perhaps if I had a question on something I would go there, but I dont see it as something I would frequently use.
Anyways, I decline entry into the contest seeing as I already have enough free club pogo :)
Dan13 09.25.09 at 5:47 pm
FORUM = Failed Oral Redundancy Under Management (Pogo in this case) is doomed to fail unless “they” invest a huge amount of resorces to moderate the 500k+ potential comments per day. I do NOT like forums in general as they tend to degrade into demoralizing flame sessions with children trying to out-do each other. The solution is to have an huge amount of manpower dedicated to moderation which in short is sensorship; better to just not open that can of worms IMO. Anyway, shot answer is no I will not be using pogo forums if they come to be.
Lura, thought I would mention that the “bingo” nite on the UK side no longer exists – unless I am missing something; I am not getting the 6k tokens in any case, and have not since they started the “game of the month” back in .. hmm july?.. FYI.
Any word on the Special Edition badge … as in change to the requirements? 3 spiders 5x in one day is not going to happen … I have been playing spooky slots kinda steady to get the rank badge, I am rank 9 as of this post and to date have not hit 3 spiders 1x let alone 5x in one day.
Have a good weekend all

slycat001 09.25.09 at 5:57 pm
I have been skimming theseposts about the pogo forum of and on all evening….someone mentioned something to the effect that it was turning into something more than a game site, i thing it is as well. i only jusy renewed my membership not long ago and it makes me wonder what they are doing with all the good money that we as the patrons of pogo pay out every year for membership. seems like they would rather spend it in such nonsensical things like forums and games that people might never play but once or twice or maybe just when they put badges for them just to get people to play them. i truely think that this forum thing will be just a fad idea for pogo……………..think i would prefer to use the pogo guestbook rather than a forum.
was refered to this site through a pogo game and i am glad i checked it out, EXCELLENT site keep up the great work.
Lura 09.25.09 at 6:04 pm
Dan13: I think you’re just missing something. The UK Bingo Nights happen every Thursday (UK time, which is Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon for most of the US and Canada). It may just be that when you tried, the promo was over for the week.
ew: you probably won’t be able to play at Big Sea Games for a while. They are still in beta and membership isn’t open to the public yet. If you created an account today you’ll probably be on a waiting list for at least a few more weeks, since they’re still ironing out bugs and re-releasing new versions of older games they had on their old site. I wrote a comprehensive article about Big Sea Games for Gamezebo recently, if you or anyone else is interested in reading it:
http://www.gamezebo.com/features/social-games/introducing-big-sea-games
fier666: or we could just let people call it whatever they’d like and I’ll chime in when I have the time and energy. Either way, forums fit into the definition of social networking as a whole I guess, but just not my definition. :)
mymomknows 09.25.09 at 6:15 pm
i go into slingo fourums and i would go into pogo fourms .i think it is a great idear .i have met people in pogo and i go to see one who is just like a daughter to me.and a friend and her came to my house about 4 years ago love them both and their husbands .great people
Misker 09.25.09 at 6:18 pm
My member name in Club Pogo is MamaMisker — I think in regards to the forums being put in pogo that it would depend on how they are set up and handled as to if I would use them or not — in one way I think they are a good idea and in another I have to wonder if they would become a complaint fest only
Terry 09.25.09 at 6:18 pm
i might check it out…. It cant be as bad as the waste of time putting together the guestbook thingy LOL
I am nearly done with the golf sol badge!!!
Taking way to long LOL
fier666 09.25.09 at 6:24 pm
sorry Luna that was the wife under my name ive been busy with my new little addition to the family we got a baby siamesse kitten sorry about that
tcfox 09.25.09 at 6:42 pm
Nice article Lura :) I think I spend more time at BSG (even with all the glitches) than at Pogo anymore. Reminds me more of what Pogo used to be. More about the games less about the bling.
Denise 09.25.09 at 6:49 pm
I dont think a forum on Pogo would work. I picture too much spam, bickering, complaining, popularity contests, etc.
(Almost) everything you want to know about Pogo is found on pogo.com already. When I couldnt find my answer, I googled my question and found badgehungry.com and thats ALL I needed!
Brenda 09.25.09 at 6:59 pm
Well if pogo is going to start up a chat forum (which that what pogo is calling it) I more then likely will not be interested in it. I go there to play games, and I do meet a good deal of people in game rooms that will chat there and are willing to help if you need it. ( Or a least tell others how to get the job done quicker or for newbies to help them out. ) As for my opinon and its only mine, I can chat in game rooms and vent, give help and accept help, listening to others complain about getting badges that are too hard or too easy, ect. To me , playing games on pogo is a chat forum at times. I dont have the time to take and go somewhere to listen to all the above in another forum. Besides I think it will not work out because most people dont get answers emailing pogo why would they listen on a forum? It would end up as a shouting match for people who get mad at others or at pogo.
Just my opinon.
Mike 09.25.09 at 7:01 pm
Hey all-
I think pogo needs to just focus on games. Stop trying to add the whole social networking of it, and focus on the problems they have. Mystery movers gone, badges not working, etc. Fix what we all go there for!
Frank 09.25.09 at 7:12 pm
The idea of chat forums or any type of forums on pogo does inot/i interest me whatsoever. I come to pogo to play games, not post on forums. I rarely chat during gameplay but, on the circumstances that it does transpire, the pogo chat room suffices quite fine. If individuals ever had questions during games, its easier for them to ask right then and there. Helpful players may lend assistance. I dont need yet another distraction on the Internet itinerary. So, whatever shape this chat forum will take, I have no necessity for participation.
Addiitionally, I would find the concept to be a wee bit tedious for pogo to moderate. As we know, forums are clad full of spam, flames, insults, colorful language, et al. Will pogo really want to devote a team members time to sort through that muck? Pogo is supposed to be a family-oriented venue, so whoever must moderate the forum will be putting in a lot of overtime.
lr3216 09.25.09 at 7:35 pm
Hi Lura,
I have met some wonderful people through forums. If Pogo wants to launch one, I will probably peek in now and then. I will forever be grateful to you and this site that you so masterfully run, that, in my mind, this is my Forum! Thanks again for all you do for all of us!
Ban 09.25.09 at 7:57 pm
This idea is terrible, it’ll turn pogo into myspace and now they’ll have more areas for the spammers to spam. And not to mention they won’t have pogo unreleased info like my site (click ban to see it.)
Dan13 09.25.09 at 7:58 pm
Ok, not meaning to beat a dead horse but …..
On the forum thing … I am thinking that the potential abuse by far outweighs any benifit. I can just see some hotheads getting band for inappopriate comments. Opening the door for stalkers or other hurtful things will just degrade the pleasure we now enjoy from pogo.
IMO – Just Say NO to pogo forums.
ok off soap-box now
peace.
zeetrue 09.25.09 at 8:00 pm
Hey all:
I come to this site all the time and I am finally moved to give you my two bits of nonsense. In my humble opinion, ….. Lura you are becoming a huge threat to Pogo. This site is growing by leaps and bounds and don’t think that Pogo doesn’t know about it. They know everything. I find it interesting that we have your site to come and share information and tips and now Pogo wants to do a forum. HMMMMMM !!!!! I also agree that they are getting off track and should just stick with their games. When you have too many buns in the oven, things don’t come out they way they should. Pogo stick to your games please. Thanks Lura for this great site.
tigger 09.25.09 at 8:06 pm
i say that this is the best site ever to go to for info for anything pogo, lura and gang u rock!!this is the ONLY site i need or will ever go to, why?cause it has it all, even things upcoming that pogo hasnt told us about, love love love this site!!!
Melissa 09.25.09 at 8:12 pm
Personally, I wouldn’t touch the forums unless there was specific information that was given there. I am a member of a bunch of Pogo fan sites and I enjoy them much more than if Pogo started anything themselves. I realize that they want to do this in response due to the increase of fan sites that give out information that they wouldn’t. They, EA, should stay out of the forum business and leave it to those that want to run one.
My bet is that they want to run the fan sites out of business and make sure that they have more control over their members, but the moment something goes wrong with Pogo, the site will be flooded with complaints (I sometimes have had problems with the game apps on facebook and whenever there is a problem, the forums get over run with people who are going nuts at the time; its really interesting to see how nuts people are about a game not loading, etc.).
If anything, I would go there with technical problems or to read about anything new upcoming on Pogo.
Kathy 09.25.09 at 8:14 pm
I agree with most of the above . For me it will be a wait and see. I have seen other forum’s not sure if I really want to wade through all the mess. I am just happy to come here and see what POGOian’s have to say, add or help.
Totally agree with butterfliesRfree, they should hire LURA as she does an awesome job here.
Have a great weekend all.
ANGEL 09.25.09 at 8:22 pm
Since i won in the last drawing, please dont put my name in for this drawing.
I wont visit the forums, i dont even chat. to many people are very rude and nasty and i chose to stay away from that. i remember when Pogo first started and it was very pleasent but to much any more. i go to play games.
Dallie 09.25.09 at 8:33 pm
Happy Friday Everyone!
It’s been a looong week for me and finally getting my BH fix! I didn’t even finish my challenges yet lol.
On topic, the “guestbook” phase lasted about a minute for me. I’d be curious, (but only that) to see what they have planned regarding the forum. Maybe they would benefit more by keeping it completely seperate somehow so not to slow the pogo site down. Besides, do we need really need more chat-spat? I happily come here with all these nice people. What I’d really appreciate are some more snapshot pages.
LOL Pam! (57): Miss Nettie and her tea..
Good luck in the contest all! Thanks again Lura!
LanceAdelic 09.25.09 at 8:37 pm
I think the forum is a good idea for those who wish to participate, I for one wont be,but some people feel the need to be heard; whether it does them any good or not, so let them have their say … we’ve all signed the pogo petitions at some point or another and we see how much good that did us, but it did feel good to at least voice how we felt.
Tyler 09.25.09 at 8:42 pm
Pogo needs a chat forum like I need a hole in the head! lol
likestofish 09.25.09 at 8:48 pm
I have never posted to this site before but I read all the blogs and find them very informative. Thank You Lura for the badge tracker and also for the new game ranks and badges. I appreciate all the help at this site and have no need of a forum in pogo
I do not think that pogo is capable of creating and holding on to a forum. I wouldn’t be interested in one even if they did produce one.
I would like to enter my name in for the drawing.
I really thank everyone for sharing all the help on game tips. You all are good people really trying to help those of us that need it.
Thank You
Andrew 09.25.09 at 9:11 pm
Came back to check if some kind soul had some advice on the Word Riot dilemma I had posted earlier. Apparently no one plays that game.
While on the site and the thread I might as well add my 2 bits.
Q: Does pogo need a chat forum
I have 3 answers: NO NO AND NO!!!
John 09.25.09 at 9:14 pm
The bulletin board of yore
Is gone with the wind they swore
Must’ve been attached to, carried and dropped off in pogo’s backyard by an Unidentified Flying Balloon from Poppit!
Someone from Pogo’s R&D or QC or whatever needs to hop on Ali Baba’s Magic Carpet and take a ride over to THIS site for a quick tutorial on how things are done/run!
ceecee 09.25.09 at 9:22 pm
I am excited to have a chat forum for Pogo in the future. I have always wondered why they didn’t have one.
I cant think of any reason why it would hurt the Pogo community.
Karen 09.25.09 at 9:29 pm
Lura, thank you for your site…you are AWESOME!
Re: Pogo’s idea of a forum………hope not. The current in-game chat and mail features are more than enough for connecting with fellow pogo gamers. Guestbook was not a success or a member requested addition…why compound it with more time and effort spent on another bad idea? The Facebook-type applications are so stale and passe at this point, as well. Pogo excels at great GAMES. The graphics and way the games run keep me coming back to pogo, and the minis and the BADGES (sigh). Yes, I must admit I’ve found myself checking out the other game sites the last few months, as Pogo’s misguided path is becoming clearer. Additionally, I read a while back that EA was cutting staff due to economy, so why would they want to create new areas (additional workload) for the already strapped remaining staff? Here’s hoping Pogo smartens up and concentrates on their core Mission…..creating, maintaining and updating the great games that give us so much pleasure and happiness.
Jean 09.25.09 at 9:35 pm
Don’t really care one way or the other as long as it doesn’t take anything away from any on the games. If this is something they would have to monitor, then I feel it may take time away from creating new games, and fixing the problems that exist in current games.
Laru, would like to thank you for the work you put into this site. I come here first to find out all the new things that are happening in pogo. Seems you are more updated than pogo itself.
Thank you
Janet/Jeanetta64 09.25.09 at 9:36 pm
I am not yet sure whether I would participate in the chat forum in Pogo if they do end up getting it. I mean I would most likely check it out when it first comes out/if it does just like I would any new game that comes to Pogo! I am really not big on chatting anyway – I am a big time 100% badge ho lol!!!!!! I do chat with people at times but my main focus on Pogo is to play games and win badges. I would hate to see the chat forum slow down the website but I also think that maybe it would be to some peoples advantage to have it since alot of venting does occur in some game rooms and we all know what I am talking about lol!!!!!!!
Dallie 09.25.09 at 9:56 pm
Andrew (158): Word Riot is my very fav downloadable! Ranked out in that a long while ago, alot of fun. Just have to get creative. I’ve seen players use hints that rhyme with the harder key words. There’s also an option to choose some synonyms generated by the game. Not as popular though lol as some of those need clues all their own. But as you advance in the game you open special clues you can use along with your clue.. such as, “ends with _” ..or.. “_ letter word”, even colors or special quotes for your team. Made ranking up more fun. Alot of players, including myself at times, would give an uppercase letter in their clue, to match the first letter of the word they’re trying to make everyone guess. Hope that made sense. It’s been a while since I played. Maybe will pop back in one day now that I think about it =)
Have fun!

Dan13: Sorry about the mix-up on the bingo promo :(
I had some bad luck with another promo this week. The US promo for the “Tips with Tokens Wednesdays” starts Tuesday night at 5pm pst and ends on Wednesday at 5pm pst; I learned that the hard way (tried it at about 9pm, which is 6pm pst…too late) :(
It seems to me like they should leave it on from 12m on tues. to 12m on wed. It makes it really confusing for those who typically only play at nights; I have a lot of friends who only come on after 8pm (5pm pst).
sunbird 09.25.09 at 9:57 pm
Im sure pogo will get a large response to a forum if they start one. The big question is “When they start one” It could be a long time before they do. I dont know if I would add to it or not. I guess I would have to see how they were doing it. I never thought I would be making comments on here lol. I just hope it wouldnt take away from the games, as in slowing them down or freezing. That happens way too much now.

Kim 09.25.09 at 10:36 pm
I agree whole-heartedly with Tyler #156. I go to Pogo to relax , have some fun and “get away from it all”. If I want to chat, I’ll choose a room with a name that tickles my funny bone or relates to a topic in which I’m interested to find like-minded people and join a conversation.
Was in DC for past 2 weeks with only sporadic internet service… I had bad withdrawal symptoms from missing Pogo and this site!
rydealem 09.25.09 at 10:45 pm
I have to agree with those who say they come to pogo to play and chat with friends. Friendly chat with other players can get ugly in a quick hurry.
shaz 09.25.09 at 11:02 pm
hi e1 i hope e1 is great and wish u all a fab weekend,i read about the forums and personally wont use it as pogo is on twitter and we have a great opportunity to chat here on various subjects.i love the 2nd anniversary uk badge im wearing it with pride as im in the uk.can i say lura i love this site it growing fast with new things added your doing a fantastic job keep up the good work.
sweetlove 09.25.09 at 11:14 pm
oh i forgot to ask in my last post.
has anyone ordered gems with amoney order before?i usually jut ordered with my card but things have been rough my card is maxed and over limit. so i had to click the other options.and it has been a week and i don’t see my gems added.i thought about a prepaid card but keep forgettig and don’t know if that will work.and i don’t have a bank account ugh.thankfully i don’t have to worry about pogo for some years lol.i i don’t think they are going to be added before that 10th anniversary badge expires thats the main reason i bought them, going to be real stingy with them this time wait for sales, and get the limited ones first.hope someone knows if it takes forever.i really don’t know anyone on pogo or anywhere truely well to ask if i could have sent the money order to them and then they use their card and put the money on their card that i sent.and it cost a bit to track it down and see if it was cashed $5 is a little much just to track something i think.anyway have a good weekend all.
shaz 09.25.09 at 11:22 pm
u can play on big sea games if u was a member prior to it being updated.i play on there but not liking it u have to change ya screen size in order to see all the game and chat and not all the games that u played b4 r there for the moment. .i prefer pogo it the best game site.
Lisa 09.25.09 at 11:43 pm
I do not think forums are necessary for Pogo to have. I think there is all ready enough ways to chat to people if you so choose. You can chat in a game room, you can have private conversations, you can send emails to one another. I agree that Pogo should spend time on the games, that is what a majority of us are here for. Have a great weekend.
nephthys 09.25.09 at 11:43 pm
Andrew: Sorry I didnt see your question! (There are SOOOOO many comments this week due to the contest, I honestly didnt read most of them) Dallie (comment 164) has some good tips for when you play Word Riot on rally mode (I think thats what its called. I ranked out awhile ago and havent played since, lol)
In classic mode there are a few ways to give good clues. putting an x before a word means not. So if your secret word is day your clue could be xnight (not night… day!) Also, you can put some of the letters to the secret word in your clue. When you do this, ALWAYS make the FIRST letter of the word a capital. Again, using day as an example. xnightD… see? When cluing a word you should always try to put the first and last letter of the clue word into the clue if possible (first letter being capital and the last being lowercase)
I suggest when playing you go into the 40′s tab and theres a room there that is usually full (I forget the name of it) The players in there are really helpful and nice… and I have never seen them be mean to someone for cluing poorly. As long as you try thats all they ask for.
ALSO! You can choose to NOT be a clue giver and just observe for awhile until you think you have the hang of it. :)
Kimberly 09.26.09 at 12:02 am
I am not sure if I would use a pogo forum. I might if it is to find answers to pogo problems, however I usually find my answer here. This is a great site and I check it every day. Have a great weekend.
nancy lemke 09.26.09 at 12:07 am
i don’t think the fourms will be used too much! i think most folks just want to play the games for the better part. i doubt if i would be interested in it also. when i want to talk i use the chat in each game and that’s enough for me and i feel others will feel similar to myself.
DAWG 09.26.09 at 12:23 am
Forums on POGO, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm IMHO will be a mass means of saying whatever ya want., spamming, and just plain bs. POGO doesnt police themselves enough to run a forum. If they go ahead with it they should open up a new window for it and not attach it directly tp pogo website.
Just my 1.5 cents worth
granny43215678 09.26.09 at 3:10 am
Good morning Lura….Good morning all
Just to add my 2-cents worth on forums…I USED to go to another games site (until they changed it, and now, I won’t go back…Not BigSea, Lura (haha).
Anyway, they have a forum section..well done up, I think. It seems to work. I didn’t see where they got into big chat sessions..seemed to be more of a help section than anything.
I find that this site is all the help I need. I would probably check the forum out, but wouldn’t make too much of a habit of it…like this site has become to me.
Do you ever stop working Lura?
Thanks for all your hard work .
pat 09.26.09 at 3:18 am
well, my immediate reaction to a forum was “why?’. I have so much anxiety about going to their “help” people, even when they have live chat. I have never rec’vd a straight answer to a single question. My favorite reply form a live chat worker was “a technician will get back to you shortly”. Are ya kidding, it has been 3 months and counting, and “shortly” has never come. Another time, i complained that my jigsaw detective accumulator was stuck on 27 cases won, and I had gone 5 past this. They “fixed” it 4 months later, not taking into account that 4 more case had been won. They set it to the totals I had given them , which 4 months later were no longer valid. There is a trust factor here. I really want to trust them to fix glitches, I really want to trust them to get back to me “shortly”, I really want them to handle spammers. But, to give my complaints to the hand that feeds me my games and is unresponsive when I have problems…hmmm. And. like others I certainly don’t want to use a forum for complaining. I like to come to BH with happy people, willing to help others and share opinions and advice on gaming.
As to “guestbook”, think it is useless and pointless. I too would like more pages for my snazzy snapshots. We pay for all these nice mini outfits and I like to fix em up with cute accessories and backgrounds. I would like to pick from many more as my mood dictates.
One thing i have suggested many times, and did again recently, is a comments area on the “friends page”, where we could put a few notes like “good canasta player, sense of humor” or “lives in St. louis, right near my sister”, etc. It would sure help me as I proceed thru 7 years of friends and wonder why some of the names are on my list…and when and where i met em.
The more I come to BH, the more I enjoy it. Again, thanks Lura for all the hard work, organization, interesting observations, and eternal optimism.
Jeannie 09.26.09 at 6:14 am
I would not participate in a Pogo forum but am sure that others would. When I go to Pogoville, I go there to play games, meet up every once in a while with friends, collect badges and have fun doing them. To sit and read forum postings, personally, would be a waste of my time in the land of the Tiki Brothers. Judging from past experiences in rooms around badge night, it would probably turn into a giant slam session with the “I hate this game” and “why do they make these so hard”. There is enough drama on Wed./Thur. so why give folks a bigger base to complain on? Bring us more games, fix the ones with problems, and give us more badges to work towards. Just my thoughts.
Paint 09.26.09 at 7:03 am
My first thought about a forum is “bad idea”. I can see a lot of opportunity for troublemakers. If it would be a place for solutions from Pogo, since I don’t usually get much help from their Help, that would be nice. But I can’t imagine it being useful or informative. I come to this site for that. I go to Pogo to play games. I don’t think I would want to spend much time on their Forum.
Cat 09.26.09 at 7:32 am
Hi all and have a great weekend. This site is wonderful. Thank you, Lura!! If Pogo had a forum, I’d check it out. Not be a participant. Too busy trying to earn tokens! :-)
kinney 09.26.09 at 7:37 am
I agree with most others that a POGO forum is a bad idea and that they have other issues that need to be addressed quicker,The one and only bright spot I could possibly see is that all the people who are Drama seekers and attention lovers would all have one place to congregate and see who could win the award for biggest whiners, and who is most ignorant and leave the rest of and i am glad to say the majority of wonderful POGONIANS alone to have mature, pleasant, conversations that leave a bright spot in a day! Btw i have to say that I am brand new to this site and am so impressed with it and all the ppl who post here.
The weather is turnin chilly in Oklahoma as well and am looking ofrward to the upcoming haunting season! Happy Fall to All!! ^+^

shygram 09.26.09 at 7:47 am
I would not participate in a chat forum on pogo. I go to pogo to play
games not to participate in a forum. I believe that there is monetary gain for POGO. Whether it be more advertising or a bigger draw to potential members. POGO is a company and money talks.
catania1966 09.26.09 at 8:23 am
Hi all, hope you are all well.thanks again to lura for this site.
As for a “forum” content on pogo, please leave me out ! isnt there way too much already out there.I come here to RELAX ,play games, meet different people.Thats way enough for me – i dont facebook, twitter, myspace whatever. I believe pogo is here for games – thats what we pay our subscription for ! maybe they should spend our money concentrating on that.maybe then they could allow non us/canada/uk members to buy gems, play scrabble etc, which we cant do!!But they are happy enough accepting our subscription money!!
As for those of you not looking forward to fall,i’ll swap you my spring for your fall anyday! i remember my fall in usa very fondly, lots of lovely scenery, nice friendly people and great food! enjoy!!
Diane 09.26.09 at 8:31 am
I go to POGO to play games, not to check out a blog. To each their own. I just want to win one of the free 6 month passes to Club Pogo. lol. Thanks for all of your efforts to keep us informed, Lura.
Kelli 09.26.09 at 8:50 am
I think POGO should just keep their minds and time on the games and the glitches that happen every time they add a new game. I do not think I would want to participate in their forums…YOU CAN NOT BEAT THIS AWESOME SITE YOU’VE GOT SET UP LURA!!!!! I think it’d be fruitless for them to even be playing with the idea!
And that is……MY OPINION Have a funky day everyone !!!
nancy 09.26.09 at 8:52 am
I don’t care one way or the other. You either use it or not. Good Luck to Pogo if they do it.
Silvia 09.26.09 at 8:55 am
Hello everyone this is the 1st time i am writting on here,(sorry) but i must say that i don’t like the idea of pogo’s with the chat forum.. geeshh if i wanted a forum i would sign up to an forum.. there are to many people in pogo already how think they have a right to say and write what they want.
Soo NOOO is my answer to the chat forum.
GLADYS 09.26.09 at 9:00 am
Hi, We have other places to visit for forums (like here) so pogo really doesn.t need one.
booboo2 09.26.09 at 9:07 am
I hate the idea that Pogo is thinking about chat forums. WHY, WHY WHY? I can see that platform being nothing more than a place for the people who already complain in the chat windows to do it some more and I refuse to participate either way. Like many have said I want them to use the resources they have and fix what they have but when Twitter just got received a 1 billion valuation on Wall Street, they probably feel inadequate.(for the record I don’t use twitter either). I don’t know maybe it’s me but I wish Pogo would go a little retro soon and concentrate on just the game instead of all this extra BS like Minis, Forums, Guestbooks, etc. It’s a disgrace and is a reason why people I know including myself have starting migrating elsewhere. I’d rather pay MORE and get what I want.
alnme26 09.26.09 at 9:26 am
Really? Part of the fun of Pogo is being able to chat while playing the game. Whether about the game, moans and groans, or meeting folks, or just a laugh. But I do not agree with separate forums, one we have great sites like this that are very well managed and two if we can already chat why would you want forums? Too many people already complain about the chatting now this just adds fuel to their fire, in my humble opinion.
Dawn 09.26.09 at 9:28 am
i will not be using the forum chats either u can chat on pogo and if u dont want other people interfering then use private chat u can even have more than one other person in them so i dont see the point in having a forum
LOVE the ranks page!!! great job lura!!!
Janice 09.26.09 at 9:39 am
I just wanted to thank you Lura for a wonderful site you have going here but for participating in a forum i am too busy playing the games and dont have time for all of that. if anyone has any suggestions for phlinz i would apprecitate some help in how to get 250 groups of 5 or more drop in 2 hours!!!! thank yu in advance my pogo name is playjpf3
Andrew 09.26.09 at 10:37 am
Jst wanted to say TYSVM to Dallie (#164) and nephthys (#174) for the very helpful clues, pointers, hints and everything else associated with Word Riot Deluxe!!! I appreciate your help more than you will know!!!
Here’s a case in point Lura for why people USE your site so much. In the middle of a contest 2 very kind people took time out to answer my question…can’t thank them enough and YOU for providing the outlet. YOU and EVERYONE who visits here are the very BEST in my book!!! Thank you again!!!
free 09.26.09 at 10:41 am
OH BOY! This is going to be great. Can’t wait until 1,000,000 people start complaining about pogo on pogo. Don’t you think they will love it too?
granny43215678 09.26.09 at 10:43 am
Jeannie #180 well said…sounds about right.
Lazaro 09.26.09 at 11:27 am
I think a pogo forum would be redundant to what this site already provides. I learn an awful lot about game play, badges, etc. from the comments here and from the site in general.
sassy 09.26.09 at 11:40 am
Hi again all–
I too have a huge thank you to Monica (#48) for helping me with squelchies..wow, I did what you said and it worked! I had been playing on easy and the blowfish never came up when you hit new game..ty ty!
I like this site, lots of opinions and nobody gets ugly..makes me so nervous if there are confrontations…I’ve taken what my mother used to say to me to heart, “Now everybody play nice”…lol.
Have a good and safe weekend..
CasualObserver 09.26.09 at 11:47 am
Hmmmm, interesting topic. Besides using This awesome web blog for information and Q’s getting answered, AND asking ur questions in the actual game room you have Q’s for….I think it could be really helpful and beneficial to have a pogo run forum that u could go to for help on a specific Q on a specific game…..
Plus, not EVERYBODY on pogo uses this site or this blog…..so you might get some info from someone on pogo in a forum that might not even like to chat in a game room. I dont think it’ll take away from this site or this blog……..b/c the fact that this is more of a fan run thing, it’ll always stay popular….especially with the way she(they) run it to keep it specific and keep each one for a diff topic………….
thx, i think this is dragging on now
ciao for now
Richie!!!!!~
Cindy4764 09.26.09 at 11:49 am
Holy Moly, I click on my first ‘gaming’ stop in the morning and see 198 posts on the weekend thread already? Lura, your terrific site is surely growing. It’s like the old days in Hollywood, everyone who is anyone comes here to get the scoop, LOL.
As for forums at POGO, I’m not interested in them, though it won’t affect my playing experience there. Like some others, I go to POGO and Big Sea to relax and enjoy myself, not to spend more time chatting away. My family has a website where we post news and pics that I like to keep up with and I have a message board I’ve been posting on for 10 years with the same group of people. Plus I have a small group of 5 cyberfriends who ‘chat’ in email every single day. With all that and real life friends, that’s enough chatting for me. :)
Lura 09.26.09 at 11:53 am
Cindy4764: giving away free stuff really brings people out of the woodwork. :P
sassy: I realize I moderate the comments here, but it’s more for making sure spam doesn’t get through than anything else. I can only recall one or two comments since January (when I started allowing comments) that I’ve asked to be re-written due to the commenter’s tone toward another person and it was no big deal in the end. :)
TemptedFate 09.26.09 at 11:56 am
Hi and Happy Weekend from the hot and humid swamps and bayous of Louisiana!
sweetlove: I have never used a money order for gems but I have used my checking account (pogo processess the payment thru another party). The site stated that it would take 7-10 business days. Although the money was deducted immediately from my bank account thru electronic funds the company still waited 8 days to give me credit.
The payment method my hubby and I use is pre-paid American Express Gift cards and we have found if you purchase from CVS Pharmacy it is instantly activated. We have purchased many different types of gift cards from many different stores and some places have a 24 to 48 hr. waiting period before activating (This is the stores policy not the gift card company). That is why I was specific in what type gift card and where we purchase.
Hope this helps you!
As far as pogo forums, I can see disater in the making LOL
And Lura awesome job and as always awesome site! Please don’t enter me in drawing as I won several times in Subway contest.
Carolyn 09.26.09 at 12:54 pm
I honestly dont think pogo would put something out there if they weren’t aware of the ‘what ifs’. That being said, would i use it? Heck no! I get more info than i need here and then some. Why go somewhere else, when theres the best bunch of ppl from pogo already in one place :)
adeliegerbers 09.26.09 at 1:08 pm
Hi Lura,
I do not wish to be entered in the contest. (Thank you anyway)
Personally I think Pogo should put all their time and energy in keeping the games up and running. Recently I was in a room where people got very mean to one another. More than half the room tried to report the abusers and they got booted from the room because Pogo could not handle the volumn. How will they handle a forum?
Have a wonderful everyone.
maarie1980 09.26.09 at 1:13 pm
I honestly think it would be stupid if pogo added a forum. It was set up as a gaming site and I think it should stay that way.
Kat F. 09.26.09 at 1:40 pm
HAPPY SATURDAY FROM A RAINY KENTUCKY- USA,
Could NOT keep my fingers away from the keyboard….tried to, but couldn’t!
RE: zeetrue–Post#149: OMGosh!! I so agree with what you said—Lura & BH becoming a threat to Pogo and that they KNOW IT!!
Lura, it’s true!! BadgeHungry IS DEFINITELY A BIG THREAT and it’s growing bigger EVERY DAY! :) YOU SO ROCK!!
Think about it for a sec? You provide/give us: Free Token Links, In-depth Breaking News on anything Pogo, Up to Date Info on the Current and Coming New Games, ANNNDDDD, NOWWWW, you’ve given us a Ranks & Badges Page for alot of the Games. PLUS, you allow and ENCOURAGE, Feedback and Communications TO and FROM the players….I could go on and on about what BadgeHungry provides– that Pogo doesn’t!
Continuing on…Where did Pogo’s Promotions Page go? I can’t find it half the time and when I do, it’s laughable compared to BH’s!! It’s like Pogo doesn’t WANT us to get the tokies, ya know? All I can find now is the SHARE Page…and guess who they want us to SHARE with?? Can we say Facebook, MySpace? haha
AND NOW? NOW? Pogo has started the TOKEN TIPS thingy?? HHMMM….isn’t that your next project?? I KNOW we sent in Tips for a whole weekend so you could add to your “already-in-the-works” TIPS PAGE!!! (Can’t wait for that!)
HO, HUMMMM….HERE comes the idea of a Pogo Forum?? Now? Geeee, wonder where they got that idea? :)
I do have to think you’ve got Pogo running scared!
WTG, I say, lol
Keep up the good work because we all LOVE you and BadgeHungry!
This, my friends, IS, MY OPINION! :)
Hope you have a great Saturday and Sunday, Lura. Everyone.
‘Til next Weekend Thread, see ya!
((Hugs to All))

LadyCatzilla67 09.26.09 at 1:46 pm
Public forums I don’t think would be good on Pogo. Someone will say something and it will either be to another member or about another member then you got a big fight on your hands. Public Forums must be monitored 24/7 to keep the fighting and mud slinging under control.
Someone might post pictures that young eyes should not see, that is if that would be allowed on the Pogo forums.
Think this would be a hugh mistake for Pogo to take on.
My hubby has a website and it can be a mess to straighten things out between people on there when people are not careful of the words and pictures they chose to post.
I think it would be a BIG mistake for Pogo to make a Public Forum.
Lura 09.26.09 at 1:50 pm
Kat: I’m sorry, but I disagree wholeheartedly. BadgeHungry is in no way a threat to Pogo at all — if anything it’s a huge benefit for them. It gets people excited about upcoming badges, minis, games, and events (and therefore they keep renewing their subscriptions and buying more gems). It also answers questions so their support (and Editor) doesn’t have to. It provides a source for all of their current free token offers that they don’t have to update and maintain (like their hard-to-find promotions page, which often has broken links and whatnot). And my badge tracker helps their players see what they’ve accomplished in the games, giving them motivation to go back and play MORE games at Pogo and to continue their subscriptions year after year. It’s all the things you say that BadgeHungry provides that Pogo doesn’t that make my site so valuable to Pogo itself, not a threat.
As far as the tips pages go, I’ve started adding in the tips that everyone has submitted (and the ones that people are still submitting) on each game’s ranks and badges page. You can find the full list here:
http://www.badgehungry.com/game-ranks
It’s a slow process, but little by little I’m getting the tips added. (For what it’s worth, I’m not adding them in any order other than what was submitted to me first. I’m skipping all over the place to put in tip after tip, but if you’re just checking alphabetically it won’t seem like much is being added.)
CarolsBooks 09.26.09 at 1:52 pm
Happy Weekend Everyone. I hope you aren’t in the South like i am. I have webbed feet and my house has lots of damage from the flooding rains. But, on to the question. I wouldn’t sit around and chat in forums. I go to Pogo to Play! OTOH, if there were tips in the forums for game ranks and badges I would check in to read over those. I don’t have a lot of faith in how Pogo would run the forums, though. I really think they should just stick with the games.
As for tips, we get those here at Badge Hungry and a few other sites, but I don’t think most people know about these sites or they’re afraid they are doing something wrong by coming here to get the free tokens, so there may be more tipsters. Thanks, Lura, for these contests. I hope to be a lucky winner some time.
Theresa 09.26.09 at 2:26 pm
Hello Pogo Lovers. I think forums could go both ways. Forums for each game that would include how to make the most of that games feature and hints would be helpful. As for anything else, I can see Pogo leagues and other groups using the forums for their own personal stomping ground. Some of the leagues aren’t as welcoming as others. I’m sure we’ve all come across the league that’s asked us to be quiet and such while they conduct their business. I hope Pogo doesn’t spend the majority of their time on adding more ways to chat. I’d prefer Pogo to spend more time on games, mini items and prizes. How does everyone feel about the new non-members page? If they had that before you were a member, would you be a club member today? Thanks for listening (reading). Theresa : )
Angel*queenpeachplayer* 09.26.09 at 3:02 pm
It would be nice to have help on games you’d like to play but can’t figure out . However, any of the other sites that have forums, they seem to be more trouble with people not knowing how to act.
fier666 09.26.09 at 3:27 pm
Catania1966 post 183 this waas in the letter to the editors on the UK side.
slycat001 09.26.09 at 3:32 pm
from what i have read while skimming these notes here. everyone seems to be saying bacically the same thing, pogo is in desperate need of a reality check, that they are more focused on everything else and have lost sight of whats most important – us as patrons of the site and our club as well as non club memberships. that boardwalk seaball game is just terrible but i do enjoy the crossword cove though. i don’t think complaining to pogo does much good cause it seems to me like they have better things to deal with than complaints or things that have gone wrong or in need of repair.
fier666 09.26.09 at 4:15 pm
Accually this is only a couple hundred posts to 1.5 million subscribers who really knows what the masses really think shrug just because you disagree or agree doesnt mean its a bad idea
Lynda 09.26.09 at 4:15 pm
I will probably check out the forum but don’t think they will work cause too many troublemakers are around. People who want to stir up madness, hurt others feeling and such. Love the site Laura. Check it out every day. Thanks for all your dedicated word.
vibirdlady 09.26.09 at 4:21 pm
Lura/all, I’ve already posted that I don’t believe Pogo should add a forum to their site. As this is open thread, I would just like to ask that any one with knowledge help Janice, post #194, & myself in getting the Phlinx badge where you have to drop 250 groups of five in 2 hours. Most I have done is 189, am playing on hard level, feel sure someone here has the answer for us. I read this site daily before going to Pogo and am slowly going up both in ranks/tokens/badges. Many, many thanks to Lura for this site!!
tcfox 09.26.09 at 4:32 pm
Just wanted to say to Pat (comment 179) – I think the idea of a small comment section on the friends list is excellent – That would be something very useful. :)
donna m 09.26.09 at 4:54 pm
Personally I DO NOT like the idea of a Pogo forum. There are so many forums out there already and Pogo I’m sure would have many many rules. I visit forums to get hints for games and discuss all types of stuff that has to do with Pogo, a lot of which I’m sure Pogo would not allow. Just the chat filter alone is enough to drive me nuts. I mean you can’t type ha ha in someones guest book or not type many innocent words on your mini. I would imagine there forum would be the same. Seems like a forum owned by Pogo would be boring first, not have the info I was looking for 2nd and third of all I think It would just turn into a pile of complaints. The pine cone passing police would probably try to run it anyway LMAO

Post #105 stated: “Pogo is a game site, I come to play games. If I want I can chat, if I don’t like ads I can pay to be a club member (badges – an added bonus lol). Pogo should spend time developing games and fixing current issues with games. Why do they want to be “a jack of all trades” when they should strive to be a “MASTER OF GAMES.” I just love this site. Lara TY so much for the time and energy you put into it.”
I agree 100% with what Jan (Post #105) said. I couldn’t have said it any better.
With many MAJOR corporations, things run in cycles. They get their hands into everything, and a few years later they downsize and get back to the basics. Then a few years later they start branching out again … well you get the point. I’ve seen it all too often because I’ve been working at the same major corporation for over 30 years.
Will I use the “chat forum” in Pogo? My answer is most definitely a big, fat NNNNOOOOOOOOOO!
As usual, LURA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EdC 09.26.09 at 5:45 pm
I just noticed you included all the recipes for each rank on the Crazy Cakes rank page! Bravo to you as this is one game I hate but have always been curious about the recipes. Thanks again ;)
I also saw the ad on the bottom for ‘Belly Fat Diet Recipe’ LOL
Indy 09.26.09 at 5:45 pm
vibirdlady and janice – Personally I did that particular challenge on the Beginner leven even though I would normally play on a higher level. I think since you got 189 on the Hard setting, you will get your 250 on beginner. Hope this helps and good luck.
Lura 09.26.09 at 6:23 pm
EdC: I used to have a standalone page that linked to all of the recipes, but when I created the ranks page it became unnecessary. The old page wasn’t linked from anywhere but the right sidebar for a few months after Crazy Cake’s release and then it fell into the archives. I’ve heard a few of the recipes are REALLY tasty, but I’m not in a ‘domestic goddess’ point in my life and haven’t baked anything in a long, long time so I don’t know firsthand. :)
fier666: earlier you mentioned your wife had used your name (and email) to post — you can let her know to just type over what is set in the Name and Email fields with her own information for her future posts. :)

Personally I think a forum would be fantastic. A way for players to discuss games, get badges, get ranks, and get some help playing. I have been in chat when someone comes in and asks for help on how to play. The other players get nasty. I read rules on games I don’t understand but can still use a little help sometimes. Forums can be used in a good way for discussion if there is not any arguing or being rude. I would be thankful for one myself. I love Pogo and its games and its actually saved my life a few times when things get tuff. I have met some wonderful friends on Pogo and can always use more. Thanks so much for this topic. SexeMom44

To Vibirdlady on Phlinx #217-Play on EASY. I tried playing on hard also
and got more tokens but not 250 drops of 5. Try checking timer. I have found some games timers run fast. Took me 6 times to get it. This was a tough one for me but I got it. Work as fast as you can–you will get it!!Good Luck!! Maybe someone else has a better idea.
I say NO to pogo forum!!!! Love it here-great job Lura
Carolyn 09.26.09 at 7:44 pm
For the Phlinx badge, dont activate it until you’ve completed 3 of the 4 rounds. That will give you extra time and should work first try. Good luck
grammy2pa 09.26.09 at 7:44 pm
I haven’t had time to read everyone’s comments yet however I couldn’t hold back. Pogo has to many pokers in the fire. Why in heavens name would they now want to add chat forums?? Pogo please stick with fixing the evergrowing number of glitches with the games and if your really running out of things to do look at redoing the help section of the site. Leave the chat forums out of pogo and stick with the games! There are several chat forums floating around, this being the absolute best and the leader of the pack.
mall 09.26.09 at 7:57 pm
I don’t think pogo should have a forum…I like coming to BH for info about pogo, and it doesn’t mess up anything on the pogo site when I do…A forum is not needed but so many other things are, some of which are posted here on this site.
pam’s comment (#57) gave me a good chuckle. Loved it. And the post about the ass kissing (#*87)in amazing minis was soooo true, been there and experienced it firsthand. It would be my opinion that pogo thinks it can run a forum the same way they run the amazing minis rooms…they dominate the chat with their own group of pogo kissere instead of faceing the real issues when others try to ask them a question. Thats one of their ways to avoid giveing an answer. The thought of a forum on pogo is a joke! A “pogo and Pals Page” might be a better name to call it.
Love your site Laura. Real people with real things to say. And the best part is , you let them have their say!
pat 09.26.09 at 7:58 pm
As to the phlinx game, here is the way i did it, on my second try after analyzing where I could cut some time. Have the game up and running and minimize it to tool bar, then loaded challenge, I used easy, and (lol, dont laugh, this worked)….I saw that i was wasting precious time on the jp spin and loading of new game…so i played 3/4 of games..in other words only 3 of the 4 quarters, then hit “new game”. The scores accumulated faster, but i probably missed out on a great jp spin..Anyway, finished with time to spare. Hope some of these hints are helpful.
ChellBell 09.26.09 at 8:38 pm
Did anyone notice (or is it just me) that todays british answers for Trivial Persuit are incorrect?
Lura 09.26.09 at 8:44 pm
ChellBell: it’s tomorrow in the UK already. The answers aren’t incorrect at all. :)
Janice 09.26.09 at 9:03 pm
Personally, I do not think the forum on pogo would be anything like the forums we have here at Badge Hungry. Pogo will not be so helpful with the badges, shortcuts, and things like that. Badge Hungry ROCKS!!!! I have so much enjoyment with reading weekend threads, the helpful tricks of the trade, and so on. No other site I have visited have helped me in so many aspects as this one.
pat 09.26.09 at 9:16 pm
Lura, I was so excited that i was nearing rank 30 on Crossword Cove
till I went to your quite handy ranks site. I believe in not blaming the messenger, so you are exempt. But, I was dismayed by the number of puzzles needed to get to ranks 40 and 50. I realized I will be doing this daily forever and a day. Then, I fully understood the task you and your helpers are doing, and wanted to pause and thank you for all your help.
So, kudos to you all and thank you for all you do !!!!
Cindy 09.26.09 at 9:33 pm
I would like to say first off I wish not to be entered into the drawing I am already payed up and am happy paying for pogo myself,
that being said this is my own non humble opionion. Ive been a member of Pogo for many and many of years ive never had a problem with any of there help when I have needed help in the past in fact I love the idea of the live chat feature.
I read someones post saying that Pogo isnt a Social Networking site I disagree there are thousands and thousands of people that come to Pogo to play with there grandchildren across the country or across the world for that matter if you play with friends that is a form of social networking.
It seems to me that instead of bashing pogo for oh my goodness
accually caring enough to add diffrent features to there site some people dont come to this kind f site because pogo DOES deem alot of the information on this sight as cheating perhaps not the free tokens but anwsers to TP CC Hijinks and lets not forget about the poppit cheat.
Yes, the Forums may attract Pogo bashers The Control the room Leagues(which is one thing Pogo should of stoped but thats IMO) ive read thru mosy of these posts and instead of responding to the people that had questions or need help from games you just had to take the chance and bash Pogo a site mind you that most of you pay to go play which is mind boggling why on earth you would pay for a site that apparently doesnt listen to you never fixes the glitches and has way to many sticks in the fire to add a feature that people if run correctly could enhance the average pogoers fun time at pogo. That being said. I guess its pretty evident I would like Forums to go in but I guess the people that are loyal to the other game sites are affraid Pogo may take even more of there fan base away.
And Lura I know this prolly isnt going to be accepted because its moderated but for a site that is suppose to be a Pogo Fan site seems to have turned into a Pogo Flame sight its evident by the responses. But thats the way it works I guess. I did enjoy coming to your site.
Maggie 09.26.09 at 9:54 pm
Pat (229)–thanks for the great Phlinx tip……that sounds like it would work great!—will definitely try it……..
Carolyn (226)—–I may have missed a post (there are so many and I have tried to read them all), but I dont see how that tip will work for the 250 of 5 or more……..
BTW, I have counted as I worked on this badge and made groups of 5 but Pogo only counts them if they are more than 5…..
Neo 09.26.09 at 10:01 pm
Im paid up for several years, so Ill gladly pass on the extra time offer.
A lot has been said about the pogo forums. Theres really nothing to add that hasnt already been said as far as pros and cons. My doubts lay on them being able to control the boards. Id hate to see some scam sites spamming there. Since pogo doesnt have much control in the game rooms, I doubt they could control the forums in a timely way.
Forums could be a plus in getting info from pogo on their own site. Seems like they are catering more to facebook and twitter for an info source instead of focusing on putting that content on their site.
Trey 09.26.09 at 10:04 pm
i think pogo needs something like yahoo messenger not a forum.
But a Forum would be nice if every post gives you 50 tokens!
Pamela 09.26.09 at 10:24 pm
I am writing in regards to your “forums” category. Frankly I feel that Pogo should leave the forums alone. We are in pogo to enjoy playing games, either alone or with other pogo players. We are not there to express our opinions about matters not involving pogo games and game play. Forums will lead to people not playing pogo but just mouthing about whatever that forum happens to be at the time. Big mistake!!!!
Also…a hint for poppit fans..if you are working on a badge that needs you to be on medium or hard difficulty…play on easy and when the “you win” screen pops in immediately switch to medium or hard difficulty…you will get the credit on medium or hard and NOT on easy. Makes game play easier and faster and still gives you the badge credit.
Evelyn 09.26.09 at 11:43 pm
ROFLOF! Pogo wants to add a *chat forum* to go along with the HUGE welcome it’s GuestBook received… heeheee. You’ve got to be kidding! I like Pogo for the games. The friends/chat is just an added MINOR bit of enjoyment. I do wish they would spend their resources on the games.
Another Susan 09.27.09 at 12:13 am
I’m just thinking that a forum on Pogo would have to be heavily(!!!) moderated. Just from being in a few rooms where there was high drama going on in chat I can see some players trying to extend that toward the forums.
I agree with other people here that I don’t see Pogo letting specific tips for short cuts to games. It seems to me they would consider this as a cheat and that would be against their TOS.
How many people would they have to hire to moderate a forum? I see most of the question posted being referred back to TOS or “How to Play”.
Tsa 09.27.09 at 12:16 am
A forum may be good for some to trade tips and secrets and get some feedback/support from Pogo when there are weird outages and such, for example the other night gems disappeared, then they were back a few hours later. A message posted on a forum would have probably kept a lot of users from contacting them to find out where their gems went.
I’m not sure if it would add or distract, forums are serious work, they would need a lot of moderators to control and keep topics on topic.
I probably would not participate on a Pogo Forum, I tend to forget to check threads and then you always have someone dig up a post from a long time ago and ask a silly question just to be flamed.
I agree with the comments, I come to BH nearly every day I’m playing at Pogo, this is the best Pogo site :)
Thanks!
Terry 09.27.09 at 1:54 am
I think the trivia switches over in the uk at 7 pm central time for me so i try(not always succesful) to get both of them done before that time!! Just pay close attention to the uk date and u will know if its switched over yet!!if it has go to calendar and play the one u missed :)
hillbillynoel 09.27.09 at 2:24 am
just a brief comment on sue’s post 225, your right about timmers running fast, ever time i play in UK site and then come out my computer is running fast and have to reset my clock, not sure why this is happening. Is anyone else having this problem?
Thanks so much Lura, what a fine job your are doing, wonderful site
Beverly 09.27.09 at 4:11 am
I don’t think that this is something that POGO needs and I think it will detract from the site. And I won’t be participating im there to play games and to for the open chat and thats all.
thanks, Bev
Linda Cunningham 09.27.09 at 7:59 am
No I would not participate in a forum.
David 09.27.09 at 8:59 am
I think pogo would monitor it and than it would not be open. This being off their site is much more open and people are open more to giving their honest opions.
sexyspongebobc 09.27.09 at 9:35 am
i posted earlier this weekend to pogo not having forums. i decided to check out another game site that my teens play and i also joined to play a word game i enjoy. i like having an avitar to dress and play with lol me and my barbies. well this am i checked on the forums that are run there. now iam a novice to forums so not sure if its great or horrid, just liked a few things that i thought if pogo had a forum would b nice to see. like watching movie trailers and getting free avitar items. answering silly quizzes and getting their version of tokens. i thought that was the coolest. i would love to see pogo add something like that, then i would check it out. as far as chat well cant say i didnt take the time to look because iam not into chatting with teens lol got enough of that at home. now i probally would not chat on a pogo chat forum either i enjoy the rooms and the peeps i might see there and meet.
now i also wanted to add in about the guest book feature. no i did not think it was all that interesting until i got my first entry. i was elated. then i used it for my friends to send speacil get wells and happy birthdays. the best thing that happened was that a speacil friend of mine who i had a falling out with years ago got back to chatting and being friends because of that guestbook. she never my new screename and so i was blocked from being able to catch her playing so we can chat and fix things. so i sent a message thru the guestbook. lo and behold she answered and here we are pogo buddies again. i have also used the feature in rooms wheres theres\ is no chat and i want to ask a player a question. i see nothing wrong with it. pogo did great by it.
now i want to answer cindy (234) i agree i been reading the messages here for a few weeks now. there is alot of pogo bashing but and this is a big but theres also alot of pogo love. as i was always taught i cannot have everything my way even tho i believe iam entitled because iam me. lol yes pogo screws up its a game site yes they make descions we dont agree with. yes they dont always listen to us the player the ones who keep their wallets fat. i have not personally been to many places where any one has listened to my ideas or complaints lol for example restauraunts stores and so on. HERE iIS THE KICKER LURA LISTENS SHE FEELS FOR US, SHE ALLOWS US TO VENT TO BASH TO GIVE BIG SHOUT OUTS TO POGO FOR GOOD AND BAD. yes there are cheat tips so what do not use them. free tokens grab em their free. message board use it to say what u need in moderation. lol cindy i loved your message i may agree with some points but not all. i truly hope u would come back to us we need folks to keep lura busy. lol
now with that i send all BH folks hugs and a great day. its the end of the weekend so sad lol off to pogo to play poof till next friday all
RV60 09.27.09 at 10:30 am
I think a chat forum depending on how they structure it could be a good thing. But in reality they would get so many questions complaints it would get bogged down pretty easily. Most of us come to Pogo to relax and enjoy our games.
Laura 09.27.09 at 10:32 am
I don’t think a pogo forum is really necessary. Whenever I have a question I can usually get it answered by someone in the game rooms, pogo help or badgeaddicts (btw: I LOVE this site). I doubt I’d ever look at their forums.
Jane 09.27.09 at 10:43 am
There are enough talk forums on the internet already. Pogo is for playing games. If people want to chat in a room, that is fine but we do not need a “chat” forum.
Dave 09.27.09 at 11:28 am
I think a forum would be benificial to many especially to advise others about this great info site and such promos like the subway scrabble game that can save many some money on getting free pogo membership passes, of which pogo fails to mention except some references in “Letter to the Editor” thank you much Lura for condening those codes and keeping this site updated, I and my family have won so far 51 of the 3 mo. passes and gives us all some free time saving 40.00 a yr thanks to you.
Dawnie 09.27.09 at 11:40 am
Hmmm, one has to wonder, is Pogo biting off more than they can chew? Forums require lots of work by moderators, I have to wonder if exisiting employees will be assigned those tasks, or will they hire a ‘moderator’ dept? I would much rather have the resources of the current Pogo employees being used to create more games, and not turn into internet police.
Dawnie 09.27.09 at 11:42 am
I dunno, the more I think about it, the more I really dislike the idea. Ultimately I don’t think they will be ‘productive’. In fact, I see all sorts of mud slinging, accusations, and name calling. Not my cup of tea….
Deb 09.27.09 at 11:51 am
After reading about the new forum about to start, I am appalled. I have tried using pogo’s help site, and even used their live chat for help w/ ranks in both jigsaw detective, and jigsaw treasure hunter being poofed! In both cases I was basically told to be happy w/ the badges I still have and to ignore the fact that my progress has been wiped clean. One reply said it might take many many months to fix this glitch. If pogo cant fix these problems, how do they think they are going to be able to run a forum effectively?
Diane 09.27.09 at 12:18 pm
I do not like the idea of a pogo forum at all. I wish they’d stick with developing games – lauch them with no glitches – ( I know, in my dreams) and avoid forums totally. We can chat on Twitter or Facebook and don’t need yet another social network.
Kat F. 09.27.09 at 1:13 pm
Hi All,
It’s finally stopped raining here in Kentucky! Whew, was feeling a bit moldy. lol
Lura, I understand your point of view, thinking you aren’t a threat to Pogo and also understand how you DO compliment and HELP Pogo too. Yes, you do provide ALOT of services that Pogo DOES NOT. We all love that. :)
So it leads me to ask: WHY and to WHAT END would they want to venture into a Forum?
Which was my original question, lol
Are they planning to include ALL the content and services you already provide here?? I do think NOT.
THAT was my point. :) That maybe you are stepping on some “toes”.
YOU and your site are very valuable to us and BH is a HUGE draw to Pogo Players….don’t you think that bothers them a little?? I DO!!
But your point is well taken. I understand where you’re coming from…. But don’t be so modest, lol (grins) You’ve been “noticed” by TPTB at Pogo.
((Hugs to All))
Kat F.
Maggie 09.27.09 at 1:19 pm
I don’t use the Guestbook, so I doubt if I would use a
forums on Pogo. I go to play games and get badges.
So, I do not care one way or the other.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion about it though.
It does look like the nays are ahead of the ayes on this topic.
Kathryn 09.27.09 at 1:33 pm
Participate in a Pogo forum hosted by Pogo employees?? The answer is a resounding No! Pogo does a great job with games but have shown me little in other areas. I, like many others, have experienced problems in important areas of customer support (or lack thereof) as well as more minor areas such as mini items. I found myself avoiding non-game areas all together on the Pogo site! Much prefer to spend my time on your site – blogs are better!
Jan 09.27.09 at 1:34 pm
I posted probably about 200 comments ago and have both been surprised and learned quite a bit on this thread.
First of all, I am one of the non-chatters for a variety of reasons that range from high drama, language, uncomfortable topics etc. I know my options and I use them. I have been surprised to see the number of people who also choose not to chat. These are all reasons why I think it would be problematic for Pogo to run a forum. As I understand it, EA has had to lay people off and it seems like a well run forum would need a lot of patient, intelligent, consistent fair mined people to keep things in order.
As always, Pogo will do things in their own time and we have the CHOICE (hopefully) as to participation. If people do participate, I am concerned about Pogo/EA using their posts against them somehow.
I must strongly agree with Lura in that she not only does all of us a great service in running this site, but Pogo benefits on every level from the existence of Badgehungry for the reasons Lura listed in an earlier post.
Lura, you do a wonderful job. There are fansites I used to go to all the time until I found Badgehungry. Now, this is best place for information about Pogo and it is has attracted a friendly, helpful community on the Weekend thread. Kudos to you Lura.
If Pogo wants their forum, good luck to them, but I’ll wait and see while I stop by here for the best most reliable info.
donna r 09.27.09 at 1:50 pm
i am not the brightest bulb in the pack i know when it comes to anything to do with puters but wouldn’t u have to leave ur game room to go to the forum? That is how i see it working but i am not really sure if i am or not. I love love love to chat in game rooms for the most part with the few exceptions of games that really dont allow u much time to chat. As i have said earlier i doubt that i will do much in that part of pogo maybe even less that i have done with that guestbook they have. lol and that is precious little.
Have a great work week to all and gl in pogo hope to chat in rooms with you all
StardustPlayer 09.27.09 at 2:04 pm
I think the only forum Pogo should have is one titled “I love Pogo – BUT…” I think that would be one super active forum, for sure. It would be a great place to talk about why they always send us a non-relevant auto-response to our Help questions – and only respond for real when we reply back telling them that their auto-response wasn’t relevant. It would also be the place to talk about game glitches, server problems, etc.
Other than that, I would probably not participate in any Pogo forum. I work fulltime and spend way too much time on Pogo as it is. I joined Pogo for the games and challenges and badges – not for a chat room.
Another Susan 09.27.09 at 2:19 pm
Pogo may be wanting to add to the paid members. They could allow the forums to be read by all, but to post it would be restrcted to be a paid member. With that it would open up the possibility of more revenue from the advertisers and maybe having to allow ads via email?
Lura – #129 – thank you for taking me down memory lane with your Buzzword Bingo. The company I worked for got on the bandwagon with Quality Control in the late 1970/early 80′s. I had just transferred into the data center and was put on a “committee”. Yes, I was low man on the shift.
We not only did the Bingo, but would keep track of which person used the most buzzwords in a meeting or on a call.
Mia 09.27.09 at 2:24 pm
I also don’t see the need for a forum in Pogo so I would probably not use it. I enjoy playing the games and chatting with people as we play.
Have a good weekend all.
kpa1952 09.27.09 at 2:48 pm
I am pogo addict ! I go to play the games, get badges not talk in the chat rooms. If I want to chat there are forums like this one.
Charlotte 09.27.09 at 3:13 pm
I honestly don’t believe a forum is needed, and from what I read from Pogo, they don’t really think it is necessary either. The questions they asked and answered themselves, tells me that they aren’t real enthusiastic about it. But then, why should they be, we have our chats in each game, we talk with our friends and family there, and we also moan and groan when we don’t like what we see or play. So I say why bother? It would detract from the gaming of Pogo, which is what it is all about anyway. Have a great week gang and enjoy!
Kay 09.27.09 at 3:25 pm
I don’t believe that we need a forum is needed .they added the guestbook which i haven’t seen it used very much .i agree that it would be just place for people to complain about how they hate a game or that the tokens aren’t right.pogo should just work on the problems we already with the new games.and give us more personally badges to work on i usethose to help rank out on games i am playing. I won’t use the forum if pogo gets it i chat with my friends in the room or on phone.!
Chrissy 09.27.09 at 4:11 pm
I do have a question and since this is the open thread and most people are “in the know” i wanted to ask here. I’ve been seeing people talking in the chat about pogo raising prices. IIRC I paid about $30 for a 1 year sub. The way they are talking it’s going up to $40 for a year. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks in advance!!
AnotherJan 09.27.09 at 4:35 pm
I never did understand Pogo adding the Guestbook to their site. If you wanted to say something to a person, all you had to do was send them a Pogo email.
I don’t see many people using the Guestbook and, from what I’ve read here, it sounds like the “chat forum” would be as useless at the Guestbook.
I don’t understand why people would think that if they are having a problem with Pogo and they can’t get their problem resolved through Pogo Help, that they think they would be able to get answers from Pogo in the forums? There are some problems other people might be able to help you with, BUT you could get that help in the game rooms (I have). The problems that only Pogo can fix, well like everything else … Pogo will fix it on their own schedule.
I don’t really see any good coming out of a “chat forum” in Pogo. If anything, the people who do use it won’t be playing games as much so there is a chance that people won’t be buying as many gems … they won’t be playing as much as they used to because they are now spending more time in the “chat forum.”
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that. I’m just voicing mine now.
Eve 09.27.09 at 4:38 pm
I am new here. A person I was chatting with told me about this blog and I am so very glad to have found it. Lura your site is awesome. Thank you. The people who participate in it are great and I, for one, appreciate the tips they give on the games. They have helped me quite a few times. I used to go to “Badge Addicts” once a week or more but now I just come here to “badge hungry”.
It is beyond me why Pogo would want to have a “chat forum”. One can already chat on the games if they want to do that. Maybe though, there are some lonely people out there that would appreciate the “chat forum” although I don’t really know how the forum would work. As for me I doubt I would use it as sometimes chatting in the “game rooms” is quite enough for me.
Have a great weekend and an even better coming week.
AnotherJan 09.27.09 at 4:40 pm
Chrissy, a yearly subscription to Pogo is $39.99. Sometimes they run a sale for $29.99, but that is for new members only.
Lura 09.27.09 at 4:42 pm
Pretty much everything I had wanted to say on the matter of Pogo possibly doing their own forums has already been said, but here goes:
From the standpoint of a fan site owner, I’m kind of excited about the possibility of Pogo forums. I look forward to those slow news weeks where I can go scour the Pogo forums to find new things to post about for you guys. (I do this all the time for my Big Sea Games fan site and it’s worked out well.) It’ll give me an even better idea of the ‘pulse’ of Pogo and current events, plus I know I can save some time for those of you who won’t be willing to wade through the crazy on the forums for the important news and information.
Someone mentioned they were excited to be able to share this site with other users on the forums. I’d be honored if our visitors could share this site with even more people, but it’s unlikely that Pogo would allow links to outside web sites on their forums — most corporate forums do not allow it, and heck, some other Pogo fan sites/forums won’t allow it either. As it is, word-of-mouth (I assume in chat rooms, emails, Pogo mails, et cetera) drives the majority of people to this site, followed then by search engine queries and direct links from other web sites.
From the standpoint of a fan, meh.. I would be interested to see how Pogo sets them up and how they use the forums to not just drive revenue but also to keep their players interested in participating and reading. I probably won’t participate (it’d be too tempting to give out my site’s url, heh), but for the reason I stated above I will probably read them more than most users. I’ve seen what’s happened at the Big Sea Games forums and that site is only allowing a limited set of users for beta testing now. Let’s just say the sheer number of complaints and frustrated posts far outweighs and makes it very difficult to find any important information there — and their moderators are absolutely on the ball.
I think we can probably guesstimate how the Pogo forums will work out by taking a look at EA’s forums (ghost-town for the majority of the boards, imo) and by looking at the quality and type of responses that they get to their Facebook status messages (off-topic, people trolling for free passes, and asking questions instead of using Help or reading the news).
I do not envy the person or people whose job it’ll be to moderate the forums. It will be a full-time job and then some! Trust me, I’ve got the unique viewpoint of seeing ALL comments and ALL email that comes into this site, and I have only a small share of Pogo’s fan base visiting here on a regular basis. Not only will they be policing the forum posts to avoid ‘unauthorized content’ — and they *will* edit your posts as they feel necessary — they’ll have to break up fights, answer the same questions over and over and over again, and find ways to make sure that people who are seeking information get it. (Oh, and to those of you saying Pogo should hire me for such a job: they couldn’t possibly afford me. :P)
It’s tempting to say “Pogo should focus on games and nothing else” but that’s probably unrealistic. Any people they may assign or hire to moderating and maintaining forums will not be people whose skillset would enable them to create new games. Yes, there’s budgetary matters involved, but the casual gaming industry is seeing a bit of a boom despite these ‘hard economic times’, it’s a growth period for sure. I honestly believe that Pogo always has and always will — guestbooks or forums or crazy pipe-dreams aside — focus mainly on the creation of great games.

This question and the UNANIMOUS NO for an answer are a colossol waste of everyones time. Everyone knows pogo never polls either club members or the general public at large. POGO DOES WHAT POGO WANTS. Live with it!!!
Another pet peeve that runs this thread: game glitches. After (presumable) in – house testing AND end user sampling beta testers (who again presumably are not inept and bring glitches to pogos attention) it SHOULD be pogos responsibility to fix all games before release…but it doesnt happen. WHY recruit beta testers at all?
Just some random musings from a casual passerby.

I come here everyday to read all the good people here that express themselves, give out tips and helps others. I never before went anywhere but once a week, but here feels like family, I find a lot of you on pogo playing games and that is where I found you Lura…I enjoy coming here and have told many of my friends on pogo about this place. Of course by me telling my friends others are reading also. lol
Anyway, you are right about the pogo chat forum. I agree whole heartly. Thanks to all in here for help and ideas, but mostly I thank you Lura for this place which I have learn to fall in love with from the start. YOU GO GIRL

I can understand why some people enjoy forums. For myself however, I have found I do not have the time, energy or desire to follow forums. I dislike having to look through all the threads to find the ones I’m actually interested in. And then when I find the thread I want, it often is full of negative comments. In addition you have to deal with flame wars. I would not follow the forum, even if it was directly done by Pogo.
Also like others, I have serious doubts as to whether Pogo could maintain control over the forums. With the number of people on Pogo, if even a fraction participated in the forums, it could easily turn into nothing but negative comments and flame wars. The only way for Pogo to avoid that would be to moderate all comments and if they have the staff to moderate all comments, in my opinion they should be spending the time and money on games instead.
Personally I come to Pogo for the games and like many others I am frustrated by Pogo’s attempts to make it more of a social networking site.
That said, I love your blog Lura, it perfectly suits my needs. All the new information is released in a nice chronological order. So I can easily check every morning and sometimes during the day for what is new.
Since comments are attached to the post, I can look at comments for tips, ideas, thoughts, etc when I’m interested in them or skip over them if I’m not. I much prefer this type of format. A good example is the weekly badge comments, if I have a good tip to leave on the game or need some help, it’s easy to access the information for that weeks game only. Unlike the forums which would have all the tips, ideas, thoughts, etc, for all weekly badges since the thread started.
Like I said, personally I would not have the time, energy or desire to follow a forum.
So thank you again Lura for this blog, which truly does enhance my Pogo experience and your great minis on the weekend open thread which always make me smile or laugh.

Wouw what a lot of reactions, so here is mine:
I dont think we need a forum for social network. When you want your socials contact you can chat with a lot of friends on pogo or people you like. It depends on what they want with a forum, what subjects they want to discuss and what they want to do with it. Would it be more information for the players or not?
I think they can better concentrate on the games and find out new games, thats what pogo makes great. When they want a forum they must know what they want to discuss and they need a lot of moderaters to, just to check its aloud what people are talking about. I think they better can spend theire time, its timewasting, thats my opinion.
What we need we have here on this site, tips and tricks for the games and the answers for Trivial and Crossword Cove isnt it?
So Lura go on with your great site, you are doing a very great job and I want you to know that I have send a lot of people to this site, because it is the greatest site to find tip and tricks and also to find the free tokens.
The first thing I do every day is checking out this site, so I dont miss anything.
Greetings and a very big hug for Lura ;-) she deserve it

I don’t think I would have much use for it .

AnotherJan: Thanks, I wasn’t too sure on the prices. I’ve seemed to get lucky and get them on the cheap. I am wondering why people are talking about raising prices…. Maybe it’s their first spin and the increase for the next year is a shock to them. Either way I hope they don’t raise the prices anymore. Pogo is emptying my wallet… Leaving nothing but moths lol

Chrissy #278 – You will find that people on Pogo start the rumor about increasing prices about every 6 months or so, even though it isn’t true.
When Pogo is going to have a price increase they will announce it in the Pogo News. I think it was $35 a year when I joined in 2004, so it’s not often that they increase prices.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!
