Pogo Mini Snapshot: Pogo Fan since 2001!Happy Weekend Everyone!

And happy 10th again to Pogo! Did you enjoy this week’s festivities? (Earlier this week we put up a roundup of all of the events, if you missed it.)

Also, around Pogo-land this week, we finally got a fix for Crossword Cove and thanks to HomelessDog, BadgeHungry is now sporting an awesome hole-in-one screenshot gallery for Mini Golf Madness courses. Also, because we helped Pogo break the record, go get your 10,000 free tokens to celebrate (we added a link on our free tokens page). Don’t forget there’s a weekend’s challenge in Mahjong Garden, too.

This week’s general topic comes from Kathy, who asks: when did you find Pogo and how long have you been a member? Did you immediately subscribe to Club Pogo or did you wait a while (if ever)?

As always, the weekend thread is for any comments or questions you’ve had all week that didn’t quite fit into other threads. Feel free to talk about anything you’d like.

See you in the comments!

I found Pogo way back in 1999 but went through a couple of name changes due to (saying this politely) someone using a cheat on my name and disqualifying me for a prize that I had won.

I found Pogo through Excite and it wasn’t much then but it sure did help me deal with a lot of free time. I joined up automatically, back then if you had an e-mail account with Excite then they used that as your Pogo screen name.

I’d like to thank everyone on this site for contributing all of their hard work, time and effort for giving us a little help with some of these games such as Trivial Pursuit, Crossword Cove and an old game that is now helping me as well Hangman Hijinks.

This site is extremely informative and I have become addicted to it.

I already have my Mahjong Garden badge for today and I’m off to do my Trivial Pursuit and Crossword Cove.

Thanks to everyone who has helped!

Have a great weekend!

Found regular pogo in 1999, don’t remember how, someone told me about it, lol. Then of course when Club pogo started, I said “no way am I paying for that”, but low and behold I did in 2003 and have been an addicted fan FOREVER. Got many friends to join also, so now all we do is play pogo and try and outdo each other in bages, lol. It is so addicting and sure does help in cold winter times with nothing else to do. I suffered thru poppitt and got the mahjong badge already, so now I too am off to do trivial pursuit and crossword cove. This site has been a blessing in helpful hints and I love it. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and has not suffered too much POPPITT dreams, lol. Great job Lura!!!!

I found pogo early on (2001 maybe) when they first paired AOL with pogo. I played all the club pogo games from the inseption but didn’t join until Christmas 2003 when, extremely addicted to World Class Solitaire, I was visiting my parents and got sick of logging into AOL to advance my rank. Instead, I bought in to Club Pogo and haven’t looked back. I have played and hosted in leagues and have made some amazing friends. I only wish I had joined Club Pogo from the very beginning so I could have used a different screen name. My email at the time was Frenchteacher14 and I’m no longer a French teacher (I get asked allllllllll the time). lol

i cannot remember how i found pogo, but been a member for a couple of years, sure helps pass time and helps relax and have found many a friends, and a wonderful league at that :) laura that site is still around and does work

MariaLoon 09.11.09 at 10:39 am

Originally, I was a regular club member on one account in 1999. I found it from a friend in an AOL chat. We’re still very close friends and she still uses her original name on here.

Then I made another regular account in 2001. That second account, became my first Club account in August 2003. I had well over 1300 badges, but I decided to “retire” that name and cash in all of my tokens for drawings. I did recruit many friends and family members during this time to join Pogo. Many are still very active ;)

The name I currently use (MariaLoon) is the name I had always *wanted* to have for Pogo, but they kept telling me it was taken…until January 2009! I made MariaLoon then, had a 30-day guest pass, and activated Club Pogo on it, right as it was going to end. I will never get rid of this name and be a complete badge hungry addict foreverrrr LOL

I will keep getting more friends and family to join me there. It’s the best site for unwinding and having a good time. Even with the occasional drama which lurks about on Pogo lol

Due to a very demanding customer, I finally bought a home computer in 2004. (I think I was the last one in my office to do so.) At the same time, I bought a Pogo game. I think it was Word Whomp – tried the trial membership and have been a member ever since.

As much as I love Pogo, I was a little disappointed they didn’t celebrate the 10 year anniversary in a much bigger way. – Like some new exciting feature or upping the number of weekly personal challenges.

As far as Badgeaddicts goes, since I found BadgeHungry, I never went back. I find everything I need here. Great site with lots of helpful people.

Have a great weekend!

I am an original member of Club Pogo. It was great to see my name on the list of original Club Pogo members. I learned of Pogo due to playing games at yahoo. A friend and I used to play games at Yahoo all the time and we heard about Pogo in chat (I think). I started playing Pogo exclusively. My favorite game was the original “Word Riot”. I made several friends playing that game. It was wild to play Word Riot when it first came out. There were so many rooms that people tried to make their room only, other room members would come into other rooms and just cause big time trouble causing lots and lots of fights amongst players. The best thing was there was a boot button where you could boot troublemakers out of the room. Boy, that was wild. I was not surprised to see Pogo end the game due to the trouble it was causing. Anywho…..I joined Club Pogo right away when it became available. I have been a member of Pogo since August 1998. I can not believe it has been over 10 years. I love Pogo and am addicted. You will find me mostly playing Lottso these days. I sure wish they would increase the ranks in Lottso.

Have a great weekend!

Jeff & I found Pogo in 2001 or early 2002. I can’t remember how we found it, just glad we did :) In October 2004 I joined Club Pogo. I’m so sorry I didn’t join in the beginning as I’ll never be able to get those special badges from the early days. I spend way too much time on Pogo and have purchased every premium badge and album that has been offered.
If anyone had told me 5 years ago that I would be playing games to get tokens and badges…..and shopping in the Mini Mall so I could change outfits on my mini…..I would have told them they were crazy :)
Thanks again Lura for all the time and work that you put into this site.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

I was referred to Pogo by a friend and was a freebie for almost a year until they “broke” the access from Mac’s Safari and Firefox ran soooooo slow. (I still don’t think they fixed it as it seemed to be a good scheme to get all Mac users to go club – it was the ad loader that crashed the games.) My mom was hooked by that time and had no patience for the broken system so she bought everyone in the family club pogo for the holiday. Now we all talk to each other more on (and about) Pogo than on the phone! So I played the free games for about a year and now am just short of a year being a club member.

12

shelly 09.11.09 at 11:32 am

Just logging in and looking at my profile I have been a Pogo member for much longer than I realised…..lol
I first became a free member in Oct 2003 but didn’t pay to join club until Sept 2004.
I can’t remember exactly how I found Pogo but it was either by clicking through from another game site or just by searching for free game sites online.
I don’t regret that day for a minute…..though my hubby might…lol

Also just wanted to confirm something from last weekends game tip thread. I posted a tip about Lost Temple Poker (holding/weighting down enter key and game will spin for you) and someone said they didn’t think it was still working. At time of posting this message I can confirm the tip is working.
Just wanted to mention it to clear up any confusion and incase it had put people off trying using the tip.

Have a good weekend everyone!

I found Pogo when my friend Dave had been playing it all the time. He had sent me a guest pass and I used it once and forgot all about the site for a couple of years. Then some other friends were playing it too one day so they sent me another guest pass and I was hooked. I’ve been a member since 2006 and I love playing. Its hard to play during the summer since I’m so busy but once winter hits I’m on it all the time. Hope you all have a great weekend

Sarah 09.11.09 at 12:37 pm

I found Pogo through the Big Fish Gamer site in December of 2008. I was looking up a Ciphrase answer that was driving me nuts and scrolled down and found the link to Badge Hungry and decided to check out Pogo. There were a few games that were fun but I didnt really find it that interesting and I didnt want to pay for the club membership to check out the rest of the site. This was also just before the holidays so I couldnt justify the expense just to play games. Over the next couple of months I played here and there until there was the two week trial period to play the Club Pogo games. I tried it out and had a great time. At the end of the two weeks I paid for the membership and have been hooked ever since.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

hello everyone happy weekend!
I found pogo in 2007,I was playing on yahoo games and I seen a ad for pogo and thought to see how it was.I became club pogo member after pass someone gave me and have been hooked ever since.
I do have a question.I know we can double browse but is it possible to quad browse? I have been wanting to get those darn rated pinochle badges.those are the harded badges on pogo.I know we can make the screen smaller but I dont want it to be too small its hard to play.I know it would be way easier with 2 computers but I only have one.
thank you lura and everyone who helps,I love this site very friendl and helpful wonderful people love you all! *hugs*

Trish 09.11.09 at 12:53 pm

I discovered pogo under various aol screen names back in 1999 and have watched it evolve (much like the Mahjong Dragon…lol) over the years. Ranked out in many premium games for free as an aol member, but then due to time constraints couldnt sign up as a member until recently. Pogos the Best….no doubt about it!!!

On another note….just reading through the threads and comments I feel very fortunate to have found a community of caring/sharing people. Thanks guys for all the tips, hints, heads up…etc etc!!!

Lura…how DO you do it all? Im working on a one of a kind item for you that like the Bud commercial goes: For all you do
This BADGE is 4u!!! lol

Hope u see more of all of u …. Tc and have a GR8 weekend!!!

I found Pogo in 2003 and then found a dear friend was a Club Pogo member. We played together and chatted several times a week. When she had to go out of town for about 10 days, she asked me to get her badges for her. That was in 2006. In exchange, she said she would buy me a Club Pogo membership. Well, after 2 days of Club Pogo, I bought my own membership! I was that hooked and havent looked back. I now have well over 1,300 badges, all the PBAs and Im working on my 17th MM album. We still get badges for each other from time to time and give each other hints and tips. And of course we pair up for a lot of the challenges.

And, thanks for a great site Lura!

18

Lura 09.11.09 at 1:46 pm

Trish: thanks. :) How do I do it all? Well, part of the answer is that I don’t do it *all* — there are tons of amazing and fantastic people who are always in contact via email and comments, and they definitely keep me on my toes. The other part is that the site’s been built up over the past few years, little bit by little bit. It’s not that much on a day-to-day basis, just adding it up though seems like a lot of work. :)

sweetlove: you can probably quad-browse, you’d just need four different web browsers and four different accounts.

Charm: did you ever play the new Word Riot? As someone who played the old version, I was just wondering if you found the new one to be just as fun.

Happy weekend all! I remember playing Jungle Gin way back in the AOL days. I passed up three passes before going in for the plunge in 2006. Wish I joined sooner as I reallllly want that Sorceress mini-costume to come back lol, so jealous when I see it around from time to time. I’m so addicted, but currently my question is, “What am I MORE Addicted to? Pogo or Badge Hungry?” Now that’s a tough one ;)
Woo & Yay to the Crossword Cove fix! I’ll finally get caught up this weekend. A special thanks to Mbpmorris for the Poppit tip!..who woudda thunk? lol

A friend told me about Pogo and I joined in Dec. 05. I currently have 146 different badges. To date I have never paid for Club Pogo, we are watching our pennies. Ive earned all the badges thru the various weeks and months of free Club Pogo, offered by Pogo and jointly with others, like Womans Day. Though now I have 3 months free that I won on this site last weekend – awesome – thanks to Lura and all those who donated them. Getting used to this much Club Pogo, I may need to hint to hubby that it would be a great birthday present!

The 146 badges does not tell the whole story though. My fave game is Poppitt and I have earned at least one of the Poppitt badges 27 times, as I usually chose a Poppitt badge as my personal challenge.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Daniel 09.11.09 at 3:23 pm

Happy weekend everyone! Apparently I missed a lot since Ive been gone for more than a month, but whatever, Ill catch up.

Anyways, I knew of Pogo since 2003, and found about it from my mother (who passed away last month, so Im keeping her Pogo legacy going). I joined Club Pogo in 2005. I waited a while to join because I was kinda skeptical about Club Pogo back then. But I still joined, nonetheless, and I still enjoy it.

I just wish I joined Club Pogo sooner, I missed out on so many cool super badges that we cant get anymore. But at least I know I wont miss any more badges =).

I played some pogo games several years ago (along with others) but didnt realize there was a club until a couple of months ago. I signed up (even though I was a little skeptical at first). Now I spend most of my day, every day playing. Its great and quite addicting. Im so glad I found this site, it really is great!!!
Ive 1 question: when you rank out of a game you can start over by clearing your stats. But do you lose all the tokens youve earned. Thanks in advance and have a great POGO day!!

23

Kathy 09.11.09 at 3:49 pm

I found POGO on AOL in 2001 and finally became a member in 2005.
I dont remember how I found it, but now cant live without. Of course that means I have no life! LOL

I agree with Dallie, POGO or Badge Hungry. B.H. first, so I dont miss anything, then on to POGO. Then back to B.H. to browse all the comments.

24

kiki 09.11.09 at 3:51 pm

ive been with pogo since 2003, club since 2005. i was with AOL back then and actually used pogo more for downloadable games than for the site itself. it was my then-boyfriend-now-husband who got me playing and my sister who got me on club by giving me a gift card subscription for xmas 2004.

in honor of the anniversary, i donned the first badge i ever earned from pogo (other than the club badge you get): Tumble Bees Honey Blossom badge. and very appropriate, since that bee is named kiki, lol.

Connie, you can clear your stats but you wont lose your badges for the game or tokens. You will not get more badges, just more tokens. (But do you really wants to clear your stats? Some who have done it have said they regretted doing it.) gl

I found Pogo in 2001. My Grandad had recently been diagnosed with Cancer and had taught me to play Cribbage, he used to play every evening with my nan, so he taught me so that I could play with her whenever I went down to keep her company. I cam home and decided to look for an online Cribbage game so I could learn the game fully and thats when I stumbled across Pogo. I found a regular room and had a laugh with all the other regulars, was a fantastic time. I must of gone through hundreds of names on different passes that the members in there would give me. Sadly, about a year later we all went our seperate ways, I then worked on a weekly badge, messed about with my mini and became hooked, decided to bite the bullet and became a Club Pogo member in 2003.

Sadly, I had my name banned through no fault of my own in November of 2005, I left Pogo for a while being rather peed off with them, had earned over 800 badges, 10million tokens and they were taken away. In April 2006 I created a new name and have been with Pogo ever since.

First to HomelessDog – Thanks so much for the mini golf screenshots. I have a couple of the badges but can concentrate now on getting the Astro course, thanks to you. What a wonderful thing to share with us and I appreciate it. Ive been with Pogo since 2000 having found the net ten site first in 1999 and playing on Pogo now for 9 years. The changes have been remarkable during that time. I have been on Club Pogo for several years, have completed every premium album except the last one and Im starting that one now, have completed 16 mix and match albums, and Im truly addicted. Sure Pogo has its flaws and its glitches from time to time, but dont we all? lol I have met some the best people on Pogo and on this site also. Happy Birthday Pogo and hoping everyone in BadgeHungry-land has a super weekend.

32

Kevin S. 09.11.09 at 5:28 pm

I found Pogo somehow, I forgot where and how but it led me here? Maybe Yahoo Games had something to do with it? I dont know. But Ive been a member since 2004, and was just a free member then. I took a 1 year hiatus, and it wasnt until X-Mas 2006 that I went into Club annually. Ive been getting badges ever since, cause I love a challenge to keep me into a game! I havent skipped a beat, doing the Weekly and the extra add ons on top of it.

Question to Lura: Hate to bother you with such questions, cause I know youve answered them before or you get annoyed by it by me and other users.

But…have you got your small upgrade in regards to the server yet? Just wondering.

And just a suggestion and it would help many users who use the Trivial Pursuit Answers or Crossword Cove Answers, but can you add a previous or next link on each of the dates please? Because I hate to go to a day, go Back and go to another day then repeat the same process.

Thanks.

Candi 09.11.09 at 5:32 pm

Been a Club Pogonian since June of 2001 but played about a year free of charge before I took the plunge. Much like many others, I couldnt justify in my own mind paying for playing games on-line. But then I got so very tired of those ad interruptions that once I played as a club member, there was no going back. I dont have a clear recollection of the course of events, but according to records, the first badge I earned was in Poppit in January of 2006, so that must have been when they first started offering badges (?)

I vaguely recall playing on some other site and somebody mentioned Pogo and I checked it out. Dont even recall what that other site was, but I think its long gone now. My profile reads Occupation: Im working on it. That says it all…

34

Brinn 09.11.09 at 5:35 pm

I was first invited to play a game of backgammon at Pogo around 2000. I didnt like it but I absolutely loved Word Riot and Hearts. When Pogo got rid of Word Riot and started a membership I played only Hearts for years and years. But then they brought Word Riot back and I had to join so that my mini wouldnt be stuck with only Word Riot costumes. That was several million tokens and a gawd awful amount gems ago. And the rest, as they say, is history.

35

Ro 09.11.09 at 5:54 pm

June, 2004 – I was devastated by the end of a long term relationship was just reading emails on aol a squelchies ad came up. So figured ok, lets do this for awhile not have to think about anything else…met some really nice people playing the game in August noticed the badges so asked about it…joined Sept 2004 currently have 5 family members playing now including Mom who is 83 (thats a whole story in itself). Just want to say that Pogo was my therapy (cheaper than by the hour therapist LOL) and Squelchies was first game I ranked out on. Anyway, thanks again Lura for a great site.

36

Lura 09.11.09 at 6:02 pm

Kevin S.: I actually haven’t gotten that upgrade yet — I’ll have to bug my tech support to see if I can get it done, I’m sure it fell off the radar somewhere along the line. :( The holdup on my end is that if I go ahead and get the profile pages working again on this configuration, then the new one goes in it may not work at all and I would have to redo all of that work. I’m just not keen on doing things twice, so it’s got to wait til I get my upgrade.

As far as the TP/CC links you’re requesting, I’m not going to add those. You can use the category-based archive for a different view if you need, just use the dropdown on the sidebar to get there. The answers archives are indented under the game’s listing.

37

shelly 09.11.09 at 7:05 pm

Candi #33. I believe they first started offering badges in 2003….at least that’s the furthest back I have been able to go when catching up on previous weekly badges.
My first badge I earnt was in Sept 2004.

38

DAWG 09.11.09 at 7:57 pm

I been a member of POGO since the beginning. Have had a few different names. I used to play in YAHOO games and was just looking at pogo when ran across an Army buddy. Gave him my e-mail address and through that found a few more friends. Used to spend hours playing POGO. There were 6 of us, and now there is only me left. Didnt talk to many others then one day a girl from PA got me started again. Its a good place to make friends and loose them to. So have all the fun & enjoy the moments you have with your friends.

39

nessa 09.11.09 at 8:04 pm

I used to play in yahoo games and I met a friend there and he told me about Pogo and sent me a pass, that was 2007, and told me about badges and all the games, I just used my pass to make him happy but I wasn’t interested at all and kept asking my friend what was badges for. At the time I was hooked in a yahoo pool league so I just logged in pogo once in a while as a free member, in Feb. 2008 there was this offer of a 20 day pass and 40K tokens, I wanted the tokens so i clicked “redeem ur pass” and then I don’t know why I got hooked and became a Club Pogo member one year after I first learned about it, yes one year lol. Since then I’m totally addicted to Pogo, games and badges.

40

Dominque 09.11.09 at 8:29 pm

Had an AOL account back in 2000, Pogo was in there game links. Im kind of sad because we switched providers and I lost my old account, of course I wasn’t a Club member but the game progress on Poppit and Tri Peaks would of been nice towards those game awarded badges haha

41

laurie 09.11.09 at 8:41 pm

it was 1996 and we got our first computer,a HP……we had dial up(UGGGH) and AOL.I was surfing for games and came acrross pogo and there was Spike with his balloons!I became a member as soon as the club came out.Poppit was also the 1st game my son Lucas, who’s Autistic learned to play by watching me!I was so happy,he was just 2 yrs old at the time!Been in love with Pogo ever since!

42

Lisa 09.11.09 at 8:52 pm

I found Pogo via america online sometime in 2003, was on mandatory bedrest while I was pregnant, it was free back then and I played tons of Word Whomp.

Later on I started playing other pogo games, and sometime in 2006 I realized that not all games were free, so I joined Pogo sometime in May of 2006. I didn’t know what badges were all about either, but late last year some nice people explained it, and I have purchased all of the albums that have come out, and most mix and match badges too. I only buy mix and match for the games I enjoy playing, not every single game.

I’ve become quite the badge addict though, and it is great therapy as someone else mentioned.

For the Trivial Pursuit, I bring up a new window, and if I’m playing more than one day’s worth of games, I’ll pull up a few tabs instead of hitting the back button.

I found Pogo back in July 2000 after a google search for some games and didnt become a club pogo member until October 2007, after I had used a couple of the free plays that they would give me. I didnt use Pogo for a number of years from about 2002 or 2003 until about 2007, when I started playing on the site again.

It was in December of 1996.I asked my husband what he was doing on computer and he said playing a game,so I checked it out and proceeded to hedge his butt out of chair and took over. Then he told me I could make my own account on POGO,so I did. Then over a month later he told me there was a 2 week free club POGO pass,I checked it out and when it ran out I HAD to join. And have been hooked since! It really saved me from the depression pit I was in,the distraction was the best medicine ever!

I dont remember when I actually found pogo. Seems as if Ive been playing forever. I did start on the free version offered by aol have been a club member since 2004. Thanks to all that have submitted tips because there are a few games that elude me. And a special thank you to Homelessdog for his tips on the golfing. This game has gotten me totally frustrated. Once again, hats off to you Lura for such a fantastic site.

Hi everyone, I have enjoyed this topic. I have been a member since 2001 when my son called and stated he found a great game. We still say Poppit is the gateway drug, because my son, lots of our friends, and me started their addiction to Pogo with Poppit. I did enjoy playing Poppit for a few weeks until I saw High Stakes Poker, then I was on daily. I started Club Pogo in 2004 when they came out with Texas Holdem. Now my son buys me a year subscription on my birthday.

Robin 09.12.09 at 10:00 am

Well, I will add my two cents worth since no one else has mentioned this as a reason to join…I decided $30 (at that time through AOL) was a bargain for my sanity compared to sitting through those awful intermissions on the free side! I just could not stand that…so paid I went just as soon as practical. I have just started a screenname for my mom on her new computer. She swears she will never, ever pay. We will see just how long she can put up with the lack of full access and the intermissions!
I found POGO right after starting a new job that involved baby-sitting a bunch of computers waiting for someone to need help (few and far between) and needed something, anything to do. POGO is my relaxation, my thinking time (let the analytical part of the brain do its thing while I am off in Mahjong or Lottso or one of the Jigsaw), and my “the RA/fibro/etc. pain is too much, I might as well just play” survivor mode time!
And augmenting all of those is Lura and BadgeHungry! Thank you!

I have been playing on Pogo since before Club Pogo was started. I had a different sn then but someone started stalking me and this was wayyy before you could block people so I made a new name. After a year or two and manyyyy badges and ranking out on a few games, someone reported my name for being offensive (it was grumpybutt… reallllll offensive, huh?!?). Anyway, I lost all my tokens, badges, rank progress, etc. Ive had my current sn for almost 3 years now and I rarely miss a day of playing at least a few games. I am a stay home mom and Im usually off and on between all the errands, housework, etc. If youd like to chat and play a few games.. my sn is grumpyx75x…. and most of all… THANK YOU LURA for running this site and THANK YOU to all those that send in all the info for her to put up to help us out with the badges and games!!! Have a GREAT weekend everyone!

Happy Weekend Lura All! I found Pogo through some friends on a game site formerly called At The Crossroads now known as Garfield Games. Before switching over to Garfield Games I won at least $500 from them, I loved that place (but I digress…lol) They were talking about this word scramble game they found called Word Whomp. Sounded like my kind of game…little did I know – hehehehe. Joined Pogo 3/17/2001 (didnt leave WW until 20 mil tokies later….lol) finally couldnt stand the intermissions anymore so joined club Pogo 7/25/2003. The rest they say, is history!

LanceAdelic 09.12.09 at 11:17 am

november of 2006 l started playing pogo and I’ve been hooked every since, the first year and a half I played on pogo passes under many many names as pogo only allows 1 pass per name (LanceAdelic 1 thru 40,so my friends would still know its me…lol) and a few others … now I’m a member and almosts have my 07 badge album complete which makes me current with all badges since I started playing … I cant even tell you what shows are on prime time tv now since l have no time to watch it … lol. I have almost 600 badges since becoming a member in 2008 … sad huh? … lol I love pogo and this site thanks for being here!

Good afternoon everyone, hope you’re all having a great day playing Pogo. My son told me about Pogo back in 2000 and I’d heard so many bad things it could do to your PC that I was always trying to talk him into getting off Pogo. Then in 2007 a friend gave me a years subscription and it’s history now, I’m a total addict. I’ve only paid for one year myself after my friend gave me the first one, got a year free through the league I used to belong to. I have a friend that wasn’t on Club till I gave her a guest pass and when that ran out the Subway Scrabble had just started and I won 3-3 month subscriptions and gave them to her, so now I have her hooked. I look at it like paying it forward when I give someone a Club subscription, who knows who it’ll be next LOL.

Thanks Lura for the great site and a big TY to all that give tips on all the diff games, been a big help to me.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello Lura and all my NEW FRIENDS at BH…since this is the weekend I hope it’s okay to ask this question…….does anyone have any tips on tri-peaks? I am sooooooo tired of losing – lol. I tired weed killer and shooting that dang bird, but still nothing gets me to the gold chest.

Now for Lura’s question – my first sign on name was in 2005 when a friend at work suggested the sight. I ran into trouble with one person in Pogo, and didn’t renew my subscription. It took me several years to subscribe again and now I am trying to play catch-up on badges – lol.

I’ve said it before and I will repeat myself – LOVE THIS SITE LURA and God Bless you and everyone for all your loving support.

62

Ro 09.12.09 at 1:46 pm

LOL Lura…that was good one

63

cora 09.12.09 at 1:51 pm

oh Thank you Lura the pretzel and what looks like horn of plenty was thinking that might be harvest mania 6th one from end .

64

Lura 09.12.09 at 1:57 pm

cora: I think that one 6th from the end is a tugboat. Perfect Pair solitaire maybe? Eh, they’re so tiny, it’s like trying to see individual characters in a Where’s Waldo book.

65

cora 09.12.09 at 2:12 pm

yes they sure are small well thanks for all your help Lura and you could be right on tugboat

66

cora 09.12.09 at 2:28 pm

hi Adeliegerber I love tri peaks finished ranks in that one only thing that might help you is save wilds till you really need them to win the hand, and move cards that are hiding ones underneath. gl

I was searching for free games back in 1999 and found and joined pogo then. Have been playing most days ever since. I was pretty disappointed in Pogo for leaving me off the everybody that has been playing since 1999 list. My profiles shows nov 1999.

68

Cyn 09.12.09 at 2:40 pm

Ive been a member of Pogo since March, 2000. I must admit, I never believed I would find my best friend in cyberspace. Shes on the west coast, Im in the Midwest. Eventually she came to visit me for a couple weeks, and I took my turn to visit her and her husband. Were like family now, always keeping in touch, always remembering where we met. I love you, Patti! Give my lil brother a hug for me!

69

debbie 09.12.09 at 2:59 pm

My children found pogo for me in 1999 and I have been playing ever since .
I joined club pogo in 2000 and have n=much enjoyment from it especially after a hard day at work. I am retired now and can play more hours than I care to admit . I just recently discovered badge hungry and I love this site. I want to thank Lura for all she does and also for the 3 months subscription I won last week. Happy weekend!!

I went to visit my sister on the west cost in Oct. 2006.Until that time I refused to even look at a computer. But she was playing the Pogo games and asked me to play some to get her badges for her. I WAS HOOKED.I joined pogo right away, and have been a faithful member ever since and as you can see I even learned to operate the computer at the ripe old age of 50. lol

73

6160 09.12.09 at 3:46 pm

Anybody remember Primetime Pitch? Thats what drew me to Pogo. Well, that and any other games site with games I liked. When it went away (as well as the other game sites), I went away until 2006 when I got a free pass to Club Pogo. Doesnt look like Im going away from Pogo anytime soon. I wished they brought PP back, though maybe with some elements of Magic: the Gathering or Yu-gi-oh.

DAWG 09.12.09 at 4:12 pm

A friend gave me this information about Bloop and the Secret Bloop badge.

SECRET BLOOP BADGE
You have to play a 2-player game on 1 pt in masters. It appears if you make a match of 5, you get the badge.
NOTE:DO NOT TRY THIS WITH A COMPUTER BOT. THEY ARE VERY GOOD.
Your best bet is to have a friend in there with you.
RIGHT before you score your one point have your friend stand up so a computer bot can sit down. as long as the computer bot is the one you are playing against when you score the point you will get the badge..
So just have your friend place theirs where they wont score and after your friend makes their last move.
Before YOUR TURN where you can score the 1 point… have them get up and replace them with the bot…

USE THESE SETTINGS:
1. Play in a master room
2. Play 1 point game
3. UNCHECK use junk blocks
4. UNCHECK allow players to replace computer player
5. CHECK allow watchers
6. UNRATED game
Basically there should be NOTHING checked on the settings pop up except allow players to watch game. make sure the timer is set on 2 minutes but UNCHECKED..

HAVE FUN.

75

Jan 09.12.09 at 5:13 pm

Happy weekend all!
Id like to add to #74 for the secret Bloop badge. Follow those tips and if you know how to double browse, then this badge is a done deal. Lura has a link for double browsing on the side.
Good luck and have fun.

i played in a game room called uproar loved playing some of those games at that time. I joined pogo when i saw a pop up ad there. hard to believe it has been over ten years. I first joined before it was pogo but I changed names a couple of years later after i had trouble with someone bothering me. I love pogo and for what it costs i can not get cheaper entertainment. I have never went back to the other game rooms and not even sure if they are still around anymore but did like to play some of the tv games shows that they had on there game site.

thanks for all the hints and tips enjoy reading all the notes people post in here

I got bored with pogo after a while and went to yahoo canasta but in 2008 i found my way to club pogo. I want to try and get the Animal Ark Badge in Stack Em. It says its an Expert Leval Badge tho it only shows up to Hard. Any one familiar with this game. Tips or comments on the levels. Appreciate any help might be out there. Thanks much.

79

sexyspongebobc 09.12.09 at 7:22 pm

well i played doublecross on sierra.com before pogo was pogo. my friend and i also played literati on yahoo. we were always looking for more word games. well we had a falling out and we lost touch. i ended up on pogo when we lost touch but not as a member i had another name also, i loved word whomp. i then turned away from the computer and games for many years. well after a family problem my mom thought pogo would help. she sent a pass and i was hooked that was 2007. i credit pogo for my sanity. i was in counseling and got my counseler and her hubby to play pogo. well i also have my fiance who i met on pogo a year ago living in new york with me, we met in jungle gin lol. then the friend who i had the falling out with i found her on pogo a month ago and we rekindled our friendship. thank goodness for pogo i am a badge ho. and ty for the bloop tip. i got the badge for me and my fiance. this place is great ty ty ty ty

lisa 09.12.09 at 8:29 pm

For the Stack Em expert badge, use the bomb to clear out a big section.

81

MomsBassetHound 09.12.09 at 8:35 pm

For RV60 #78 – you can play on any level, you just have to remove 20 animals at 1 time….all you need to do is set off a bomb….that counts.

82

GLADYS 09.12.09 at 8:59 pm

To reply to #78 RV60 the animal ark badge in Stack Em, even though it says expert level you can still do it on any level- you are just an expert if you can remove that many animals on one move

83

DebbieSLP 09.12.09 at 9:33 pm

My husband used to play online games quite a lot as a long haul truck driver, when he was waiting for loads (which can take days sometimes). He introduced me to Pogo a few years ago, but I never played much. Then about two years ago, he was injured and had several months of sitting home most of the time during the recovery. I started joining him in Pogo rooms to see for myself the games he told me about. I finally got my own membership last year, and now I’m as addicted as he is!

84

heavenly 09.12.09 at 9:42 pm

In response to RV60 (post #78):

Expert level badge does not mean that you must play at the Expert level within the game(which would be impossible in Stack ‘Em because there is no such level), it refers to the extra amount of skill and/or time that is required to win the badge.

FWIW, I found this badge to be extremely easy in comparison to other Expert badges. Here are some tips:

1. Play on easy. You have fewer animals to work with, and therefore they are easier to group in larger numbers.

2. Take your time, and don’t forget the undo button.

3. Use bombs if you can. It may not be possible and you can win without them, but it makes it easier.

I hope this helps!

85

heavenly 09.12.09 at 9:51 pm

Lura,

I think a mini contest added to the site would be great! You could have BH readers submit there mini’s, you pick the top 20 and then open up the judging to the public (you could use the weekend thread for the votes). The top 5 winners would be posted promiently on the web site until the next contest.

This is just a suggestion for the format, but I think the idea of a mini contest on BH is definately worth a try.

86

cindy 09.12.09 at 10:26 pm

Ive been a club member since jan 2004 but orginally played on pogo under another name.. my mistake i signed up wrong with the club..LOL..pogo is my relaxation……hubby couldnt live with much longer when computer was down for almost a week..

87

Pat 09.13.09 at 1:32 am

I started playing in about 2002, referred by a friend who asked me to play cards with her online. I didnt become a member until october of 2004, when a long time friend taught me how to click on her name and look at all her pretty badges…I decided I wanted some too, now I have almost 1600 of them. The same day I joined a friend kasha also joined. Five years later, we still talk every week, thru sick and sin, and mostly about both our new grandbabies…I have a wonderful friends list and enjoy catching up on the events of their lives.

I wanted to add a little story. I went to see the court clerk in PA at one time regarding obtaining a copy of a document. I was waiting a lengthy time. About that time, a clerk said, “someone will be with you shortly”. I glanced up, saw her screen, remembered it was Wednesday, and replied “If you stop playing your pogo challenges, i will be seen even more quickly”. Talk about a sheepish look as she turned off her screen and immediatly helped me. Yes, pogo fans are everywhere.

Again, thank you, Lura, and all your helpers. I learn something new each day in here. Now, I am anxious to see the new mini golf screen shots as soon as i send this. So nice to have them included.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions for Stack-Em. Will let you know if I ever get it. I started playing Keno on Pogo back in 2001 and then got busy and never went back. About a year and a half ago I ran into Hog Heaven, not even sure how. We had since moved and lots of changes in our lives and I signed up for Club Pogo and have been going strong. Was even surprised my RV60 was still in place. I love it and having this site just adds so much to the experience. Thanks Lura.

90

adeliegerbers 09.13.09 at 11:15 am

Thank you Cora for the suggestion. I just think I am not good at Tri-peaks – LOL.

91

Trish 09.13.09 at 12:02 pm

This is my second post on this thread. HomelessDog is a GODSEND!!! Thanks to the MGM screenshots I finally got 2 badges….and I havent set foot on a real golf course!!! Thanks HEAPS Homie…couldnt have done it without you!!! As a thank you…and if youre REALLY homeless, Ill let you move in with me…..temporarily….or until the next tip!!! lol

Like HomelessDog would it be possible for some of the more seasoned Pogo TIGERS to post screenshots of some of the other Courses for the novices among us? This is just a request, but one that will be appreciated by many Im sure.

Finally Thanks Bunches to the Hostess with the Mostest LURA for bringing it all to our attention! Youre the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

92

donna 09.13.09 at 12:02 pm

I enjoyed the activities. Its nice when there is something extra going on in pogo. I have been a member since 2002. I was actually addicted to the sims online at the time lol. I used to play quick games when my sim was sleeping or studying or something. One of the friends I made on sims bought me my first year of pogo as a gift. Not sure I should call him a friend now LOL JK. Ive been hooked ever since. I had a lapse for a few months one time where I had no internet and I missed some of the special badges :( I really wish they would offer them again but I doubt they will and I guess I understand why but I still want them LOL

93

Dallie 09.13.09 at 12:28 pm

Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend =) I think my first earned badge was for Tri-Peaks back in ’06

TY to HomelessDog for the screenshots, they really helped. And thanks also to the guy who submitted that awesome Boggle Solver link, sorry I can’t remember your sn. I finally checked out the Hangman Hijinks word list this weekend, and that must’ve been some task, great job

Heavenly, that’s a cool idea with the mini’s ..and I just reached my 100th mini creation! lol let’s have a party

Lura, will the new profile pages have an option to add one? I remember you mentioning you had a surprise in the works a short while ago.. (but that could’ve been for the code giveaway)

94

donna 09.13.09 at 12:33 pm

Oh and I hope its ok I would like to say thanks to Ellen! She went out of her way to be nice to a perfect stranger and It was much appreciated :) Maybe a thread could be added so that we could thank members who helped us or went out of their way somehow. Have a good day all!

95

Melissa 09.13.09 at 1:34 pm

I found Pogo originally in 2001 through AOL. Played off and on, played a lot when I was home for 7 weeks after having my daughter. Was on a message board with someone that sent me a guest pass, and I got “hooked”…bought my first membership in January of this year and haven’t missed a weekly badge yet :) I’ve even turned in coke points for another free year and am saving up for another…don’t know what I’d do without it!!!

96

Lura 09.13.09 at 1:45 pm

Dallie: the profile pages were an automatic part of having a badge tracker account and when I turn them back on, they’ll work for everyone who has an account. What they were/are: in the past, I had it set up so that you could give out the address http://badgehungry.com/yourusername and it’d show a public view of your rank progress (and you could choose what games/albums to show or not show). I turned it off before the move to my private server, but am still waiting on an upgrade before I turn them back on. It’s been a LONG time, but I anticipate having them back in the next month or so.

The “surprise” in the works was not the profiles nor the giveaway, it’s something else entirely. It’ll be at least another week I think, I made very little progress on it this week due to some real life stuff going on.

97

Another Susan 09.13.09 at 1:51 pm

I started playing Pogo many many moons aggo. I had just got a Compaq computer and was using the new 14.4 modem with it. LOL! I remember using Compuserve and then tried AOL. I fianlly settled on a screen name in August of 1999 and have kept it since, but it’s not listed on the Pogo anniversary page. DH still uses the original name I joined with.

I remember Pogo shutting down at night to do upgrades and maintenence. You used to be able to search the member list for people by name, location or interests. Pogo techs would jump into room with us sometimes and chat or see if we had any questions. We had very little drama in the chat rooms and had a lot of fun. I mostly played Poppit and Double Duece Poker and solitaire.

I finally joined Club Pogo 2 years ago mostly to play Addiction Solitaire. I still play that a lot, but have found some other fun favorites. I haven’t learned any of the card games since I never learned them in my non-Pogo life. My family just wasn’t into card games – except poker.

It’s been fun to see Pogo evolve and grow.

98

Dallie 09.13.09 at 2:08 pm

Thanks for the update Lura. I wasn’t sure what was normally on a profile page (before my time). Whatever you’re working on I’m sure will be fun, can’t wait!

99

Jane 09.13.09 at 3:19 pm

First and foremost… THANK YOU… love your site. You and your helpers are dears for all the work you do to give us info.

I was just wondering if anyone had turned any tips in for the Mini Golf
Madness – Fun and Games Game (Hard) for the last hole and for the
hole that looks like a roulette wheel (the headache wheel).

Thanks again

I found Pogo just by chance via a search engine in 2004 and became a member of Club Pogo in 2006. I received an email with a 2 weeks free pass. I have been hooked since.

This weekend, I finally reached my 1000th badge total!

I became a member in 2004 after playing on a year or 2 on free accounts thru AOL. On AOL home page their drop-down box for games went directly to Pogo. I got tired of waiting for ads a subscription didnt seem so expensive back then, so I joined.
But I played for another 1 1/2 yrs. before I caught on to the badge addiction. Im kicking myself for all the Special Edition badges I missed getting!

Pat #87, too funny.
Dallie #19 TL #88 Whats the poppit tip?

Speaking of minis, I made a mini for my dad went into an amazing mini game room for the 1st time w/ his he got chosen for Hot Shots, I was so excited. None of my personal minis ever made it, lol.

paint, regarding the poppit tip- play until u win a game, hit new game(above skill level), by the spinner is a mysterious undo button, click that..then redo ur last move, then hit new game again(above skill level), then repeat all 3 steps

Hi i got a tip for poppit or rather there is a flaw in the game im not sure if u will publish this lura as i spose its classed as cheating but here goes anyhow play on level 2 and keep popping till u get the screen come up saying uve won then keeping popping till the second screen comes up saying uve won with the options ok or undo then hit new game it will bring up the spin hit undo and it will take u back to u last move, do the last move again and the screen will pop up saying uve won hit new game again and und and keep reapting this till uve got ur badge i got mine in like 5 mins also it gives u credit for rank aswell so u advance in rank pretty quick to. Sum ppl say it isnt working and sum say it is it worked for me and i know others it worked for aswell so gl happy gaming all

I became a member in March 2002 but never joined officially until Oct 2006 and I love every minute of being a full paid member of pogo. I have set goals for myself and I wanted to have 500 badges by yr 1 and 1000 by yr 2 and 1400 by end of yr 3 – Oct 2009. I reached all of those goals and I am just 16 badges form my goal this yr. I also set a goal of a badge a day minimum for the yr 2008 and I have done a badge a day since Jan 1st 2008 til present. I have made lots of friends and help many out with badges either by doing or helping esp with the rated games. Have a great wk all. dreamykoolkat is my nick.

Has anyone else had the wrong UK puzzle for today’s answers?

Carolyn/Paint: about the Poppit tip — I said it in that thread and I’ll say it again:

I think there’s no way Pogo could tell you’re using the “advice” or the “tip” (…or “cheat” or “glitch”) about adjusting the game level at the last second, so probably no one will get banned for using it. But let’s just assume they had a way to find out — would you still use it? What about if you knew they’d never find out? It’s up to you.

beetlejuus: it’s tomorrow already in the UK. So no, the answers aren’t wrong — they just haven’t been posted yet. The good news is that Pogo UK is re-using the same questions on each day from last year, so you can just scroll down to find September 13, 2008 and use those for UK. They aren’t re-using them for the US so I’m still posting them daily each morning (and I re-post the UK answers along with them as well).

Ok thanks. I can’t find Sept. 2008 answers and the ones posted for Sept. 13/2008 don’t match the puzzle I have for today.

beetlejuus: yeah, well, that’s because tomorrow’s the 14th.. My fault, though, I made a typo in the last comment. :P I just checked for you and the answers for 9/14 match up just fine.

I’m going to close this thread out early tonight. Last week totally kicked my ass and I want to savor my last moments of weekend-time. Thanks for everyone’s participation and for playing nice while I kind of stepped away to focus on afk-things for a while. See you around!
