not much of a tip from me on boggle, 1000 island is pretty straight forward and easy peasy, i dont worry about making perfects on this one, just as long as i finish to get to destinations lol

Wow I must be having a good week, I thought it was still Tuesday!! 1000 islands isn’t too bad just make sure if you have a lifesaver to use it before you get to the pogo mart or they will not give you another one.
As for Boggle, I am dreading it I hate boggle, any tips would be nice!

cookie: great tip for TIS — people may forget to use it before they reach PogoMart again. I just finished both badges, Boggle took about 15 minutes and TIS took a little over an hour.
As far as Boggle goes, try looking for really common 3-letter patterns: usually if you get ATE you can get EAT (and don’t forget to try to add an S at the end for EATS). Others that I see a lot are ARE, EAR, and ERA. Anyway, focusing too much on the vowels slows me down — I just played normally until I did find a word that started with a vowel and built off of that. I had one board with a ton of E’s in it and got 18 words toward the badge in one round! Lucky, I think.

This site: http://wineverygame.com/boggle/helper.pl is a lifesaver for the boggle badge, for those who have trouble with boggle, or just want to get the badge done quickly.

I have not started to work on the weeklies themselves yet.
Currently I am working on a personal challenge and two other badges (a mix and match and a premium album challenge) for the same sort of badge at the same time. All of them are for Mahjong Garden. Match all 8 seasons correctly. One is for 10 times, another is 18 times and the third is for 30 times. I figure since Pogo is “letting” me work on all three at once, I might as well take advantage of it! I enjoy Mahjong Garden and am working toward the first rank badge in there :)
When I work on Thousand Island Solitaire (which will be last on my weekly badges to do), I have the premium challenge activated for the relax and play album to use 10 lifesaver power-ups. Thousand Island is rather dull to me overall, so I will definitely take advantage of getting progress toward two badges at once there LOL
Boggle, I love! Love all word games, really. But yes, Lura you have the best tip that I can think of for that game involving this weekly badge. Since you don’t have to make long words, just words which start with vowels, it shouldn’t take much time at all. The only other thing I can think of as a tip for Boggle right now, is to take advantage of the arrow buttons at the bottom to give you a different perspective of the board and maybe help you see some other words you may have missed before. (Also panic flips help a lot!)
Good luck everyone! :)

I got a lucky board on the first game I played and got 10 words towards the badge. And I agree with Lura, just play the game like you normally would. It took me a little longer than Lura, but under 30 minutes for the Boggle badge.

not tried boggle bash but gave up on thousend one game keeps booting me out grrrrrrrrrr
kiki 09.02.09 at 4:35 pm
if you keep getting booted in TIS (or any game, remember to clean your cache. a bad aplet could be causing your problems.
lots of people seem to be confusing lifesavers in TIS. the ones you get at the top of the screen do not count towards the badge, only the one you get from the pogo mart employee counts.
shaz 09.02.09 at 4:46 pm
yeah i cleared my cache and degfragged rebooted b4 i went to play tis.still boots me

Also make sure your Java is the most updated version available.
The current version on their website is 6.15 (which reads as 1.6.0_15 on the Java Console on your PC Taskbar)
If you don’t have this, after you get it and install it, REBOOT your PC completely even if the program does not prompt you to do so. That way you’re certain you are running the most current version.

How do you use the Lifesaving Power Ups. Looks to me like they just drop into place at random. Thanks in advance if anyone can help. I read the “How to Play” but…….
Joy 09.02.09 at 7:34 pm
RV, when you make the first stop after starting on the route, you will be given a lifesaver power up which is in the lower right hand corner of your screen. You will only get this one during the entire route. Use it before you complete the route and the next go-around you’ll get another. This power up is not the same thing as the cards that drop from the upper stacks of cards. good luck!

You can really tell it’s a Boggle Bash challenge week in the Boggle rooms. I went into play, and the room could not win enough rounds to qualify for a jackpot spin–even with 16 people playing! It was unreal to me. I was playing well, but since we didn’t win, the game displayed some message about better luck next time and to practice more, lol! Yes, I want the badge, too, but I also don’t want a bunch of losses in my stats. So for giggles I made a comment in the chat box asking why we were losing, and just about everyone said they were there for the badge only, so obviously they weren’t regular Boggle/word game players. I know this probably sounds like I’m making a big deal out of it, and I know it’s really not, but I’m just venting. I guess I am addicted to Boggle and the competitive aspect of it! ;O) I think I’ll wait a couple days until the “badge only” people finish up and clear out from the game, lol.
Chad 09.02.09 at 8:08 pm
One more thing–CONGRATS to Vics on the 10-letter word! That is a big deal and not easy to do. Of all my badges, it’s the one I’m most proud of!
jaredph 09.02.09 at 9:07 pm
Good tips you guys. Boggle can go quick if u get the right letters (i went from 41/60 to 60/60 in one game!) Just play both games like you usually play them, and the badges should be no problem. :)
Gecko 09.02.09 at 9:59 pm
One tip for Boggle, sometimes it wouldn’t let me (and my boyfriend) type letters for a round – I found that hitting the caps lock button fixed the problem for me as odd as that sounds. Don’t know if it would work for everyone, but wish I had thought of it for him as he had to reload several times over the course of the badge.
A PS about defragging which I hear a lot when people have performance problems- this will do NOTHING for Pogo. Defragging rearranges your hard drive so file pieces that go together are together. Programs stored on your computer used to benefit from this. Pogo is dynamic and downloads most of the info each time (& checks with the cache.) In addition, with the operating systems of XP or higher there is no need to do this at all because of the way the file system works. Just an FYI as you can actually cause bad sectors and lose HD space by writing them too much and that’s basically what you are doing over and over again by defragging, so be careful.

For those who may still be confused about the right power-up for Thousand Island, it’s the Lifesaver in the bottom right of the game and what it does, is if you hover over it, it will put three smaller lifesavers on all three of your cards to fix any hazards automatically on each one once you use it.
It’s not a card power-up. Those fix individual hazards.
So either wait until you have two or three hazards on your deck, or sooner if you just want to get it out of the way.
As others have said, you will not get another lifesaver until you use that one. You will only receive it at the Pogo Mart (Second stop) each time.
Sue 09.03.09 at 7:17 pm
I love Boggle also so was looking forward to the challenge. It has been hard to reach the goals because a lot of people are there just for badges. I was hoping that a room could be opened for those not working on a badge at this time.
DebbieSLP 09.03.09 at 9:43 pm
I have to say, I am growing to hate the thousand island game. It took me an hour or so to get the first two Lifesavers, so I went ahead and answered the poll saying it took me 2-4 hours to get the badge. Now I can’t seem to even move. I played an hour and a half last night and again tonight, and never once got 3×1000. It was always 2x 1000 and then 900 or 950 or something for the third ship. I have not figured out a reliable strategy for saving the hazard cards or using the cannon so that I can at least get the ships to move. Is there one? A few bad hands in a row I can understand, but ten or twelve? The deck seems stacked. I’m not a novice solitaire player. This game is a real tease, and not in a nice way.
Bill 09.03.09 at 10:52 pm
Debbie (and anyone else that might be stuck):
Basic tip: Just focus on getting all 3 ships *at least* 1000 miles. You’ll get less tokens if it’s not exactly 1000, but completing all 3 stacks is preferable to losing the game.
Advanced tip: Focus on the number 700.
This is because if you complete a stack perfectly (get one ship exactly 1000 miles), and no hazards are in the other two columns, it will give you a 300 mile card. If you’ve set it up such that one stack (and preferably both non-finished stacks) have exactly 700 miles when you hit the 1000 mile mark on the other, you can immediately click the 300 that pops up at the top of the column, and play it in another stack, making that 1000, and then use that 300 to finish the third column.
(If there is a hazard in one or both of the other columns when you hit exactly 1000, it will give you a “life saver” powerup, which can be used to clear all of the conditions from one column. Unfortunately this powerup won’t count for your badge progress.)

DebbieSLP you dont have to get exactly what bonus says just get to 1000 or more to move is what i did …it works!!
