Today, after saying it was “coming soon” since July 17th, Pogo has “soft released” Mini Golf Madness — there may be bugs and problems with the game for a few days or longer.
This miniature golf game has 50 ranks and nineteen badges (yes, NINETEEN) you can earn in the future (only four of the course badges are active as of the time of this post, the rest will be added with new courses monthly).
There are five rank badges (available at ranks 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50), two in-game achievement badges, and twelve “course” badges (you may only be able to win four at this time, we’ll keep you posted when we figure out the details).

Okay I am one of those people who just glance over the instructions and jump right in. Played my first nine holes and ended up at +2. For now it seems pretty fun, but I am sure there will be some rooms with cut-throat players bragging. At least you are playing on your own and not against each other.
Unlike other golf games I have played online you do NOT need to hold down the mouse button when aiming the ball.
Pogo does have a lot of mini screens that pop up and give you hints, but you can disable them.

OK as of about an hour ago (I’m afraid to leave again) it’s not keeping stats and it’s booting with cripes errors. It does award the 4 course badges and mark as done though.

You are absolutely right John- I played for two hours, got the applet error – was booted and lost everything and I had 25/50 holes in one toward a badge. So be aware.

I played this morning got to rank 2 froze and lost everything. Typical for pogo on day new game is released. Its not as fun as I thought it would be. Maybe once all the kinks are fixed I will try it again. Seems simple enough to play tho.

I played one game and achieved rank one. Had to leave and when I went back into Mini Golf, I lost the rank. Played another game, got rank 1 again and was booted with a Cripes message. So for the third time I went back into Mini Golf, just to see that I was back to rank 0. Looks like maybe Pogo didn’t work out all the glitches after all. Hate to say this, but they should have held up the game release. One person had a badge at rank four and she lost the rank when she got booted but not the badge. Oh well…good luck everyone…I had enough for one day – LOL.

all i get is a white screen, once i got to the point where it says game loading and pogo presents, then nothing, this wont load for me, does anyone have any suggestions.

Geez – I am SOOOO disappointed and I was having such fun – and when we started getting booted or people left and came back to discover we had lost our ranks and progress toward special badges, the whole room just sank. It’s a total shame and I was so hoping that this new game launch would be different. It was so highly anticipated. I will learn the different courses and difficulties but will not attempt any progress toward badges until Pogo takes the game down and fixes these things. This is much more serious than a discrepancy in token count. It’s very maddening.

I too just had to play before I went out to do errands. I did get and keep the first course badge but lost ranks and stats while I was out. Oh Well I will keep playing anyway, seems to be a fun game. That’s why I play Pogo anyway to relax and have fun.

I agree w/ adeliegerbers….. ive played at least 7 games & got booted , when i went back in , i had NO games played —– guess they shuda waited til they had it right…. no1 is gonna wanna keep playing til it gets fixt if they cant keep their Ranks – i was Rank 3 & lost that but not the Badge i earned

I was glad 2 see that the new game is “FINALLY” out… but hate 2 say that i played for almost 2 hours and got 2 badges i’m Rank 3 and i had 27/50 game froze so i left came back and my stats was GONE!!!!!!
I was so upset… but i didn’t lose the badges that i won though which is good.. but goodness gracious they need to fix the glitches before bringin out the new games. Still in Crossword Cove you don’t get the amount of tokens. (Maybe some day they will fix it)… I can’t believe i’m back at Zero when i was at rank 3 in the new Mini Golf Madness game, and i totally agree with (5) They should have held up on the game release… :-( now it looks like i have 2 start over again ughhhhhh

I also lost everything when I left the game. Was up to rank 7, had 2 course badges, left the game and when I signed back on had nothing. Finished one of the courses over again and got badge and put it on. See if it keeps new rank and badge.
I liked this game better when there was a trial play a few months ago. The instructions arent as clear in the version that pogo went “live” with. You cant always tell if its a port hole to get to the hole or just a design on the turf. Takes a while to play and some badges seem impossible to get. Is this Crossword Cove nightmare all over again. That still isnt fixed. Good luck everyone but dont spend too much time with this until the kinks are straighten out. A plus for the game is that it does payout pretty good tokens.

Hi Everyone, well the new game is out, and everyone is having problems, and have lost rank and progress, so I guess I will just wait and see if Pogo fixes these problems, afterall, it was just released. What is the sense of playing if all your work is gone!!! Again, a new game with problems, they don’t seem to fix the old problems before they bring out new games. Crossword Cove still isn’t fixed and now this game. But I will just wait and see, if anyone hears again please let us know. Thank you again and good luck.

Well, i have been waiting for this game since it was mentioned, as it looked cartoony, and more fun than some of the recent releases, and although it may have a few problems, it is still a great little game. I think some people on here are being a little unfair about the problems. Pogo work really hard on these things, and it goes without saying that when they release games, there may be some teething problems. I think it also pretty well known that a game on release has these problems, and it seems silly to sit here and criticize knowing this from past experience. Lets give pogo the chance to iron out the probs and enjoy what they make for us, with everything that pogo does, it cant always go right. Have fun people :) *i finished moaning now…lmao*

p.s on the subject of crossword cove, i think that game appealed to the older players rather than the younger ones imo, and i think the release of golf, will appeal to the younger players (my 12 year old daughter loves it) we have to keep some prospective here nothing ever goes right first time around, and second if pogo spent all there time ironing out other problems we would never get any new stuff…lol lets just put it down to pogo aint gonna please everyone, no matter what they do.

Like everyone else, I lost all of my stats.
I got to rank 2 and finished the warm up course (under par) and got the badge, then I decided to take a break, came back and lost all of my stats.
I also had at least 6 holes-in-one.
But I did get to keep my badge.
This game is really fun, but I guess Ill wait until they fix it before I start getting too into it.

i had to laugh when i saw all the problems everyone was having. not that all the problems are funny lol but its typical pogo when they release a new game (can you say crossword cove and monopoly slots?). i havent been anticipating this game at all, so ill probably wait a few weeks to even check it out.

The One-Hit Wonder Badge – Make 50 Holes-in-Ones, I received sometime between 50 and 90 Hole in Ones. It was not in Album at 50 mark and no Badge Pop Up that it was won but sometime after 50 it appeared in my Game award Album.
The Bird’s Eye Badge – Complete 99 holes under Par, I still have not received and am at least 100 under par holes past the 99 it says it requires. I am beginning to wonder if its a Pogo Misprint (now that would be a Shock) and its 99 games under Par or …MMM..Maybe the Badge isnt working yet (I remember another game with Golf in the title…MMM..could it have been Golf Solitaire where the Flawless Victory! Badge didnt work for about 3 weeks after it was released.

technically, its not truly released yet. it wont be till its listed in the games section (probably under Arcade Sports, im guessing). i dont expect something miraculous to happen in the next 24 hours, but theres a reason why pogo doesnt give release dates.
its more fun than i had expected; i wish boardwalk sea ball had this much variety. but as far as calling foul, its no big deal to me if its quirky right now. ill wait to play it–there are other things to occupy my time.

Even though it was released today, it still doesnt show up on the games list on the front page. EA must be using us as their guinea pigs to see what problems we have with the game and fix them before presenting it on the front page. Then again, this is EA, so the only way this and other games get fixed is if people start leaving over it.
Remember this: when a shoddy, bug-riddled game comes out on Pogo, dont think Pogo, think EA.

i love the game and graphics, BUT(i hope not to offend)the beta testers who tested the game prolly did report all bugs, and if not, should have..but to me if they did, why would pogo still release it knowing all these issues with the game?not sure bout losing rank just yet, just left room for a bi, i not too worried about that, because its pogo lol, kinda used to it..

HRH2M – I already had the game saved to my favorites. I had checked out the game page that was listed in the 8/27 update for Mini Golf Madness here.
Since the game probably won’t be listed until Pogo does their updates this gives them a chance to see ( and hear!) about the errors during real time playing.
I used to work in IT so I guess I am inclined to cut the programmers some slack. (Do they still call themselves programmers?) I’d like to believe they are doing their best with the resources they have.
Pogo send them more coffee, sodas, pizzas, candy, cookies and chips!
Maybe a Subway sandwich??

I love it ~ a lot of fun! Nice to have a game that doesn’t rank in a day too! I love the variety of holes and difficulties. I kinda have to chuckle at all the people who complain but yet still go to play or go BACK to play … even after they read all the comments in chat or here LOL. It’s POGO … have they EVER released a game that didn’t lose rank or tokies the first week or more? Like has been mentioned, it’s not even truly released yet, but it’s available and it’s loads of fun … so you know, going in just enjoy since you already know what will happen. I don’t expect miracles … just sayin :)

I have to say I LOVE this game from what I got to play, it freezes a lot usually on Hole 9.. I been in an out ALL day playing up to Hole 9, I can tell when it’s about to freeze becoz it get;s all laggy and nothing moves.. Oh well just one of the quirks.. Awesome game tho… I have practiced alot and I am getting good, it just sux when I had a -6 game it froze on me!! Now that’s frustrating, just call me the next Tiggah Woods lmao

Just saw the notice flash that Pogo knew stats and ranks were not being stored properly and that the problem was fixed now. Said to to restart browser in order for it to work properly.

While playing Pogo staff posted the message “We are aware that ranks and stats were not being stored. The problem has been solved, but you may need to close your browser and restart the game to properly record stats again.”
So, try it again. I also noticed that if you shut off the sound, the game freezes a lot less.

tigger: not so much. They don’t all have Pogo_* for their usernames, but they all have a special Pogo badge that says staff. You can view their badges and the chat icon looks like a yellowy star flower thing. Behold:

He also mentioned that it’s a glitch that we’re seeing so many weekly courses right now. By tomorrow you should only see one weekly course, Aug 25th. The weekly courses are just hand picked compilations of greens from the regular courses, to add some variety to the game. You don’t get badges for completing them, but it does count towards your rank progress.

omg is it just me or are these courses pretty tough? I don’t mind the game but I don’t have the patience with some of these courses :( Makes me wonder/worry what challenges they have lined up for this.

I was looking forward to this game but man is it glitchy. Freezes or Cripes as I go to first hole after starting a new game. Also was mentioned earlier I have the hole in 1 badge and 127 birdies but no badge so…Who knows. I wont even bother writing to pogo because all they will tell me is its in preview mode anyway which is what they will say for any problem right now. Is very frustrating and disappointing that not one game has come out this year without major bugs attached.

I rather like this game… Some of the holes frustrate the heck outta me, but then I pause and step back. If you keep shooting in one direction and its not working, try a less obvious one. Like bouncing it off of the wall! Ive found that the harder holes are set up so the best way to complete it isnt the move obvious.
Also when playing and trying for a long shot (thats in a straight line) gt a piece of paper… line it up between the ball and the hole/area intended and just match the arrows up along the paper. Works great and saves you that line powerup for when you really need it (like when bouncing stuff off of walls!)

I am beyond frustrated, i have yet to be able to complete an entire course without the game freezing on me. Tried using different explorers and clearing java and files and nothing seems to help. Anyone else having this issue?

Played three times and each time froze on hole 13. was under par each time it like pogo doesn’t want u to win. Think I’ll wait till REALLY ready. A lot of players in room said they were having same problem. :(

Im finding that I get the cripes error message if I try to play more then 1 weekly course. I can start anywhere from the first to the last. If I want to try another weekly, CRIPES!

Was quite disappointed when this game did not make its debut last week. I started playing yesterday morning had the same problems as everyone else. i dont know if Im stupid, blind or what, but where in this game can you see your stats?!!! i have gotten quite a few hios, but dont know what my count is. Can somebody please point me in the right direction…

Im enjoying this game, but it takes a lot of patience. So far Ive won two course badges and they are for Warm Up and Fun and Games. Im currently working on the Astro Blast course, but that second part of it keeps frustrating me!
Ive been booted a couple of times this morning due to a java application error or something. Didnt have that problem last night. Although last night I did have the game freeze after I made a hole in one shot. I waited for a minute or two and it finally came back. Imagine my relief. :P

If you play and stick to the same course and make sure its not graphically intense, you can play a long time without a cripes. It seems that the more intense and the more different holes you play it just sucks up the Java memory until it crashes the game.
On another note I got the Birds Eye Badge not after 99 Holes under Par but after 99 GAMES under par.

Yes it is incredibly glitchy, but that’s to (UNFORTUNATELY) be expected with new game releases.
I do enjoy it very much. I have not been having any issues (yet) regarding losing stats or rank at all.
I got under par on the first 9 holes of the warm it up, but still struggling to do the same on the back 9 holes. Once I got the aiming mostly under control, I did relatively well! I enjoy the challenge the game gives and the interactive features (Such as Meep beaming the ball up and down etc)
This is a game I will keep playing for sure. I am a fan of “real” mini golf as well

From How To:
You can see how difficult a course is in one of two ways – either by reading the course description, or by looking at the icon to the right of the course name.
A bronze ball represents an easy course, a silver ball represents a medium course, and a gold ball represents a hard course.

Hey everyone! I really really like this game. I was up until 3:30am with the madness! Now I just look like a zombie knowing full well I had to be at work early today lol. I’m having severe mgm withdrawal at present. I too was a cripes victim a few times but made it to rank 6, have 2 course badges and 4 away (which prob means 50) from the one-hit-wonder badge.

My favorite board is the tiki head and you have to shoot the ball through it’s mouth for an easypeasy hole-in-one.
My LEAST favorite board is the solid orange one (medium) with all the pitfall holes that bring you back to the starting point. I made it in 5 shots only once.

I do really love this game though. I have all four course completion badges (two of them were difficult to get! stupid back 9 holes…) though I havent aquired the 50 hole in one badge yet. Last I checked I was close but with getting the last course completion badge I decided to take a break, lol.
I wish that the weekly courses gave you badges for finishing under par too.

Okay, I’m completely baffled for once. Granted, I’ve only played 2 games, but… how the heck do you ‘win’ a game? I managed to finish both games I played under par, but according to my stats I haven’t ‘won’ a game. I tried to find the answer in the ‘how to play’ to no avail. Also, can anyone tell me why I can no longer select the ‘warm up’ course? I only played it once (thinking it was a good one to try the game out on), didn’t win a badge (like others have reported) and it’s now just solid text instead of a link I can select.

Just a reminder, when playing the past games in mini golf scroll to all the back to January and start playing them. That will be the calendar month deleted first, then February and so on. Every month will be new courses and challenges. So play catch up starting in January. Remember Crossword Cove, if you scrolled all the way back you could work on April and May, then within a couple weeks they were locked out.

I like this game, some holes are a pain in the butt, sometimes I just hit the Take 6 button after a few shots. I’m already at Rank 6, did get the Cripes! error page a few times but keep plugging away. Good Luck All

Learned something by mistake. If your stop hand is lit, you can use it by RIGHT CLICKING. I was always mousing over to the icon. I have been able to stop the ball by right clicking even if the icon is not lit. Hope they don’t fix that.

MariaLoon, post # 73. Try these tips out: On hole 16 try using the Acci-Aim power up, aim for the top of the course just above the lava, just be sure to try and miss the bowling pin.
On hole 17 aim the ball to rebound off the wall opposite the bridge entrance, this should get you on the bridge.
I am having fun with this game, I have 4 course badges and the One Hit Wonder and now at rank 9.

I’m tossin my hat in the ring for lovin the game, and I’m tossin the towel in the ring for playin it. Out of 20 tries I’ve only mangaed to finish 9 holes once. Wonder if it’s cuz I’m on a Mac. Any other Mac users able to play through hahaha.?
Oh yeah one more thing on that tornado hole in Warm up, what’s the secret to that. I think I’ve tried hitting it every place possible, and always end up with a take 6.

Birds Eye Badge is not working or there is a trick I have not figured out yet. I have way over 100 birdies, like 2 dozen eagles, and close to 200 holes in one and no birds eye badge … yet.
I am speculating maybe need to be rank 10? I am rank 9 atm, will see soon … if that’s not it, any clues?

Bobbi: The weekly courses were never for anything other than practice and to help build ranks. The Game Designer that created this was in a room until after 10pm last night. He was very friendly and helpful with tips. He said that the weekly ones would be disappearing but that starting in october there another course added each month with badge to suit.

Also at rank 10, ranking up gets to be insane, over 500 rank points TNR to rank 11 ugh.

I am completely disappointed with the game. I have not been able to get past the 9th hole of the warm up course. I sink the putt and the game just stops. I tried playing other courses and the same thing happens. It gets to a certain hole, i make the putt and nothing happens. Any know if im doing something wrong maybe?

Pete: the only thing you’re doing wrong is playing a game too soon after it’s “released”. If it’s in the list on Pogo as “New” or “Sneak Peek”, just avoid it for a few weeks until Pogo gets their act together and fixes some of the bugs. :)

I seem to be having problems with the 99 holes under par badge too.
Must be a new game glitch lol. (btw Lura, I know that I shouldn’t play a game too soon after it’s released… easy to say, but almost impossible to do lol) Overall, it’s a good game! :)

I was able to stop the freezing problem by clearing my cache immediately before loading the game, and then turning off the sound once i’m in the window.

Is anyone having problems with the game freezing on the warm up course, “draw the line”? Everytime I freeze on this course, no matter what I do or what room I am in. Anyone have any suggestions? Even when I click on the “take 6″ it still freezes. Please tell me I am not the only one with this problem?????

What worked for me as far as the game freezes (I didnt freeze on the holes while playing, but did when choosing a new course) I refreshed the room list screen behind my game window after every jackpot, matched up my new token count, and stats were not lost. Ive gotten so used to doing this over the years, even still with all the games on pogo. Anywho, Im happy to say Im at rank 10 and have all the non-rank badges except for the Birds Eye Badge. On the first night I did shut the sound for a while but put it back on at the risk of a cripes error because I liked them lol. My best score is -13 and cant wait for some new courses!! ..uh-oh Im feelin the madnessss..

I have been having a problem with getting the badges I have earned. In other words, I’m not getting them. Emailed Pogo and their response was that there have been many other players emailing about the same thing. And the standard reply of we are working to resolve the issue. So we play ’cause we like the game or wait to earn badges too. My opinion, practice makes perfect so what the heck….

Brenda, the badge requirements are explained in the main post. You get a course completion badge for scoring under par at the completion of 18 holes of each Standard Courses. And there’s a special “Bird’s Eye Badge” that you get after you’ve won 99 games under par.

If you clear your Java Cache and go back in to Mini Golf, the Weekly Courses will now go back to August 4th.
To clear your Java Cache (since someone will ask), right-click on the Java Coffee Cup in your task bar, and pick Open Control panel. In the control panel look for a section on Temporary Files and click Delete Files.

Does anyone know the trick or tip on how to play the Mad Lab hole? It looks like a maze with lots of holes and if you sink your ball in one of the holes, it just pops back out at the start again. It is the hardest one to me. Thanks!

It may have taken all day *grins* I did get the course badges then went back to the first course, finished it, again, and did get the one hit wonder badge. Each course one time then the first course one more time…that was the easiest least time consuming, for me.

I was in a rm yesterday in Mini Golf and the producer of the game Mini Golf, Joe C also was there and stated that the “birds eye badge” was mistakenly set at 999 instead of 99 and that pogo was fixing it soon, so til then you prolly wont get that particular badge, but gl all and have fun playing.

Had a Live Chat with Pogo Gary yesterday evening who told me in simple language “Bird’s Eye badge isn’t working and all who have earned it have not yet been awarded it – Pogo engineers are working on this problem” BTW this Live Chat is brilliant and though it’s in beta format has possibilities. Just love MiniGolf and have already met some very fine players.

HomelessDog: I was thinking about the screenshots for getting a hole in one. I was a big fan of Sierra’s Mini Golf Deluxe back in the day — on each hole there was a “sweet spot” for getting a hole in one. It was precise, down to the very pixel of aim and alignment, but it was duplicated with practice and patience! I bet these holes are all the same way.
Really, though, if you want to submit them to me (admin@…), I’d be happy to host a gallery on my site of screenshots. Storage space and bandwidth is not an issue here.

Jillian: What a pain in the butt that orange board is lol! I completed it only once in 5 moves and luckily completed the course I was playing. I haven’t figured a way to get in less than 5 shots yet, so all I can say is just shoot diagonally, riccocheting off the walls whenever you can, to get closer to a clear shot to the goal.

Been getting some good hints on MGM, and got a
great one for the volcano on the warm up course, which I too had multiple problems with–the key is to go Under the triangle of molten rock, Not over. You place your ball on the far right tee and go right Under the lower tip–I was so darned lucky, I made a Hole in One !!! Good luck with this game.

On my desktop that runs Internet Explorer 6.0, cannot get the game to load at all
On my laptop that run Internet Explorer 7.0, game loads, but freezes after front 9 holes on warmup.
I’d say Pogo hasn’t yet fixed the bugs in this game.

This is a fun and nice game, but, like a lot of players, I lost also my progress and got back to rank 1, and keep getting booted with cripes errors.. It would be very nice and respectfull to players if Pogo thought about working on all those bugs and glitches. It’s a cute game, instructions leave something to be desired. Seemed like every hole had something to show, didn’t explain very well on some good on others, yes I took them all off. One thing I didn’t like was not being able to tell flat from a hill or valley very easy. and telling how hard you are actually hitting is weird till you get used to it. I have done 2 courses so far and it wasn’t that bad. Will wait till I play more to put in more for new players.

Genevieve: yeah, that’s not good, sorry. I’m deleting that comment — it was talking about using an “auto” which is an automated program you can buy which plays the game for you. It’s completely against Pogo’s TOS and could result in the forfeiture of your prizes and in rare cases might even get your account banned. My official stance is: use them if you want to, but I’m not comfortable promoting them to people who might not know or understand the consequences.

Regarding the 99 under par badge, I emailed customer service with a screen shot of my stat page showing I should have earned the badge, and they added the badge to my collection. But make sure you include the badge name or you will wait for a response that just says “what’s the name of the badge?” Highly annoying. :) Hope this helps. I don’t know why we can’t earn it on our own. :)

I see some are still having questions about the birds eye badge–99 holes under par-i have talked to pogo help and to techies regarding this over the past week…It is supposed to be 99 HOLES under par. The rumor went out that it was in reality 99 GAMES under par, but, this is untrue. The rumor that it was programmed, in error, for 999 HOLES under par, was confirmed to me. This includes the categories of birdies, eagles, and double eagles added together. With 227 birdies, I was finally awarded my badge. The “simple” way is to cut and paste your stats and submit to pogo help with a request..gl. I waited until Wednesday to try again hoping the “Tuesday fix” rumor was true, but it didnt help me. So, I guess you try to get thru pogo help, or wait until you have 999 holes under par. Otherwise, I am still enjoying the game and trying to hone my skills.

Homelessdog, thanks very much for sharing your screenshots. They helped a lot for a couple of holes that had me stumped, or that I couldn’t remember what I did last time! Now if someone could figure out the last hole on Warm Up, the bouncy ball one, then I’d have that course mastered!
It’s still frustrating to play the game most of the time. Even in low traffic times, the ball motion and zoom motion are slow and jerky, the ball direction adjustment is slow to respond, and the badges don’t work right. It has promise, though. And at least it no longer quits on me after a few holes.
