Weekend Open Thread

now that we have that o-so-handy “My Collection” summary page, i am amazed to see that i have a total of 42 albums completed (all types). so THAT’S where all my time (and money) went!

i buy nearly everything–PBAs and MMs–but i have learned to purchase just the ones i know i will be playing sooner than later. if there’s the chance that some of these will go on sale before i can finish them, why not get them on the cheap? i have all the PBAs other than Road to Helplessness; since i didn’t love many of the challenges in that, i figure it can wait till a sale. the only album i haven’t finished yet is Monotony World–i don’t hate the game, but i don’t like drowning in it either. the yearlies are all done, and you can bet i popped the cork on my favorite fizzy when i finished that dastardly Dice Derby Grand Prix 2003.

my wish is that they’d come out with MMs for the deluxe games. those, i’d snap up in a heartbeat and that would be an album that would get finished quickly.

hope e1 will have a great weekend! Well i have every mix and match badge and every album . I still need to do payday freecell in the last book. I look forward to the first of every month for the m&m ! i just love the challenge of the games.

I have 23 premium albums and have completed them all. That is all of the albums offered since I joined pogo. I have 11 mix and match albums. All of them completed except #11. I need to purchase and work 3 more to finish it up.
I think everyone has their own system to work off these extra challenges. I bargain with myself on them. lol…I make myself complete a premium album before I open another one. I usually try to work a mix and match with the weekly challenges. I love to do double time when I can. I am looking forward to todays posting of new mix and match challenges.

Happy weekend ev1! TGIF!! I have a personal left in one of my albums, it is the 2006 badge album for SPADES ): RATED GAME- win 2 -250 point
games. I have seen people ask for help earlier on this game, but never saw enough people to actually get it done. So, if they are 3 more people out there that would be willing to help me with that next Wednesday, please let me know! I really want to get this aweful badge done already! I dont think its fair pogo puts rated games in a challenge. Oh well. Have a good one!

I love earning my badges :) I have 21 premium all completed, and looking forward to the new one that is pending. I also have 11 m & m , i just have 2 albulms to complete, one im working on and one that has a spades badge left to do.

I was wondering I see people saying the are working on the UK badges (trivial pursuit and crossword cove) but how? Could someone help me understand.
I have completed 28 albums. All of the weekly ones are finished, only 5 completed are mix-n-match (lots and lots to finish there). 17 of them are premium albums. I need to get motivated on all my unfinished m&m books. LOL!!!

I have 1 more m&m badge to do to complete my 16th m&m book. I’ll get that tomorrow with the August ones! I’ve completed 25 PBA. Wow…not sure I’ll count again any time soon. My brain is trying to figure out how much all those cost. But being the addict that I am, it won’t stop me. LOL.

We’re finally out of our record breaking heat wave here in Seattle. It was a nice balmy 59 when I left for work this morning instead of 74. I’ve decided the next place I live will have a/c, even though I tell my friends who don’t live here “this is WA…we don’t need a/c”!!

Since I joined in june of 06 I have completed 13 mnm, 13of 20 in mnm 14. 24 premium books compleded and 7 off 20 in Road to Happiness. I only have 2 of weekly badges completed am working on all the others. It takes a long time to get when you can only do 1 a week.

I like to thank you Laura for this web site. I check it every day to see what new news up have posted. And thanks so much for trivial and crossword answers. Thanks you to I’m up to date in trivia both us and uk. In Crossword I’m up to date in us and almost in uk. Keep up the good work. Love this site.

I missed the chat last week about the number of badges we’ve completed, so I’m going to brag about that now.

It’s those game award ones that I’m the most proud of. Come heck or high water, my goal is to completely fill that guy up. The empty spots belong to those badges in Texas Hold’em and Omaha Sixth Street, several of the downloadable games (I made myself promise to not download any more until I’ve completed that darn cursed Poppit Show!) and the daily games where we can only progress at a certain speed. (Although, in my mind if I’m up to date on the dailies, then I consider the game to be ‘done’.)

Now for the topic at hand, badge albums.

Albums Completed: 40
Weekly Albums: 6 complete and up to date on 2009
Mix-n-Match: 11 complete and just starting number 12.
Premium Badge Albums: 24 owned and completed, 1 unpurchased.

I used to purchase all the PBA’s and MnM’s as soon as they came out, but about a year ago I stopped buying the MnM’s unless they are either on sale or about to retire. Therefore I’m about a year behind everyone else on the MnM side of things. I’ve just recently decided to do the same thing with the PBA’s.

And now a HUGE THANK YOU to Lura and team for the work they did getting CC answers up and running so speedily. I am forever grateful to all of you who contribute answers for CC and TP. Without them, I would be very very grumpy indeed.

As a side note, Lura, do you think it’d be possible to give us a link where the US and UK answers are set up very similar to TP? I like that I can view the answers for almost an entire week with out having to click back and forth through the links so much? Since we’re dealing with images for CC I realize that there could be loading issues for some folks with slower internet speeds, but it’d be really nice to have one page that covered more than one day. Not a huge rush by any means, just curious. :)

Bluecoyote. To do UK trivial pursuit and crossword cove you need to scroll all the way to the bottom of the home page and click on the UK flag. When done UK puzzles go back to bottom and click on US flag.

Lura, I just want to say thanks for all the work put into this site, it has helped a great deal.

Now onto the topic: Yes, I do collect the mix-n-match badges and the premium albums. 8 m&m albums completed and 25 PBA completed. Jeez, it was all pretty costly, but it was worth it. Gives us Pogo members challenges to do when we’re all done with the weekly challenges. Anyways, the new m&m badges come out tomorrow (I think) and this month’s badges seem decent, especially since there’s gonna be the 1st Boardwalk Sea Ball badge, so I just want to wish you all the best of luck with them. I just wish Pogo would give us the option to do 3 personal badges in a week more often, catching up on all those yearly badges is such a pain.

Ive completed 9 MnM books and all of the PBAs that i have available. Ill probably end up buying all the MnM badges tomorrow as they all seem like they may be reasonably easy.

On a seperate subject, does anyone know if being a pogo addict is a valid excuse to be excused from jury service LOL i got a letter a few days ago saying I was needed for service Sept 1st – but i dont think I can serve as im not an american citizen yet – am only a legal permanent resident.

I have 25 PBAs, all completed, and am on my number 17 for M/M badge books. I have completed 3 years of weekly challenges and am current so for with this year. Ive been skipping around in the years that I havent completed. I admire the patience of people who can wait for the sales on the albums and M/Ms.

I have a few dreaded ones to complete in 06 – I have never popped every single balloon in Poppit, and doubt I ever will. I have achieved rank 12 in trying to do so! Yes Ive read all of the help sections without luck. Maybe its a patience thing? :)

I just do the weekly badges, game awards, special edition albums. I dont buy any extras, for me I have plenty of games to rank out on.

To Carolyn Gordon on the Pebble Beach Golf, I was surprised about the webglc.info site being removed from service, bummer it was a good one. I did a little research found this one, it has tips for each hole. Good Luck!

I have purchased many albums (not sure how many) and yes, there are many hateful unfinished badges keeping me from competing the albums. Some games I just cant figure, mostly card games. I have no badges in any of the following games. Canasta, euchre, hearts, cribbage, poker, pinochle, chess, Yahtzee, payday free cell, rainy day, bridge, spades, or backgammon and possible a few others. I just cant figure them out. I am looking forward to the new mix-n-match challenges and since it is raining here in Pa, I was kind of hoping theyd be released tonight (7/31). To those of you who follow these things, is there any hope of that? I am enjoying this site, I just found it the other day but have been playing Pogo since 1998 or 99.

I would be happy to assist with badges that people are having a hard time with ~ I know enough about each of the games to make the badge goals ~ just pogo mail me and I will help ~ unless I get three million members that want something….. lol

I have 35 albums all together. super dominoes need to win by 60 points yuk.. high stakes poker need one, but i’m not a poker player. and sweet tooth need to get 150 tokens in spins, hard to get yuk.. and these badges are to finish a badge album. Guess I’m in a pickle with them all.

Once again it is raining here in MA and I am getting tired of my summer vacation being all rain. I am working part time before school starts again in September and it seems that every day off I have is rain and the days I am working it is sunny. I guess that is my life.

I have all the Premium Albums available and buy all the MMs once they are released.

I have nearly every album completed. I am still working one in Pogo Cookbook and one in Road to Happiness, I am holding out to work on those badges until I can work on a Personal in the same game (since they are not games I enjoy playing).

I also can’t close out my MM Book 15 until I get the last Chess badge that was released (win one game). I don’t play chess :P So I have to have my hubby help me with that one.

premium: i have 36 albums and finishing the last 2 and missing the first one.and the yearly albumns i only have 2008 completed.I buy gems but I really need to calm down and wait for the sales lol.

I have completed weekly albums, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008. still working on the other two. i have finished 9 mix and match albums, I used to buy them all but found some were really hard in a game I didn’t like, so now i am more picky about which ones I buy. So far I have 20 premium albums and have completed 16 of those, again i started picking the albums that had more game that I knew I would enjoy completing or at least didn’t want to make me shoot myself…lol. And I must say WTG to ev1. I am a very big addict, but I am glad I finally learned to control myself. I love Pogo but I had to stop torturing myself playing games I just really don’t like. :) But of course if the game comes up as a weekly, there I am torturing myself anyway…..LOL.. ;)

I need some help. I upgraded to IE 8 this past week, and now I cannot view the premium badges. I am able to see the animated thumbnail of the badge, but not the bigger badge itself. What would be the problem?

Thank you so very much! It has gotten to hubby that he couldn’t close his very first mix and match. He works six days a week so he is available evenings and Sundays. Just message his account Hawkmoon1969 or mine Stalota1 and let us know when you are available. Lol, I told him last night I would give tell him what cards to play when it was his turn so his turn might take a minute but I play spades so I know it’s not a long badge. He got this badge in hopes of learning so we could play together. He never knew any card games (he has learned Canasta!)

HRH2M…yes a mix and match book needs 20 badges in it to fill it. And when you finish all 20 challenges you will get a another badge for completing the album. That last page that says select a challenge is just your next open spot. GL. Oh and no pogo doesn’t give a free challenge in mix and match.

Happy August 1st Everyone, Thank goodness the new m/ms are out, they are alot of fun this month, also the new jigsaw is out. In regards to Crossword Cove, I did not receive my badge for filling in a whole month. I did contact Pogo and they said their “engineers” are aware of the problems people are having and are working on it. I just don’t understand why some people get their badges and others don’t. But anyway just wanted to give anyone who hasn’t gotten their badges a “heads up” that Pogo is aware of the problems, will they be solved, who knows. Have a wonderful day…thank you again Lura…

In boardwalk you just have to hit the squid before it gets to the clam, I usually aim the minute they come out the gate…Didnt take long for me to get that badge because I didnt sit there and wait to play the other 4 rounds, I just went from room to room, found the round that were closest to squishing and got the badge in less that 30 mins…..
If you still need help just send me a msg , I will be on most the day and will look for you in youre wanting to get it today!!

I have 24 premium albums and 13 m-n-m albums. Sadly, there are quiet a few of them undone. I tend to put off ones I have purchased in games I don’t really like as well so have started not purchasing the ones I think I won’t do. I like to use these challenges when I am trying to finish the ranks in a game. I will activate premium challenges and do them over and over for that game to add a little extra fun to getting the ranks done.

I did pogo mail someone who said she was going to try to organize spades games. I’m usually pretty open on times in the evenings.

I’m sorry I forgot to mention to use the pin and anvil at the very end. They usually help to clear the board.

I have a total of 41 albums completed. Have 3 yearlys I am still working on. Have all PBAs finished except for road to happiness which I havent bought yet. And 14 MnMs completed. (I quit buying in May except for special editions cause my hours got reduced.) My favorite feat is my 310 game award badges.

I cant do that dam golf game where you have to make par on every hole to get the challenge completed. I also havent managed to get the chess games…have several incomplete albums because of it. I dont usally buy albums cuz Im on a very tight budget, but love tokens! LOL. So if anyone can do the golf game or wants to do the chess, let me know. Add me to your friends list and send me a note from there. True about Poppit; if you need to get every single balloon, the best way is make sure you have at least 1 star balloon (thats the pin) and thatll help. Thanks in advance, love this site!!!!!

I am surprised at all the people looking for help to set up a spades room. I didnt look for others to help. I figured out the key to symbols in spades from the set options page. I then looked for the designated key signal, walked in, sat down and played. You and your partner (across from you) get a credit if a win is made. I play all rated games this way, simply recognizing the desired symbol. The other option is to set up your own room and advertise in chat, such as rated, room 10, please join.

As for the premium (have and finished all), the mix and match (held out till about 30 had expired, then gave in) have 15 albums completed, working on 16, all are completed after purchase..have 1535 total badges and am a certified pogo ho. I have 6 more 04 badges and 1 more 03 badge to complete. I love a challenge and call pogo my brain aerobics and am hoping it will help me delay dementia and alzheimers (as studies seem to suggest)..After all, the brain is a muscle, needing exercise…But, most of all, i love the friendships with fine people that have developed over the years. We often communicate outside pogo via email, letters (and pics), and phone calls—after trust has been built.
I hear about the cost of Pogo, but, i too do little eating in restaurants, movies, shopping for extras, and have decided i deserve this special treatment. Over the years, i have found much support and help with badges and have found new friends this way. If i am in a full room , such as payday free cell, i just ask room, who can teach me how to beat swashbucks?. Usually I get a quick offer; if not I find another full room and ask again. I have always been given advice and found people to go to the room and give me pointers. But, using this chat seems even better than my boldness. Oh, I have done 5/8 of Crossword Cove badges and can answer a few questions…never did find some of the scores and progress toward badges that went into thin air, yes, UK counts toward progress, a month seems to consist of more than the month–I started on May 1 and got the monthly badge on completion of June 2nd, so carry on..I got the 100 games under 15 minutes when accumulater read 103 completed…so best advice is not to give up–do a few extra till techies catch up and GL to ALL

I would suggest both you and your husband get a free second name and than both of you can double browse with both of you using you name and the free name tha go to the same table. This would be easlier than trying to find 2 more people for a rated game.
The regular players are worried about there stats for ratings.
Which I have no problem with(they seem to want to win) and its hard to get their help. Also, trying to get 4 friends all at the same time is hard to organise.

Its called a weekend OPEN thread so I can promise you if you read maybe 5 or 6 post prior you will see that we have talked to death the token payout and the answers in May for the UK…
